I want to share good things, but I cant. Location and public transportation are the best amenities youd have here. Although the staff is trying its best, this 180West ----> Trinity at the Hill transition is going way over budget. Administration is seeing that and turning focus towards over pricing rent and pretty aesthetics instead of customer service.

Not a bad place to live at all. Its grown a lot. Last year the customer service was lacking (they werent mean then, either. Just no follow-through). I love the design of our apartment. Were in an end-unit at the end of the parking lot, so we have more windows and were facing the woods. The deck is just large enough for me to plant herbs and tomatoes. Right next to Carrboro High School so it can be a little tricky getting out at certain hours, but its not as bad as you would think.Pros:Nice pool with barbecue area.24/7 fitness center (fairly decent, but does need to be updated a little)Technology package has pretty good internetVariety of floor plans. I like the partially upgraded (with the kitchen) more than the hardwood floors.Pet friendly.Area is perfect for walking and jogging. On the J Line bus route.Staff is super friendly. Very welcoming to humanities diversities.On-site volleyball and tennis courts.Cons:The service team can be a little slow to respond sometimes. They do good work, but even with the more organized office staff it can take a bit to get out unless its an emergency. Make sure to let them know early and remind often. The school traffic around 4:00pm means you need to leave earlier or later than you intended to.Overall a cozy little community that I like to call home. It still has some growing to do, but I can see it happening, which is heartening. Come be our neighbor!

The location is great, the J bus route is reliable, and the apartments have a nice layout. Unfortunately those things are overshadowed by all the bad stuff.I would imagine that these apartments were probably very nice twenty years ago. The issue is that they are in horrible condition (surface level and deeper issues) because of years of neglect. Basically this complex changes management and ownership CONSTANTLY. I think people always start off with the intentions to fix the place up, then realize they’re in way over their heads and sell ASAP. The office staff has had some very nice people and some very rude people but honestly you never know if the person you speak to will be there in a week because of the high turnover rate...Getting maintenance to come to your apartment is like pulling teeth. You have to nag them or they will not come. When they finally do get there they patch an ugly bandaid fix on whatever the issue is. It takes months to get them to do anything if you can get them to do it at all. I have moved to another complex in the area that is at least as big and maintenance issues usually get resolved within a day or two.Rent is expensive especially for what you’re getting. Valet trash doesn’t always get picked up, gym equipment is broken and gym is dirty, pool stays closed for half the season.Basically - don’t move here.

I have had wonderful experiences with the staff at 180west. I had a situation where they checked out suspicious activity around and in my unit when I was out of town. I recently had the experience of them letting me know that I left my headlights on when patrolling the premises; my negligence would have lead to a dead battery. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

I originally moved into this apartment when it was Chelsea Commons and things were not bad. Since then we have gone through a million managers and the leasing staff and maintenance crew is incompetent. Currently, the grass looks like it hasnt been cut in weeks but yet rent is $1000 and up. Maintenance is a joke in that they will mark your work orders complete when nothing has been done. If you want to wait 2 months for a work order to be completed than 180 West is the place for you. If you like to be lied to by office staff and even corporate implying that they will handle your issues and get it addressed ASAP then 180 West is the place for you. If you like to see different people working in the office every 2 weeks b/c of the high turnaround then 180 West is for you. The apartment complex has been shot to hell and b/c they cant keep management in the office long enough so issues keep piling up. Please rest assured they expect rent to be paid on time which it has been, never late but yet I have to beg and plead for things to be fixed in an apartment thats falling apart day by day. Even Regional managers are not people of their word. You can call the office and speak to the Regional manager (cant keep regular leasing agents) and ask a very important but simple question to which she didnt know the answer but yet is a regional manager. She then takes your name and contact number I think and ensures you they will pass your message along but dont expect that it will be done and youll find out 3 hours later it was not done. Way to go management!!!Its sad when you cant even go above them to upper management b/c they lie as well. Run keep your money and find another complex.

I recently moved into this complex and it was an extremely pleasant experience. The process was straight to the point, and the group in the office (Beneetta, and Christine I think?) made my move very easy. I was able to get a great rate for the apartment that included several different options like a washer/dryer and a fireplace! I visited the unit, did most of the paperwork online, and so far I am very satisfied with this choice!

