Reviews like this are more valuable after living with the product for a while, and I can say that the custom screen door Josh made is much better quality than others much more expensive. We’ve had dogs and toddlers test its limits and it is as good and sturdy as the day we bought it. I would highly recommend the product and Josh’s workmanship & communication.

A success story with solar screens... We are seeing tangible electric savings in the hot summer months. Below is a screen shot from our PEC usage analyzer. You can see that we have dramatic usage drops in June, July and August of this year. This is with no other conservation methods or usage pattern changes. For the past couple years I had been wanting to get solar screens to help combat the heat on our west facing house. I now wish I had gotten it done sooner as Josh Hobbs solar screens were super easy and a pleasure to work with. Hands down the best experience we ever had with a contractor. We could not have asked for a better screen company or better product. Mr Hobbs and his helper were so professional, so courteous and such hard workers.The finished product was flawless (see photos), they even went around the home with small paint brushes and touch up painted the screen framing. They told us that the framing gets scratched during transit, so to make them look perfect, they touch-up paint the framing after the screens are installed. I couldn’t believe their attention to detail. They were so impressive.We looked into three other screen companies and while Mr Hobbs did not have the lowest price, he made up for it in value. I learned a long time ago that cheaper does not mean a good value. One of the people from a screen company that came over smelled like alcohol, it was quite appalling. We visited with one company that works with glass and screens, and because we told them that we spoke with Mr Hobbs, he told us that he knew what Mr Hobbs’s pricing was because Mr Hobbs publishes his pricing on his website, and they aggressively insisted that they could beat his pricing. We were SO turned off. However we weren’t with Mr Hobbs being as open and upfront as he was, we appreciated his direct and honest, to the point, way of conducting business. We felt like with us, that he was open, honest and transparent.A tip I learned from a staff member here at the district is to search the web using the name of the owner of the company. After all, you don’t just want anyone showing up at your house, -right? Get the name of the owner of the business you are looking at and search the internet using their name. We did, and for one of the screen companies we were vetting, we were glad that we did as we found that he has a criminal record. A tip I figured out on my own, is that you can also use Facebook to see what kind of people they are, who their friends are, insight into their private life gains you access to whom they are like in business. This may be a bit much for most people I assume, but for us, this was a big purchase and we wanted to do our due diligence. And, we couldn’t be happier that we did.The whole process was seamless for us, Mr Hobbs and his wife made it so easy and they were so thorough and meticulous with everything. He took our calls and answered our messages promptly even though we knew that he was out in the heat working, he still would take our calls when we had questions. We had never had these shade type screens before, so we had quite a few questions. His wife Paula was as kind and sweet as one could imagine, she even spoke to me one time with her kids playing in the background. We love a family business, it was quite refreshing. I love my solar screen, they cut out so much of the heat. Its amazing how well they work. The installation was very fast even for all the windows i have on my house. I appreciate the great service and will definitely be referring others to Josh and Paula Solar screens. The only knock i would say is i wish the communication was a little better, but with that being said its summer time and they are really busy so completely understand.

I was very pleased with my experience with Josh Hobbs solar screens.They were extremely easy & convenient to work with: I never actually met anyone in person! I arranged a quote by email, they measured the whole house while I was at work & left color swatches & suggestions. We picked our options, scheduled them (again by email), they installed all the screens (again while I was at work), & paid online. Everyone has a busy schedule & it was so great to be able to get the whole project done without having to run home to meet a contractor.I felt like the cost was fair & the quality of work was great: the screens blend in with the house & look like they were part of the original construction.Id also note that I separately had some HVAC experts come out to do repair work on my AC. They both agreed that the screens were high quality & a must-have in our climate.I really couldnt be happier!

Fast, focused and fabulous! It couldnt have been any easier. I used the online tool to estimate the project, decided I wanted to go with it, paid the deposit and then had measuring and an install date the next day. I was home the day he came to install, but I didnt need to be. They installed the screens securely and smoothly. They look like they were there when the house was built. Once I got the approval, Josh came by to measured my windows and storm door, no need to be home. I ordered solar screens from Josh Hobbs when I lived in Round Rock. They came out and measured and installed the screens. The prices were much more reasonable than any other vendor I researched. The screens worked great and helped reduce my utility bills. I was so pleased that I decided to order them for my new home in Leander. This time, we decided to install them ourselves. We measured and ordered online - so easy with the helpful videos. When the screens were ready, Josh offered to deliver the screens because they were so huge and he didn’t want them to get damaged during transportation. Wonderful people to work with. Josh not only did a great job, did what he said he was going to do when he said he was going to do it. I think it was a great value for what they instal. Product is very durable, I have two big dogs and they cant seem to tear the screen even though I think they are trying. Josh takes good care of his clients. Highly recommended.

He listened carefully, visited my home to see the situation, took measurements, and tailored a screen plan specific to the needs of my home, Along the way, he gave me links to videos that described exactly how he built and installed his screens, which was very helpful to my understanding and helped me to make good decisions. And, he was very patient and pleasant with me throughout the process. He even got me a good person to clean my windows before screen installation. I could not be more satisfied with Josh Hobbs finished product. Josh put in well-made, perfectly installed, and beautiful screens specifically tailored to my windows so the fit and quality are excellent. It is such an improvement over what I had before, and I am completely satisfied with the finished result. His price was more than reasonable (I actually told him he should be charging more than he did due to the quality of his work). I highly recommend his services.

Josh Hobbs makes solar screen installation such a breeze and DEFINITELY worth the money. He is prompt and punctual, coming to the house to measure soon after the initial call,and then very quick with cutting the screens (and showing all the options for color and thickness of the screen) and installing the product, all of which can be done when you arent even home. Our electric bill has gone down considerably ever since the solar screens were installed. We love them so much that now we are adding extra solar screens to other rooms. Best investment we have made since purchasing the house!

Josh Hobbs does nothing but quality work!!! I had the screens installed in 2012 and after almost 5 years they still looked great! The material stayed steched tight across the frames and did did not flap in the wind like some of the cheap ones.
