Great place to float beware we went August 2021 water very low! The water is very COLD all the time! So if you DONT like cold water dont take your butt to the Guadalupe River!

Girls were nice at register. Line was extremely long. 2 hours to pay for tubes. They could have atleast warned us there was a second line waiting for tubes that took another hour and we ended up using our own tubes to speed up process. Just a warning would have been nice. And then after waiting all that time on then they started blowing up more tubes from storage 🤦🏻‍♀️ prices have gone up to $20 tube rentals now 🙄Black tubes are horrible to ride. Yellow ones were fine. No one warned us about tons of rocks and rapids areas. Kinda stressful when you have a larger group your trying to keep together.Water is super cold so be ready for a shock.

People were nice. We went on a Tuesday, so it wasn’t crowded. Girl at the counter said not to come on the weekend. We got a discount on the visit because they couldn’t provide shuttle service. Shuttle isn’t necessary in my opinion because the walk to the river is only about 150 yards. Great experience. I’ll be back!!

Pay once shuttle how many times you want. Tubes are clean and nice.

Charged the same amount whether you used their shuttle or walked. Took 25mins to get a wristband. Bus took us right around the corner to their tube rental place which was LITERALLY just as close to the river entrance as where we parked. Same exact distance. Their inflation place was just a few shop vacs. Seriously only paid for the parking lot

They will charge you $18 per person to park. Regardless if you bring your own tube or not. They just care about the money. It would be different if they charged a flat fee just to park. The staff was nice and its not their fault its that way. Its the company. I was very disappointed...

HORRIBLE customer service. We stayed at Mystic Quarry and used The Shanty for tube rental. Worst experience floating the River. We were never told to exit at the horseshoe, our wristband said 4H, upon exit at the 4th crossing our children were locked on the other side of the gate. Scary experience for my kids. All for doing nothing wrong. Sandy the owner is the WORST. I would highly recommend a different tube company

We had a great time. The prices were very reasonable, the location was excellent and the staff were very helpful and pleasant.I would definitely use this outfitter again.The float was great.

If I could give zero stars I would have. DONT RENT YOUR TUBES FROM HERE !!!! You’re better off renting from all of the other tube places. The owner is extremely rude and unprofessional and literally yanked a tube out of my hand once I was done floating without even asking if I was Floating again( which I planned on doing) after telling her I was planning on floating again she gave me the stank face and said “ I can’t tube there anymore” even though the rules say you are allowed to before 8 pm( it was only 4pm) I will not ever be renting/parking here again and will tell everyone I know not to!

Best value for floating the horseshoe. Drivers and staff were pleasant. Took about 2-3 hours to float the horseshoe. Had a blast.

Will not return!!!, everyone in our party had our own tubes. Driver of our party paid for parking and 1 float down the river. Owner came out and a demanded we get off her property once we exited. We stayed on the sidewalk near the property and she demanded that we, get walking. Told her she doesnt own the side walk. Thank God our sober driver didnt pay with a card! Save your money and go across the street and pay less!!!

Probably the worst rafting experience ive had. First half is fine, the second half youre just slamming into rocks and getting stuck.

We floated the horseshoe on July 3, 2018. Shanty Tubes was the 1st place we happened upon when we arrived. Originally we were going to use a different outfitter however we couldnt find them. Shanty Tubes was great. I know it was not busy but they really should have had someone at the hut where the tubes were. It was a little confusing to go to the bar to pay and leave keys. Other than that.. the tubes were in great shape. They had coolers we could rent as well. The short ride to the river was smooth and comfortable. The river was a bit low while we were there but it was still a good float and the water was cold on a 100 degree day. I would use Shanty Tubes again. The rates seem high but are on point for other outfitters. Thanks for helping make for a great afternoon. My only complaint is the lack of cup holders on the tubes. :)

As far as tubing companies go it is decent the only thing I did not like was the walk back up hill 😂

The owner and the workers there are very money driven and find ways to upcharge you any way they can. Been going tubing for a long time and never had a bad experience like I had with shanty tubes

These people are the biggest scammers ever! Paid in advance $75 per person for 4 hour float but when we got there they switched us to the 2 hour float and demanded $120 extra to do the float we paid for after they sent away our private bus.To top it off we called ahead about lockers and were told there some available for a small fee which was a complete lie. We wound up floating with our towles. Avoid this place bring your own tubes and save yourself time and a headache and float the river for free.

