Walked in asking for a professional low fade haircut even showed a picture of what I would like. The lady cutting my hair instead took clippers to my whole head and unevenly faded the top of my head. If that’s a job well done for them, just save your dime and go someplace else. I will say at very least, they did have a good attitude. Oh and according to the owner, as you can see, instead of taking responsibility and trying to improve based on the reviews, he writes it off as fake or from a “unhappy former employee”. Classy joint.

I have been going here for several years. Jackie does my perms and they are the best perms I have ever had and since I am 73 years old that is a lot perms. Mike cuts my hair and has always done an excellent job.

Asked for a 2 on the sides and back, up until a certain height on my head. The person went past that height that I specified. Thats not really a big deal. The problem is with the actual quality. The back of my hair is not the same length. One side is higher and shorter and the other lower and longer. There are a couple straight lines through my hair which stand out to me. Finally, I wasnt going to make a review, but after a week or so of my hair growing back I just noticed in the mirror that there is a two finger patch of hair on either side of my neck, which stands out terribly. As much as I would like to blame a lack of communication on my behalf for the outcome, I cant bring myself to do so. The quality wasnt there to begin with. To anyone reading, if you get your hair cut here, I hope you have a better experience. Make sure to be extra clear on what you want.

Nice people thats it, the second I got home I took my braids down and washed my hair and made an apointment for another shop in 2 weeks. Though to be nice I still paid for it because she did take time to do it even though it was nay at all what I asked for.

Im not very particular about my hair. If it looks bad Ill just buzz it. What I am particular about is feeling welcome, feeling like my business is appreciated, & getting a good vibe. I always leave CE with a smile on my face. Not from the haircut, but the haircut could definitely do that, but from the great conversation I just had. Place has been here for years, and for good reason. If you have a bad experience let someone know, they value that information and want to give everyone their moneys worth. They know they are far from the only option in Carson for a haircut.

I gave this place a try and ended up in Myras chair. Myra gave me an amazing haircut. She was fun to talk to and very professional. I will be returning.

Cassie did my hair. I agreed to the blow dry because it was very cold out. She blow dried my hair for 3 seconds. When I went to pay my hair was still very wet so I told her I wasnt paying for a blow dry. She got huffy and just wanted to argue. The owner Mike heard the whole conversation and did nothing so he showed me he doesnt care about quality or customer satisfaction. So I just paid the amount she wanted so I could get out of there. I had to dry my hair by putting my head by the heater vent in my car. When I got it dry I realized it was more than 1 inch shorter on one side than the other. Of course I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Horrible haircut. He wasnt moving around. Never had this issue with the stylists that used to work there.

Did not acknowledge when I entered. Took other customers in front of me. Seemed to be male stylist preferred men. Then staff ignored me to do chores. Manager would not talk to me. I saw him come back to the shop. No offer to get my business, so I will go elsewhere. The next shop I went to got a nice tip because they treated me well. (Not C.E.)

Went to This salon for a cut and color and seen Jennila. She did a wonderful job on both. It’s sometimes difficult to find a stylist that’s skilled at both. Jennila has lots of experience and it shows.

Mike and his crew will take good care of your hair and nails. They are open 7 days a week with a helpful number of daily work hours. I see men, women, young and old. I discovered this place from a 16 year old male acquaintance whose hair cut and highlights looked great. And yes their prices are good!

Got a terrible cut that was rushed and had a family member with me. He didnt get his done because mine was so bad. The men they favorite, they kinda flirt with and act horribly classless. After getting my cut, my stylist sat down in her chair and stuffed her face on the floor. It was gross. Wish I went somewhere way more professional. This isnt it.

Mike has been cutting my husband’s hair for the last 10 years. My husband is extremely picky, and the fact he cannot imagine having another hair dresser says a lot. The place itself is clean, organized, the service is professional and of course, the price is extremely convenient. I’ve brought my 2 year old son here twice. Today we had a young father who did an amazing job cutting his hair with scissors. I was impressed with his patience level as my son is very squirmy. He even took the time to trim around his ears. The young woman hairstylist accepted an appointment for a child haircut. She was inexperienced and did not know how to interact with children. After crying the whole time, we happily left. She did such a horrible chop chopping his hair that we had to buzz his head at home. Be careful who you select. There are two stylists here with children of their own who are stellar. The other lady should not be seeing children as clients.

