My husband and I are finishing up the process of buying our first home. We had a pretty unique situation. Wendy Swanson ended up helping us with everything, emphasis on “help.” We couldn’t have asked for a better person to help guide us through this process. With being first time buyers, we had no idea what to expect, who to call, what was needed, etc. But Wendy helped us with literally everything. Over all a very very very pleasant experience and I HIGHLY recommend Wendy to anyone looking for a realtor!

We will no longer be giving Donna Travis anymore of our business. Period! When we started the process of selling our home, we specifically told her what we wanted and why. After getting halfway through our transaction, a huge mistake was made. Instead of just being honest with us and telling us what happened, she took it upon herself to try to fix things behind the scenes. She meant well by doing this but in actuality she completely took me and my wife out of the decision making process. Which, in our opinion, was our very right to have. I know her intentions were meaningful but the mistake was never brought to our attention until after we signed our paperwork at closing. On the sidewalk of the title company in Roanoke she tells us the mistake that was made. Unbelievable! Who does that? Donna Travis, thats who! Very unprofessional. In my opinion, the mistake was a complete breach of contract and was covered up. They tried to fix the mistake behind the scenes but in the end what it really did was cost us a few thousand dollars in my opinion. I understand that people make mistakes. But be honest with us, tell us the truth and then we can move on. The way Donna handled this was wrong and it really upset us. I dont know if she treats her other clients like this but if I ran a business by making decisions like that, I wouldnt have a business. If youre thinking about doing business with her, I would think twice. She completely has lost all of our trust. I was so upset the day she came out with the truth that I was very tempted to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

Josh Oakley at Long & Foster was an incredible resource in helping us buy our first home! He was very quick to show us multiple houses that we wanted to see as soon as they popped up on Zillow and when we found a house we liked he worked late into the night to put all the paperwork together so we could make an offer (key in this market right now because houses are selling so fast!) I love that they use DocuSign too because that made everything so much quicker and more accessible. Someone made a better offer on that house than us but Josh remained positive and helped us put in an offer on the next one we saw and LOVED. Offer was accepted and he continued to help in coordinating inspections, explaining contract clauses, and communicating with the closing company. We finally closed on the house and couldn’t be happier with it. Thanks Josh!

I couldnt be happier with my experience buying a house with Ryan McCollum. He was friendly, informative, and worked really hard to get us in our house. He went above and beyond to make our lives easier during a difficult homebuying process. If I ever need another realtor in the area, Ryan will be my first call.

Priscilla is the selling agent on a house that I am buying and she has done very little to help with the sale. Her definition of on or about for the closing date is that she has up to 30 days to close. She did not know the specifics of the property being sold, provided incorrect information about the property and she ordered all tests and inspections so late that we needed to expedite the results to get them into my lender for closing. She just wrote an very unprofessional email to me and my agent. I have never seen anything like it and I cannot recommend her.

My son, who graduated from college last year, found employment in the Blacksburg area. Weve been helping him in recent months to buy a place there. A realtor in my hometown (3h away from Blacksburg) referred me to an Agent with Long & Foster in Blacksburg. My son identified a good listing last March which this Agent showed to my son. We asked the Agent to put an offer. He made a verbal offer to the listing agent, but not in writing. We asked him to submit a written offer. Then he said that the listing agent had a couple of good offers, and that the listing agent told him not to bother with submitting our written offer. I was not happy with such interaction. Two days ago, my son identified another listing as a very good opportunity (listed the day before), and he emailed it to me. From the listing, I found the listing agent, and texted her if she could show us the property asap because I thought this would be the quickest way to actually see the property. I did not ask the listing agent to represent us specifically. The listing agent replied to my text, saying that she could not show us the property.I have no agreement with the Long & Foster Agent to represent us, nor do I have any obligation to work with him on this listing. So, I was free to work with any agent. After my son contacted the Long & Foster Agent to show us the property, I texted the Agent about showing us the property. The Agent accepted to represent us, and indeed he showed the house to my son yesterday late afternoon. My son then sent me pics and videos of the house, and we were ready to make an offer via the Agent. But, to my shock, the Agent texted me saying that he had just contacted the other agent (which I understood as the listing agent), and she had disclosed to him that I had asked her to show us the property. If true, what right did she have to disclose to this Agent that I had contacted her? The Long & Foster Agent also said that she told him that I had asked her to represent me, which was totally false (I did not ask her to represent me, my text message is proof). The Agent then angrily said in his text message that he is dropping us, and refused to continue with our representation (though he had already accepted our representation and showed the property to my son). I therefore became unable submit my offer because of the limited deadline. So, weve lost the chance to purchase the place since today is the deadline. I believe that such behavior is unethical.
