Ruben took exceptional care of me throughout the whole process of buying my 2014 Jeep Patriot! I truly think I couldnt have been treated any better.. Extremely happy with my experience dealing with Thelen, Ruben, and their finance department. If you are looking for a nice ride, and stress free encounter with a top notch sales pro, look no further. Went to Thelen this past week to have a burnt out headlight bulb replaced on my 2017 Jeep Cherokee. Quoted me $260. Was told, reason for the price, because of the battery placement and they needed to remove battery in order to get to the bulb---extra time and extra labor. I may be a woman, but I did do some research prior to bringing my vehicle in. Told him I knew where my battery was located and asked to have technician show me. Gentleman excused himself----make sure it was safe for me to enter the work area. Came back 10 minutes later and told me he misspoke. Now the price was less. Gladly pay labor charges----seriously, charging me for the use of your tools? Havent been to Thelen since 1992. Now I know why. Seriously---treat your customers the way you would want your family to be treated. Honesty apparently isnt your policy. People always speak more about bad experiences than they ever do the good experiences. Wont be back. Good luck.

I prematurely rated this dealership negatively and I wrote a bad review. I could not have been more wrong about them. Once they were aware of the situation they went above my expectations and made it right ! I love my Buick and could not be more happy with my car so the fact that they stepped in and made sure it was 100% for my family and I. I will always be grateful I thousand percent recommend this dealership and will make sure any one I know who needs a car knows the trip to Bay City it isWORTH it as they actually do back up there word !

I bought a used, 4 year old from this new car dealer. We haggled a bit on price, nothing extreme, and agreed on a 18k price, with it being certified used. This is a Saturday: says theyll call me on Tue. I didnt hear anything, so on Wed I call. They said they had to fix one more thing on it and waiting for a part to come in for the back seat. Said it should be ready Friday. I said OK, sometimes things happen. They never call. I stop Sat, now a week later. The same salesman says I should be able to get my car in a day or two. He slides me an invoice and says I have to pay another $1200 to get this part and make it certified, or I can take the car as-is without warranty. We agreed on a certified car a week ago and he just pretends like its not a big deal hes asking me to pay more money for something Ive already paid for and have receipts for. He wont budget and sends me to the new-car manager (used-manager was was off).Manager talks to the salesman to get details. Comes in and explains that the part is expensive and its going to be $700 w/o labor, and its over their allotted, set budget on used cars to fix it. I explained I paid for certified, and salesman just nonchalantly expects me to pay this additional bill out of thin air. There was no discussion about paying anything more for the car to certify it. The manager is surprised, and leaves to go talk to the salesman. He comes back, seems annoyed, and apologizes and didnt realize the deal was done before he talked to me and thought I was paying to have it certified. The salesman lied/didnt tell the manager the screw up he did. The manager said he understands its a bad situation, and he should not have sold the car as it was...but acts like his hands are tied on the matter and they cant budge on the cost. I had looked up a few parts at online vendors for around $500, and show him on my phone the sites (all of which this seems really silly, after the fact). We talk a bit more, and he says hell chase down those leads but regardless get it fixed, sorry for the hassle, and that hell have to have a talk with the salesman. Manager says hell have the car ready by Wednesday, Thursday at the latest with everything done, and theyll call me. Great, I leave, annoyed and frustrated, but at least things will be done soon. I side-eye the salesman on the way out and he just kind of looks at me.A week later, on the third Saturday now, I go back to the dealer. Im mad, noone has called me and its been two weeks. I had two other new cars from this place and had a great experience, albeit problem free. I ask salesman whats going on, wheres my car. He sits me down, says all I have to do is pay the cost of the part ($700~) and theyll get it installed quick on Monday and Ill be on my way. He pretends nothing has happened and like he didnt screw up/I wasnt here last weekend, and that I have to pay this. I lose my cool, go through the whole thing again, and refuse to spend any more money. He starts to balk a bit, and I notice a few salesman standing around talking to a few customers. I get mad, and deliberately drop the f-bomb, and everyone looks our way and it gets quiet. The actual Used Car manager is standing there, and he comes rushing over to ask whats going on (the new-car manager is sick this week). I said the salesman lied and he hasnt delivered on the car. He talks for the salesman a bit to the side, and then has me go to his office.I go through the entire thing with him. I say the salesman tried to pass me a bill twice, lied to the manager about promising me the car certified at 18k, and I went through this all last weekend with the new-car salesman, and he said everything would be taken care of. He goes out to talk to the salesman. He comes back, apologizes, and says my car will be ready on Tuesday and there wont be a charge. I thank them and leave. Tuesday the salesman calls me to tell me the car is ready. Never apologizes or says anything.Had to fight to get a car I paid for two weeks later. No effort to make it right. Find better service elsewhere.

