Todd is a genuine honest to goodness good human being and mechanic!I was going through town and in a bind with my air conditioning unit that was not draining properly. The interior of the car was wet and the steering was making noise while turning.Card shop is very busy but he was kind enough to understand my situation and got me in first thing in the morning on a Monday. His mechanic Garrett was able to get to the clogged air condition drain hole and able to clear the clog. His actions return the car to normal.Thank you to Todd for his kindness and generosity and getting me to the top of the list because of the dire situation I was in.. you are a very kind gentleman and a greatly appreciate how you treated another fellow human being with courtesy and compassion. Ive taken my car to them numerous times and theyve been prompt and professional every time. I had an accident most recently and did damage totalling a little over 1,100. With my last mechanic, if Id told him to fix that he wouldve had my car for a month but todays technology had my car fully repaired in 3 days. Im definitely pleased with the service Ive received so far and will continue to return.

As a student, it has been tough finding a trustworthy auto shop. Todd was incredibly helpful! After calling to secure availability, I arrived to a simple check in and left expecting to wait at least a few days. However, my car was ready by the end of day! Whatever technology was used must’ve been excellent, because the issue they discovered had not been discovered by one of Carbondale’s highest rated mechanics. Their diagnostic test revealed a malfunctioning water pump and an incorrect cap on the reservoir (placed by previously used mechanic). After fixing these things and performing an oil change, I was called the SAME DAY for pick up. Keep in mind, the most highly rated mechanic in Carbondale had my car for a third of the fall semester and charged me nearly $1000 and issues continued popping up... Today’s Tech had my car running smoother than I’ve felt it in a long time for a little over $400. Sure, that’s expensive for a student, but compare 1 day + 400 to 18 days + 1000. Yeah... excellent service. AND Todd talked me through every issue which helped me learn my car so much better! It’ll be my first call if another issue arises.Also, if you’re a student, check out your local auto parts stores when you’re looking for a mechanic! Auto Zone hooked me up with this place!

I brought my car in for the emergency brakes to be fixed. After getting it back my regular brakes were grabbing while i was driving which lead me to drive off the road onto the edge of a steep drop. When I brought my truck back in the next day and came to pick it up they explained that fixing the emergency brake tightened my normal brake and it should have been checked before it was ever given back to me... I was upset because I and a coworker were almost seriously injured by this mistake and incompetence which cost me over 300 dollars.. The owner was trying to hide in his office while I discussed the issue with his employees and eventually, reluctantly came out from the one corner I could not see.. Eventually he brought the mechanic out that worked on my car so he could solely blame him.. Although I was only interested in talking to the owner at this time... Overall this was a horrible experience and I never want to contribute to the success of a business with such low moral fiber again.

We have been taking our vehicles here for well over a year now, and these guys always do a great job of diagnosing and servicing our cars. They communicate the diagnosis and any estimate on your vehicle before they do the work. Costs are reasonable. I appreciate that they always get our vehicle in and out as quickly as possible.

Steve was incredibly helpful and personable when helping me with an alternator replacement. They had a number of cars in and were still able to have mine done by the end of the day. Also the rides back to campus is infinitely helpful!

Very knowledgeable, dont try to rip you off

They did a great job and got my car back on the road.

I brought my car in to get an exhaust leak fixed along with a power steering solenoid and brake pad wear sensor. I stated to the tech that a new sensor was in the trunk of the vehicle, yet he replaced a sensor that didn’t need to be replaced. (Coolant sensor) Today’s Technology charged me for the labor on both jobs when I specifically stated the sensor was in the trunk and when I called so they can fix the issue, I was still charged. The coolant sensor didn’t need to be replaced, and I never asked for them to replace the coolant sensor. They also wanted to tell me it was “the sensor the tech found” and yet one sensor was in the trunk and the other was in the glove box. They do not wish to take care of their own mistakes, and will charge you for any mistakes they make.

I took my BMW here about an idrive problem, I was previously “quoted” $1300 at The Auto Shop in Carbondale who told me i needed to replace the whole controller and module to the computer system. Todays technology fixed my problem for WAY WAY below that price. Come to find out the whole thing didn’t need to be replaced it was just dirty. These guys are awesome and honest, I highly recommend this place!

