I was looking for stamps to buy. The self-service vending area for shipping and buying postage was open and stocked. The self-service postage and shipping area at the downtown main post office their machine does not work all the time and sometimes you dont get your stamps. I got my stamps here and my receipt and the lobby was nice and clean.

If you want to be waited on by staff that HORSEPLAY around instead of helping customers go here. Lastly, if you want a RATCHET and RUDE experience definitely go here. They don’t even deserve the one star that I gave but I had to put it there to be able to leave the review. Worst post office in the whole City of Birmingham. Needs to be closed immediately. I wasnt receiving my packages due to a mistake I made not filling out the new resident green paper in the mailbox ( I threw it away because it said no resident, I didnt realize I had to flip it over ... Lesson learned) and the staff followed up with me diligently until my packages were found. Turns out it was the wrong apartment number the whole time! They were very professional and courteous.

In the past week Ive had a package marked delivered to mailbox that wasnt there. Reported it to USPS, was basically answered with a sorry nor sorry. Ive had three packages not delivered to my address, due to front door inaccessible (front porch is shared, not possible, and FedEx, UPS and Amazon all managed to deliver just fine the SAME day), held at my request (I certainly didnt request that), and too heavy (the box weighed a total of 8lbs.), mail pieces missing and then had outgoing packages take 2 to 4 days longer than tracking advised. I regularly have mail missing. Packages are nearly never delivered to the door unless they are the size of a shoebox (I specifically order larger items because they will not fit in the very small trunk of my car), regularly see packages thrown from the parking lot to my door (captured on both my doorbell camera and another exterior camera), and when packages are in fact delivered to the mailbox, they are stuffed into it in such a way that at times, they cant be pulled out without damaging the contents. Ive called customer service, sent emails, spoke with someone in person at the desk, reported issues, and never a resolution. When you go into the facility, youre going to wait a WHILE. Doesnt matter time of day, day of week, always a wait. I will say, the ONLY positive is one lady that works the desk is incredibly nice, which considering just how over worked she must be is commendable. However, the rest of the staff is terrible. Ive been refused my packages that THEY didnt deliver because I didnt have the slip that THEY didnt place in the mailbox, despite having the tracking number, name and address on my license matching the package AND being able to show the package in my Informed (non)Delivery account. I use shipping so much for work, my personal business and personal needs that I have considered moving JUST TO GET AWAY FROM THIS POST OFFICE! Not sure if a Google review even matters since you cant avoid postal deliveries, nor does it seem like anyone has done anything despite YEARS of negative reviews. Ive given 3 years before writing this review hoping it would improve. Its only gotten worse.

This place Never delivers my packages. I always have to come get them. What a joke. Amazon and any other companies should seriously partner with carriers that actually like to do their job. Constantly getting delivery attempted undeliverable held at post office by customers request. Blatant lies, because of laziness, I assume. How are they still in business? I wish I could give this place a 0, but unfortunately I cant. It is an absolute NIGHTMARE getting packages delivered from this office and theyre my local office at that! Every time I get a package delivered from them, they lie that they attempted delivery and then I have to drive over just to pick it up. This place is an utter sham and needs major overhaul.Update as of 08/14/2021Meadowbrook Post Office strikes again. They shoved my package in my mail box and I couldn’t get it out, so I had to use my knife to cut it apart and rip the box out. Absolutely ridiculous. These people are the epitome of lazy and incompetent.

Worst post office I have ever dealt with. Lost a delivery to me but claims they delivered it, and refused to proved proof of delivery or confirm when or where it was delivered. They frequently have packages “out for delivery” that take another 2-3 days to actually deliver.

If I could leave a zero I would. Where to begin. Twice this year when I was gone on a trip I had my mail held and they still delivered it everyday including the paper that said my mail should be held. I have a camera on my mailbox and when I called and ask why I was told they do not have time to check if my mail should be held and that the sub carriers do not know how to check to see if the mail should be held. Next they kept saying a package could not be delivered because the location was blocked. I have no fence or gate in my front yard and it is only about 100 feet from my front door to the mailbox and you can see the entire mailbox and pole from the front door. They have no problem delivering some package but others will take 6 to 10 tries before they can seem to get it right. Sometimes on Saturday they say that they cannot deliver my package because my house is closed. My house has always been a house never a business. One time when they actually delivered my package the mail lady backed into my house and broke the light off the house. When I called them they said that would never happen but I said I had video and their story changed and said they will have to review it to see what they could do. I had to go purchase a new light and give them the receipt to finally get my money. We are currently waiting on a package that was supposed to be delivered a week ago but we are getting the run around about where it is and it keeps saying location blocked can’t be delivered. My packages get left at an apartment complex that is over 2 miles away on a different road. I was told that the addresses were similar that causes this issue. Only 2 of the 4 numbers are the same and not of the street address name is the same.I just wanted to add that the mail is severely delayed getting to me. I received my daily mail digest email that showed a letter I was expecting on Wednesday, it was not delivered until the Tuesday. I ask the person what day did they mail it and they said they had mailed it on Monday. The letter was mailed from a business that is 8 miles from my house in the same county. It took 8 days for the letter to be delivered from the same post office.I would pay extra to have Amazon and other companies to not use usps because of how terrible this location is.