I was offered a job as a trainee technician (atleast under the pretenses of which) here under one of the top techs in the Subaru shop. I had an interview with the service manager (Shannon) and it went very well and I was what she described as a very, very, very strong candidate and was very excited to have me on board. I loved every minute of it, I was getting good at what I was doing, and the time it was taking me to get jobs done was getting shorter and shorter with each repetition. I kept busy, constantly at the service desk looking for work and when I wasnt I was doing my part and keeping my area clean and organized. This was until Shannon had called me back to the office and tells me I dont think you will be a good fit here. And proceeded to insult me with an alternative position with a $4 pay cut!! I was given vague, generalized and downright child-ish explanations as to why I was being moved away from the position and at that point I was very disappointed and did not want to come back. These people are not looking to help you build a career or go through the patience of letting someone learn, instead they want someone who develops a skill overnight and settles for peanut pay. employees consistently complain about how they can never get enough hours or make enough money.. theres so much more i could elaborate on.. the fact they give themselves a pat on the back to improve their own ratings on Indeed should tell you everything.. potential employees, steer clear!!

NEVER buy a used vehicle from Thelen, they sold me a car with a bent frame. Supposedly they check all of the cars for any mechanical issues, however when asked to see the safety check list, they would not produce one for me. Although it has been a year and a half since I purchased the vehicle, I have only put 12,000 miles on it. Just took it to a mechanic to get an alignment done, and found out the frame is bent because it was in an accident before I purchased it.Stay far away from this dealership.I doubt the dealership will do anything to make it right. Maybe a lemon law suit would be appropriate.

My experience with Tiffany was no pressure purchasing no pushy sales. My vehicle I had a few issues with the oil pan began to leak after a few weeks and when taken to a shop they showed me the damaged oil pan and dent in exhaust and said if I had hit something (which I did not) I would have known because of the extent of damage. Ultimately I had to pay $300 for repairs for damage I didnt cause. And if purchasing make sure they have detailed the car meticulously because I got my vehicle home and noted all kinds of pet hair in the carpets and back of car.

After finding the exact Jeep we wanted and getting the final numbers from Jacob at Thelen. The numbers did not match the listed price by at least $3000 or more. His reasoning is that the Thelen price listed on there website is for chrysler/Dodge/Jeep employees. No where on the listing did it say that (no disclaimer) etc. So my concern is if they start the deals out being misleading what else will they try to hide and not be upfront about.

The purchase of my used vehicle was great! Had zero problems with Mike the salesman, no pressure very friendly and worked hard to accommodate my needs. My problems so far, that is preventing a 5 star rating and may change with how they solve the problem. Within three days of taking ownership of my used car I was left broke down on the side of the road with major mechanical issues. The car was towed over 40 miles to the dealership at no cost to me and I was given a really crapy loaner with over 200000 miles on it. So it is in there shop and awaiting repair/approval from warranty company. It has been 24 hours with little to no communication with out me calling to get it. Hopefully they will resolve this issues in a timely manner and make things right so I can return and give them the five star review Mike so definitely earned.Well two weeks due to part delivery delays. Finally got the car back, fedex had the part stuck in Texas for a week plus. The honda service department has done a great job with the repair! Now keep in mind I have not even put 300 miles on the car.Left the dealership and went 30+ miles then another service light comes on so I return the next morning. They refuse to fix it and tell me it would be $250 to fix.

