I recently applied for hunter ridge thinking they were nice. The ppl in the office are very unprofessional. Nobody knows anything. I was told my apartment was ready & by me not being ready to move into my apartment I gave them an extra two weeks to get everything together. I had to constantly call for updates on the apartment I was suppose to move into.I was promised a front apartment ended up with an back apartment. The leasing manager changed my move in date & I still hadn’t even seen what the apartment look like. The day I was finally able to see the apartment was the day they wanted me to move in & I was sooooo disappointed by what I was looking at that they wanted me to call home for my & my child. The first thing I noticed was the front door had been kicked in. You would think that would be the first thing they would replace before having a possible new resident living there. I’m a single mom with a 2 year old son. That itself didn’t make me feel comfortable to live there at all. Walked into the kitchen and the dishwasher was full of mold . The master bathroom had mold on the side of the tub. The toilet seat looked like it hadn’t been replaced since the apartments were built. The microwave was missing the handle. The breezeway reminded me of the projects. It was filthy. Oh & to TOP it all they don’t have a maintenance man so once you move in if something goes wrong you’re SOL! I’ve reached out to gateway rental company and have yet to hear back.

The office staff doesn’t answer phone calls, or return messages. If you call after hours for an emergency you won’t get a call back. The walkway outside by the stairwell never gets pressure wash ( when asked I was told the pressure wash machine was stolen). We’ve ordered a new one ( they never received the new one). The person upstairs left water running ( left home) water running downstairs in my apartment. No one came until after the lady upstairs came back home (about an 1 or 2 later). Maintenance said I’ll have to come back once the water dries to patch the ceiling ( maintenance never came back). Then they had a different maintenance man ( he didn’t know what was going on). That maintenance person didn’t fix anything. When you leave or return home trash everywhere ( like the city dump ). They alway have a different person when you go into the rent off. No answer when you call, so when you go into the office. You ask for a copy of your lease ( your told to come back the next day) “ No I need it now ( I do have a job) if someone answer the phone maybe you could’ve had it ready or told me when to come. After that they give you someone else lease…… This place has really went down….

I had stopped by several months ago and was interested but nothing was available. Went back last week and met with the new manager Dowanna, WOW she and the new staff are much more team players than the last group! I am now on the wait list for my new home and I cant wait!

Currently staying here now.. Nice apartments but bad customer service at the rent office. They do not know how to keep the good customers.. Every time I go in the rent office it’s somebody new an they don’t have a clue what’s going on.. They NEVER answer the phones.. Asking for the manager but she’s always busy.. maintenance guys telling me they can’t find my lights I need for my apartment.. Keep in mind the lights I need been out for a whole year.. Put in a complaint never got a response.. Asked for new carpet because the carpet wasn’t new when I moved in I was told someone was coming to take pictures no one ever showed up.. They should keep in mind not everybody that lives here is on section 8.. I pay my full 591.00 on time every month...Was trying to stay another year but changing my plans because everybody in Hunter Ridge rent office is unprofessional. This is not how u run a business.

New management is terrible. Very bad experience for me.

I live here . Very poor on answering their phone. They wont return your call and they wont let you leave a message. There phone number does not give you a emergency number at all.

Please don’t not even be interesting in these apartments. I did my application for someone too call me and tell me my deposit was 400$ paid the deposit for me to call back a couple days before it’s time for me to move in and tell me my application wasn’t processed. I already paid the 400$ for the deposit. Which she lost and put towards somebody else account. So now I’m waiting on my deposit to be “mailed” too me when it wasn’t “mailed” too them. This is the worst place ever too even try too move too. I’m telling you keep looking I don’t want another person to be in the same boat I was in dealing with these ppl not to mention management is so unprofessional! You call and ask question they act clueless like they don’t know what’s going on. This place sucks! It’s time for new management. I wouldn’t recommend any human being to stay at this rude inconsiderate unprofessional place. KEEP looking! Do not put all your eggs in one basket because in the end you’ll be disappointed. Not to mention I asked for a number that’s over them & they wouldn’t even give it too me. If you can keep looking I would recommend you too!

They never answer the phone and when you leave a voice message they never return your call. I have left a total of 5 voicemails in the last 2 weeks and NO ONE has returned my call. I was interested in leasing an apartment with them but now I’m unsure because if they probably wouldn’t answer for a maintenance call either!