I have lived here for 4 years now and when I first moved in everything was great when it was still Landmark at Chelsea Commons. I lived in a 3 bedroom 2 bath apartment and once the company changed it went down hill. However, the most recent company has been doing a great job and I now live in a 3 bed 2.5 bath town home in the the same complex. The manager Christine has been amazing in turning this place around and playing catch up from all the work that was not done by the previous companies. I hope she does not go anywhere because her team is the best that has ever bee here and they get it done. This is a nice place to live because it is quiet, clean and the staff is very responsive.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. You might be tempted by the affordable price of their 2 bedroom apartments as I was but this place has been my worst nightmare. First off, the move in process was horrible - the office has one leasing person on staff. Thats it. There is no manager, no assistant manager. I was told SO much incorrect information by the former assistant manager who was recently let go which made the leasing process extremely confusing and frustrating. Once I signed the lease, I moved in to a completely broken refrigerator, no W/D (which I was paying for), the door frame of the front door completely broken off, completely broken A/C unit, missing microwave parts, the bathroom door doesnt shut, and a completely empty and unusable closet with no shelves or racks. Only 3 things from this list have been addressed and I have lived here for over 2 weeks. I am still living with no A/C. There is garbage and abandoned furniture in the back of our apartment and the grounds are just not maintained well at all. There is a gym but a lot of the equipment is broken and the gym is very dirty and not maintained at all. They also keep telling us that they will be giving us a fob to access the gym after hours - which still hasnt happened, so you can only go during business hours right now. If you are thinking about renting from this place, READ THE REVIEWS. Listen to what everyone has to say. I made the mistake of not doing that and this has been by far the worst experience Ive ever had with a company. If I could give them 0 stars I would.

I had planned on moving into 180 West last year all the way from NJ. I gave them my holding fee $250 and was assigned an appt but did not sign anything. The week prior to my move in, I took a quick trip down to check out my assigned apartment. They knew of my requests(2nd floor, 2bedroom,mid-level upgrade, fireplace). What I saw when I went to visit almost made my vomit. The apartment they assigned me to was so dirty, smelled awful, closet doors were hanging off by one hinge and the kitchen was disgusting. I was told there was a fresh coat of paint, carpets replaced and cleaned....this was a lie. I expressed my concerns and how none of my requests had been met. I did not sign the paperwork agreeing to this apartment. The next day, I was taken to a one bedroom that fit my requirements and was told they would have to see if they could switch me to this much cleaner apartment. It took them 2 days. I received a phone call while back in NJ...3 days prior to my scheduled move in telling me they would not be able to switch me to the other apartment and would have to settle for the one assigned. I refused. The next day, the office manager called stating they could but me in a different apartment but that I would have to change my move in date a few weeks out. If youve ever done a state to state move, you would know this is not practical since everything was scheduled months in advance(mattress, furniture, moving truck, moving help, 2 weeks notice for work). Again, I refused.I requested a refund of my holding fee($250) which they refused to give back. They never held an apartment for me since I refused the 1st one shown and I never signed paper work locking me into anything. So, this company basically stole $250 after showing me a dirty apartment.Thankfully, the apartment complex that I moved into just so happened to have an apartment available for immediate move in. The process was much easier than the back and fourth I experienced with 180 West even months prior to moving in.Avoid this dirty run down location. There are much nicer, welcoming locations that are worth the money that would have been wasted at 180.

My gf lived here for two years. Easily the worst run apartment complex I have ever seen. Any service request took 2+ weeks to be fulfilled. Her roomates toilet did not work and it was not fixed for 2 weeks. Their reasoning was there is another toilet in the apartment so your service request is a low priority and is at the bottom of our list. The front office has a very high turnover rate and is a rotating carousel of apathetic employees who couldnt care less about tenants issues. 10/10 would never reccomend anyone to live here. BEWARE!!

I came here in September 2018. I was excited for the cost of the rent that seemed very reasonable for a 3 bedroom 2 bath in this area. They said I had a remodeled apartment, which I guess meant new appliances. However, be wary of the terminology that the water, valet trash, washer and dryer, cable and internet is included in your rent It is NOT included it is additional cost ON TOP of your rent and fluctuates every month. I have been ok with the apartment, once they seem to get the roaches under control. My HVAC system sucks! My light bill is twice as much as it was in a four bedroom 2 bath 2 story house that I came from. They have not changed the filters since we moved there. The management company has changed a couple times and maintenance is ALWAYS an issue. Currently I am on day 8 with no use of my kitchen sink without backup. My apartment smells like sewer because the sink and dishwasher are not draining and there is standing water in my dishwasher and a clogged broke garbage disposal of which I have only used maybe twice since I been there. I do not use the valet trash that I pay for because it draws bugs and animals get into it. In the winter there is no snow or ice removal and we live on hills and sidewalks, so it was really dangerous when there was ice and snow. The pool will not open on Memorial day weekend like every other pool in america for what ever lame excuse they have come up with. Marisa in the office is great but she cannot run the place alone and without support.