About a year ago I brought in my jeep that had been stolen, and would no longer run. First off, my insurance company had it towed to their lot. Almost a week later of calling everyday to see if my car had arrived, we decided to drive into the lot ourselves, and sure enough, it was back there. Finally they started working on it and after weeks and weeks of constant repair and calling back and forth they said that my car was finished. They gave me two separate keys, because they didnt bother to math the door key to the ignition key. When I started it up, it was loud, and stuttering. Which wasnt like that before. By the time I drove halfway to my house it had shut off three times on me when I was parked at a red light and the whole car would stall, making me restart the car. The final time I had decided to just pull into a parking lot and call it quirs, it shut off while I was turning a road and almost made me collide into another car. We had to call them to tow it back, and they spent yet another few weeks trying to fix it. All in all, they had to total my car. I would not go here again.

We are on our FOURTH vehicle purchased/leased from Thelen in Bay City. We have never had a bad experience. Sometimes cars have issues, and sometimes you wait longer than you want....but I am realistic and also work in Sales/Repair. It is never really the dealerships fault when something is wrong with the vehicle. We take it in, they fix it! Sometimes I am impatient, and that is NO fault of theirs. They are always pleasant, informative and patient with me as well (I can be a handful!) All of our cars have been wonderful and we are currently rocking TWO RAD cars! Both were very particular cars that Thelen was willing to go out of their way to get us. Thanks everyone!

These folks really dont know what they are doing. They leased us an SUV and we took it home. Two days later, they said they gave us the wrong SUV. What they actually did was processed the wrong paperwork on the vehicle we said we didnt want. So, they drove to our house and switched vehicles but never admitted they processed the wrong paperwork. The vehicle they delivered to us had a cut in the front bumper and never fixed it. I called and went to the sales department several times only to find the manager was out or on vacation but was assured each time this person would call me. You guessed it, I never received that call. I called to set up an appointment for an oil change with the Mazda dealership. They said we didnt need an appointment and just needed to go to the quick change located in their Ram dealership. We pulled in and the friendly lady was astonished that they sent us to them and that we were the second referral they received from the Mazda dealership. They did get the job done but I really dont think they know what they are doing at the Mazda dealership. We are turning the vehicle in and will never return to this dealership.

EDIT: Thelen Auto Group publicly commented on my facebook post asking for proof of my broken parts and asked for them to be brought to their designated location. I did so three weeks ago and haven’t been contacted since. Very poor business conduct.Recently purchased a used 2012 Buick Verano from The Thelen Auto Group, paid $6,900 cash for the vehicle. Two months off the lot I am now sinking over $1,000 into my car for a timing chain issue. When I had called the manager of the store that I purchased my car from to express this he stated and I quote “This is like purchasing a vehicle off of the side of the road you never know what you will get.” So for any of you out there like me a 23-year-old making their first car purchase, know that this dealership does not hold themselves to a higher standard than that of a Joe-Shmo on the side of the road. Very untrustworthy company.

I should have stayed away, but I gave them another chance.I reapplied and I got financed for my truck, but not the one I applied for. I applied for one truck, paperwork went thru and come to find out it wasnt the truck I originally wanted. Not that big of a deal, still was what I was looking for.Sales manager made me a deal on side steps since the truck I originally wanted had them and the truck I got did not. 2 days after buying the truck I wanted to have the steps put on and guess what, nobody wants to deal with me now, whether its a lack of communication between the sales manager and service and parts, dont know. Still waiting for a response from them on getting the work done. Apparently after the sale is final, so is any offer or communication with the buyer.Needless to say, they will not be doing anything to this truck now. I will be dealing with another dealer for maintenance, recalls and accessories ( like my side steps). The only reason I gave them 2 stars is because Hollie, our salesperson, was awesome to talk to.

