After seeing the many other reviews about how they will do anything to keep your security deposit, I was not surprised that they are trying to withhold mine for a cleaning fee with no explanation. After the hours I spent cleaning the apartment and returning to a condition better than when I moved in this is simply unacceptable. They also waited until the last possible day to return my deposit. I will be awaiting a call from them, and am happy to revise this review if they would like to come good for this.

No one answers the phone, only electronic services, no human contact. Poor website and tele navigation.Im not in your data base because you didnt answer! Your replys to these comments are ridiculous. Also, your phone line doesnt even let us pick a choice. Pressing 1-3 does nothing!

We just got into rent to own which is everything we’ve been looking for, for years now! The manager (I think he’s the manager) anyway he is great!!! Responded to me so fast no matter how small the question even on weekends reassured me of any concerns I had! The application approval took little bit but that’s literally the only “issue” not even an issue at all I’m just impatient they are great I would recommend all day to anyone!!!

Their website barely works, you can only apply for one property at a time, it somehow takes 3 days to get an application processed, but at least someone barely picks up the phone. i thought this was a place youd go to avoid looking for rental properties scattered around the state. i hope their business model and practices stay the same, so better companies can provide a better service. i at least got to see 3 properties this company manages about a week apart. they get one star for that :/

How about mowing the lawn? Rent went up and Maintenance definitely never got any better.. I washed our unit the other 3 are all mildew and black. There was an older couple that moved out due to lack of maintenance. They actually moved 1/4 mile up the road to a better facility. Are we suppose to put in maintenance request for having the lawn mowed or something? Right now it is 8-10 tall and I believe either us or another tenant had to call last time to have it mowed and weve all had to call about plowing. But luckily most of us here have 4wd.Edit for response : we do appreciate you allowing us to park it here if we needed to thankfully we never had to.

I actually really enjoyed renting from MREM. It was easy to pay bills and they were responsive to issues. When I moved in, my toilet flushed very slowly and eventually stopped flushing at all. They had a plumber come in the next day to fix it, and when it still didnt work, they replaced my toilet altogether within a few days. They even let me paint when I moved in. The rent was a little high but I suppose thats to be expected for a college town. Overall Id recommend renting from them.

Good luck getting a response from them. They’ll have you visit an apartment, fill out an app, (for $25) tell you to reply to the confirmation email, and then leave you hanging after multiple replies just to send you an email a day later saying the apartment is off the market lmao great company! 👍 If you aren’t interested in renting to somebody, let them know so they aren’t wasting time. Easy 1 star.

Its bad enough searching for a rental right now that its really abysmal when half of the rentals listed are actually rent to own properties owned by this company. Stop listing rent to own properties under rent instead of buy. This is ridiculous.

This company is slumlords. They do not keep up with there propertys and will steal your deposit and ignore all attempts from you to get it returned or provide an itemized receipt do not rent for them or choice them as the real-estate company to handle your properties unless your a fan of the court room. There are much much better real estate companies out there. Do not rent or list your property with this company!! They are untrustworthy and should not be allowed to be in buisness! They are slumlords on every level. Do not trust them or settle for them. They will screw you over and not think twice about it and they do not keep up with there property’s. Ive had terrible experiences working with this company. The information they post is misleading, their managment is terrible, and the apartments they sell are overpriced. The first apartment I toured was listed as a 1 bedroom (over 1k per month, at that); as I toured it, the guide couldnt find the bedroom, and asked the current tenants where it was, they explained that Maine Real Estate considers the tiny, narrow, entryway to be a bedroom because its sectioned off from the other area, and has a small window at the top of a staircase. They then closed on that apartment 30 minutes after I was there (before I would have even had time to get home and fill out the application).The next apartment I tried to tour they closed on 15 minutes BEFORE my scheduled tour.I also have several friends who have had the unfortunate experience of renting from this company, and theyve complained that they do things like: Send mechanics/electricians/etc to fix things while they arent home (and refuse to reschedule), ignore their phone calls/ emails whenever there are privacy or code issues that need to be addressed, and are very rarely available in-office for tenants to speak with.If you see that a property is owned by these clowns, do yourself a favor and keep looking elsewhere. There are plenty of honest landlords in this area, you dont have to settle for people that will treat you like youre nothing more than a check to them.

I have called multiple times and have left messages but have not received any callbacks. Ive been trying to reach them for a month. As a college student first time renting, very frustrated with the lack of response to calls or any request we have submitted. Do not recommend if you like to keep in touch for your rental management.