Scammers! We stayed at Mystic Quarry and they use The Shanty for their tube service. Nobody told us to get out at the end horseshoe, we floated to the 4th crossing and exited the river at The Shanty sign..we were locked behind the gate while my juvenile children were on the other side. Sandy, the owner would not let us through the gate to my kids. HORRIBLE experience, they only wanted to try to get another $10 per person. But nobody told us where to get out. I would pick a different tube company.

These people are rude and lazy. Of course you pay enough for the tube rental to buy a replacement tube if you damage yours. But these people have the nerve to ask you to leave a hotel key or The key to your vehicle as a deposit. Totally unreasonable and unacceptable.

Terrible tubing company... tubes are in poor condition, bad customer service.. not a great section of the river either, as the river temp in this section wont get over 54 degrees most of the summer Poor customer service, as they cuss and harass people who disagree with them, then make outlandish statements. Honestly, looked like a family of meth heads when they were all gathered together cursing at me. Weve had much better experiences down stream at Rockin R and Lonestar float house. I wish there was a chance for zero stars.Also, the total lack of care for the environment is disheartening, especially since this 4 mile stretch of the Guadalupe is the only water of any river in Texas that rainbow trout can live year round(water is cold enough coming out of the Canyon Lake dam). We were never offered a trash bag for the float, even though we rented a cooler. Also, they are advertising no can ban at their entrance.

Brought my own tubes and paid for a extra but still had to pay tube fees I get it were using your shuttle but for 2 people paying 60 bucks us a lil much

It might’ve been fine but they’re not running shuttles on memorial day so you have to walk and you can’t do the longer float. Plus they don’t tell you that so you pay you get ready to go and then all of a sudden they tell you how there’s no Shuttle, you have to walk

River is SUPER COLD. Went on a Wednesday and hardly any people. Kept our distance. Theyre not getting 5☆ due to personnel not exhibiting any sort of distancing or protective actions against Covid, didnt bother to wear a mask and were right up on cars windows when speaking- luckily they were friendly. 2$ paid to inflate our tubes. Water was very low 8/2020 so we took 4hrs to float. Very pretty. Our dog was shivering from the cold but with her life vest, she just kept swimming lol

Perfect Location! Their location is located inside of a horseshoe of the river. That means that you park inside of the horseshoe and float from one side to the other. The whole time, youre not far from your car. So, theres not a huge walk or ride back! All of the staff were completely pleasant and I wouldnt hesitate to return to Shanty!

Friendly helpful staff that had a sense of humor

They were nice here. Its a more primitive setting for camping with tents or a step above cabin with a fantastic AC and bed. The cabins do not have anything in them but the bed and air conditioning however these facilities are on the premises within a a few feet so its just like camping at the lake. Primitive but still good if you like roughing it a little like we do sometimes. The little cabin was perfect for chilling by a fire and floating the river. For the price and location you cant beat it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They worked with us on check in time as well. I would recommend them. Just remember that parking is a tad crowded and bring your own linens and ice chest for food.

Me and my girls meet here a couple of times a season to play on the river. Its convenient and the people are friendly.