Horrible attitudes, horrible at being helpful, slow shipping, pay for 2 day shipping and then told it will take 2 weeks but it was to late to change how it was mailed, mail doesnt come for 2 to 3 days (this is my local post office that delivers to me) , mail shows missing for weeks and never gets updated or scanned online but then just shows up, they leave packages out in the rain, put packages on top of mail boxes vs walking 10 feet to my porch, throw my packages at my door, what a horrible horrible experience all around here. They can learn a little from Amazon or any other mailing service for that matter!!

I tend to not be this critical of places, especially in unprecedented times such as this pandemic, but this location has been consistently poor in customer service and overall job performance. I have had numerous packages misplaced, lost, and delivered damaged to my apartment; I am receiving mail from other people although I have told them repeatedly that they no longer live at that address, when trying to contact the facility, I am left on hold while no one answers the phone, the workers are rude and careless when handling packages, and to top it all off it has taken them 3 days to update a package I dropped off AT THEIR FACILITY IN PERSON BY HAND! Its a return package with merchandise that is not my own. They should have updated that IMMEDIATELY since Im dropping it off at a freaking post office location. I will no longer ship with the postal service for as long as I live at this address because of this locations poor performance. Go somewhere else for your mail and packages if you live in Shelby County.

No matter how polite I am, they are always rude and never helpful. They have lost 2 expensive items and treat me as if it’s my fault. They dont offer to any solution, and Im left having been mistreated and without any type of compensation. It pains me to say such awful things about our postal workers, but a large amount of them need a major attitude adjustment and additional customer service training.

This is possibly the worst post office I have ever been to. Unfortunately, it is also closest to my house. I went in yesterday to buy a mailer and get stamps. I had to wait in line for 45 minutes. There is always typically one person working(Faye) She works at a snails pace and her other co worker that was there yesterday would disappear to go find a carrier and be gone for 10 minutes each time. Then Faye has to go to bathroom and never comes back and you can hear her clearing packages right on other side of the door ( I know because I used to work at a post office). The other worker had to tell her to come help because it was getting close to closing time. This post office needs to better train their employees or get new ones. The customer service for them stinks and I will be calling and filing a complaint. Every time I have come in it is after 4pm and there is never more than one person who could care less about actually being there. They are not friendly.

Absolutely horrible. Dropped off 5 packages here at their drop box inside the post office. 2 of them were lost and never even got an initial scan. Make sure you hand it to a post office employee and get them to give you a receipt. Otherwise, you cant prove that it was ever mailed. I am out $200+ now because of their incompetance.

I decided to go there and I waited in a line that was literally out the door. They are always understaffed and the staff they do have are awful. When i finally made it to the desk, Faye told me that theres basically nothing they can do to find the package.

Im due over $300 in priority fees I paid to get several packages delivered priority. Several were my medicines. This is important cargo they are delivering. They dont care. I was told to take my dog, in my arms, to get out. My dog is a Maltese, very small. There is. o signage saying I cannot bring her inside with me. It was not a day to leave a dog in the car. The postal worker had her radio very loud, gospel music. No problem with gospel, do have a problem with being told to take my dog and get out. I have papers from a doctor that says she can go anywhere with me. I showed her this information and she refused to even look at the papers. So a stranger offered to hold her by the postage machine behind the glass doors. Thank God. I hate Brookwood Branch!!!!!

If you send a certify letter is not received for 2 months , Your mail is left at the counter of the employee and never mail until you go to the office and they search and found it. This is getting to be ridiculous, every single time I have a package being delivered by USPS to my apartment, they simply refuse to complete the delivery and state No Access to Delivery Location. Per my apartment management staff, they are supposed to be delivering parcels to our apartments directly. It appears the carrier is either lazy, inept, or a combo of the two. I cannot get in contact with anyone at this post office, nor through the main customer service line. So much for social distancing and safer at home, kind of defeats the point of ordering anything online if I then have to go to the post office every time something remotely larger than an envelope gets sent. Oh and another thing, why do they not use the parcel boxes we have at our mail center? Seriously, like that is exactly what theyre there for!

