Fun hardware shop. They have pretty good selection of a little bit of everything. Their yearly large sale is a good time to get stuff for the home. Masks are required at this time. Some things are a little pricier here.

Don’t ever come here if you need help quickly. Literally like waiting on your grandfather to walk ten miles through hot coals blindfolded with no shoes on. You’ll be ready to pull your hair out after you wait 30 minutes to have two keys made.

McGuckin’s is such a great place with the most excellent customer service! There was a man in the plumbing department that really helped me, thank you! even though They did not have the spray faucet replacement hose, he helped me figure out that it was a specialty part and suggested that I have my landlord take care of it, and I did and he fixed it in two hours (Instead of me chasing around trying to find a replacement hose for days and miles!)

How did I not know about this place?! I will be planning an afternoon here just to explore. In my brief initial visit I found the perfect Fathers Day gift. Imagine what I will discover when I can really wander about!

Loved that it is pet friendly. Met a few wonderful pups while we enjoyed shopping. They had everything we could ever need!! Phenomenal selection of socks!!

You pay a little more than hardware corp but its minimal and the upside is you have great help finding you way through a superior selection of tools, hardware and anything you might need for your home project.

I went to store today looking for a replacement vacuum belt. -Had no idea what to look for... An employee approached (Teresa) and asked if I needed help and spent a good deal of time finding the right size for me while I walked around. This is why I come to McGuckins... They have the best customer service over anybody, by far.

This is the best hardware store I have been to. They have EVERYTHING in there. They have a houseplant depart with a big selection. Not just a hardware store. They even have decent art supplies including oil paints. Cool store.

This place always has what I need. I would say that the prices are a little bit higher than you could find at HD or AMZN but the quality of staff and experience makes up for it. The Boulder local will always stay loyal to McGuckin!

Went there for the first time on Easter Sunday, as I am new to the area, and I love the store!! They have some cool, useful items. Some stuff does seem overpriced, but my hubby and I still spent over $200 there that day. The thing I didn’t really like about shopping there was that the staff was really overbearing. Literally it was like EVERY aisle we went down, we were asked if we needed help finding something. It got to the point where I felt like we were being treated as if we were trying to steal something, when we weren’t. That alone makes me hesitant to go back. I don’t mind being asked a couple times just out of courtesy, and I’m sure the staff are trained to offer assistance, but every 30 seconds is a little much.My husband goes there often as he is a plumber and works in Boulder all the time and needs to go grab some hardware or what not, and he said he walked in the store with a part in hand one day so he could go find what he needed. On his way to the hardware he stopped to look at chainsaws because there was some sort of deal going on, and he was asked THREE times in ONE minute if he needed help. It’s a little ridiculous. Lol

Authentic locally owned hardware store and lots more. You can probably find anything you need here, including very friendly and knowledgeable employees. Hardware (nuts and bolts section ) once boasted over 10,000 items!I always go here first before the “big box” stores to support local workers and keep my money in the community. That they have whatever I need is a bonus. Sometimes we just to to learn about products and alternatives to fixing, building, repairing that we may not have discovered yet. Best in the area for sure.

I went back here to return an ac unit that was pretty much like a regular fan and they charged me 10% for the stocking fee, which it was 20 dollars. 20 dollars that I had to spend for their unusable unit. Not them, me. Ok, next time I wont throw my money to the trash again and go somewhere else.

Super helpful and friendly team, really interesting assortment of products for a hardware store.I came in looking for a very small (literally) item that would not be asked for commonly. One team member knew exactly where it was, saving me a lot of time. Another randomly approached me and my 2 yr old daughter to give her a toy airplane - which has kept her entertained for a solid chunk of the day.Great store.

This place was amazing. Its like Walmart, but better quality stuff. Huge selection of about everything you can think of. Walked in after a couple little things and walked out with an armload of new goodies.

I want to shop locally, but this store is strange. It wants to feel like a mom and pop, but things are piled up and unorganized. One example: the batteries are hidden in a corner and the selection is poor. This is a product that people buy, it should be up front and available from multiple brands. Make the store better and Ill stop by more often.

Its an alright hardware store, but I wanted to get some xylenes, and when I checked on their website, they said they had some in stock. However, when I went there, they just had xylene replacements. I should have known that they couldnt sell xylenes anymore, but it was annoying that they marked it as if it was still in stock.

So I was in the market for a new coat today, I quickly tried one on for a second, didnt fit so I looked for a different size... well I was looking for a new jacket I had an employee just watching over me, every corner I was he was watching me... he then got on the phone to talk to a customer, when he was done on the phone he approached me to let me know that if I touch and try a jacket on I need to let someone know if I dont buy it.... well the problem I had with that is that theres no sign saying that, and I saw plenty of other doing the same.... the fact that he was following me and I am Hispanic gave me a weird vibe as why I was told this and not the others, did he think I was trying to steal a jacket.... felt very uncomfortable being at the store today, I have spent lots of money in the store to have been profiled that way

We (used to), spend thousands of dollars here a year, but it was recently very disappointing to find that the heater we bought there was $45 more expensive than it is available almost anywhere else. Price gouging at its finest. What is even more aggravating is that they kept sending me and email asking for my review of my purchase but when I did it, they did not post it on their site as it stated that same thing that I am reviewing here. Guess our days are over giving these over pompous people our money. I was shocked when I got an email stating that they couldnt post my review on their site. Oh well, google doesnt disregard reviews because they are not good... unbelievable ...... If you like handing rich greedy people your hard earned money then keep shopping here; if not, you should check prices elsewhere.

