Jonathan and Red were spectacular! Jonathan was very easy to communicate with, and went the extra mile to help plan a surprise engagement. Was blown away with how beautiful the boat was. Memories we will never forget. Great experience! Can’t wait to sail with him again! Highly recommend!

This was an absolutely unforgettable experience and is a must do activity if you’re traveling to Burlington. I contacted Captain Jonathan with the idea of proposing to my girlfriend on a private sunset cruise and it could not have gone any better. His knowledge of sailing and even his photography expertise made it the best possible experience for us. 10/10 would recommend for anyone looking for a good time with friends or a special occasion with their significant other.

Highly recommended and an outstanding experience for my family! Our trip was on a hot but breezy summer afternoon. None of us - two parents, two teenage daughters - had much meaningful prior sailing experience. Jonathan is a professional. He took the time to answer questions and curiosities we had about sailing, but left us alone to explore the ship and have fun as a family. We all felt safe, relaxed and had a blast enjoying the ride, dipping our feet over the side into the water, and getting sprayed from the occasional larger wave. Really glad we opted to go with Sail Vermont; it was nice to relax just as a family as we had the entire boat to ourselves. To top it all off, Jonathan captured some incredible pictures of the four of us enjoying the experience.

A family of sailors took my 95 year old father out for an afternoon sail. We could not have asked for a better time. The boat is beautiful, immaculate, and in top condition. The skipper is way over qualified for sailing on this beautiful lake. As a yacht designer I know boats and sailors. Johnathan is no amateur. He is also experienced with people, which is even more challenging. You cannot go wrong. For me he felt like family. My father built his first sailboat by hand at 13. He was enthralled. I expect this will not be our last time.

This private sailing charter was worth every $$. Jonathon was a fantastic captain and host. We really enjoyed the views of Lake Champlain. Will definitely sail again the next time we are in Burlington.

Had an incredible sunset sailing experience with Jonathan! This is not like other sailing tours in Burlington. Jonathan takes a max of six guests (though on our trip, there was only one other couple for a total of four guests), so its a very intimate experience. You can bring your own snacks and alcohol (or non-alcoholic drinks) to enjoy with the beautiful scenery. The sunset this day over the mountains in Upstate New York and through the rain clouds was absolutely beautiful.Jonathan uses the sails from the very beginning, instead of running the engine like the other sailing tours. We talked with Jonathan, and its very clear how passionate he is about sailing and the water. We really enjoyed his company, but you can also do your own thing and hang out among yourselves (like the other couple did).The prices are a bit higher than the other companies, but like I said, its a completely different experience. It feels much more authentic and real compared to any other tours Ive been on. I would go back and do this again.

Jonathon went above and beyond and worked around our schedule and the weather to make sure we were able to get out on the lake for our anniversary. The boat was amazing and fun to experience the lake. He made sure it was about us and was very accommodating. It was a great experience!

The most incredible experience, I booked a sunset cruise for myself and now Fiancé. I told Johnathan our captain what I had been planning while booking and he went above and beyond to make our experience as special as possible. He went through the trouble of texting me earlier in the day to ease my mind and assure me that we would have a perfect evening. He informed me he had been checking radar, since it had been a bit rough, to help put me at ease. He provided glasses for champagne, speakers and every other accommodation he could. He let me know the perfect time to propose so that we were able to enjoy the ride and get plenty of photos. Absolutely incredible experience that I would recommend to any and everyone. We will most definitely be back many many more times in the future. Oh and did I mention he was a wedding photographer? So our engagement photos were absolutely stunning. A million times thank you Johnathan youre the real MVP!