I have altered my review after a more recent experience. I gave 2 stars before but have upped it to 4. Please see my most recent experience at the end of this review, but first read why I quit going to them and am still somewhat dubious. I think the quality of work may depend on which mechanic you get.Weve been going to this shop for about five years because they were recommended by our previous mechanics when those guys decided to get out of the business. At first Todays Technology seemed okay although a friend who started with them at the same time had some bad experiences with work not being well done, and she ended up going somewhere else. Now were having the same problem. They did a valve cover gasket job for us less than a year ago and that had to be re-done. Fortunately, they honored their warranty and did not charge us for the rework. However, I have found other instances of poor work, such as obvious leaks that someone should have easily spotted, but that were never mentioned to us and not corrected by them. On another one of their repairs they left a tool in the engine compartment (near the fan, which could have been a major disaster) and did not re-connect the fog lights or side markers after putting the bumper back on. When we brought these issues to their attention they did not seem overly concerned. The last straw for me was when I noticed my wifes car using a lot of oil after the last oil change. When I checked the oil filter, turns out it was not even tight, just tight enough so the gasket just contacted the flange, a mistake that just flabbergasts me. After I tightened it correctly to specs, it is now not using oil. Other people seem to have had good experiences with Todays Technology. Maybe whoever has been working on our car has too much work to do the job correctly or perhaps just doesnt care anymore. In any case, it looks like well be going elsewhere for our auto service also.NEW EXPERIENCE: Recently my wifes car would not start and she was only about a mile from their shop. She didnt want to tow the car 20 miles to a new shop were trying, so she decided to give them another chance. As it turned out we actually had an incredibly good experience with them doing some excellent diagnostic work to figure out the cause of her no-start problem. I was very impressed as the cause was not an obvious one, but apparently they figured it out correctly as shes not had the problem since. However, the mechanic who did the work this time was apparently a different one than the one weve had before, so beware that it may make a difference who works on your car. Anyway, Ive now upped my rating to 4 stars from the 2 I gave originally.

I can’t say enough good things about the team here, they made sure to repair the long list of items we had for our vehicle and even some we had forgotten to put on the list; drivers side headlight replacement. They are actually fixing my ac issue an gas gauge issue on my chevy I like that they find out first whats the problem then proceed if you want it fixed I feel like they will get me together right an they also found a gas tank leak I knew nothing of highly recommended

Taken three different cars to them. Never had an issue. Customer service is outstanding and the work is done when promised. They give written estimates on any work they do and will contact for permission if anything is needed outside of that - as opposed to the old it will run you somewhere in the neighborhood of... Very honest, highly recommend.

I fully trust Todays Technology to not only service my vehicle but given me a fair price. Theyre one of the few locally owned auto shops in the area and as a result, the owner really cares about the work he does. They have great customer service and know what theyre doing.

Charged me 40$ for something I already knew. Would not recommend. They literally flip a switch and thread a hose on my resivor and smoke a cigarette thats 40$. Total rip. These guys are good at overpricing so they make a hefty profit off you. Have fun.

Really great work fair price and nice people here! They helped find out the wheel slightly bent which gives me stiff steering and braking vibration, which cant be found by the professional tire shop. The problem is perfectly solved and the price is absolutely fair, highly recommend this place!

Had a service engine light come on while on vacation here. Was going to go to dealer shop but thought I would give these guys a try , very glad I did ! On Thanksgiving Day driving to a friend’s for dinner, the sunroof on my car exploded 45 miles from home leaving a huge hole. I made it home safely, and early the next day, I called Today’s Technology to see if they could place a “patch” over the hole until I could get it fixed permanently. Within 15 minutes, Today’s Tech’s experts placed a temporary “patch” that allowed me to drive faster than 35 mph. When I took the car to a leading St. Louis auto dealer for warranty repair, the first thing the service manager said was “Who did that professional patch work—it is amazing how it worked for you.” Yes, indeed, Today’s Technology consistently performs by their motto—“We fix cars and keep people happy.” I am elated to have access to Today’s Technology’s professionals.

The office staff and mechanics all demonstrated courtesy, respect, professional expertise and integrity. They had an opportunity to persuade me into $1300- 1400 worth of work on my dying car but they applied no pressure and were validating and supportive of my allowing the car to die. I have taken my care to Todays Technology many times and I have always very happy with the repairs to my car as well as the amazing customer service! Since moving away from Carbondale a month ago I had some issue with a new mechanic in Virginia and called to get advice from Todays Technology because I knew I could trust their opinion. Bill was so very helpful and gave me great advice (even though I was hundreds of miles away and there was nothing in it for him!) If I ever move back to the area I know Ill trust Todays Technology with my car repairs!