Horrible Experience. You do not want to live here. I started to get sick because they have mold in their apartments. The windows do not close properly and the window panes stay moist. I was told to just keep cleaning the windows and things with Clorox. I had to get a lawyer to contact the office for them to come out and try to seal the windows, but that did not help. The electric bill was always close to $200 dollars. The heating and cooling system does not work properly. There was an animal inside of the chimney and it was banging making noises and running through one of the walls in one of the rooms. The lady downstairs ended up having a dead animal that came from the chimney in her apartment and there was huge flies that were eating on the animal. She had mold in her apartment as well. She was given back all of her money and allowed to move. When I first moved in there was no hot water because the water heater was broken. The closet doors fall apart. There was also bugs when we first moved there, but we ended up spraying and setting traps and got rid of them. These apartments are not worth $1200 dollars a month. The only good thing was the pool. And there was plenty of parking. I will say that the move out process was easy and I wasnt really charged for much even though my child left a big stain in the carpet. Anna is very helpful and nice.

Giving this place one star is like giving them a trophy. This place is an absolute dump. Bug/spider/cockroach infested, terrible management (as of June 2018), maintenance is barely responsive and applied Band-Aid fixes to everything instead of dealing with the root cause of any issues. Grass is rarely maintained, they charge you for cable service as part of your rent and it’s mandatory and non-negotiable. Also we unknowingly moved into a unit that wasn’t even finished. Management is unresponsive, rude, and all they care about is selling units (and will engage in shady and deceitful tactics to do so). Avoid this place at all costs.

Chelsea Commons is the worst place I had ever lived so far. Like other guys said in the review, we also had issue dealing with them when moving out because they took all of our deposit away saying we did not provide 60 day notice for the move out. Different officers have different stories to back up for their arguments. You can definitely tell the difference of their attitude before and after your move in. Before moving in, they will send you emails to inquire if you are interested in moving in. However, when you move in and tried to ask them for help or resolve issues. It took them days to respond or no reply. One of the officer was the worst. When talking to her about the move out notice, she showed her impatience to me.When I sent out information, and my friend inquired the move out a couple days after I sent out the move out notice email, She told my friend that she never saw me before even though I had her businesses card on my desk and she said she just got my email. Until I showed the screenshot of my sent email, then she admitted that she received my email a couple days before. A total liar with discrimination attitude. Even though I called in and asked for deadline information, she could instantly forgot what I just said and just ignored my word as she never sent me the deadline information. How could such a lady with a memory loss issue and with no honesty find a job to represent a company in the frontline. If you are not comfortable dealing with customer, please go home, and i am sure many more people want this job.The younger officer was bad as well as she was very irresponsible and she would never pick up call or reply email. She is a liar too because she claimed we violated the 60 day notice policy as the other lady told me was 30 day notice. One of them must be a liar or both of them were trying to make things up since we had a short term lease so they hardly can find someone to cover the loss for the discontinued lease. They try to ignore you and wont help you with your issue if you are out of town. The facilities in the apartment were old. Depend on your location, we had rented a place near the dumpster as cockroaches were our regular guests even though they promised sending people every weeks for the pest control.I draw my conclusion here: Chelsea commons =unprofessional. If you want to live with pleasure, Chelsea commons is not even an option. Chelsea commons if you want to regain my trust, please hire someone who really want to help and serve your customers. This is an area near the university!

I am a very reasonable person, 180 West (formerly Chelsea Commons) is a very bad place to live. We lived the entire winter without central heating. Management does not care about your apartment. They only care to collect rent. If you end up living here I would advise you to collect written and SIGNED confirmation of your rent payments at this complex. They often seem to get amnesia and demand that you pay them rent multiple times for the same month. This reflects their poor administrative and disorganized management.

