I had a fabulous experience with the technician - they swung by my apartment because they were already doing work in the building and was able to get my heater/AC unit running in about 10 minutes. They were respectful and brought a mat to cover the floor as they worked. Since it was a 10 minute job and all they did was reset my AC, they told me I would not be charged for the visit and gave me all the information for replacing the unit, which I will need to do soon.My problem is with their office - Two weeks after, I get an email from their office, insisting that I will be charged for the service and telling me that I should be considerate of the labor that goes into the work, which is not even the issue at hand. They went back on their word, send me an invoice that I had not signed because we (as in, me and the technicians that were in my apt) had agreed that I would not be charged, and on top of that, they charged me tax on a service. As a small business owner, I am distinctly aware that services are often not taxed, only products are. I double checked with the NJ sales tax guide - which specifically says that home repairs on residential heating systems are NOT taxed. We had every intention of paying a premium and having Jonair replace both the units in our home when we were ready, but this experience with their office and their questionable invoicing /tax policy has left a really bad taste in our mouth.