My husband and I had previously rented kayaks here in May and had no problems so when our family came to visit over the summer, and had gifted us a nice 6 person tube; we came here again. My mother-in-law went up to pay while we applied sunscreen to the kids and came back visibly upset. She was asked by the person working how many was in our party and she told them 10 people, but that we only need to rent four tubes for the adults.. because 6 kids would fit into our personal tube. They charged for parking fees $70 for two vehicles (which on their website had no mention of) and charged her $18 per person, whether you rent their equipment or not. When I asked them about this they said its for the two minute transportation ride to and from the side of the road where they drop you off. I then asked for a refund for one car and 6 people since I could go park in a nearby lot that only charges $10 for parking, and its not even a 2 minute walk to the river bed. (Maybe a 10 minute walk back.) Then they started arguing with me and said that they owned the river (yes they actually told me this) I laughed and when I asked how they could own a state river, they then said they own that section of the property where everyone enters and exits the river, (a bridge that crosses a river is a legal access point) and ALL people who were tubing that day, even from other rental places, got on and off the river there. Save your money if you have your own equipment and drive 2 minutes down the road because they will not refund you after youve paid and they get aggressive. Pretty sure they were pocketing the parking fees as well since she was paying with cash. All around very rude service and very shady.

This place was awesome! Totally unlike my experience last week at the place next door. Sandy was more than accommodating as some of our needs deffinitely through them out of their typical routine. Their prices were great. Thank you so much, we will be back and we highly recommend this place.

Made the dumb mistake of buying a waterproof phone pouch here and they do NOT seal, also no refunds, so just don’t make the mistake i did :P

Tom our driver was amazing! We were picked up in New Braunfels and our tubes were reserved for us even though everyone else had run out of tubes. Totally worth the $30 per person to have the VIP treatment! We have rented from Shanty for years in the past and will continue to do so!

Google said they opened Saturday at 8:00, but they open at 9:00. Still, they let us rent tubes at 8:25 and found someone to drive us to the starting point on the Horseshoe. We did the four hour float: about two hours to the end of the Horseshoe and another 2.5 hours to the 4th Crossing Bridge. Someone was there already to take our tubes and, thought there was just five of us, shuttle us back. Decent service all around. Decent tubes. Good prices. I’d use them again.

Rude staff! We parked and used our own tubes not knowing they were gonna charge $18 a person for us to park there to use us our own tubes. We had a total of seven people and one car the total to park one car Was $126. That is bs!!! New York doesn’t even charge that much for parking. Not that that was the problem the rudeness from the staff was the problem. WILL NEVER GO HERE!!! Go to white water rent their tubes spend a little more money and have a great time we have done that many times. They have great, nice staff, and it’s always a great time at white water.

We stayed at Shantys camp site this past weekend. Our campsite had plenty of room for 6. The camp site location was great. Unfortunately there was a burn ban and campsite was dusty and dry. The water was great, a little crowded on Saturday. Crystal and other staff was awesomely friendly! Thanks for answering all my calls when I had questions. I called another location near by and the lady hung up on me when I was asking questions about the area. Crystal even took my number and called me back when she was not as busy. Thank you Shantys. The people at whitewater sports were rude and snotty. We plan to come back!

Im from CA and was there a few weekends ago with my wife. I had a good experience with the staff, rental shack, and the tube.Had a great time on the river, water was low but still was a good ride. After the uphill dusty walk up to the busy street, there was a shuttle bus with a friendly driver to take us back to the parking lot in no time! Will come back again for sure.

Make sure to hide your belongings. My car was broken into here and my purse stolen.

This is the best tubing outfit on the Horseshoe. The prices are competitive, but its the service that makes the difference. When calling for prices, the other tubing outfitters bashed each other. The last time I went tubing here, my fiancee, being petite, floated past me & accidentally missed the exit point. 2 Shanty employees left the stand, got in the vehicle, & went with me to help find her! That is excellent service.

Could be priced better if you brought your own tubes. The river was pretty low and extremely rocky during second half. Restaurant took an hour to get a grilled sandwich and tots out.

I was refused service because I made a comment to the people in my party that it was redundant to sign the form in two places. The female staff member tried to explain why, but I wasnt talking to her so I just told her I got it. She continued to butt I to a private conversation and I continued to tell her I got it and I was going to sign the form twice. She then refused service because I had a slight attitude. I never cussed or yelled. I have always floated the river using shanty tubes, but from here on out I will no longer give them my business. They lost $100 plus dollars today and $100 plus dollars every time I float the river.

