This was my first visit. I am leaving this good review based on the excellent customer service I received at this location. Chris was very polite, took his time with questions and info, went out of his way to be nice...and it was fast. I assume the oil change was done well too. I think I paid a little more than usual but I liked staying in my car as well as getting finished quickly. I noticed that there is a $5 discount for ladies on Tuesdays so I will take advantage of that offer next time.

Great service & price, but many places have the same. What stands out here is how they value and engage customers. You can trust them and I enjoyed the conversation while waiting.

I don’t like paying for a service then asking them if they have time at 4 to change my tires. To show up at 4:05 to be turned around because they don’t have time to change my tiers.

They are awesome at this location. I had a flat tire they went above and beyond to help me. I have cancer and could not get the tire off myself. I would recommend them totally. Thanks again guys

Andy and Bradley are the best at what they do! They really took the time to make sure they checked over everything and my daughter’s car was ready for her trip back to Ohio for school……thanks guys!

Review ~3 years ago (when this location was Havoline xpress lube): Great service! Staff / techs are super professional. Ive been using this specific Xpress Lube for years.UPDATED Review 05/17/2021Contributor Note: As a regular Google Contributor, I reached out to the business and expressed some of the following over the phone with John the store Assistance Manager. I felt his response was less than what I would have expected and thus have posted the following for review by the community.If you have used the Havoline xpress lube franchise on the corner of highway 119 and 280 in Birmingham Alabama over the years, as I have, you may be disappointed when you try it now, as Express Oil Change (store 3012).The service I received was less than stellar and on the edge of negligent (in my opinion). Having worked for an oil change place as a youth over a summer break, you have one chance to get it right, and for the customer to drive away confident in the service performed. Any hint otherwise, and youve placed doubt in the mind of the customer. Any inaccuracy, and you place doubt in the customers mind that what was done underneath may or could also have been done sub-par.I pulled up, on what appeared to be a light Monday, and was greeted kindly. Upon the greeting, I told the tech I needed an oil change and pulled the sticker from the windshield. He asked the mileage and I called out the digits (9 7 1 3 4). I then asked if he could associate my prior Havoline account to a new account so my service history could be retained. (I have at least 8 prior visits to this specific location for this specific vehicle.) He said he would check and see and let me know. As he scribbled the mileage I called out onto the windshield sticker, I thought, how is he going to read that. But, thats his job… to get the current mileage and perform the service on my vehicle… accurately.A few minutes past and I was ushered into bay 3, popped the hood, and the service began. The tech said he needed to get my information again because the account couldnt be pulled up. So I provided my address, phone, email, etc. I watched the techs around me working… servicing other vehicles. I noted the tech in bay 4 vaping (mainly because there was a huge puff of white smoke that caught me off guard and I thought it had come from the engine of the vehicle he was working on). The techs chatted, interacted and went about their work. Under the previous franchise, the windshields was washed, the air pressure checked, but they didnt provide that service to my vehicle on this visit. The truck to my left had its tire pressure checked. I didnt think anything of it… was handed a windshield sticker to apply, went about paying the ~$45 and pulled away. I got thinking… something isnt right…The current mileage was 97,134… the next service should be ~3K mileage. The window sticker shows 95134.From the Service Check list:- Check Cabin Air Filter shows Ok.but it WAS NOT checked. I sat in the car the whole time and youd have to crawl in through the passenger side to check it… So why didnt they just check NO or N/A?- Check Air Filter shows Ok.but when I got home, I checked the air filter myself and its NOT ok… its full of debris (see attached pictures). Theres NO WAY it was checked, and if it was, they just failed to say anything… so what am I paying them for?- Check Wiper Blades shows Cust Okd.the tech never said anything to me and they def are NOT ok… (see attached pictures)- Check Transmission Fluid shows No InspectionIm speechless as to why they tech didnt pull the Transmission Dipstick and check the fluid… no clue… I could have sworn an oil change includes checking the transmission fluid. (see attached pictures)- Rest Oil Monitor / Light shows Resetbut my car doesnt have such a feature… why indicate Reset when thats NOT what was done?I think another service center may be my go-to for even the most basic maintenance work.

