I would not trust another shop in Bellingham, WA to work on my 1986.5 Volkswagen Scirocco 16V, but the one and only: HMC Garage! Amelia worked continuously to make things right and find all that was needed and is an expert on technicalities, parts, and explanations on work needed to be performed; amazing lady and always kept me informed; plus she was so kind and thorough with my questions to boot. Paul is one heck of an an experienced mechanic, VW expert and about so many vehicles; all his mechanics in the HMC Garage shop he delegates to are exceptional as well. HMC Garage did everything possible to make my baby run like it hasnt run in years, bumper to bumper and everything in between. I have spent countless hours and energy over they years on my rig, and somethings I just cant do anymore. HMC Garage went above and beyond, were so completely professional, top notch, and patient to make sure all technicalities about my vehicle will come together. And just completely so fair on prices of everything they do. Ive been looking for such caring and loving experts for well over a decade and I am just so pleased I found them by referral. If theres something on the vehicle they feel will make it more sound, they have the great network of other specialists to bring your vehicle to perfect running order as well as beautification. 20 Stars out of 10! Note they own Heavy Metal Custom Shop as well if you are restoring, putting together the beasts of Americana, Muscle Car or Truck. I just got my 1971 Westfalia engine and exhaust system worked on by Paul and his crew. WOW they did a amazing job! For a fair price. I have dealt with VW mechanics from here to Seattle and HCM garage has been the best by far. I highly recommend them for restoration work. I added a before and after pics below!

HMC Garage does the highest quality work possible with fair and honest pricing as well. Ive been 100% pleased with regular maintenance work, suspension upgrades and exhaust replacement. Since Wolfsburg in Ballard closed a decade ago Ive been searching for the best shop and this is it. Amelia was very easy to discuss my needs and Paul is the expert you need for your Syncro.

Absolutely fantastic shop. I had a timing issue with my 2004 A4 1.8T and needed to drive to Indiana in three days from when I called them. They managed to fit me in, diagnose the car, and fix it before I had to leave for the trip; I had called five other mechanics who didnt think they would be able to fit me in during the timeframe I gave them. HMC Garage definitely know their stuff and do a fantastic job! The car ran absolutely perfectly the entire 1800 mile drive and I had no issues whatsoever.

My overall experience with HMC Garage has been nothing short of perfect.While dealing with my various automotive issues, they were very respectful of existing knowledge I had on the issue, they did not try to push repairs that I said I could do on my own, and they seemed very happy with simply being my go-to in case I had any issues or questions.I had a situation too where I was unable to get my car for an extended period of time, because of my work schedule, and they called me to inform me that they typically charge a storage fee for vehicles like mine that stay for a while, but if I picked it up that day they would let it slide. This situation just goes to show that they are very patient, understanding, and caring for their customers and are not out for every penny.I am pleased with them, and definitely recommend. They will remain my go-to going forward.

HMC is a fantastic shop with a great staff. Always friendly and willing to take the time to explain problems and priority of repair. As a woman I feel taken seriously and treated honestly which I greatly appreciate. Id highly recommend them.

I had a great experience with HMC garage after my car slid off the freeway in inclement weather. The owner, Paul, was so great to work with and went out of his way to help me. His staff made sure my car was safe to get back on the road and even helped with the documentation I needed to submit an insurance claim. I couldnt ask for better service. I would absolutely recommend them and will definitely use their services again.

On a recent trip to Bellingham my 1968 Volkswagen bus broke a clutch cable. Thankfully I found HMC garage. Every other garage I called refused to help me , sighting that my car was too old. HMC worked me into their schedule and got me back on the road in a timely manner. Thank you for being so Awesome!

Professional highly trained staff keeps me road worthy. The owner is highly knowledgeable and makes the time to educate you on any aspect of your vehicle youre unsure or concerned about. Ive been with HMC since theyve opened five stars then and five stars to this day. Comfortable, clean waiting area is a bonus.

We were a night away from beginning an extended road trip to Bellingham from SW New Mexico. The timeframe was cut short by loud grumbling from the front end of our 1997 Eurovan camper which local mechanics had not been able to resolve.Knowing Bellingham has many more Eurovans than New Mexico, we made an appointment at HCM for three days later. We practically drove non-stop, nursing to get there in hopes that the shop would be as good as its recommendations. It was.They diagnosed each problem we specified and took care to complete the extensive, though not as expensive as we had feared, project in time for us to enjoy our stay with family and friends and then get safely back on the road. No further problems with front end since.We were quite pleased with HMC Garage. They even gave us a good recommendation for a mechanic much closer to home who has been just as good.Thanks Amelia and crew.

Recently brought our 82 air cooled Vanagon to this shop after purchasing it and found that it needed a full engine rebuild on top of many other things amounting to 12000+. This shop made things seem very urgent. We wanted a second opinion so we took it to a well known VW shop in Edmonds called Porbug. We did not reveal any of HMCs recommendations to Porbug. Porbug did find some things that needed attention adding up to no more than 1600 and they debunked most of HMCs urgency towards various things we ‘needed’ done. When we brought the van to HMC it was running fairly smoothly other than a loud exhaust leak, after picking it up it only ran on 3 cylinders and we found that they did not reconnect a fuel injector. When I confronted them about the loss of power they claimed it had ran poorly before they even got it in the shop. HMC does not understand the phrase , “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.” We would not recommend these sly people to anyone.