The people in the leasing office is VERY VERY rude. They get smart with when your calling in and asking information about your application and the process. They look nice but nobody wants to live somewhere where they have to deal with rude people everytime they have a issue or need something from them. Very very sad!!!! I had the lady holler at me telling me what she needed because I called to verify what I was told about my application because the information wasn’t valid showing on my credit report.

The apartments are beautiful but the children run the apartments and the front office does nothing. They make you pay water bill where the front office check your meters and charge you what they want to charge you. Management sucks they are not nice very rude. The owners only care about money not the people in their apartments. They charge you for everything you call that needs fixing. But they are very beautiful and large apartments if you can put up with the front office and the children you might be happy here.

Stupid ghetto people who like to hang outside are the worst thing you can encounter when you are trying to live a peaceful quiet life. When I first moved in 2 years ago, management made sure I knew that loitering and hanging out was a huge no no. Hanging out in the breezeway and kids playing in none designated areas are a huge no no as well. These things will be struckly enforced. Yeah right! Ask me how many times Ive had to deal with people loud and smoking weed in front on my door. Or spit on the stairs because theyve been smoking cigarettes out there. Ask me how many times these inconsiderate folks just walked into my apartment in my sleep and startled me. Ask me how many times I have had to call to get loud kids out of the parking lot because they were throwing rocks behind the cars and screaming in front of my window. Management knows that I work overnight and so do many others in the complex. They claim to be very strict on the rules and regulations of the Hunter Ridge Apartments lease violations. However, it seems that they do not care about their tenants safety and peace....they only want their money!!!

Avoid my sons closet had rain water pouring in due to whatever on roof blew off everything in my sons closet is wet and in garbage bags they will not provide you or your insurance company with a work order of what happened to your apartment even if the roof caved in the maintenance guy told my husband that the guy did not screw the shingles down tight and when a strong storm came through water was pouring in because it blew off now the rent office is stating that this did not happen and I got 7 bags of clothing wet. This is a show that they dont care but want their rent money. Everything that glitters is not gold. Then this new lady they have is rude as the devil poor customer service as a business owner as myself they way they treat their customers will tear down they business follow your first mind and go with that as soon as our lease expires my family and I will be moving out. Great school system for the kids but this property Management system is horrible. Avoid moving here we are on a hope and prayer that nothing else bad happens.

Good place to Live but u got to have a car to take your trash to the trash

My grandparents live there and wanted to move cause of the ghetto people and shooting they both passed a while ago only good thing is its in Jefferson County limits and it has a pool but the dont even clean it half the time

It’s a nice place to visit and you wouldn’t mind living there!

They started off being nice, honestly they won’t come out and fix anything unless they have to come out of pocket for it. The people in the rent office attitudes are horrible. They don’t take the time to talk to you to figure out your problems. They rush every conversation. I’ve been staying here going on 2 years and my mircowave went out 3 months ago and they always have an excuse as to why it hasn’t come in yet. I’d be wrong if I don’t pay my rent until it comes in cause the mircowave is included with the apartments, but no need. I’m going to keep it professional and just move. Cause it’s sad that we done have what’s included and I’m sure it doesn’t take 3 months for a microwave to come in. Then not just the mircowave, it’s so much more that I’ve asked them to come fix and it has yet to be done, the sink in kitchen, the sink in both bathrooms, vent in master bed room, water heater, & the garbage disposal. Then they half cut the grass over here. They only do enough to get by. The breeze way looks a hot mess cause they don’t come spray or clean. The pest control has only been to my apartment once and I’ve been here going on 2 years. I wouldn’t move here again and I wouldn’t recommend no one else to.

Hunter Ridge apartments are some of the nices section 8 apts in Birmingham however some people are not use to having nice things and they do not care about their living conditions. So that makes it hard for residents that know how to appreciate things. Thes apartments are neglected by management as well, they are not well kepted on the outside at all. I have been here 5 yrs and every year gets worst. Management sucks, the hallways are filthy people throw garbage bags full of trash, toys, box springs and etc.... over the rails in the back where I live. They barely ever pressure wash the halls some of my neighbors have rats 🐀. I have spiders 🕷 getting in my place coming out of my bath drains looking like tarantula’s. The rats in the hallways are so big from eating all the trash that’s being thrown outside by the nasty resident, that my son thought they were cats. 🤦🏿‍♀️ I’m only staying here so that my child can graduate from her school of choice. I wouldn’t suggest these apartments to anyone. Even Though I’m satisfied with the inside of my apartment, The filt is depressing 😩 and money orders for rent and water somehow always coming up missing so make sure you keep your receipts or they will try to make you pay again.