This is my favorite hardware/outdoor/household goods store of all time! The green vest folks are always so helpful and friendly. The products they carry range from inexpensive to more durable and I really appreciate being able to buy something better made and more durable when I want/need that vs the junk that other places seem to carry. Truly a precious Boulder institution!

Would not let me look at the hardware without knowing exactly what I wanted. They cited “too many people would want to be in this isle if they just let people look for hardware.” I was the only customer in the isle. Since I didn’t know exactly what I wanted, I had to leave. So I left the store entirely. Drove all the way from Denver just to check out their hardware for my project, only to be kicked out for not knowing exactly what I wanted.Will not be back.

McGuigan was wonderful as always. Got what I wanted and it works. Just what I expected.

I will not spend my money in a store that sells roundup and other poisons. These toxins are poisoning our water when they run off and killing our wildlife. All for green lawns. Truly pathetic.

Great Hardware store but carries much more. I needed metric bolts & of course they had them. You had to be escorted in the isle but staff was amazing. Worth a visit even if you dont need anything.

Auto Rep recommended a product and instructed to try a sample area and return if not complementary. Cashier refused return. A corporate store with this amount of volume should be embarrassed for wasting this customers time! Its not like were all swimming in money during the pandemic and it was store error and policy!

I recently moved nearby and have heard good things about mcguckin and was so excited to go for the first time.Most of the employees were shockingly rude and cold and almost no help except for about three kind and helpful employees. They were the only ones who didn’t make me feel like I was doing something wrong by trying to complete a simple home project.I am incredibly dissatisfied and disappointed with the level of service I received today. I likely will just stick to Home Depot from now on even though it’s not nearly as close.

This place is wonderful and in my eyes a boulder historical landmark we love coming here for pretty much everything and I will always recommend anybody to come to this establishment. Steve in tools and Hardware was an amazing man who we got to have a great conversation with for a little while. Thank you again Boulder for being so amazing.

Pretty much any odd part, nut, bolt, filter, washer etc- they have it. The people in the green vests will assist in digging it out. They know stuff!

What would we do without McGuckins? I must stop by at least three times a week between projects at work, projects at home, a run for my wifes canning passion . . . Every time I find a well stocked store with a huge range of products and super knowledgable, friendly, helpful people in green vests. Love this place.

About 2 months ago I did curbside pickup at Home Depot. It was a disaster. First they brought out the wrong order. Then the guy disappeared for 40 minutes. What should have taken 5 minutes ended up taking about 50 minutes.Today at McGuckins I was shocked!!!! They brought my order out to me within 2 minutes, and it was exactly what I had ordered. Wonderful!

Wow this place is fantastic. The knowledge of the staff is unparalleled, as is the staff to customer ratio. Things do cost just a bit more than home Depot sometimes, but its worth it to make sure youre getting the right thing.

Enough is Enough!! Was asked to leave the store today because my mask wasn’t up “high enough” over my nose! When I simply told them I have a hard time breathing with that particular mask, they completely disregarded, and still forced me to leave “or else”. I will not shop there again, and encourage anyone else who cares about their rights to shop elsewhere. The only way we can have a voice through this mess (garbage, that has been scientifically proven Masks are ineffective anyway) is through the wallet of the stores who abuse their power. Simply refuse to give them business, and take your business elsewhere.

Seven different guys asking me if I need help finding anything. I guess I looked like a shoplifter. One cashier chatting then taking a line jumper. Alas, no sale.

Always a Boulder Classic. A vast selection of tools and more, at this privately owned local hardware store. I have come here for cards, replacement parts on household appliences, tools, clothes, plants, and garden equipment. Highly recommend. Everybody who works here is kind, and helpful!

This USED to be the most amazing store. Youd find items youd never suspected existed. BUT, ever since they have been taken over by Ace Hardware, they are quickly becoming just another chain store, with the exact same items you find everywhere else, and none of the odd things that made the place special. Soooo sad.

If youve never been to McGuckins, you need to go. If you dont need anything at McGuckins, you dont have a pulse. Best place in town to find anything you need. Been going there for 30 plus years and the service is always excellent.

I know a lot of people love this store and I am one , I grew up with McGuckin‘s in Boulder but my story was not a good one . The lack of respect that I was shown while working here by upper management was unimaginable. I was let go on a decision That was based on shopping on the clock when in reality I was helping a customer with an in stock defective product. I took three of these products into the back room to investigate if they were all broken or if it was just one. FYI this was a product that if it malfunctioned while in use it could cause serious injury . With that said they accused me or almost accused me of stealing. The whole incident is on camera through their internal security system. My final analysis is there had to be a need another reason why they let me go but I’ve never been given the time of day and don’t really care at this point. Not once was I asked what I was doing . Management formed their opinion based on what they saw on camera only which was a very small percentage of what was taking place. If you look at the video without the rest of the story then yes you could make their claim . There are two sides to every story and this is mine and my opinion only.I still love the store and it’s a shame that I don’t feel 100% welcome there after 30 to 40 years of my family and myself shopping here and two years of working for them. Don’t most employers give a warning if they have a problem with your performance and give the employee an opportunity to explain before they just slam down the gauntlet. Very sad that I have this unfortunate incident in my history due lack of communication and rush to judgment. I’ve always had Past employers communicate to me that they wish they had 10 more just like me and for the life of me Can’t make sense of how my employment came to and abrupt end.

This is THE place to get THE thing (whatever it is). Super helpful employees and they stock anything you could possibly need.