I finally moved out of 180 west and I’m honestly so happy to be done with this place. Hands down the worst apartment complex I’ve ever dealt with.If you have any sort of service request, expect it to take forever to get done, and you’ll probably have to constantly bug them about it in person and over the phone. There were several times that I called repeatedly for service requests and when they finally decided to do something about it, it would be a temporary fix. It was obvious they didn’t even try and I would have to call and bug them again. Just one example: the entire shelving in one of the closets came completely out of the wall. I had to put all of my clothes and shoes on my couch for several weeks before they came and fixed it. Once they did, they put it back up with duct tape so of course, it broke again. I spent the last few months living there asking them to fix it and they never did. It was still broken when I moved out.Oh and if you live here, you’ll most likely have a roach/other bug problem at some point. I talked to 3 or 4 neighbors that told me they had roaches, one had to get the place fumigated. I also saw quite a few in my apartment and had to spray the entire apartment with raid several times. One time their entire website crashed. The phone number was disconnected and I was not in town. I had to get my mom to go over to the office and pay my rent for me and call me so I could talk to them on my moms phone and they could explain what happened. Took them almost a month to get it working again and they didn’t notify anyone about it.Someone crashed their car into the side of my building once. The structure that held up the stairs that I used every day to get in and out of my apartment was destroyed. They put a piece of wood on it and some caution tape and called it a day. It ended up taking months for that to be actually fixed and I was a little scared every time I used the stairs. The whole time I lived there (2 years) two of the three treadmills in the gym were broken and one of the two ellipticals was broken. The little card to get you into the gym only worked sometimes. They never covered or emptied the pool so it was all green and disgusting for most of the year. They also take forever to actually open the pool in the summer. You’ll also have to pay for their internet and cable and valet trash whether you want it or not. The valet trash doesn’t actually always come when they say it will. It’s the worst. I never once used the cable but still had to pay for it.I could seriously go on and on about how terrible this place is, but I’ll spare you the novel. Just don’t live here!! You will regret it.

I rented my unit sight unseen, as I was living abroad at the time, and soon discovered it was my worst housing decision ever.In December 2016 I signed a one-year lease after having a great deal of trouble getting the management at that time to respond to my emails and phone calls. Having looked at other apartments online I decided to go with 180 West (at that time Chelsea Commons) because the rent seemed decent for a 3-bedroom apartment. But what you find out at lease signing is that you are forced to pay additional fees for services that you may not want or need: cable, valet trash pickup, regular trash pickup, pest control, and the like. I should mention that the monthly $60 cable fee didnt actually provide cable service to the apartment--it was a cost that the cable company supposedly was charging 180 West for bringing lines onto the property. On top of the $60 I had to pay another $60 or so to actually GET cable.During the time I rented (12/16 to 12/17) the management company changed four times. With each change came a cosmetic makeover to the property but the managers one and all were incompetent and/or neglectful. Some of the work orders I put in 6 months from the end of my lease term had not been addressed by the time I finally moved out. For example: there was a big stain in the ceiling upstairs, and the maintenance crew came and looked at it, scratched their heads and said it was too big a job for them to tackle. And so it stayed and got worse with each heavy rain.I was dinged for a late payment one month, because I was being charged for a pet when I no longer had one, and in spite of multiple phone calls to the office no one seemed to be able to fix the bill. The problem was exacerbated by the fact that I was staying out of the country for a period of time and couldnt just go to the office to get it straightened out. If you pay online, you need to pay the amount shown--no adjustments are possible. The units that have not been remodeled are in bad shape. In my apartment, the bi-fold doors were hanging off the closets, the kitchen counters were badly chipped, the heat/air unit made a racket each time it turned on and the small closet-like area where it was kept was filthy. The slits in the louvered doors to that area were completely plugged up with dust. Oh, and the storage unit off the downstairs deck had big holes in the ceiling, the paint was peeling off in big sheets on the back side of the unit, the smoke detector didnt work...you get the picture. The word remodeled is a bit of a stretch. I saw one of the apartments during an open house. They did two things that I could see: put in a new kitchen faucet and replace the carpeting in the living room with flooring that has a wood grain. An apartment complex is only as good as its management. Competent people who enjoy their jobs will take care of problems as they arise and invest in things like new roofs instead of superficial makeovers that are designed to wow potential renters.Dont rent here. If I could have given it zero stars I would have.

Dead animal smell coming from your fire place on a warm summer day... sound appetizing? 180 WEST is your dream come true.. Yes my husband graduated Law school last week and our guest got to experience this luxury before we all had to leave because of the soothing aroma..WAIT it gets even better...So we had an animal trapped in the wall of our fire place. I felt bad because you could hear it trying to escape so I called the office and made a maintenance request on APRIL 16th. Well with our consistent walks to the office, emails , phone calls, and work orders I guess the animal gave up because it’s aroma has filled my house for the past two weeks.. yes it’s MAY 19th and the issue has gone untouched.... Honestly this is so standard of 180 WEST. Also if you like caution tape they have a beautiful display of that on the back corner of the property where the exterior has fallen off the building..OH I almost forgot about how we had a roof leek coming through our ceiling fan... that only took a month how does mold grow? ON A POSITIVE NOTE they did update all of the apartments with individual water meters YES! they did this in February so you too will get your own personal toaster sized hole in your closet.. HMMMM makes you wonder if the animal that died just didn’t have the time to find the hole to get inside my apartment.. I have two children under 5 and I’m sure they would have loved the discovery of an unexpected pet... so if you don’t get the opportunity to stay in your apartment you could walk down the road to the bridges because they have a pool that is open for use.. OR you could use the pool at 180 West it’s just a little green but it is only late May and 90 degrees so I’m sure it will be up and running soon but if not remember this area has 5+ apartments to pick from but I just don’t think that they will have all of these luxuries. But this is only our experience... don’t take my word for it...

