We went for our friends album release show, great vibes and really neat venue. Very 70s theme but honestly if your into that great place to just look around at all the decorations. Even the bathroom had great decorations. Recommend stopping by to go back in time.

Could do with better name recognition or signage from the street---given what you have going on. Not bad not bad at all on the 1969 Peoples Park unseen hippy photos. I heard there were concerts over here....when? Nice looking collection of records. Will have to scope them out next time Im in town.

Stepping inside the Art House Gallery is like stepping into a time portal back to the 60s. Between the historical and psychedelic artwork, the books and record collections, a space for small intimate musical shows, the space cherishes and creates good vibes, and at the same time acts as a time capsule for the hippie era. I cant wait to go back with more friends to explore the space more deeply, listen to music, and most importantly hear more stories from Harold.

Randomly stumbled into Art House today after seeing a sign up for free books. Beautiful space, lovingly decorated, filled with art and music. It felt like being transported into a different era, a living historu. Harold was super friendly and helped us get acquainted with the space. Highly recommend a visit!

A very cool place if youre into a genuine, heart-felt continuation of the bay area 60s vibe. Cool wall decor (historic photos and paintings), cool owner, and a nice place for music shows.

My friend and I stumbled upon the Art House last week and were stunned by the beautiful, historical photography on display. I bought a couple beautiful reprints of the Oracle from the 1960s for $0.50 each and was treated to some oral history from none other than the lovely Harold himself. Will definitely come again!

Great musical talent every month. The performances here continue to surprise me with some of the most professional and experienced musicians I have ever met. Profoundly friendly and welcoming. Bring your Tie-Dyed shirt if you want to fit in.The Pot-Luck events have been great. Bring fresh fruit salad if you want to please the host! Herald is a joy, and his famous Berkeley photojournalistic work lines the side walls in black and white. This is where the local musicians hang out on Saturday nights...

VERY Berkeley, a walk down Sixties memory lane. From a magnificent lava lamp collection to old posters on the wall to a wall of books selling for $1 to fabulous photos of the Panthers and protests of that era. The owner is so helpful and appreciative and wears many hats. Its funky but wonderful. I want to go there for many more things! Performers and audience connect easily!

This is an amazing 60s venue where you can see live bands perform, and meet friendly new faces, in a unique and cozy, huge-living-room-type environment. To say it is one of a kind in Berkeley is an understatement, but one-of-a-kind in the world might be more accurate! The venue is also available to rent for private parties/events!

The Art House, tucked away behind a big silver gate on Shattuck Ave. is a bit of a surprise. Covered in artwork with psychedelic drawings and posters, as well as, a table lined with lava lamps, the converted barn now music/art venue transports you to a time and place of make love, not war. The owner & staff of the venue are very welcoming and make you feel comfortable from the moment you enter the door.Peter Lewis from the band Moby Grape & his daughter (my niece) Arwen Lewis put together a magical night where they included several talented members of the family to perform including a beautiful and soothing harp performance, a stand-up base player and an a cappella duet. A mind bending light show accompanied the performance and provided the backdrop to the stage. At times I was transfixed by the lights and sounds of the show. Its definitely worth a visit to the Art House even if you dont know the performer.
