Kudos to them for their devotion to their mission. Theirs is not an easy job and can often be emotionally draining. They took good care of my little guy before I was able to rescue him. Ill be eternally grateful for this match made in heaven.

The people at the shelter are so very helpful and dont become pushy. It was an amazing experience. Over the years, I have adopted 2 animals from this shelter, and couldnt be happier with my decision! 👍 Thanks for giving the animals a second chance ❤️

My recent visit here was definitely a delight!!! The animals all seem to be taken great care of and its very clean. The staff here is very knowledgeable and they are all extremely helpful. Will definitely be returning and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to adopt a pet!!!!

This was the most delightful way to find and adopt my new furbaby. The people were amazing and very knowledgeable about each resident even though I knew which one I wanted before I got there. I had been checking the availability everyday on the website. As soon as I saw her I put my application in and made an appt to see her ASAP! It was love at first sight and she became mine. Shortly after, she qualified as an emotional support animal and is able to go everywhere with me.I love my Buttercup from HSSET.Just an FYI… if you are looking for a small dog they are rapidly adopted, so check the site daily. You fill a application out online and they call you to come in by appointment! We adopted September ( now Sebastian) and I couldnt be happier!! Such a beautiful handsome cat!! I am fostering 2 young cats for HSST. The staff are all very caring and attentive to the welfare and health of the animals in their care.

The lady showing the dog was very dry and kind of rude like I was wasting her time. She took a long time to answer questions I asked and didn’t say much but thought it was hilarious when the puppy bit me!!!!

Well my experience was not well there the woman I spoke to was very dry wish I would’ve got her name and although their volunteers they might take care of the pets but I don’t think they have great customer service myself. my first experience with adopting an animal and it was horrible coming from this place . They also require to much just to adopt a pet .. These are strays not Thoroughbred animals that usually cost 1000 or something dollars to purchase but to each his own.. I personally wouldn’t recommend this place.

Adopted my new female cat after the death my previous one. Staff was wonderful. Didnt catch her name, but work in the afternoon on Friday (17 Jan 20)... very friendly and professional. I was surprised by all the updated care my cat received while residing in the facility. Highly recommend this place if you want to be a fur parent.

When looking for a pet, adopt from Beaumont Shelter on Pine Street instead. People there are very nice.I was interested in adopting a dog at the Humane Society and right away the manager said its not a good fit for you. I had had back surgery a few weeks before and walked with a cane. She said the dog will need a lot of exercise. She said this before the meet and greet. It turned out the dog was indifferent and not interested in being around us so THAT was the determining factor for not adopting him. I dislike negative people who think they know it all. She didnt even give it a chance to see how we interacted before commenting. Right away it was not a good fit. People like her are a real turn off which is a real shame for the animals. Her comments may turn people away.

You walk in and they ask for you to fill out an application, after that youre set to go look at the animals. The dogs they had here look very comfortable but oh so eager to find a new family to be with. Theyve got it very clean too. Theres no noticeable smell, other than the cleaning materials they used, in the dog area like there is with the animal shelter. Pleasing experience, we will be back next time we adopt.

I know they try to do best they can. But I adopted a dog from them that had issues. They said it was good with cats. I got her home she tried to kill my cat. I bought her right back. I learned ask a lot of questions that being said I still believe that they do try to help the animals

Ive been there several times recently to help coordinate a fundraiser. The animals always seem to be extremely happy. The employees and volunteers are very helpful and really seem to love animals. The cages are always clean and there has never been a smell. Somebody is always walking a dog. They seem to be well cared for.

They may do a good job at times.. But unfortunately after volunteering with my children several times and finding a 5 week old puppy on the side of the freeway and them telling me it was my responsibility to find something to do with it and right behind me come a friend of one of the workers with a dog and gave some sob story they took the dog in. Its like many places, its all about who you know.

Seems to be undergoing several changes in both staff and structure, but still taking great care of the animals under their care!Generally, has alot going on at the entrance, so it could take a moment to speak with staff. Once available, the staff are incredibly helpful.The only problems I can point out are things like how crowded some of the kennels are, but that is something they are trying to rectify now.

Located close to Lamar University where my kids attended TGS it was well worth the drive down and back from Dallas to adopt. Full of loving and caring volunteers this shelter is an incredible nonprofit. Great set of medical records provided and their care shows. Please give their precious furbabies a look. Babies or adults, theyll all give you love and affection.And hey!!! They have a Black Friday adoption special posted - I would prefer a loving pet for a gift over an expensive gift any and every day of my life. Animals, priceless!!!

My girlfriend and I visited this place to adopt a kitten, and we had succeeded. We adopted an orange kitten. The employees there were so kind and friendly, they helped us with every step of the process and made it easy. I definitely would recommend this place if you are wanting to adopt an animal.

