Every time I needed help, they couldnt help even though I was referred to them. It seem like they rush you off the phone. Tell you to try some options, if that doesnt work call them back. When you call back they give you information you already know or not in flavor of your situation. It be nice to get a new staff that really help. Instead of people that sound like they dont really want to.

Nobody can help you take the next steps after they tell you your rights are being violated, they suggest things that can and will get you evicted or the cops called on you, especially dealing with the type of landlord I am dealing with, and they also lie about things we can do and certain laws then make it seem as though theyve never told you that before. I do not suggest calling them, at all, they cant help. They make you feel like you have power but in my case, there was nothing they could do to help me and my children not have our rights violated by the landlord.

HOME Lines expert attorneys provided the guidance I needed to confidently approach my landlord during three separate disputes. They explained my tenants rights in a clear, concise and friendly manner, and made sure all of my questions were answered and understood before the end of our calls. I cant thank them enough. A+

The different offices that recommend Homeline, such as the county courts in Minnesota, make it sound like Homeline is on the side of the tenant. I have spoken with a few different lawyers during this ongoing incident with my slumlord for months and of the three lawyers I spoke with, there was one female lawyer who was kind and helpful- well to the best of her ability. The other two male lawyers I spoke with are condescending and insensitive and I really question their authenticity for wanting to help people. Imagine getting paid to be a volunteer lawyer while having the ability to take on cases that appeal to you $$$. They have all told me this is immoral behavior and illegal behavior with your landlord, but I dont take on these cases meaning: you cant afford me , theres not enough money to be won . There is no such thing as a good-hearted volunteer lawyer.I think that the big picture for renters in Minnesota is:. Laws can be broken at your expense, with no justice as long as you are poor enough to not be able to afford retainer fees, but not quite poor enough to get free or reduced help. So, if your income is low but youre not living in a tent (yet), then slumlords can get away with anything because you have no legal guidance and your slumlord knows it. My experience with this situation has led me to firmly believe that Minnesota is most definitely not a tenant-friendly state ;although they claim to be. We tenants really dont have any support and if I was staying in the God forsaken state of Minnesota, I would form a tenant Union. Good luck, Minnesota renters, youre going to need it tremendously. Im off to a state that DOES care about their tenants and protect them without money because HAVING NO MONEY SHOULD NOT BE AN EXCUSE FOR PROVIDING HUMAN RIGHTS!

I love to give credit where credit is due, however in this case, the only feedback I can give on Homeline is negative. I do not understand what objective this resource serves. During my experience with Homeline, I quickly realized that this non-profit is completely wasteful of taxpayers dollars (nothing done by a lawyer is volunteer), as well as wasteful of tenants time and any hope that a tenant may feel when they call Homeline looking for help (when they feel that there is otherwise none). These lawyers cant be bothered. These lawyers transparently do not care about renters; they are simply lazy secretaries whom grudgingly return phone calls from home, in-between their beloved TV sitcoms because they HAVE to, not even the slightest sliver of compassion.-You cant get them to call you back in a reasonable amount of time (sometimes not at all).-They speak to you on the phone in a manner that makes you feel like youve interrupted something much more important that they were doing, that they are eager to get back to doing instead.-Even during your very first phone call speaking with them, they make you feel as though theyve already formed a generalized opinion about you automatically, simply because you are a renter (a pathetic renter).- They just simply are not helpful; they are merely looking up statutes online whilst on the phone with them which, of course, anyone with access to the internet could do themselves.I truly believe that Homeline is a waste of space that gives desperate victims false hope. This operation desperately needs an overhaul. ...Or please shut it down because it does more harm to peoples sensitive state than help.

Sadly i had to give this place any stars. This is the most horribly conducted service I have ever come across. These people are extremely rude, very short with you and will constantly talk over you.I can say if these people are really attorneys I would rather take my chances and represent myself. This place seems as though they fight harder for the management/owners, or maybe its that they have reached their recommended hours. What ever the case do your research and look at all reviews on as many sites as you can google including the BBB. I fell short by using what came in a housing package.

The property manager of my apartment building recently burglarized my apartment repeatedly. I was in the process of trying to figure out a settlement with my landlord, who was being incredibly dismissive and minimizing of my experience, so a neighbor suggested I contact them. They were incredibly helpful in navigating an awful experience and stick up for myself to someone who didn’t seem to think what I had gone through was really worthy of much compensation. I cannot say enough good things about them and very grateful for their help that will allow me to leave my current place and start to heal from my trauma.

Home Line helped me retrieve a $500 deposit which an apartment complex tried to take from me in complete violation of the law. I am extremely grateful for Matthew Eichenlaub, Samuel Spaid, and everyone at Home Line for their generosity, professionalism and expertise. It is great to know there are people fighting the good fight. I would give them a ten star review if possible. Thank you Home Line!

I called about COVID related concerns and common spaces in apartments.I am concerned about my health at home. Dry quickly I felt as if wanting to have even educational materials posted by mug landlord was apparently unreasonable.. During the conversation, I had made clear that I wasn’t asking for enforcement of any kind and I had stated that other counties had mandated masks (I gave examples of Italy and China). The response was that we are not a socialist country and we have freedom to choose to wear a mask or not.I was told that the landlord was responsible for nothing in regards to COVID.I was angry and it was clear. I became so, after I was treated as if my health concerns were unreasonable.I am clearly more protected at the grocery store. There was no concern from Homeline(not the representative I spoke with.It was clear freedom prevails. Public health concerns in a pandemic, not so much! No rights regarding COVID if you are a renter.

I have dealt with the MN Homeline over the last 20 years on certain occasions....They get back to you usually in less than 24 hours and spend as much time on the phone with you as you need. Most of the people that work or volunteer their time are very knowledgeable. If they cant answer your question, theyll get a colleague involved or refer you elsewhere. They have been a huge help the last 6 months to us and theyre one of the only advocates for tenant rights in Minnesota.

I had to give 1 star for the review but I DO NOT RECOMMEND Home Line at all. The representative that I spoke with was EXTREMELY rude, unprofessional and often combative with me. After I very politely declined to answer the intake question about my race (as its not relevant to the issue I called about and I routinely dont give it out because it can be used to discriminate), she became very angry and condescending in how she spoke to me. She talked over me while I was explaining my legal issue and then basically cut me off saying they couldnt help me. She also hung up on me as we were ending the conversation. This behavior was uncalled for and very unprofessional. Perhaps the employees need more training on how to deal with callers seeking assistance? I received no advice from Home Line whatsoever. Do not call them if you need actual legal help with anything.

They couldnt help me, were very stressful and blamed me for not calling them sooner which was impossible because they never met me before. Blame and shame if you have a problem landlord and they always side with the landlord not the tennant. I feel strongly that they share a black list of tennants history, well it sure feels like they do.

I am so impressed with this organization. I called Home Line at a friends recommendation after running into some serious issues with my landlord a few days ago. I left a message with my information and Matt called me back within a couple of hours. He was extremely kind, thorough, and encouraging and I got off the phone feeling confident about how to handle things with my landlord. Our conversation far surpassed my expectations and I would highly recommend that any struggling tenants in Minnesota give Home Line a call. Thanks again, Matt!

I e-mailed them with a renting question and made the mistake of saying that it was from a landlords perspective. I received a very short, rude, response that simply said that they were not in the business of answer landlords question. That they were a tenants hotline. They said that he couldnt answer my question because it could create a conflict of interest. Even though, my question was simply about what information was needed on a certain type of notice. Wont be checking with these folks again.