Ive used this location for a number of years. Good service. Nice employees. My vehicle has 223,000 miles on it. However I had an oil change today, used Mobil 1 and paid $84.80 for the oil change. My RAV4 oil change used 4.6 quarts of oil. I actually paid for up to 5 qrts. Yet they would not give me the unused oil that I paid for. The supervisor replied, no we dont give you the extra oil that paid for. That was not very professional. So, I wont return.

Fantastic service great people, easy to do business with. Clean, organized professionals. Seriously what else do you want? Nothing, its a redundant question. :)

These guys rock! Especially David, my tech today! I foolishly took my Buick to Walmart across the street for my last oil change and less than a month later I’m out oil. No worries Havoline! I will not trade the quality expert service again!!! One happy driver!!!

If you are going to be open until 6 pm then you shouldWork until 6pm. Just tried to get a oil change on one of my 3 cars that I bring to you regularly, at 10 til 6 and was told they close in 10 mins and can’t get to me. I guess I will find another oil change place that wants my business.

I went in to get 2 new tires and an oil change. I told them I wanted them on the front. An hour later it was ready and the new tires were on the rear!All three front desk technicians argued with me. One said Most people trust our judgement and another one said, We do that for lateral stability. I can debate you about that all day long, but when I hydroplane, it happens on the interstate going in a straight line and my front tires hydroplane first.Even if they are 100% correct, I wanted them on the front and didnt get that and they were all arrogant and argued with me.I want to mention this place used to be Havoline Xpress Lube and now its Express Oil Change. There has been a huge change in customer service and its not for the better. They have lost a customer!

Frederick was amazing. Above customer service, excellent personal skills. As a manager myself. It is always good to see team members going above what is expected. You are very fortunate to have him on your team. He made every customer feel especially important.

Quick to answer, courteous and helpful, and gave me a recommendation that led me to fix the problem for myself and cheaply, without trying to get me to bring it in unnecessarily. Recommended.

This was my first experience at Havoline. Ive had some negative experiences in the past at other service and repair shops, but was hopeful about Havoline because of all the positive reviews. I was not disappointed! Everyone at Havoline was professional, courteous, and helpful. I truly appreciated their honesty and transparency. I will definitely be back!

The oil change was fast and the staff seemed nice and professional... that is until they stole my credit card information.Due to social distancing I remained in the car and gave the mechanic my card to run the transaction for the oil change. He stepped away with my card and returned after a few minutes. Within a matter of hours my card was littered with a dozen fraudulent transactions for the Ohio lottery. Be warned!

Havoline is a WONDERFUL place for great car service! Everyone is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They take their time to provide excellent and honest service. The manager, David has taken care of my car and Ive been able to go on my lunch break without any issues. Ive been greeted with a smile every time Ive been in. I definitely recommend Havoline to everyone!

Quick in and out! No pressure to buy other items. They asked about my air filter for the inside of my car, which I had never heard of, and replaced it, it was black, now maybe I can breath again!

Ive always gotten phenomenal service at Havoline. I moved and stopped going to the one in Alabaster. The 280 location is the same, if not better. They are courteous, they do their job very well, always have enough people on staff, and are upfront about services needed. I really appreciate it!

I definitely recommend this location on Cahaba Valley RD and will be a future customer. I recently needed a tire that most places do not have in stock. The store manager gladly took the time to locate one of only four tires in Birmingham and I drove off with it that afternoon. Everyone there was professional and friendly. The waiting area was clean and comfortable (and pet friendly). Even though it was a busy afternoon and I arrived close to closing, the customer service was 100% top notch.