I cannot tell you how many things are wrong with the place i lived, the neighborhood was super sketchy and my neighbors were terrible! No one ever answered my phone calls or emails either. Im being asked to leave without any prior warnings. I would never live in a building they own unless you want your neighbors to get you kicked out cuz they think they can do that to someone they dont like but did nothing wrongEdit: they didnt give me any warnings which means they didnt even follow their OWN rules. Rent to own manufactured homes. Spent 45 bucks and never got a decision if you were approved. Asked for my money back and didnt get any response.Called people who would never call you back. Considered it as a loss. Not worth the time or aggravation fighting with this company.

Response time for maintenance or landscaping is virtually 0 our building has been falling apart since March of 2021 soon after this company bought it, we have reached out to resolve the issues but have received absolutely no help. It is starting to feel like slumlords have taken ownership of this building.

Absolute nightmare of a company to rent from. Better make sure things dont break, because itll be a cold day in Hell when Maine Real Estate Management can properly maintain a property! I wrote a long and detailed review but it felt far too long for google.Simply put, they they hand you the keys and throw your number away.They do not give you contact info for the actual building managers and leave you in the dark.They have turned their phones off for the pandemic, do not expect them to answer or return your calls.They patronize their tenants reviews instead of actually helping them when they needed it.They also rented to the Carrillo Family who beat their daughter to death.So you shouldnt have to worry about your background check so thats a plus, I guess.I would avoid them unless youre desperate, really.

Extremely rare to ever get somebody on the phone, left several messages on their “emergency” voicemail due to me being locked out (in the middle of winter) and never received a call back not even to ensure I was safely back inside or needed further assistance. Management is poor and answers to any questions extremely vague and short (if you can get anyone to answer the phone) oh! And I had the spare keys to my apartment given to me without any knowledge of who I was or any verification of identity! They just said “oh I trust you” So they will literally give you anyone’s keys if you ask nice enough!

Upon departing my apartment, my security deposit was mailed to me with a charge of $150 for a “good cleaning”. When I left the apartment, I did a thorough cleaning of the bathroom, swept out the whole apartment, and wiped down all surfaces, leaving the apartment cleaner than it was when I had moved in. It was a very small apartment and with the cleaning that I had done upon leaving, a charge of $150 was extremely unreasonable. I contacted them letting them know my feelings about the charge, assuming there wasn’t anything they would do about it, and got no response.Finding out any information from them at all is pretty difficult because you can rarely get someone on the phone to actually talk to, and they plow their parking lots pretty late (sometimes not the same day of a snowstorm), so getting to work is sometimes a hassle as well.Email communication works pretty well, unless it’s something that you’re upset about. Best of luck if you choose to rent from this company.

I do NOT recommend going through them. I get ignored a lot and they don’t do what the ads say. They try to charge more then what it says. I’ve looked at several places through them and they approve me for them but they are all falling apart and leaks in the ceilings etc. there was one I liked and they ignored me for two days then said we cannot approve you for this. None of there apartments are cleaned and they mostly all reek of cigarettes. Horrible management!

We have been renting here for 7 months. Our shower drain wasnt draining right and once they started they had to strip the entire bathroom. They did not offer us any accommodations and instead asked if we had a second bathroom, which they know we do not. Not even the toilet works, and they dont care.Edit: Finally the property manager for the building called me, and worked out accommodations for the duration of the work. Clearly there was a miscommunication because my girlfriend says she didnt say anything about having other accommodations. However 3 people have said she had so clearly there was a misunderstanding.

I rent through Maine Real Estate Management and theyre awesome! Literally emailed Robbie one night at 11pm because our heat went out and he replied within 10 minutes, thats awesome customer satisfaction! All my maintenance repair I needed in my apartment where completed within 24 hours. I love renting from this company.

I just wanted to say that I generally do not write reviews of anything but I feel that it is necessary. The beginning of the year me and my family were in a very bad situation living in a home that was extremely uninhabitable with no running water and no heat. We Looked around desperately trying to find a safe and warm place to be that we could call home. I called Maine real estate management and explained the situation to Jordan and that I had already been on their website looking at some of the rental properties that were available that we were interested in. He went above and beyond to make time the very next day for us to go look at them and within a few weeks we were able to get everything finalized and because of his kindness and compassion we have lived happily in our place. Anytime that we have had a question he always happily would answer it or other staff as well. I cannot thank him and Maine real estate management enough for giving us not only a safe beautiful place to live but giving us hope that things really do get better!