My husband and I have lived here for three years. The complex has beautiful scenery, lots of space to walk, and is in a really safe, nice area. The apartments themselves are laid out nicely and feel really cozy -- thats why we have stayed for three full 12-month leases. Its a complete shame that NO ONE knows how to properly manage this property. Back when we moved in, they were still Chelsea Commons and the staff was friendly and we had really no issues with the office. Unfortunately that staff was out before we had lived here for six months and there have been at least four property managers and three different complex names since we moved in.The current staff is hateful and rude to anyone that comes into the office with an issue. They dont act like they have the time of day for their residents. They are nice to your face and agree with you when you say there is an issue that is unacceptable but never actually take measures to fix said issues. We have had maintenance requests in the online system (that we have had to put in several times because they close the requests without actually doing them) for TWO years. We have carpenter bees on our deck every spring and no one ever takes care of our requests for pest control (EVEN THOUGH WE ARE CHARGED FOR IT EVERY MONTH) so I feel uncomfortable going out on our deck for fear it may fall. Oftentimes the grass will grow to knee-height before they will cut it. Thankfully we have not had this issue, but basically every other person we know in the complex has had broken AC that is in process of being fixed. My friend that also lives in the complex had her master bathroom ripped out for three months due to a leak. Once they got the actual leak under control, they never came back to finish her bathroom so there is still a small hole in the wall/floor that they refuse to come fix despite repeated calls and visits to the office. Also the pool opened this week and its June 29th....Their way of doing things around here is to put it off until you give up even trying to get the issue fixed. They care more about getting new residents in rather than keeping the current ones happy. We are so glad that we are leaving this complex at the end of July so we dont have to deal with their BS anymore. They are bleeding residents... When they thought we were going to resign our lease, they were going to add about $200 per month to our rent and when we told them we were leaving, they said we could resign and continue with our same rate. Absolute total bs management of a beautiful property with a lot of potential. Good luck if you decide to lease here....

I moved to this community when it was Chelsea Commons (June 2015) and I loved everything about it. Office staff was top notch. Maintenance was incredible. Since then, I have gone through 8 property managers and 4 management companies. My original review was stellar. Sadly, I felt the need to edit it. Maintenance is not only very slow to respond but they mark work orders as complete when they are not. I have a kitchen floor that is coming up. It’s the cheap “wood like” (more like plastic) flooring. My original request was 7 months ago. Second request 3 month ago. It’s marked complete, but I’ve cut myself on it twice, as it’s still in disrepair. The water smells horrible. Almost like there is sewage in it. The utility bills are insanely high. I pay more here for 1300 sq ft then I did in my 3000 sq ft home. The windows and doors are cheap and thrown in that you can actually feel the difference in temp if you walk in front of them. My electric bill averages $200 a month. That’s on top of the almost $1400 a month I pay for rent, water and their mandatory cable. Even though I pay my own cable bill every month, they still collect money from me on top of it. Total cash grab. No more notices for packages, so if the incompetent mail delivery person doesn’t leave a notice, your package can sit in the office for months. If you happen to rent the 3br townhouse like I have, do NOT expect your 2nd floor temp to be lower then 80 in the summer because the a/c Unit is horrible. I will be leaving when my lease is up. There are tons of higher quality apartments at lower rates. I’ve don’t the research...you should as well!

The leasing staff lies, is inconsiderate, and promises things they cant promise or just chooses not to follow through with. I will never live somewhere this company manages ever again. Steer clear. I Iived here 2016-2018. Theyre not bad if all you care about is a pretty apartment and sq ft. You get a lot of bang for your buck here in that regard. If you just want a cheap apartment with management that I would give a 5 star rating to, pick Rock Creek or Poplar Place instead.Pros:-Really well priced given the state of the appliances/apartments and the floorplans.Neutral:-I think that the office staff can be really friendly and excellent or rude and incompetent; its hard to say because they rotate in and out so much lately. As of 8/30/2018, Id say the ones there now are among the better ones Ive met.Cons:-Piedmont energy. Your electric bill will be about twice as much as with Duke energy.-Carpenter Bees. They dont sting, but there are places in Chapel Hill/Carrboro that do a better job of keeping them away from walkways.-Cable and trash are required amenities that cost more than what theyre worth if you purchased on your own.-Roaches. So many roaches. I had to ask for pest control to come by about every 6 months. I think there may have been a nest in the wall of my bathroom?-As nice as maintenance is, it will be 9832 years before they ever respond to your request.-Corporate. They are your typical big company that doesnt care about you, only your money. I also think they have a terrible business model in terms of serving the customer. Im sure theyre great at making money, considering I lived there for 2 years.