The guys at Havoline Xpress Lube & Tire are awesome! They always explain each service item they recommend that my car may be due for and give me honest opinions on if the service is needed now or can wait. They also are really quick and I have never waited long to have my oil changed. Only disappointment I had was that they dont offer the vacuum service anymore.

We left our vehicle here and told them we needed new brakes. They called us later and told us the brakes just needed cleaning and adjusting. The charge was $25.00! We are so impressed. They could have put new brakes on and we would not have known that they weren’t needed. How many places can you get that kind of honesty? We will definitely be back.

I had a great experience with Havoline. Went there for an oil change, Richard was very nice and explained everything that was being done to the car. I was in and out of there in like 30 mins. I also asked him if brake pads need to be changed and he said there is no need now. That tells you a lot about his honesty. The place that I used to go earlier would have suggested to change them. Would definitely recommend this place.

I stopped on my way to work for an oil change before a weekend trip. Without knowing this, upon checking out, the young man asked if I had roadside assistance. When I told him that I didnt he gave me all the information that I needed and went over what was done to my car during the visit. Ive had this done many times at other places and no one had ever done that before. It made me feel like they really cared about me. I appreciated this and will never take Kim the Kia anywhere else.

UPDATE 11/1/2019: Its gone downhill. // Im changing the 5 stars I gave them in 2018 to 3 stars. Courtesy diminished: Simply acknowledging me as I sat in the lobby for almost 30 minutes during which time 6 employees passed // Attention to detail slipping: missed a burned out headlight while changing oil and performing safety check. Must have changed management. Used to be excellent - now just so so. Unfortunate.

Please Beware!!!! Do not trust this location to be fair and honest with women. My wife went in for an oil change and brake pads. She was informed that when you change brake pads, the rotors need to be replaced also. First set of pads since original ones. Thats the first thing they took advantage of. She got an oil change and we do use synthetic, but the standard oil change is $42.99 up to x amount of quarts of oil. I think its fair to pay the difference between the conventional vs synthetic oil. So, she pays another $25.00 for the synthetic. They also add a Synthetic Up-Charge of $30.00. What is that? Is someone not already paying the up charge by paying for the synthetic oil? What is the difference between mechanic shop supplies and shop supplies. As I said before, think twice about using these people for you preventive maintenance needs. They look at someone and see if they can take advantage of them.This is supposed to be the flag ship of the Chevron/Texaco family. PLEASE BE VERY AWARE OF THE POOR BUSINESS PRACTICES!!!!!! They will not get another dime from us.

It was awful. They were uninformative and I left my car there from 1230 pm until 5 they still didnt have time to look at or fix my tire unacceptable and we had communication problems as well I would not recommend them at all none of our family will be back

Been going there for years. Service isnt always consistent. I dont trust ALL of the techs there. Many work well. Some not so much. They work reasonably quickly. I went there last time to check on the battery I bought from them that was under warranty.

Horrible. Came in for a oil change and new fuel filter. Paid.. Left.. Truck started sputtering and check engine light came on. Immediately went back and 4 hours later Im still sitting here with no answers. Dont waste your time and be in the same situation Im in. Also, ironically.. A lady getting her oil changed when I did.. Came back in and her car is broken down on hwy 280 after she left...completely incompetent.

Dad took his truck in for A/C repair; they added freon sent him on. following week it wasnt working again. Took it back and they put new compressor, etc. Next week it was smoking like crazy!!(think clutch was seized?) Took it back & they swapped out compressor. He picked it up yesterday, it started smoking a lil; parked in drive & came inside. Few min later doorbell rang - neighbor telling him his truck was on fire!! They used fire extinguisher & called 911 immediately. The yard to side of drive was on fire! Fire dept had to spray engine compt with foam. Truck is a TOTAL LOSS!!!!

Always fast service, friendly and professional not pushie about other purchases. They usual vacuum out my car each oil change but today they didnt do that, hopefully it was an oversite because it was a nice service to their customers.