Review №72

First of all, I want to say that don’t like to post a poor review unless I feel it is 100% accurate and founded.I myself am a small business owner, and know how detrimental a poor review can be to a company.I feel my interactions with Thelan Auto of Bay City was a one star, at best, throughout the entire purchase process. It started with me inquiring online about a used silver A4 Audi offered by Thelan. A sales person contacted me and I gave him a brief dialogue of what I was searching for.Main points:-Searching for used vehicle priced up to 15000, which the silver A4 was exactly what I was looking for.-Trading in with a vehicle with negative equity. After “listening” to my needs and exclaiming how he has an A4 and is very happy with it, I was excited to come in to test drive one. I was shown newer ones upon arrival and the silver one I was hoping to see wasn’t there. The newer models were out of my price range, as I stated in my phone conversation with this person. He then said that because of the state of the world, he’s sure they would be more apt to make a good deal happen for me. That was valid and I felt somewhat okay with moving forward with working with them, even though I was feeling unheard as to what I wanted.🤔I brought my 2016 Ford Focus in for an estimated trade in. It had 63000 miles and had no get up and go, especially shifting from 1st to 2nd (automatic). I had taken it in to two separate auto repair shops in Midland Quality Transmission (November 2019) and Auto Repair and Bushey Auotmotive (March 2020) with this “issue” and was assured my car is in excellent working order. (There was an extended manufacturer’s warranty on their dual-clutch transmission to 100,000 from 40,000 mi, which I dug up after they gave me a quote of 7000 trade). I know you get gouged on a trade in, but even my credit union said that was a lowball price. The sales person asked if I had known of any transmission issues (sloppy, clutch issues), and I told him of my plight and conveyed that the service professionals I brought it to said it was in perfect working order (now I know that was not the case). He acted perplexed that first day.The next day when I presented what I had found, he said he had known of this all along, which made me question his integrity.🤔I learned of the free fix from Ford and asked if I brought it back “fixed”, if I would get more for my trade. The answer was a definitive, absolute no. He went on to explain that car dealerships aren’t run like they were within the past two years as the “laws” have changed. There’s no dickering/negotiating prices anymore like it used to be done in the past.🤔I searched on their website, after leaving there empty handed, for a more affordable option. (Why did I go back you ask? They had already run all my financials and have a direct communication and do business regularly with my credit union. I really wanted to avoid any more dings to my credit score). Hindsight, I now know I would have gone elsewhere.I found a Mazda 6 that was in my price range, and the dealership had it listed over $3000 under kbb. Finally SOMETHING going in my favor with this place.Because I am a small business, unless I could close the deal at approx $22500 instead of $23500 in order for them to waive needing my 2018 and 2019 schedule K form. A little problem, because I had not yet filed my 2019 tax year yet. So, instead of having to jump through a bunch of financial hoops, I asked the salesperson if they would be willing to work with me on this $1000 deficit. Especially because of my trade in lowball and that he had initially said (the first day) they would be more apt to make a deal because of the state of the financial world.Thelan could give $200 towards this, and I would have to give $800. I pressed back with half way 500/500, but then he again stated that dealerships don’t “deal” the way they used to. Fine. They were to correct the low tire pressure light/issue, wax and detail the car for me to pick up the next day. Was this done? NO. At this point, I’m done.