The pool looks horrible with green algae when other apt complexes nearby are having BBQs with pristine pools. Part of the front wall on one of 180 apts at building S has fallen down and looks like a safety hazard. The dog poop stations are never emptied and smell terrible and the grounds are not maintained well. Trash, branches and debris are on the sidewalks and grounds constantly. The maintenance men are nice but they are inadequately staffed, I only see a couple trying to deal with all the issues. The wood is rotted on many side rails and balconies and we have carpenter bees that are working away boring into the wood. I can hear little rodents in the walls at times. This apt complex could be soooo beautiful. I love looking out my window at the scenery but the apts and facilities just arent kept up and they are falling apart. I dont believe First Communities understands the magnitude of the issues at 180 BPW apts that need to be addressed. Its ashame.

I know they have changed management so I hope this isnt the case anymore but I had an awful year with them. The rent is not worth it. They use Piedmont electricity which is 20-40% more each month than Duke according to the man who came to do an energy audit from Piedmont after a $200 electric bill (in an apartment with no washer/dryer, one TV, and in which we were always sweating even when AC was set at 68). The water is not through OWASA so it would sometimes be $70 for the one bedroom apartment I lived in after moving when I realized I couldnt afford the larger unit (and finding out I was stuck there no matter what). There were carpenter bees that burrowed in the porch and maintenance never found a way to actually stop it- just a way to fill the hole until they made a new one.But worst of all were the MICE. When I first told them I saw mice in my apartment it took them multiple days to come do anything. Then, they put down 2 mouse traps (the snapping kind) with Skippy Goober peanut butter/jelly combo in it. This was concerning enough since I have a dog. But more concerning was the fact that I would have to dispose of the mice myself. They *kindly* left me a pair of tong things to take care of it myself when I asked about this. Then, a few WEEKS later, they had a professional come. He didnt close up any of the holes I assumed they were coming in from and left 1 trap in 1 place. The mice kept coming. The professional came back and set more of the same useless plastic traps. I never saw him again- let alone figure out what I was supposed to do with these traps in case they did catch a mouse. At this point, i had about a month left in my lease so I gave up and just never opened those cabinets. It started to smell but I grew to dread speaking with the leasing office so much that I just stopped trying and learned to live with it.If you do rent here, dont forget your 60 day notice!!! Even if you have a mouse infested apartment, they assume you are going to the (significantly higher) month-to-month rate and will insist they left you the legally required reminder on your door that must have blown away.

Submitted a simple work order June 17 2017 and as of today July 11th 2017 the work order has still not been completed. Needless to say the turn around time for maintenance issues is not acceptable. Will file an official complaint with first communites property management also regarding the inefficient leasing office.

If you are reading this, save yourself and look elsewhere.Though the 1-star rating of hated it seems a little harsh, it has become the reality. As a current and new resident, I wish someone had told me to look elsewhere. Since moving here, living in a 78-80 degree apartment has become just the way it is because the buildings are old, have thin insulation, older window that dont seal very well and that is just what the maintenance supervisor told me. Our AC is working properly but apparently I just dont understand how the unit works, or the fridge for that matter. My concerns have just been disregarded when interacting with maintenance and excuse me for thinking that paying over $200 a month in electricity that powers the AC that can only manage to cool us to that glorious 78 degrees is a little absurd.Work on your customer service and interactions with your clientele. Dont be dismissive and condescending. And maybe, just maybe, offer apartments that function.

Hello my name is jeffrey dugan i wanted to put a of my piece of mind in on this apartment complex so people do not waist there time or money on this place my girlfriend and i applied at this complex about 6 months ago we paid all the fees upfront just to find out we were 150 off making the income ratio we just applied again yesterday (11-18-15) we were upfront about my background both times i have a simple affray from when i was 17 and a pwis2 from when i was 21 i am 29 yrs old now i have not been in any trouble sense those times and have print outs of my background to prove it so when my girlfriend applied for us yesterday they said that the background was a problem when 6 months ago the only problem we had was the income ratio so why all of a sudden its the background. my advice to anyone who has turned there life around or are in the process of doing it should not apply here this place does not believe in giving a person a second chance they will only give you an excuse on why they decided to keep your money.