This place was amazing, they were so friendly and nice. They got my fiancee an appointment right away and the service was phenomenal. The guy who cut Andrews hair was super chill and super nice not to mention he hooked my man up. My man looked soooo 🔥 hot! Thank you to the man woth the skills. My mother went a few times previously for a trim and liked this salon, but her most recent experience was not good at all. She got a perm here in Feb or Mar and paid well over a hundred dollars for it, but was very disappointed with the uneven results and damage. She attempted to discuss the problem w the stylist and when that failed, later mailed a letter to management while the shop was closed during the shutdown. Unfortunately they did not even give her the courtesy of a response.It is possible my moms letter got lost in the shuffle during the pandemic, but if they really just did ignore her complaint bc they didnt care, I would warn other customers to avoid this salon unless they want a bad job done and to have their complaint ignored eve when they try to seek a resolution.I would be happy to revise my feedback should management opt to reach out to my mother and rectify the situation.

I recently moved from Reno to Tahoe and needed somewhere closer to home to get my hair cut. Like many men I also needed to get the quarantine cut my spouse gave me fixed up. My husband did his best but it was in desperate need of some professional attention.I called and made an appointment with who was available and got Skyler. He gave me one of the best cuts Ive had in a while. He took my awkward Covid cut and made me look clean and professional. I look forward to seeing what he can do with it once its fully grown back out to its usual length. Ill definitely be scheduling with him regularly from now on.

First fade buy Michael was great.... so I went back for a second and got Skylar it looked good at first but he did not do what I asked the fade is way to short my cow lick is more pronounced I would be better off shaving my head than to walk around with this mess.

Great atmosphere and professional beauticians. The ladies that cut my hair so far have been incredibly kind and talkative but can be more discrete if you just want to sit in silence without the idle chatter. Sometimes the studio is standing room only but other times it is virtually empty so it is hit or miss whether you will have to wait or have your pick of open chairs. Ive enjoyed my finished look every time so far.

I saw Maylin? for what I scheduled as just a haircut. I was told at the time of making the appointment that the price would be $13 since I was over 55. I went in for the cut. When the stylist started blow drying my hair I offered that I could style my hair when I got home so I wouldn’t keep her from her next client. She indicated that she had given her next client to another stylist that had a no show so no worries. When it came time to pay she indicated that the cut would be $28 because a blow dry is extra! $15 extra for a blow dry that I never asked for!?!? Although the cut was ok I’ll never go back because I feel that was deceitful on her part. I also followed up with a phone call and was told that, yes, a blow dry is $15 extra according to their manager. I’m perfectly willing to pay $28 for a haircut, just not deceitfully!!!👎🏻

I went to Shawnee to get a perm done. She was and phenomenal and had next day availability! Not only was she professional, talented, and showed outstanding customer service but she was so nice and really cared about what she was doing! I was really impressed so I brought my boyfriend who hadnt gotten his hair cut in 10 years in to see her she did exactly what he wanted and we left very happy! I would recommend to anyone who wants a great haircut with a great person to check out cutting edge and see Shawnee!

Malyn is a great stylist

Shawnee did a beautiful job on my boyfriends hair. After calling every single salon in Carson City to help fix a perm gone wrong and being denied by almost every single salon, we called Cutting Edge and Shawnee told us to come in so she can take a look at his hair. She immediately said she would help us fix it and got us in for the next morning. His hair turned out so great and we definitely will be returning and recommending to all our friends! It has been about two weeks and his perm is still cute and curly, we really appreciate the friendliness of this salon and getting his perm done in time before his dad had passed away so he was able to get one last laugh! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!(:

I chose this place because of the good reviews and I regret it every time I look at my baby. Nicole completely butchered my baby’s 1st haircut. He was still the whole time so it wasn’t that he didn’t cooperate, when I asked she said that his hair simply needed to be washed and styled, definitely not the case since this is 2 weeks later. I’ve had a few people ask if he got ahold of some clippers and did that to himself. Later my husband told me that she also charged us for an adult cut rather than a kids one.Update ***The owner Michael got a hold of me and had my baby come in to fix the haircut. He was very nice and understanding of my frustration and attempted to fix it, but sadly my son’s hair was too messed up in some areas. The only thing that I can do now is give it time for his hair to grow out. He did offer a to keep cutting my son’s hair for free until it is completely fixed which is very nice but we’re still extremely disappointed that it’s going to take months to fix 1 awful haircut that should have been done right to begin with. I’m am upgrading my star review from a 1 to a 3 solely because of how nice and generous the owner is. I would still never allow Nicole to touch any of our hair ever again

I went into cutting edge after calling and scheduling not only a color but a full color change from dark to platinum. Not only that but I went in on my birthday and had plans for the evening. So needless to say my poor hair dresser heather had a lot of pressure from me. I literally put all my faith in her and it was her first time ever seeing me. She gladly and willingly put me in her chair and did exactly what I wanted. She could have easily just given up after the first 3 hours of me being in her chair but she didn’t. She had no anxiety of messing it up and if she did have any she didnt show it! All the staff were absolutely welcoming. Every step of the way Heather was reassuring. And every second was enjoyable in this girls chair. Not a dull moment. I definitely feel that I have found my permanent hair dresser. I have not one negative comment from my experience here. She has a client for life! And mike the owner of cutting edge has also gained some more clientele! Thank you guys for being awesome!❤️❤️

Recently moved to Carson City and needed to find a decent person to cut mens hair that is stylish and up to date with current trends. We were lucky enough to find Mike between clients. He did an awesome job on a hard to please teen. Appt recommend because he is so good its hard to walk in and get lucky enough for him to be free. Highly recommended no lie.

Glad I found this place after moving back to the area. Shawnee is great and has cut my hair when it was long, medium, and short. She pays attention to the details and does a superb job. My dad also gets his haircut here. The Cutting Edge is AWESOME!

I’m not from around here, but needed a fresh haircut (not an easy thing to get on a Sunday afternoon in Carson City). I was warmly greeted as soon as I walked in, and with no appointment, sat down for a cut within 2 minutes. Elizabeth is amazing and hooked me up with a fantastic skin fade on the side and trim and line up on top. Top notch military haircut and wonderful customer service. The atmosphere is relaxing and the price can’t be beat! Will definitely return here if I am in the Carson City area. Highly recommended... six stars if I could!!!

A bit difficult to find because its in a corner, but overall a good experience. Everyone wants to move quickly, but thats probably because of the lines on weekends.

Will never go here again. Would give zero stars if I could. Walked in, no one greeted me. I wrote my name down, guessing that’s what I was supposed to do. Sat for 15 minutes before someone walks to the counter says, you need a haircut. I say yes please. She doesn’t introduce herself. Asks what I want. I proceed to tell her and the show her a picture telling her I want the sides and back taken up short but the top left long. I walk out 10 minutes later near tears as she’s cut everything to within an inch or two (depending on where you’re looking because it’s so uneven) all over with it sticking up like alfalfa in the back despite me telling her she has to cut it longer there. Now it looks like I have a fuzzy cone head and I’ll be wearing a hat for the next 3 months. I’d be in tears if I wasn’t so pissed.

I used to think this was a great salon. The past couple times I’ve had bad experiences with their stylists, and upon calling to tell the manager about it, he literally laughed in my face and asked me “I don’t get why you just don’t make an appointment.” The first of the bad experiences I didn’t make an appointment, almost had to cancel because they squeezed in a walk in. And, I don’t get why this guy just doesn’t want to make money regardless of if I’m a walk-in or I make an appointment. I will be taking my business, and my money, I’ll swear from now on maybe I don’t have to feel uncomfortable somewhere else.
