My first time trying to find a new stylist in Boulder, it’s difficult to put that trust in someone new. I have very long thick hair and Olga did not know how to work with it. She was very friendly, so I gave this 2 stars, but the cut alone warrants no stars. First off we agrees on 3 inches ofd my total length and it ended up more like 5, I’m trying to grow my hair out and am very attached to it’s length. She also didn’t blend ANY of my layers, or keep the tapers “V” look I like in the back. It’s just one length all the way across, uneven, unblended layers.

Roots is my place! I love getting my haircut there. I highly recommend Travis for mens cuts, hes an expert. But, the entire staff is lovely, and well experienced. They have been working together for many years, I came to them back when it was Chaz Salon. Love the location, great space. I am so happy we still have places like this in Boulder.

Dora did my hair for my wedding and she was so wonderful! She is kind and patient and listened to my feedback after our trial run. Excellent experience!

Im disappointed to share this but it feels important to give accurate tellings of experiences so new clients can make informed decisions. I made an appointment here for a blowout (wash + blow dry) to have nice hair for professional branding photos I was having done. Unfortunately I was pretty unhappy with the outcome.Even though Dana was very friendly, the skill level did not meet my expectations. My hair was flat, no volume, and she used a lot of hair spray which I was not used to having in stylings Ive had post haircut at other studios. It left my hair looking greasy and parting oddly. No body, no waves -- I have wavy hair naturally.I even called once I got home and inspected it in the mirror, to express my disappointment. I thought someone would call me back or something, but no one did.I was quoted $30 over the phone, despite explaining my hair length but was charged $40 and ended up paying $45 with tip. I guess I should have just gone to the Blo Bar for $50. I was trying to save a buck and it did not work in my favor.I was just so disappointed since I had makeup done and a photographer arranged. It was an important day for me.

Wendy is fantastic! She knows her way around thick and curly hair. I have never had a hairstylist know and understand my curls as much as she does. If you have thick hair or curls you must see her.I’ve been going to her for over a year and will continue to see her for as long as I can!

Megan is awesome!!! I did a terrible job of explaining what I wanted and did not provide any pictures--she asked all the right questions and somehow gave me exactly what I wanted. Sooo many times Ive had haircuts and told the stylist that I do NOT spend any time styling my hair, and walked out with something I could never duplicate because it required special products/brushes/flatirons etc. Megan really listened and gave me a true wash-and-wear cut that works with my hair texture. She is quick and efficient and amazing to watch---really an artist. The salon is clean, people disinfecting all the time while I was there. I will be back. Thank you, Megan!

Travis is a magician. Saw him for the first time in months looking like a mophead due to the pandemic. Left with the best haircut Ive ever had.

Travis cuts my kids and my hair. He always does a fantastic job and is a lovely person to be around. I love everything about coming to Roots for our haircuts. Travis is super attuned to what we as him to do with our hair, is a great listener, and is easygoing and kind.

Honestly the best haircut Ive received at a crazy good price. I got my hair cut from almost 12 inches to almost military and I was incredibly impressed. Shampoo service to start combined with a post haircut rinse and style.

Ive been getting my hair cut by Travis ever since I was in middle school and hes wonderful. Im so happy he was able to start his own salon, and I always love my hair after he cuts it!

It’s been awhile since I had my hair done here. But I feel snubbed, the owner Travis made me believe he knew how to do balayage and charged me a lot for it...I was shocked to see my hair when he was done I asked for blonde and somehow ended up with dark brown he told me it did turn out darker then he thought, which is an understatement, and to wait and see how it fades out and if it doesn’t that he would add some highlights, which still wasn’t what I wanted. However I did spend a lot for this so I updated him later on that it was still pretty dark and he said it looked fine, at that point I wasn’t going to beg for him to fix it and rather do it myself. A year later now that I’ve had my hair done with a proper balayage what he did was no where near. If you don’t know how to do something someone is asking then I really suggest not misleading them and not letting them be your test subject for over $200 that’s poor business.

Very happy with my haircut by Dora. My hair looks and feels healthy again. Ill be back!

Excellent haircut and service from Dora. I have curly, unruly hair and have seen alot of barbers unable to deal with the challenge. Dora was open, flexible, and communicative about the best approach to get the cut I wanted.

If I could less than a one star I would!!! I went here for almost a year but in the last week I showed up for an appointment to find out first that my stylist accidentally booked it for the wrong week. Then after rescheduling, and get the confirmation call for my appointment, that somehow my next appointment wasnt being honored because somehow someone else was booked at the same time. I will never go back here again and I feel that this is a terrible business!!!!