If I could I would give this place zero stars. My husband and I have been car shopping for a couple of months. The perfect one popped up at Thelen. We called for price, gave the associate the lot number so we could make sure it was the correct one and she told us it was a bank lease and they were trying to get rid of it. The price was within our budget so we packed up our baby and headed over. My husband took it for a test drive and really liked it. We decided to go in and look at the financing options. She sent the finance manager over and all of the sudden the price for that vehicle was $7000 more than what we were told on the phone (Mind you this is a used vehicle 2014 with 50,000 miles on it). The guy continued and we told him that was way out of our budget. He asked why and we told him that the girl we were working with told us a different number. At that same moment the girl we had asked for came back over to see how it was going and the guy said rudely in front of us “we don’t have anything here within their cheap budget. They will have to look somewhere else”. I asked her about the vehicle she gave us the price for and she started back peddling. They couldn’t even show us the vehicle they had given us that better price for because it didn’t exist! She tried to tell us to look at a 2017 as it was $3000 cheaper than the used vehicle, but we decided with how we had been treated we would go somewhere else. I will never go back there and I will make sure to tell people about our horrible experience at this dealership. Warning they will lie to get you in the door and then try to mess with you. Thank you for taking advantage of us and for the horrible experience by wasting our time.

I took my truck there after hitting a deer, they properly repaired the frame from a previous auto accident, that a different body shop repaired. Not to mention the truck looks perfect! Keep up the good work!

Body shop did a real nice job on the front of my car. I had an issue with it and they got it right back in and took care of it. Looks great. I would have given them a 5* but also have a recall taken care of and the mechanic scratched up the valve cover. Also never clipped the wiring harness clips back in so the harness was hanging right by the drive belt. Body shop good... Mechanic shop not so much.

Amazing customer service. If you are a loyal customer they will go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied. When I got in an accident on the express they started working with my insurance company the moment I called them. My insurance does not have a free lease car on the policy, and Thelan offered me a lease car for free while they fixed mine. They completely exceeded my expectations. My car came back looking brand new. They even cleaned and conditioned it before they gave it back to me.

I would highly recommend them especially if you have any issues with your Honda including that there is an airbag recall that needs addressed according the the internet for almost all makes and models of Hondas. I was having an issue with my 2007 Honda Civic LX sedan not wanting to start for almost 14 hours which left me stranded outside of a store located in Bay City Michigan when Im originally from another County 2 or more hours away. All service technicians were very kind and even went way above tellin me that the do oil changes with the best oil out there for $34.99 out the door in which any and all maintenance to under the hood is included in that price along with a free car wash at the same time.

Shawn spent a lot of time with me, the inexperienced car buyer. He showed me endless cars and he never seemed uninterested or pushy. Which to me is a big deal because I’ve had an awful hard time with salesmen in the past. He seemed very genuine and his people skillls were quite above and beyond. Which I think it’s hard to believe the authenticity of ones personality when they are in the professions Shawn is in. Although, I didn’t buy a car from him yet due to personal finances, I assured him that I would come back and speak with him because of how comfortable I felt doing business with him and the dealerships. Thanks Shawn

Paid $3300 for a used Town and Country. EGR valve gave a service engine code less than two weeks after we bought it. The front driver tire is bulging now too. Its literally been driven less than 1000 miles since bought. Not happy at all. Was sold something that, instead of being fixed, got a reset to pass emissions tests. Edit: My wife was told there were no problems with this vehicle when we bought it.

This place is nothing but pathetic. If I could give them less then one star I would, one of the sales people started yelling at me because he lied to me how he was gonna run my loan. So I decided not to go though with the loan after all the lies. The sales person got mad and yelled at me and kicked a chair at me. So I talked to a manger who did nothing 😂. Sales guy was mike, manger was terry. Will never be back. Nor will I ever let family or friends ever buy a car from this horriabe place. Thanks for never calling me back terry. Good job guys, working hard.

