I asked for information on the check engine light. He told me it be $100 for a diagnostic. The information I was given was mediocre. Talk about cosmetic issues, brake pads being worn absolutely no information on the fault codes. Once done explaining why I shouldnt buy the car, he tried to sell me another car for his friend. 20 minutes later at OReilly, I received a printout of all seven fault codes and Solutions on how to fix them for free.

Very pleased. Pulled codes for check engine, gave me some good advice, all free. Only thing I regret is I didnt tip him.

I have been going to Sal’s Foreign Car Services for just about a year. I bought a 2007 Mercedes Benz CL 550 almost 3 years ago. I love my car.... for the first year I had a mechanic who worked on it ( minor repairs ) and did not charge an arm and a leg to look under the hood. He is no longer in business..... So.... I had the challenge of finding a good mechanic that was not going to drain my bank account for servicing my car. I chose Sal’s. I made the right decision !! Hamed has been a pleasure to work with. The mechanics in his shop are very knowledgeable , these guys can do anything the Mercedes Dealer can do .... and for a much better price. It seems like I have had quite a few problems with my car this past year, but thanks to Hamed and his mechanics ... I am still loving my Mercedes . They have been great. Very easy to work with, fair prices and great repairs.I have sent several people to have work done at Sal’s and everyone agrees with me.... Sal’s is the place to take your car. I am so happy I have a place I can trust to take care of my car.One more thing.... he always shows me the old parts he has replaced and explains exactly what he has done.

We have been using Sals Foreign Car Service for years, for our Volkswagen, our Honda and even for a Buick. Sals has always been competent, reasonable and honest, and we bring all of our vehicles to him all the way from Oakland. The owner is very nice, polite, communicative and honest, and I consider him a friend. The shop is immaculate and well equipped, and I highly recommend this automotive repair shop.

Hamed knows his cars and the business of servicing customers.I had a reliable mechanic here in Castro Valley for years who erviced all my vehicles, including trucks. I had a problem with my BMW 745LI that my mechanic could not identify. He said my car would not communicate with the diagnostic computer. I took it to the dealer and practically laughed at their approach to finding the problem and what it would cost me. My wife suggested I take it to Sal’s for a second opinion before giving the BMW dealer my right arm and leg.I met Hamed and told him the problem.. He immediately told me the sequence of what he would do to try to find the problem, but made no promises. About two hours later, I got a call from Hamed who identified the possible problem and the potential cost of the repair, which was fractions of what the dealer estimated. It turned out as he said and I have been taking my cars to Sal’s ever since. Hamed knows his cars and the business of servicing customers. I highly recommend Sal’s to all my friends.

Good honest mechanics who do many repairs at fair prices but tell you when its better to go to the dealer for something special.

Hamed is the go to person anytime. I trusted him with my ML, and he serviced it to a point where it was hard to sell. Now I am a proud owner of an MBW X5, courtesy of Hamed. Sals allows regular folks like me to drive expensive cars, because you do not have to break the bank.

I recently had my timing belt and water pump replaced at Sals Foreign Car Service (the one located on Castro Valley Blvd) in Castro Valley. Over the years Ive taken my cars to a number of auto repair places, but Ive finally found my go to mechanic. When getting my cars repaired Im always worried about getting ripped off, overcharged, or sold extra repairs that you dont need.Some of the other auto repair shops Ive gone to are good, but they charge quite a bit more. Hamed the owner of Sals offers what you want in a auto repair shop:- does good work, backed by a 2 month warranty- hes honest and courteous- has reasonable prices- price was as quoted- is dependable and reliable- has a clean shop- is accredited with the Better Business Bureau and is an ASE certified mechanicTIPS- Sals website has a coupon (1 per family) that offers 10% off both parts and labor- please call the owner Hamed. I called him Sal by accident a couple of times, but Hamed didnt mind and joked that he should just change his name to Sal. (Hamed used to work for the original Sal many years ago, but bought the shop around 18 years ago & kept the name Sals)- note that Sals Foreign Car Service 2 on Center Street in Castro Valley is not affiliated with Hameds shop and is owned and operated by someone else. The operator of Sals #2 leased a former Smog Only shop from the original owner of Sals and somehow was able use the same name. Confusing, but this review is only for the Sals located at 3343 Castro Valley BlvdA pleasant surprise was a thank you letter I received in the mail from Sals that also offered 10% off my next service/repair

I went to sals on Castro valley blvd to replace my ABS module ....I didnt have a good experience he quoted me $1,900 for a ABS MODULE KIT and the dealer quoted me $920.00 big difference a $1000 difference. .WOW