I dont usually leave reviews but after reading some of the negative ones, I felt it pertinent to let people know about the company from an actual renter, and not someone who has either been rejected or evicted. Very professional in all dealings that Ive had with them. Pay your rent on time and follow the rules and you wont have any issues with this company. Theres a reason why they manage most of the properties in the area. I think that speaks for itself.

The prices are reasonable, and paying rent is very easy online. If you want a hands off management company they will make you happy.Personally I find it very difficult to communicate with them. Do not bother calling.

Went to see an apartment I scheduled a viewing for and no one showed up.Called all their numbers and no one answered.My application was accepted for another place thankfully.They have no issue with 2 ESA cats and a baby hamster.Dont need a letter going into every little detail of my 5 severe mental illnesses either which is what this place wanted.Dont need pet insurance either.Was having issues with their site and they didnt even care.Edit: This was for 124 York St #6 on Monday.Tenant was finding someone to take over lease.It was also on your site that it was available.Waited 20 minutes for a no show.She never responded to knock on door or facebook message.Case manager called all your numbers with no answer.Left messages and got no call back.Have a place now.Not looking at your apartments anymore.Dont need a landlord that doesnt answer phones.

I saw that plowing improved a bit and you did radon tests but not even a thank you message to your tenants who have been able to pay rent to keep you afloat during this pandemic and poor communication. When we changed from Hughes everything felt right over our head.

I am planning on moving to the Bangor area next month and came across a wonderful apartment through their website. Darya was very responsive to my application inquiry and answered all my questions (which was a lot considering I am moving during a pandemic). They never made me feel rushed and approved me for the apartment within a few days. My circumstances changed and I did not end up moving into the rental, but they were very pleasant during the entire process! I would absolutely rent from this company if I needed to in the future.

So they are great over the phone honestly but they are closed due to covid 19 so give them a call if you want a place to stay or are just looking for a place to move to their hours are 9am to 4:30pm

I wasnt able to get a hold of anyone and kept getting redirected to a voicemail. After my second message I did get a call back and let them know I was frustrated as the apartment I was interested in rented. Rob explained the situation to me and how fast rentals go with their company. He then took the time to show me some rentals that hadnt been listed and I ended up finding one I liked even more. Very happy with how my experience turned out.

To expensive for a single family income. I was denied a rental due to it being more than a third of my income, and then the owner was unwilling to help me find a place. Told to keep watching the website.

Absolutely worst property management company I have ever had to deal with. They are very cold, dont answer phones calls. In an emergency they don’t return your phone calls. There is no maintenance of the property. If you should in the rare occasion get someone on the phone they are rude and act as if you are begging them for service when you are paying pretty substantial rent prices. They hardly plow and there are several units that have elderly who live alone.

EDIT: to the comment below by this company. Not once did I ever try to rent from you, and you had accepted my offer and the sold it from under me. My family had put an offer in on a home, it had been approved and we were told it was pending for us and not being viewed by anyone else upon turning on the electricity and making sure it worked. This was said twice between emails and a third time over a phone call. That night at 830 pm, the day before we were meant to do that and start the paperwork, they messaged us to inform us it was sold to someone else and that they might have something else available, I asked that I got to speak to the owner or manager and to send information, they said they would later that evening, since then they refuse to answer emails or calls from me. I have since gotten in touch with a real estate agent so I never have to go through the heart ache of telling our 7 year old that the home we had already planned out decorating we wouldn’t be getting due to a shady “mix up.” We heard from 2 separate people that they hear HORROR stories about this company. To then look up reviews on each site and only see more horror stories. You as a company should be ashamed. Instead of giving people great homes, you are ruining the excitement for first time home buyers and as it looks on here first time renters as well. Thank you for the countless nights crying, please if you’re reading this, rent something else, but something else. It’s worth the extra money. I have NEVER taken the time to write a review before this. I will continue to share my story. If there was a star below one, I would select it..

Not one to leave reviews but I definitely need to after this last week. I rented from MREM in 2013-2014. I didnt pay my rent and I was evicted. YEARS LATER, this pops on my credit while Im trying to buy a house. Once I found out, I paid the debt. Rob at MREM has worked with me for 7 straight days to help me. He returned my calls quickly, called and emailed my lender, he called the courts to try and help get the eviction removed.MREM has gone ABOVE AND BEYOND for someone they dont even know and once did their business wrong. I am beyond grateful.

Staff is super friendly and professional but one thing to keep in mind is that this is a real estate management company, they do not outright own the locations they are managing. Most of their listings are over priced or simply run down. With that being said, this is not a reflection of MREM, but a reflection of the buildings actual owner. Maine has a state wide problem of lacking affordable housing, so please do not direct your frustrations towards MREM. They work with what is brought to them.