I recently purchased a 2014 Journey. Make sure you take a mechanic with you if youre thinking of buying a car here .. not sure what there inspections actually consist of and make sure you look for paint TOUCH UPS !!!!! I bought my car 3 weeks ago ... it has a transmissions leak, oil pan leak, ( BTW ... THEY SOLD IT TO ME NEEDING AN OIL CHANGE ! ) both mufflers leak, one has a hole in it the size of a quarter ( they must have missed that during there inspection LOL ) all the paint touch ups that they did to make the car look better have come off and now its down to the metal ... has a vibration in the front (which they are willing to take care of for me because it was part of the original deal) and of course the normal wear and tear .. i need new brakes and shocks!Make sure you look it over real good, because they DO NOT ! Thanks Thelan for all the headaches !!! Oh .. on a good note my salesman was nice.

Thelen Auto Group,Please stop calling me about service appointment on the Subaru that I paid you to put a replacement motor in, only to have it die 6 months later. We sent it in the end of January to be fixed and picked it up in mid-april. Then the car died mid October. I called and explained the situation to James and told him how the car was broke down in the U.P at my sons college and that it would take me some time to get up there and bring it back. I was finally able to tow it home from the U.P. the end of January. Your guys took a look at it and told me it needed a new motor, again. It leads me to believe that the engine you installed was junk, and that the mechanics that worked on it forgot some of the fundamental training when dealing with used motors.I had already given you $6500 to put that motor in, and you should have took ownership of that problem and replaced the engine for us. Basically you cost me a little over $1000 a month to drive that car. James, your service advisor, talked me out of a new motor and told me that the used one had the same warranty. That the motor would be gone through prior to installation and issues addressed. The issues that were brought to my attention I paid you without hesitation to fix. Only to be told after it jumped time, and because its an interference engine that it was dead and when questioned I was told that your service department never did a timing belt on the used motor despite having all the brand new timing parts on the old motor, and you never put a new thermostat in a used engine that had sat for god-knows-how-long. And I am still getting service reminders on a car that you know no longer runs. Its funny, the car ran when it originally came to you both times. The first time it was overheating, Ill give you that, but the motor ran beautifully. The second time it ran, but not good, and was noisy. So I was quite surprised when you told me it needed a complete engine. I guess red flag should have went up at that point in time. I could have bought a new Jasper Motor with a 3 year, Unlimited mileage warranty for half the price I was charged. If I hadnt been living in Connecticut and my son with the car here I surely would have. Still so disappointed that you wont do the right thing and fix the problem your service department created. The only offer I even had was for Thelen to sell me a new car. With what I now know, I wouldnt buy from them as they dont stand behind the services they provide. We have the receipts, we paid $6500 for the engine from Thelen. Your service technicians, not mechanics, did shotty work at best, overlooking all the elements that are supposed to be replaced when a used motor is re-installed. Money wasnt a hurdle for us as I pressed for a new motor and James from service told us because it was being installed at Subaru dealer it would have the Subaru warranty. We were taken advantage of because at the time we lived in Connecticut and had no intention of moving back to Michigan. We did in fact move back to help my kids, and unfortunately Thelen Auto group failed us in every way. And then they werent man enough to step up and do the right thing. We are consulting lawyers now as they still havent tried to help in any way, even after we bought a $30,000 vehicle from them over the summer. My son had to stay home from college the last semester because he didnt have transportation and this whole process has taken way too long. The plain and simple of this is because nothing was checked on the used engine prior to install, that your service department installed the motor jumped time in less than 6 months of very minimal useage, and no longer runs. To re-cap we paid $6500 for a replacement engine with a warranty according to your service advisor James from Subaru, we had to pay to transport the car back from Michigan Tech in the U.P. after it broke down, after you out the engine in, my son lost his college job, missed a semester of college because of transportation difficulty. Anger, stress and frustration. Your new Slogan

Would give zero stars if I could. My car has been there for 3 weeks and still not fixed. Lots of excuses but still no vehicle. Communication is terrible!!!! There remedy upon complaint is for me to take it somewhere else. I would think a Jeep dealer should be able to fix their own vehicles.