Edit 1/4/19: 4 stars for a very good experience speaking with the woman in charge about my time at the shelter. Initially this review was at 3 stars for my experience, but the shelter manager has reached out to set things right.I have recieved another call from the actual manager from the humane society. I had initially requested the manager at the time I had made this review, but apparently somehow one of the vets had gotten the memo instead of the manager. So my whole experience has come back around again as the manager called and calmly explained everything and taken my concerns amicably. Would definitely recommend stopping by here. For the sake of clarity I will leave my initial review up because it is an important part of my experience, but I was extremely happy to have an attentive shelter manager follow up with me after such a long time.Initial review from December:We adopted a very sweet old cat from the Humane Society and had a great experience during the adoption process. The facility was very clean, very well organized, although everything felt a little pushy. Shortly thereafter we brought the cat to our vet, who identified significant ear problems and the teeth on one side of her face likely being dead. We got her treatment and I since then had tried to speak with someone at the society about concerns I had about her care.In reply, the edit:Vetrenarian went off on a raging rant at me at how they don’t have the facilities to check her teeth and ears. Now I wasn’t looking for confrontation, all I wanted was to let someone know that maybe check the cats a bit better or to inquire if there was some way to help them with that. But I couldn’t get a word in edgewise with this woman. She would not let me talk and seemed to think that this was some kind of attack.I care about animals, we got Marilyn treated as soon as we could. I know people at the humane society care, and there are limits to what can be done. I just wanted to let them know we’d helped Marilyn a bit more. I didn’t need to have someone on the other end of the phone speak to me like I’m 5 in an angry tone, especially after I had explained I wasn’t attempting to make this confrontational.(And again, that has since happened today, 1/4/19)

We went there looking for a cat, our cat Is 2 years old and wanted a companion for him, well my son was somewhat overwhelmed at the number of cats and kittens there, he had settled on a little gray and white one at first, then he got looking around more, and seen this 7 month old kitten in the lower kennel of the kennels against the other wall, so we put the grey one back, got this one out, and I noticed the ears, I told him to look close, he seen it was the tufts of a Mainecoon, he has been wanting one for some time, so there was no turning back, we had been pre-approved, and our current cat, Onyx had come from there back before Harvey, so we had cat #2, Artemis was coming home with us, the people were great there, only reason I give 4 stars not 5, is there was some confusion on paper work at the first, took a bit to sort it all out, but in the end, it all worked out

Im fostering a pure cattle dig named Baby. They supply everything you need to foster. Food, heartworm & flea meds. Also bed & toys. You are doing a good thing to foster so the critters can be more socialized & therefore highly adoptable.

I have fostered for the Humane Society of Southeast Texas. They work diligently to give all animals a second chance at forever homes. Great people here in Southeast Texas.

We got our second muttie from Southeast Texas Humane Society and were so thankful for him. Well definitely look into all future adoptions with them. The service they provide to save many animals lives is invaluable and very much appreciated. If youre thinking about adding a furry family member, please choose adoption! The animal will be spayed or neutered to keep future animals from overpopulation and out of shelters. A lot of work is put into keeping precious animals from having to be euthanized. Choose adoption!

They ship animals to other cities and rarely provide a chance for local adoption.

We were blessed to get our beautiful, sweet German Shepherd/Australian Shepherd mix here over 12 years ago. We will be back to continue the tradition.

We adopted our sweet Gabby today and they made the process easy. Very professional and friendly.

Because I just read a tearful story that they made a family sign a paper to have their 2 dogs put down because they got out the gate and was running down the street. Not because they bit somebody, not because they growled at someone, not even because they attacked anything, but because they were running down the street.

I wouldn’t recommend this because they doesn’t good communication skills plus I had twice times to submit for surrender forms and they not response me even I am Deaf person how they are horrible neglect me. I am tired of waiting and they wasting my time. If anyone ask me about this and will explain them about what happen so ruin their reputation.

I just got a cat to day . She is amazing I love her so much she is the best . she is getting used to her know home . She is getting used to her new family . She is so loving and she is so kind and com . She followed me aroud all the time we named her Roxie she has been eating we got her cat toys . And food and treats and we got her a litter box . We also got her a perch condo .. it is like something she hide in .. she runs a lot she follows me around....

The animals here are taken care of by wonderful people...but still need their forever home! Adopt a dog or cat!

The absolute worst place to ever go get an pet told me my puppy was heartworm negative found out two weeks later she has severe heart worms their only solution instead of helping me with the heartworm is to bring her back or treat her myself Im disabled and shes a companion animal and Im on a fixed income theres no way Im giving her a back now so adopt here at your own risk UPDATE: just found out she is also is full of intestinal worms. Its becoming clear they are not treating their dogs for the minor of issues. SHAME ON THESE THEIFS

The volunteers and staff are simply amazing. These dedicated professionals care so much for the pets they are responsible for...they are fast, friendly and a delight to work with. I personally live in washington state and have found the perfect friend for life in our dog buck and now we are getting a 2nd dog from this specific shelter because of our experience the first time around. Now we are adding a 2nd dog to the family and despite the distance and extra time it takes to adopt from so far away, Carrie, Colleen and Bree are the absolute best people to work with and I highly recommend anyone who wants to become a responsible pet owner to work with this shelter.