We lived with a hole in our floor for over three months before somebody came to fix it. We had to repeatedly beg for somebody to come fix it but each time we were told that they had no record of us informing them of the giant hole in the ground. Then they fired the whole staff so that never looks good for a company. The pool has not been open all summer. They keep saying that the inspector is coming tomorrow. Funny thing is that after five or six times asking and getting the same response, the pool is still closed. Maybe they dont know what the word tomorrow means? They force you to buy cable and I assume they are about to force us to pay for internet even if you dont want it.

We started out when the management was chelsea commons. We paid our deposit the day before and asked if we needed to do anything else and they said no. Came at 9am the next day to get our keys and they told us we couldnt since we never signed a lease. Had to wait until 1pm to get our keys which meant we were still moving at midnight.Told them we didnt want their washer and dryer and they promised to have them out but when we moved in they were still there. They sat in our living room for a week until we complained enough for someone to come.Had a bathroom facet that leaked hot water constantly and we put in numerous work orders. The issue finally resolved itself and then a month later maintaince stopped by to fix the issue. With the change in management came even more problems. They left a note saying that there was discrepancies in our kease and we needed to sign it again, 8 months after living there. When we went to sign it we asked if we owed any money and they told us no. Got home an hour later to a note on our door saying we owed $85. When we asked why they said it was for cable and trash which is suppose to be included. But dont worry, they took cable and trash included off their site so you cant actually prove it unless you have your original lease which they never gave us. So we started paying for cable and trash that we never use anyways. We decided to get out when our lease was up. We did our 60 day notice and started asking for copies of all the paper work and rent checks. They tried to charge us the full amount for May even though our lease was up the 19th. We moved out the 5th just to get away quick. When asked if we could have the water bill taken out of our deposit the manager said we never paid a deposit. We paid a deposit of $100 when we moved in. When asked what it had been for, she couldnt give a straight answer. All in all, this experience was awful. The management is unprofessional, disorganized and all they want to do is take as much money out of you as they can without actually helping you.

Constantly changes property management with consistently inconsistent service to residents. Putting in a work order comes with making several contacts with property staff before being able to put the order in. From there it takes days-weeks for maintenance to even get to your unit, often times they can’t fix it and state that they have to order parts. When attempting to reach out and check on the status on when something is going to be fixed staff are often rude and shoo you away like you’re a hinderance to them. You have a dryer that’s broke? Good luck getting it fixed while your home starts to become filled with dirty clothes because you can’t clean them or take them to a laundry mat because your schedule is consumed by work to pay for the outrageous rent hike. Also the laundry mat that they have on site for residents does not work either, the card readers for the dryers don’t work and they have (since the last time I went in there) removed the coin slot and box and when I inquired about it I was given absolutely no reason as to why the dryers were not working. I guess I’ll just have to hang my clothes and towels over the railing to dry while I wait for things to be fixed. All in all 1/5 for customer service for residents and poor attitude of property staff. However, there is one staff member who has always been super nice and a pleasure to work with, I can’t remember her name but she usually sits at the desk on the left side near their closet for packages, she rocks 5/5.

Summary: Cheap and good location, but you get what you pay for. I wouldnt rent here again.Location: The complex is right off of Smith Level Rd just outside of Carrboro, great for anyone who frequents Chapel Hill/Carrboro. Also just a few mins to 15-501, and Hwy 54 bypass. J line has multiple stops in the area.Cost: The rent is lower than most places around, even than the other placess on BPW Club Rd and Rock Haven. Move-in costs/deposits were low as well. You are required to pay $50 for basic cable from TWC and that does NOT cover internet access.Size:Good:The apt we lived in was a 3 bedroom and it was a decent-sized space for the price. Living room was large, the master bed was big with a walk-in closet and bath en suite. The 2 smaller bedrooms could have been bigger. The kitchen was decent but could’ve used some updates.Bad:There is a patio/storage area, but due to the location of the building it was essentially useless.Appliances:Good:The microwave, stove, and fridge were all old but worked well enough. There were W/D hookups, so we rented them from a third party.Bad:The water heater is tiny and old and runs out of hot water quickly, disappointing in an apartment designed for three or more people to live in. The dishwasher was a real lemon, it always left residue on our dishes that we had to rinse off ourselves, no matter how many times we cleaned it. It was just old and we figured the mgmt was not going to replace it so we never brought it up. The AC/heat never seemed to work very efficiently due to a combo of the unit being old and the apt having very, very poor insulation.Comfort:Bad:First, house centipedes w/in the 1st 2 months. Called maint., they came and sprayed literally 2 spots and had to come back multiple times. Finally we killed enough that they went away for the most part. Then we had spiders, which we killed on our own b/c the exterm. was clearly useless. Then we had carpenter ants! We managed to kill those with traps and shoes but we had to work our way down the freaking food chain of insects to have an apartment free of bugs. Why? Because the building butts up to a swampy area that is constantly wet and shaded. This is also why the balcony was useless, theres no way to keep the bugs off of it.The drains in the shower and bathroom sinks drained slowly no matter how much we cleaned them/put Drain-o in. Then, the major fiasco came. After a storm, we got a leak in our living room ceiling. We called for emergency maintenance. Not one came so we called again the next day. And again. We spoke to Jennifer in the office on every occasion and she lied to us about a contractor being sent. It turns out all the maint. staff had quit or been fired and they had 1 person for the complex. It took 80 days for it to finally be fixed and by then black mold was growing on the ceiling and we were in the process of starting legal action.Staff:Good:There is 1 person in the office who was helpful and honest. Everyone else dropped every ball they ever could have.Bad:The staff changed completely 2 or 3 times in 1 year. Nobody wants to own/run this place? How is that a good sign for current or potential renters? I do not know if Jennifer still works there, but she lied to me on multiple occasions when we were dealing with the leak.Amenities:Good:Not many people use the fitness room so its usually empty.Bad:Nobody cleans/stocks the gym. The laundry facility does work it just has only 2 or 3 machines in it and you have to pay for it with a pay card that costs $5 to get, plus the money to do the laundry.Neighborhood:Good:Our building had a family with small kids and college-aged people in it. I have no real complaints.Bad:The community itself is just neglected. People would double and triple park all the time, people had cars stolen from in the middle of the night. It was very clear that the mgmt company didnt care or have the resources to keep the place in good order.