Just left Shanty tubes with my family of 5 and had a GREAT experience! It was nice that they had a teacher discount. We got there when they opened on a Sat, and didnt have to wait for long when we checked in or out. Staff was very polite. We had planned on going to another tube place originally, and Im glad we chose Shanty Tubes!

Great customer service! Nice people & detailed instructions! We did the 2 hr Horseshoe trip, but it took us 5 hours due to wind & our stops of relaxation. Shanty was worried about us bc we took so long & they were looking for us as well as calling our cell phone. We felt so bad about being late, but its nice to know they care & were taking safey precautions for their customers. We will tube Shanty again!!!

We visited these guys yesterday afternoon. The girls at the counter were really friendly, fun and sweet. They have discounts if your military, student or medical professional, which was great!!.. the walk from the Shanty II to the closest river entrance was very short. On our way out, we got picked up by the shuttle. The driver was really nice and friendly as well. Shanty II has a snack schack with fajita tacos, roasted corn, sausage on a stick, etc... They also have showers so we were able to rinse off before getting in the vehicle. We will definitely be coming back!!

Great customer service. The tubes were not great. My boyfriends popped after the 1st rapids and so did our friends. We did get a discount for having a student with us. That was awesome and we didnt have to pay for the popped tubes. Just wish the tubes would have been sturdy.

Stay away. Bad experience and the management does not care. Exit from the river was like a scene out of Schindlers List...two angry employees and two paid cops greeting you with hostility as you get out of the water. They completely are expecting negativity and no surprise when thats the attitude they give off after a long float. Good company if you dont have to interact with any of the staff. Warning to all veterans and people who know expect to be treated with dignity and respect.

Every year we have a family reunion and this is one of the things we try and do all together. The first part was very slow and relaxing. Then it picked up and had little mini Rapids and rocks and kind of caught us newbies off guard! We had one person whose tube popped which was VERY inconvenient but we worked around it, they did offer vouches for free tubes as compensation. We went during off hours so it wasnt very busy which was nice. We were very happy we went with people who had done it before because it could be kind of confusing/disconcerting if you didnt have someone more experienced. Would not recommend for very young kiddos, the 10 year old was a little bored during the first slower part but enjoy the second part immensely!

Ride to and from was easy. One thing to note is that the long ride DOES NOT INCLUDE THE HORSESHOE. They told us to enter at the end of the horseshoe so I was kind of disappointed that we missed what others have called the party section of the river.

Really bad experience. The customer service and employees were awful and rude. I have floated down the river many times with different companies and Shanty Tubes was by far the worst. Very disorganized and not worth the money. Do not recommend.

Left us sitting by the side of the river for 45 minutes while watched all the other tube rental companies picking up their customers (and no, this wasnt at a peak time) Also noticed that our kayaks were old and worn out especially when compared to Rio Rafts. We dont plan to try Shanty again.

Sha was the bomb. She picked us up at Log Cabins at Jacobs Creek and took us right to Shanty 2 to get right in the river and told us to call when we got out and ask for her and she was right there to pick us up and take us right back to our cabin. Personalized service at no extra cost. Cant beat it! Totally worth the cost for all day tubing with a driver

Some of the most fun Ive had in Texas. Tubes are not cheap though - $20 to rent and you can buy a two person tube with a built in cooler at Walmart for $40. Either way though, highly recommend this whole area for great family fun.

The float was okay but the staff was wildly unprepared to handle more than 1 customer at once. Waited ages just to pay to float even though we all brought our own tubes and then was accused of being pregnant because of weight by the staff because I’m overweight. Would not recommend. Felt extremely disrespected and the float was mediocre at best. Not worth the $$

Great friendly staff. Later hours then most locations in the area and quality tubes with bottoms. It was $75.00 for two adults and one child