Jonathan’s boat is amazing and he was a perfect captain for our afternoon sail. It is by far the best way to see Lake Champlain. This was our first time visiting Burlington and the sail with Jonathan was not only my favorite part of our trip but also the best day of my life. My boyfriend (now fiancé!) proposed on Jonathan’s boat.Jonathan is also a professional photographer and captured the moment better than I could have ever imagined. It’s a perfect place for a special day, whatever the occasion may be- he makes you feel right at home. The whole day was truly magical and Jonathan’s boat was a key piece of that experience for us. We really didn’t know what to expect (with this being the summer of 2020) We were looking for a private sail on Lake Champlain.Jonathan picked us up promptly on the dock and took us out for the evening. We were 4 + 2 dogs.It was one of the highlights of our summer, beautiful spacious amazing boat and he was a great mix of informative and cool. We had the most amazing time on board Red. I was being surprised for my bachelorette party with a sail on Lake Champlain, originally with a different company. That company is as having engine trouble and was unable to tale us out, they called around and Red was available. We adjusted our sails and headed to Red and we were not disappointed! From start to finish, quality and bliss. Captain Jon was warm and knowledgeable. He is the type of person you want to spend the day with, an instant friend. We were fortunate enough to get a spot to sail on Red this past weekend. What a true delight! The weather was perfect and our Captain, Jonathan, and his crew, made sure that we enjoyed each moment from start to finish. The boat is gorgeous - vintage style, gleaming woodwork, incredibly clean, and has great amenities on board (see bathroom). We were offered cold beverages (n/a) and encouraged to make ourselves comfy in cozy armchairs on the front of the boat to take in the breathtaking views of Lake Champlain. There were only two of us on our sail (lucky us!) but there were so many separate seating areas inside and out, we could see how even a larger group would have private spaces to chat while breezing across the lake. (Very different experience than the other Lake Champlain sails we’ve taken, where you’re crammed in side by side with strangers.) The glorious sail on Red was the highlight of our weekend. Amazing sunset cruise! Intimate setting for our family of 6 - which is max number of guests allowed on this magnificent sailboat. We had plenty of room to sit, walk around, enjoy all the amenities of Red. Our captain, Jonathon, was a gracious host. My husband and I are visiting his family in Vermont , and we thought sailing would be a fun adventure. We got more than we bargained for and it was fantastic. My sister-in-law Kaetlyn was a bit apprehensive about the trip, since there was a chance of some inclement weather. After an hour of gentle , delightful sailing, the wind picked up and we ended up in driving rain with great wind. John , the skipper was quick to reasure Kaetlyn that everything was fine, and even in the storm, she was calm and had a great time. The storm passed, and we had a brisk wind the rest of the sail, and it was awesome . The strong wind quickly dried us off , and we sailed for another hour. John is a very skilled Captain, and very enjoyable to talk to , which made the trip fantastic. Im sure everyone in our group would do this again for another memorable adventure. We really enjoyed our Lake Champlain sailing trip with Captain Jonathan. He got our 7 year old involved and was fun to hang out with. We anchored for a bit and Jonathan broke out the rope off one of the masts for us to swing off of. On top of a great sailing adventure, Captain Jonathan is an awesome photographer. We went out as a family, three generations, and had a glorious sail enjoying the views of the mountains all around and each others company on board. The cockpit was very comfortable with cushions and room to move around, the deck of the boat was open and easy to walk or sit around on, and Jonathan was a relaxed and competent Captain. Red is a beautiful boat inside and out. We all had a great time!

A MUCH overdue review for an absolutely wonderful experience with Jonathan and his crew. I booked a sunset cruise as a last minute surprise for my boyfriend during our anniversary trip to Burlington, VT, and it could not have been any more perfect an experience. The view was breathtaking and the company was so enjoyable. But the cherry on top of the sundae was Jonathan going out of his way to help make our celebration so special. From hatching plans with me for our arrival to surprise my boyfriend, to going out ahead of time to buy a bottle of our favorite bubbly to have on ice, to investing in a (quite comfy) lounge seat/sectional contraption for two that was tied down at the front of the boat for the best view and for privacy, I cant say enough about his kindness and thoughtful approach to his business! At the risk of this review turning into a novel, Ill leave it at this - a trip to Burlington without a trip with Sail Vermont LLC is no trip at all! A big thank you again to Jonathan and crew. We will definitely be back!

By far, this was the best experience we had in Vermont. Captain Jonathan was great at making us feel welcome, and also explained the details of his craft. The sunset over Lake Champlain is nothing short of breathtaking. The boat itself is the perfect size for 2 or 3 couples, leaving everyone to have their own room if they want it. We will book again next time were in Burlington.

Sailing aboard Red on Lake Champlain was the perfect way to appreciate a visit to Burlington. Beautiful scenery in every direction and a friendly experienced crew made for an afternoon that left me smiling. The classic swan and teak deck reinforced my love of sailing. I cant wait to go back!

This was a wonderful experience! I took my father, wife and three kids on board (6, 9, and 11) and they all loved it - as did I! I cant think of a better way to go out on the lake for a tour. The boat is beautiful! Its a classic, and classically beautiful. For those of you not too familiar with these kinds of boats, its something like part classic Porsche or Bentley (a bit more sporty than a classic Bentley, but a little less aggressive and more comfortable than a Porsche) but not so fancy that youd feel uncomfortable having kids on it. Jonathan is a great person and great conversationalist (but by no means intrusive or too talkative - he gets this right) and is simply pleasant and easy to be around. Highly Recommended!

The PRIVATE sunset sail was amazing. It was such a great time and Jon was an amazing captain. Jon makes you feel at home on his home away from home. His pictures a great perk as well. This is a rare find for the price!

Celebrated my husbands 60th birthday on Saturday evening with our kids and close family by cruising on Lake Champlain on Red, a magnificent Swan 43 sailboat.From the time I made the reservation online to the big day sailing on the water, all went incredibly smoothly. Jonathan took my calls, responded promptly to all of my texts and emails with incredible patience, humor and affability.The boat was on time at the dock, in great condition with plenty of room for all of us to spread out. We took off as scheduled and enjoyed a relaxing sail for the next 2 hours on the lake. The boat was well equipped with all of the important amenities; no-spill cups, refrigerator, ice, comfy seating and a clean head.Jonathan was a wonderful host who shared some great boating stories while also letting our family enjoy our time together, discretely taking candid photos for us to remember the day by.I highly recommend Jonathan and Sailvt. Perfect for any age group (ours was a mix of 20 year olds, middle aged folks and my 86 year old mother-in-law (a great sailor herself).We definitely plan on doing this again. Oh...and Jonathan has amazing power over the weather, clearing dark clouds and rain for a magical sunset!
