The guys running this shop hooked up my trailer and got me going with the right equipment in short order. When I came late to return the trailer, they were still there and made it easy to drop off. I was trying to use the app and it wasnt working. Good people there.

Very friendly and competent staff member or owner was on site all day. 10/10 would use again (and Ive had such bad experiences with U-haul dealers in the past that I was scared to ever use one again).

Today was my 2nd rental at this location and on both occasions had the pleasure of renting from Travis. This employee is probably one of your biggest assets in the entire state 😁 - whether y’all are aware or not. He’s genuine, a kind soul, professional, efficient, and incredibly knowledgeable (even about various things that they didn’t have to spend the time to help me with - they went above and beyond).I had a lot of questions, and random requests when I’ve rented and have gotten chatty in these isolating pandemic-times. Travis made it super easy for me, explained exactly what I asked for help with, managed multiple customers solo like a pro, and also was a pleasure to interact with. I would drive an extra hour to rent from this location, rather than the idea of dealing with a cranky, jerky “regular” employee that is much more common (and not just at Uhaul). As someone who stays in my tiny bubble, that’s saying a LOT, lol.I never wanted to use uhaul services EVER again after a horrendous experience in 2018, but with my only 2 experiences since being at the Gilman St location, and on both dates with Travis, I have changed my mind. Hire more people like them - or maybe they should be the one hiring/training…anyway - thank you for an excellent experience, in what was expected to be super stressful and unpleasant - absolutely saved the day - TWICE! I hope they’re appreciated and paid properly - they’re a gem.

Small spot with friendly folks, laughter is often heard in the office ,paperwork is straightforward and standardized for industry. Very close to highway and ease in pickup and dropping off trucks.

Make sure you check gas gage according to what you sign on your contract.I signed for less that was in the gas tank AND take photo of gauges including odometer readings as a proof. Prior to drop off filled the tank according to what contract stated. Day later I get bill for $40 extra for 10 gallons. Tried to go to office at 4:15pm and everyone is long time gone. After hour with customer service and email with proof of charge I got my $40 back.

The worker was more interested in getting off from workbthan helping. Did not have equipment ready so had to return the next day. Also turned away a customer attempting to return items. Not much for customer service.

Called them multiple times to rent a truck. No answer. Left a message; no response...

This place is by far one of the better options whrn dealing with Uhaul. The guy was nice, direct, and efficient. I was in and out within 10 min.

I have rented trucks here twice and have had great experiences here both time. The staff is really friendly and I was able to get in and out quickly. Both times the trucks were in good shape and I didnt have any problems. Much better than some of the other local truck rental locations.

My paypal account was drained by the kid who works here after he got off work. I think he bought a new iphone through Cricket wireless. Definitely watch out. Im gonna press charges. I think the owner should know a thief is running this place while hes away.

Friendly customer service, good rates. We rented from this location for our business dozens of times when we needed a truck for the day. Always gave us great rates and make check in and out quick and easy. Place is a little run down, but it didnt effect the truck or the service.

I used these guys for a move recently and theyre great. After my last U-Haul attempt (where I had to go to 3 places to get someone to meet my reservation) they were a breath of fresh air: I showed up and there was a truck.The guys who run the place seem pretty nice and theyre on top of things.

These people know how to run a business. I rented from them multiple times, and every time they are courteous and helpful. Never cost me a dime more than it should have, and everything was in order. If there is a problem let them know and theyll take care of it.I will always rent from these people. I have been disappointed by uhaul, but never by this location.

The price estimate I received for 180 miles, and the final charges were totally different. When I called to express this, they said That was just an estimate. I just feel like the estimate was super misleading. Online it said for 180 miles I would be charged like 35 cent/mile. In the end, I ended up being charged .79 cents/mile for 100 miles and the 30 cents/mile for just the last 70 miles. To rent a van for 12 hours, I paid $152. Ill never rent from U-Haul again.

Reserved using 24/7 app. Ubered to location. Not the reservation says I have to wait until they open tomorrow morning. Waiting on someone to pick up at the 24/7 line to resolve...

Had to rent a 20ft and a 10ft truck within the same week to move houses within East Bay. Both times I got fast, courteous service on pickup and drop-off. These guys are great and deserve praise for it. Will use every time I need a truck.