Have called their office 4 times in the past week about viewing two properties. Left messages every time and havent heard back, additionally tried to request a tour online through apartments.comAnd never heard anything. Not sure with the COVID-19 if they have had to cut down on employees to answer the phone or what but shouldnt advertise as open if you cant pick up the phone. People need places to live rn and this company owns almost all the properties available for rent in the Bangor area so not sure why its been so difficult getting in touch. Hopefully someone reads this cause Id still love to check out the places.

I moved out on June 30th. It is now August 4th with no security deposit mailed to my forwarding address. This is the worst Rental company in the World. I have had nothing but issues. Staff is very unprofessional and doesn’t return messages or calls. Extremely difficult to work with when it comes to anything. State of Maine says landlords have 30 days to return security deposit with itemized charges. I’ve tried to contact them about this but they refuse to get back to me so it looks like I will now have to bring them to court. Not to mention when I lived their they towed my truck That was ON THE LEASE and It was $85. I was charged $50 for apparently leaving trash next to the dumpster , however it was constantly FULL and everyone left their trash next to the dumpster. But the one time I did it because it was over flowing , I was charged. I don’t want to hear anything MREM has to say in their reply to me , as they are just going to make it seem like they are never in the wrong. The only people they are professional with are the building owners that they manage for. They don’t treat tenants with the same respect , especially if you’re two young adults from a different state . I highly recommend finding anyone but MREM for your renting needs.

Well i was looking for a place for my son to rent. I thought of a managemnet company that I could trust, but from what I am reading, not so sure now. Its not the customers comments that concern me, because I know how beligerent people can sound when they are angry. Its actually the responses that I am seeing from the owners of this company that concern me. I think it is great when owners take the time to reepond but from what I am seeing the owner is sitting there with each file and pereonally bashing back at complaints. There is nothing uniformed about the answers. I understand being a landlord can be stressful, but to bring out personal information in public comments is wrong, very unprofessional. Hint for the company it takes more to being a good landlord than just collecting rent. This means respond to tenants, if you want timely rent you have to fix issues, big or small. Business hours or not.

We were just thrown keys at us and never told where the parking was, what all the keys were for/what they went to, we weren’t even told where the laundry was. It seems as if there have been many different tenants move in above as, as if nobody wants to stay here. They towed our car because we didn’t know it was in the wrong spot , as they never explained it and all the parking signs are missing/knocked over. $85 charge when they could’ve just called and asked me to move the truck. Then we get charged $50 for supposedly “leaving trash next to the dumpster “ however there’s constantly people doing this as the trash is always FULL, considering it’s shared with a church AND restaurant! Now , we are trying to move and they refuse to answer my calls and voicemails, and have asked me to stop messaging them on Facebook. They took over 3 weeks to send a reference sheet over to a new apartment place, and once they did they claimed we were behind on rent, even though rent was due that day so I hadn’t gotten a chance to pay it. All I wanted was to speak to someone on the phone and they refuse. I have paid $900 a month here for a year now. I rarely have called for maintenance issues , but yet they’re going to tell me to stop messaging them ? I have a right to speak to my landlord as I pay you $900 every month. I would never rent from Maine real estate management again. Many people have told me they have had issues with this company also. I should have read the reviews before I moved into this apartment with awful management.

Over the last 15 years, my job has moved my wife and I literally around this beautiful country. I can say without hesitation that our experience with Rob and Tim at Maine Real Estate Management was second to none. We needed a short term rental (7 months) and they were able to find a property in the downtown area that was more than suitable for our needs. They were very prompt getting minor repairs done prior to move in and also during our stay. They never left us out hanging to dry. Their response time and attention to detail was always in our best interest and to serve our needs. They always made it comfortable to just pick up the phone and call when an issue surfaced. I think they are very nice people and very informative and they are there if you have any questions or issues with repairs definitely have had a good experience with them thank you for letting me be a tenant of yours

I called about a listing that was available, they said to pay the application fee and apply and they’d get back to me the following day. They got back to me two days later and told me that the place had been rented before I even applied. Then they told me there was another listing similar that they would get me information on. I emailed several times and continued to get the runaround. So then I called in on three separate occasions and never got a response and decided to rent elsewhere. Highly disappointed with my experience through them.

Probably the best management company in the area. Have rented from several and they are by far the most profes and quickest at getting back to you.

Will take your money for a application even though the unit is gone that’s why you have to type in what unit you’re looking for. It’s a common occurrence and every review. They also will never return your calls unless you haven’t filled out an application and they can get money out of you 100% scam. Sent so many emails and left many messages for a call back (because they don’t have a direct line to a person all voice mail boxes) to check my application to no response just a scam don’t fill out anything just keep looking.