One of our windshield wipers wasnt working before a long trip on December 23rd and they squeezed us in to repair it at less than I was expecting it to cost. Ill be recommending this place to friends and family.

Terrible services in most cases.Customer service when dropping off car was pretty good. I described the two problems concerning my window needing to be reset and door handle for the outside driver needs replaced. They said they would fix both and give me a call. Upon receiving the call they only fixed the window and forgot or miscommunication that they needed to fix my door handle. They charge me for disassembling the door and fixing the window. They said they can go back and fix theyre mistake but still charge me for the process again but for the door handle. Upon looking at the invoice for the car part for my door handle they charged me double the price it would cost me to order the part myself from the dealership. Be very cautious on how much they charge you. I saved myself $500 doing it myself rather the. Having them charge me $200 for the part and $300 for the service for theyre mistake of not doing it correctly the first time. Poor excuse for pricing of parts and not satisfying me for failing to complete what I wanted for them to do the first time.

Always treat us well...very patient and knowledgeable and they stand behind their work. Fair pricing as well and they look for ways that you can reduce costs rather than trying to upsell like many others.

Everything was great with this company. I broke down on the side of the road at night. And I was towed and had my car fixed and back at my place by 11 the next day. For everything it was only $105. Very nice very polite people. Even picked me up to come get my car from the shop.

This was exceptional in my experience in dealing with auto repair shops. My husbands Silverado blew a brake line. Todays Tech took a look and quoted him $400+ to repair, which he agreed to. This was a Thursday afternoon. By Monday afternoon it was ready to go. They charged only $307! HONEST and QUICK....why take a chance with anyone else!?

Great Service! I needed the power window regulator replaced on my pickup truck. I had an extended warranty and could have taken it to the dealer, but every time I did it took an extra day to get the paperwork done so I could the work paid for. This time, I talked to the service writer at Todays Technology and described the problem. He confirmed that I needed the regulator assembly. He ordered the part from the dealer and made an appointment for me to have it replaced. I took my truck in and in about 1 hour they had it done. Then I thought it would be a hassle getting the paperwork through the warranty company, but they had it all worked out. I just paid my deductible and was on my way. Job well done! Great customer service!

I have a Honda Element, a Suzuki Samurai and a Ford F350 diesel truck. I have taken all of them to Todays Technology and I have been pleased with the results. They are on time, careful with my vehicles, reasonable in their prices and thoughtful with me and my wife. I recommend them unreservedly.

Had nothing but positive experiences with this shop. In Carbondale area that is saying a LOT as most of the repair places are horrid. They give written and fair estimates on work and will contact you for permission if they find something that costs even a few dollars more so there are never any surprises. They complete the work on time when they promise they will and they happily give you a lift to and from work. I am a big believer in supporting small independently owned shops and these guys are doing everything right. No complaints here - would definitely recommend!

I had my bearing wheels fixed here at minimum cost around the area. They gave me the cost and i compared to other repair shops costs, but Todays Technologies price was the one cheapest. Also, they are very polite and on time. Thank you, Todays Technology!

It is so comforting to have such high-character, polite and sincere auto repair employees. Being very ignorant when it comes to vehicles, I have often had to guard myself from being taken advantage of. The owner & staff here are wonderful. I had several problems with my car that made me very worried. Both turned out to be simple switches that were turned off. They could have easily charged me whatever they wanted for the repair and I wouldnt have known the difference. Instead, after kindly driving me home & picking me up, they showed me where the switches were in case it happened again. Todays Technology has my business for all future auto needs!

I came here because of all the great reviews but was sadly taken advantage of. I came in to get a simple battery change which ended up being about 360$ I didnt know that this price was considered an over charge until recently but that’s not where the issue was after I received my car back my radio and ac/heat would not cut on I brought it back they said it was probably just a blown fuse they fixed it gave the car back but my ac/heat would still not cut on so I Told them they and they said they would take care if it peobobly another blown fuse they gave me a call the next day saying my entire until needed to be replaced and it would cost 461$ ,mind you my car is a 2015 Chevy that never had any problems with the heat or air before the battery change I told them I can’t afford it which I can’t they attempted to charge me 83$ for looking at my ac/heat not fixing what was never broke before the battery change but just for looking at it. I didn’t end up not having to pay the 83$ after letting them know I can’t pay for it but now I’m riding around without ac/heat unit and all I needed was a battery change.

Always happy to give you a ride home and back to pick up your car. Everyone is very knowledgeable and willing to help you with any questions or problems you may be having. They are very kind and willing to explain things to you and get the minimum to get back on the road.