Its a U-haul... Customer service was pretty good. They sell boxes for a decent price, but if you wish to rent a truck for long distances dont expect it to be cheap :/

These guys have their act together. Rented a 17 ft truck online. It was ready to go at the scheduled time with very little paperwork. Returning was eve faster!

Easy drop off after hours.

I had heard that others had problems with this rental location. For me, it was really easy. When I first called, they told me they had no one-way trucks available but that I should call on Monday because they expected some to come in over the weekend. I called on Monday and the local agent got my reservation started, but he ran into a problem and passed me to the central reservations office who got me set up and texted me the confirmation. When I arrived to pick up the truck nearly a week later, everything was all set for me. Drop off at my destination was already set up when I arrived so I just turned over the keys and I was done. I really cannot imagine it being easier.

Nice employees but poor stock of trailer accessories and they didnt know youre supposed to cross the safety chains when attaching trailer to tow vehicle. Its a good idea to read the U-Haul trailer guide and not assume the employees are 100% on the ball.

I would give a minus 5 if there is such an option.I made a reservation 3 days before my moving day, the night before the scheduled date they called me said they dont have the truck i wanted. I had to accept either reschedule to one day after or cancel the reservation.I called the customer service complained about it, they said they were sorry but they cant do anything. And I DO NOT qualify the so called reservation guaranteed $50 because the representative called me to cancel.This is the worst service experience i had ever had in this country and i would never suggest any of my friends use UHaul if their schedule is fixed

Horrible location - Do not trust them. ON THE DAY OF MY MOVE, 30 minutes before I was supposed to get my truck, they told me they just dont have any available even though I reserved it weeks ago.They didnt even seem to care that they ruined my moving plans and I had no truck for my movers that showed up.Avoid these horrible people.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!Not only is this location 30-60% overpriced compared to the Oakland and Richmond locations, but their service is terrible and they lie without any regret whatsoever; I have absolutely no idea how they got their previous 5 star reviews, but after my experience, I have a hunch theyre forged reviews. Here is my story:The saga began with my ordering moving supplies for in-store pickup. When I went to pick up the supplies later that day, the supplies were gone; the sales associated, Nicole, informed me that she had accidentally sold my supplies earlier in the day, and that if I wanted my supplies, I would have to drive to another store to pick them up. No apology, no offer to make it right, just a try another store. I asked her to call the location she recommended to see if they had the supplies: No, because they definitely have the supplies, just go there. I insisted she call and check: No, Im busy helping other customers. I was the only person in the store. So I leave and call the location she recommended; surprise surprise, no supplies. I had to drive all the way down to Oakland just to get the supplies I had bought from this store.I wish this were the end of the story; I wish that this was an isolated incident I could write off to a bad day. No such luck.When I had finished my move and went back to this store (with great trepidation) to sell back my unused boxes, Nicole and Jonathan informed me that we no longer buy back boxes. This, despite the promises on the side of the box, and their own promises when I bought the boxes in the first place. I told them I had confirmed that this store would buy back the boxes: not anymore. I asked to call their boss; they told me no, and that this refusal was coming straight from the owner, so you wouldnt get anything different. I had to drive 30 minutes out of town to a distribution center in order to sell back the boxes that this location refused.In short, this store is an overpriced den of duplicitous and incompetent thieves; do yourself a favor and just go to the Richmond Uhaul on 23rd street; they have been helpful, 50% cheaper, and always have honored their promises. AVOID THE GILMAN U--HAUL AT ALL COSTS!P.S. Found out that they are not accredited with the BBB when I went to file a complaint; if you need another reason to avoid this establishment, there it is.

My confirmed reservation for a 15 truck was down graded to a 10 truck 1 day before scheduled pickup, after I had booked and confirmed it 3 days in advance. They screwed me over and tried to bait and switch me.

Used them for multiple rentals including a house move, never had any problems with them and would recommend them to anyone who needs a rental truck..

Made a reservation but the location didnt honor the time and refused the reservation with no reason. On the phone for an hour with poor customer service and no help/compensation.

The guys at this place were helpful, patient, and got me out with the truck ASAP. Were very helpful when I called and had to return the truck after hours - just dropped the keys in the box and parked it.

The two little blacks often mark more than the actual situation, and take pictures in time to get back to explain. In addition, picking up a car is always slow. There are more people in this place.