More than satisfied. Have had no issues and great communication with all of my rentals.

After using another Property Management company that turned out to be dishonest, I was lucky to get MREM. They have been great around the whole process, but most of all, I appreciate his responsiveness with any questions or concerns I have with my rental properties in Bangor.

Caveat emptor!!!On 01/16/20 Called about a RTO Property they have was told I needed to fill out an application and someone would get back to me the next day. It is now 01/23/20 and I have yet to hear back from anyone despite having reached out to this company multiple times leaving several messages, emails and showing up in person attempting to schedule a showing before deciding to write a check for their term price of $21,600 or just pay them the $765/month they are asking and use the difference for renovations. The desk staff have been unhelpful, condescending, rude rolling their eyes when asked about meeting with someone. This company clearly does not seem to be either in a hurry to sell or want my money. This experience has seriously making me re-consider if I would like to do business with or recommend this company in the future as im left to think If there taking this long to get back to me, how long is it going to take to close on the property. Makes me feel bad for their tenants.Update 01/23/2020Was contacted by one of the owners who apologized for no one getting back to me and explained that there was a emergency at a property of theirs in Portland Maine and advised me that the units I was interested in had already since been rented. However, he had one becoming available soon and should be ready next week. We scheduled a showing @ 1pm on Saturday February 1st.Update 02/01/20220Arrived at the unit at 12:45 and waited until 1315, much to my surprise no one showed up, additionally called the office to learn that they are not open and wont be until Monday. This has solidified my earlier belief that this company is unprofessional, rude, nearly impossible to work with from a tenant prospective. I gave them a fair chance and took the afternoon off from my job to go see the unit, costing me money. I have since decided to buy/rent my property elsewhere and I will not be recommending this company to family, friends, co-workers.Highly recommend you stay away and avoid this headache of a company. I would give it 0 stars if google would allow.

Having rented from this company for about a year and a half, we had our first beautiful old apartment on Broadway and then downsized to a quaint little spot on Chapin park, both a very pleasant experience. Any issues at all were addressed quickly, and sufficiently and we were well care for. Nice neighbors, walking and biking distance to most of town. Would certainly work with Robbie again, always so polite and accommodating, Thank you!

I would highly recommend Maine Real Estate Management. The staff has been exceptionally friendly, helpful, and responsive. I had a non-urgent question recently so I sent them an email and received an automatic out of the office reply. I figured I would receive an actual response the next day but I had an answer from them in my email a few minutes later.

I am SO impressed with Rob & the whole crew at Maine Real Estate Management. Their responsiveness to my needs & those of my tenants has been super impressive & extremely professional. LOTS of places to choose from. Saw several places with their rental agent. Very nice to talk to. Still not ready to rent but will go back to them when I am.

Robbie is a wonderful human being. Life happens and when I had to communicate with him regarding issues on the property, he was helpful and quick. Most of all, he didn’t treat me like just any other renter and that makes him stand out as a professional. Thank you!

Good company to rent from, in my experience. Open to answering any questions, and quick to respond to maintenance issues. For example, when I first moved in, the fire alarm would go off whenever I boiled water (I was in a small studio, so it steamed up easily). They replaced the fire alarm the day after I called. Unfortunately, this new one was the same type of sensor, so it still went off. So, I called again, suggesting maybe it was the type of fire alarm. They sent someone out that day, replaced the fire alarm with a different type of fire alarm, and presto! Never went off again. The only complaint I have is that they never answer the phone directly (even calling during business hours). That can get a little frustrating. But, they always called back within the day, so Id rent from them again. (Review written in Aug, 2017)

Stay away! This joke of a company will find out what a powerful force karma can be.

I really needed an office space to do business in and the last space I was gonna use fell through. Robbie Brydon got right back to me about an office space MREM had available. We got together in the next few days and then sealed the deal that day. Very easy to work with and would definitely consider sticking with renting an office with them for as long Im in need of one.

The land lords do not stalk or harass me like many places would do (for reasons like having extra people over, making sure the place is clean, or just to spy). They have been very good to me, and the only people Ive seen evicted have been people that deserved it. The apartments are reasonably priced, although they seem to be D-C grade dwellings. They accept vouchers, and are quite helpful. The receptionist I find rude sometimes, but its a very good company that is workable with.The people that post negative things here are likely people who were doing negative things in the apartment or with it, or just plain unreasonable people.

The best property management team in the area. Hands down