These folks are exceptional in customer service and resolving technical issues. Also, their honesty is unmatched. I hear this consistent groaning noise from my Honda Accord each time am driving, and it get worse when I make a turn. I contacted my Honda dealership and was told either the cv axle or steering power pump was the issue. I immediately budgeted a substantial sum to fix the problem since I declined to buy the overly expensive after sale warranty/service from the dealership. I made some inquiries locally, and visited a store that referred me to Todays Technology Auto Repair (TTAR) store. Rob, the guy that checked my car in was very friendly and welcoming. They wowed me with their free customer drop-off and pick-up service. The problem was fixed in record time. Rob called and sent their staff to pick me up. I was charged a paltry sum (< $40) for the repairs. I couldnt believe that these folks basically fixed my car for free, when a car shop I contacted earlier for inquiry gave me a quotation of ~$100 just to inspect the car. Going forward, I will stick with TTAR for all auto services. They have earned my trust with their superior, honest, and excellent service. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEIR SERVICES!!!

I havent had any problems that they didnt fix including any issues with hearts that was ordered and came in and those if you use the parts that they purchased for 10% markup if you have an issue with those parts they will replace the part for free and the labor is free because thats how they do a warranty with their stuff I had a radio which I didnt even think about it has probably just blown a fuse but it went out on me earlier this week and theres no power going through and my phone wont charge because of it but I also have some other issues that I decided to go ahead and make up a list my overhead dome lights I cannot turn on because the switch wore out a couple years ago the cruise control is starting to stick so either the switch is going out or it has acquired so much dirt in there that its not starting to work its not wanting to turn on and then its not wanting to turn off without me having to touch the brake and smog electronic things that for $70 an hour for labor I was like okay that oughta be enough to at least have them go through and clean stuff that I shouldnt cant and wont cuz Im not going to play mechanic because I dont know what Im doing🎩

We were on our way to Georgia and our vehicle broke down 6 hours into the trip. We started having car problems 30 miles north of Carbondale, IL. Thanks to smart phones we found a Mazda dealer. They could not accommodate us until later in the afternoon. The Mazda dealer highly recommended Todays Technology. Todays Technology was God sent. Rob the General Manager was very accommodating. He fit us into their schedule. Rob did a thorough inspection and came back with paper work in hand showing how our make of a vehicle has a recall on the parts. Unfortunately we did fall into the requirements due to our mileage. Rob found us a part and had his amazing crew fix our vehicle in a well responsible price. We were expecting to get robbed since we were out of town. Rest assure Todays Technology is a well run establishment you can trust.Get this!! While our vehicle was getting serviced the owner Todd gave us a tour of the near by College campus. S.I.U. Why because we mentioned our daughter will be going to college in the next year. What kind of an individual would take time from his business and drive a family he never met around?!! Ill tell you what kind!! An individual with a big heart and cares for others. We took our truck in for an oil change, and told them we had just bought the truck and the seller said that there was no thermostat in it and so asked how much it would cost to have one put in. Jeremy told me that the most likely reason for there to not be a thermostat the truck was because there was a blown head gasket. He asvised me to has a test done to make sure the head gasket was ok, and that it would run me around $110. they ran the test and they said the head gasket was blown, but they had another thing they do to try to fix it but it would cost another $350, it took them two days of getting around to even performing this test which my husband super stressed out wondering if this possible fix would work. They said it worked and said we need the serpentine bell replaced also which would be another $90...they kept trying to say new things were wrong and charging us more than they originally quoted us.... And wer unable (refused) to give us any receipts for the parts they say they replacedDo not go here they will price gouge you and try to get you to fix more than is broken

Todays Technology Auto Repair shop is by far the most professional and empathetic and deeply caring establishments in Carbondale. My son is a college student at SIUC, and had saved for quite some time to purchase his first vehicle. After driving his car to school this summer and being a novice at providing maintenance, he inadvertently caused his car to suffer a locked engine. Having reached out to Todays Technology for a prior unrelated repair, I encouraged my son to seek diagnositic assessment from them. Mr. Bill was the wonderful gentleman who had given my son assistance both times and unfortunately it was determined that the engine to my sons car was locked! As those of you knowledgeable about cars know, my son no longer had a car. The cost of replacing the engine with a new or rebuilt one would simply be too expensive. The total GENUINE care , accommodation and quality of care given to my son was impeccable! The owner of the shop was very professional and nice and their pricing is economical and quite fair.