STAY AWAY!!! My 4 mths there were horrific! The apt upon move-in had so many little problems which varied from sticking doors to a rattling a/c unit which they resolved by sticking a folded piece of cardboard in the frame but I didnt sweat it because the apt was still habitable. The first week I was there I woke up to a flood in the kitchen; the dishwasher had broken although Ive never used it! They ended up replacing it but it was only after I complained about the water seeping out from under the laminate tiles that they brought in the loudest fan to dry the area. My hot water heater broke as week towards the end of my lease and they had to replace it but the new model didnt allow for a full shower before youd run out of hot water! Beware of the ice machine in the fridge! Mine was smelling funky & the ice tasted weird as well so they changed the line to it which resolved the problem. Did I mention smell and taste? When it rains a lot the water coming from the pipes has an obnoxious smell which is why we spent so much money on bottled water. It gets better...a brown spot started forming on the ceiling of the dining room so I called in the leak & mold which had quickly turned from green to black. They closed out the ticket & when I called they said it was because they were going to have someone from the outside look at it on the 24th. They never showed up, the mold got worse & so did my mom who ended up with some sort of respiratory issue and it was only after I threatened to call the health department that they finally showed up. They failed to address the source of the problem & instead sprayed a strong chemical on the ceiling which covered the mold while my mom was there! The fumes were overpowering & one would think they would be courteous to warn her so she would leave the apt even if for a quick walk! After I moved out I returned to retrieve the cable box and saw they had just painted the apt and a light brown spot was beginning to form where they had covered up the mold before. The Wed. before Thanksgiving my mom calls me at work to tell me there is an animal in the closet of the apt & it was trying to claw its way out! Sure enough when I get home there is something in the hot water closet! I called the emergency maintenance number repeatedly until after insisting I finally spoke to the guy on call only to be told they dont do animals & Id have to wait until the following Tuesday! The police responded to the call because animal control doesnt do private property. They were able to get it to go into a hole and they blockaded the door with boxes. It took phone calls to the regional mgr & emails to the VP to ensure this situation was handled. Apparently the squirrels have eaten through the particle board on the underside of the buildings and are living in the crawl space under the apts! This one ate its way all the way up into the hot water heater closet. Can we say UNHEALTHY!Heres another few reasons to avoid this apt complex: 1) you are forced to pay $60/mth for Time Warner cable basic service & $25/mth for valet trash service & you cant opt out. This is not included in the rent price! 3) the HVAC units are so old that it is impossible to maintain a good balanced temp in the apt; some rooms are colder/hotter than others. 4) centipedes and water bugs that come in through the vents & holes throughout the apt to the point it can be called an infestation. Being surrounded by trees is no help. 5) be prepared to be charged twice as much for water and sewer; my bill for two ppl was almost $80 a month & I had to request adjustments every month. I was even billed the first month the same amount for one week of service. I consulted Owasa and was told the average family of three consumes 4k gallons a month which is equivalent to approximately $40/mth 6) Mold, mold and more mold just grows all along the interior of all the windows. The windows are always moist and drafty. On a good note, the staff is nice but I feel corporate is the problem since the complex is understaffed for its size. Be warned!