3 weeks ago I was rear-ended by a driver from this branch and all I was given was the number of the branch to call. After calling no less than 10 times throughout different days, I decided I needed to come down since they never answered. My insurance can’t get ahold of them either.This place is absolute trash. Lines out the door and one person working at the front. I don’t know if the people inside don’t work fast, or if they’re underfunded or both, but don’t come here if you can avoid it.

The US post office on 119 in Shelby feels like it is set in the 1980s. The entry to the office is restricted to a single door. Once you enter, you are forced to go through a narrow aisle with hardly any room to walk in with packages, for example. Or, if you are a mom with 2 kids, it becomes extremely hard to keep your kids from exploring the racks which are at arms-length. Altogether, very cramped, for customers standing in line. However, there is plenty of room to go up to the counter. It is puzzling why the waiting line is pushed to a corner of the room, with hardly any space to stand. Additionally, if a customer has to select a birthday card or any other greeting, he/she has to wait in that line to get to the display case that has these cards. Someone here needs to get this place reorganized to make it more customer-friendly. Right now, it appears to be more staff-friendly.

I get other peoples mail and packages at least a few times a month if not more. I have had several amazon packages get delivered but not to me. Amazon has made it right but they do not give you the choice of not using usps as a delivery method.I have tried calling the post office several times to complain. They will not answer the phone. It is a shame. If you need to count on something making it to you, use ups or fedex because this post office is unreliable and apparently does not care.

Too many employees at this station do not care to do an adequate job. They often mishandle, misplace, and lose mail.They do not honor hold requests. They do not show up at any regular time, and cannot or will not contact their carriers on route. They will refuse to scan and accept prepaid authorized USPS postage packages. They even refuse to check for mail that hasnt been delivered or that was requested to be held.I love, respect, and appreciate USPS. I trust USPS above FedEx, UPS, and the regional commercial delivery options like DHL etc.The staff of this station make USPS look incompetent. It is too much. There needs to be serious retraining and perhaps new hiring as a last resort.

Ordinarily a great post office, but today was out of money orders. Not sure how that can happen! Drove to to three nearby businesses to finally procure the needed money order. When I returned to this post office, the lobby APC/kiosk was out of service. Probably just needed a simple reboot. Waited 15 minutes just to meter a large envelope. Told the counter woman that the APC was frozen and she said it wasnt her responsibility.

Iv always had problems with USPS but this location specifically is something else! I have had rude customer service and been told that the lady that delivers to my location won’t deliver to my doorstep because “it would be hard”. I will be doing USPS’s job and picking up the package myself from this location. USPS has really deteriorated and I think I speak for everyone when saying I can’t wait for this company to go bankrupt and shut down. If you can’t keep up with how shipping is in this day of age then don’t try. All USPS is good at is making the customer unhappy.

Waited 45 min and told package was sent on wrong route and that had already left for delivery. Now 2 days later no package. Unfortunately this post office has let me down on many occasions. They dont pick-up my packages/mail going out, they have missed so many times Ive had to drive them to the post office myself. I have had packages not delivered that were scanned in as though they were, and left with a shoulder shrug from the postal service. I filed an official complaint with the postmaster to get hundreds of dollars worth of packages delivered. The carriers on my route seem to be incompetent. It seems they dont want to reach into my mailbox when the flag is up. However, will gladly shove mail into my box on top of pieces of mail that I need to be carried out. I get it, their job isnt easy... But you know what? My job is difficult too - and if I dont get it done, I get fired!

I wouldnt even rate this post office a one. They deserve a zero. Ive been on hold for over two hours trying to track a package that they say has an undeliverable address. Its the same address Ive used for 24 years so the address is correct. Horrible customer service, but I shouldnt be surprised as it seems to me that any government service Ive had to deal with is incompetent and doesnt get in a hurry to do anything. I know that isnt true of every govt employee, but it is certainly true of the ones that Ive dealt with for the last three hours. Absolutely ridiculous!

However it was not in my po box so I went to the front desk and asked if they could look to see if I have the package. Due to some recent dealings with this post office I no longer trust them with anything! Issues that should have been resolved are dealt this by giving excuses rather then problem solving. I do not trust anyone at this post office and have been mailing out any mail I have through my local UPS office where I now have a P.O. box and no longer deal with missing mail and packages!! 3 of my neighbors have also re-routed the way they receive their mail. EXTREMELY SLOWJust was on hold for over an hour and never talked to anyone. I HATE the stupid robot that you have to go through. Was going to see if I could pick up my package today before it got on the truck, but while I was holding it was put on the truck. The slowest service, employees are inconsiderate to a long line and often disappear leaving one employee to manage the long line. Absolutely horrible customer service.
