Ive studied and practiced martial arts, combative science and the like for most of my life. Studied under different teachers from all over the United States. What I can tell you with absolute certainty is, the instruction and attention to a respective students learning and development in which ever avenue the student chooses to go is with out a doubt some of the best in the country. Thats no joke. They offer a wide variety of arts/disciplines to choose from. Everything from jujitsu to boxing. There is quite literally something for everyone no matter the skill level or experience. Believe me when I tell you this a rare thing in world of martial instruction. I think one of the biggest attribute is how much care and attention to detail has been put into the dojo itself and the instruction given. The floor in this school for the throwing and ground disciplines is amazing to name one. The instruction provided is adaptive yo the student being taught. A lot of martial arts schools teach everyone the same and you cant because not everyone learns the same or at the same rate, the coaches and teachers at Martial Arts of Austin understand this which makes for a fun and enjoyable experience with a ton of comraderie amongst the students. Overall this is by far one of the best all around schools to be a part of. If you are looking to get in shape, compete, or learn self defense. You have found your school and you will have made and incredible choice.

I found this place out of sheer luck. Im so thankful that I did. My kids LOVE it here. Theyre learning so many amazing things, including respect and self control. The classes are not huge, so he spends a lot of 1on 1 time with each child, perfecting their techniques and moves. We found our forever dojo.**** UPDATED ****Made the mistake signing my kids up for a year at this place, because that is the only way to make the prices actually doable.**** NOT WORTH MY MONEY OR TIME ****Things were good at first, Charles is VERY friendly to get you in, and get you to sign the year long contract ( Which IS RIDICULOUS ). It was nice that he worked his prices a bit to get it into my budget. He did offer a few times to give my kids private lessons, but I was not interested by the time he asked me.My kids werent learning anything. A lot of the time there, is spent listening to him talk.I asked at least 3 times for a copy of my contract, but conveniently his printer didnt work, so to this day I havent received one.He pressured me to let my 15 year old daughter stay for the adult class, I had to take my younger one home to do homework etc. He said one of the other females had been asking to have her there to train with in the adult class, and she had offered to take my daughter home. Well she didnt get home until far after 10PM, I didnt get a call to let me know they were running late. I couldnt get anyone to answer my calls. I was freaking out and about to drive back up there myself when my daughter finally called me. The online schedule shows the class ending HOURS before she got home. I couldnt get him to understand why this would upset me so terribly. He just doesnt understand that my child has no business out that late by herself or with a bunch of adults she doesnt know.I was charged two times in November 2016, less than 13 days apart. I am still unsure whether this means my contract ends in October or November, since he refused to give me a copy of my contract. He told me at least 2 times that if I dont wish to renew my contract, I can just text him 30 days in advance. But when I did that, ( since my children havent been attending in at least 2-3 months ) he told me that he doesnt handle that. I would have to contact this entirely different company. I sent a certified letter to him, stating that I DEFINITELY would not be renewing my contract. That he better not charge me for any extra months. He was short and rude about it. Funny how people change when they are contracted to receive your money.

Im so happy to get to write this review. Ive been wanting to write this for years now. But since weve all had a few months off (due to covid), Im finally catching up with everything in life that Ive been behind on.My family and I have been students here for several years now. But since my husband has changed occupations, we havent had as much time to devote to it the past 6 months as we would like to. But I recently got to stop back in to say hi and I was so happy to see the instructors and the peaceful and serene environment that my family has come to know and love for all these years now.So originally, my husband was the original student in our family to begin practicing. And then when we saw how much his own life was improving due to training, we decided to enroll my two children in classes as well. Initially, my daughter wanted to practice and my son, not so much. But even he was super excited to participate with the fun when he realized hed get to compete with his sister. So, of course, I naturally had to give it a shot myself. And its absolutely true -- the family that kicks together, sticks together. We were already a family with a strong bond. But after being members for the past several years, weve grown even closer than we ever knew we could. My children have many fond memories of training here when they were younger. And now in high school, they are closer than my husband and I thought two kids could be. They do everything together and always remind us of where they gained this insight. The facility is the cleanest business Ive ever stepped foot in. All of the instructors are so professional, kind and patient. Sometimes they even have some nice candles on in the restroom and lounge area which makes it just that much more of an ambient environment. The coaches...each and every one is a master of their craft and I especially like how they take such great time working with beginners. And my husband and I love how not only is the training the lowest cost in Austin, but they make everything so simple for us too. I can get ahold of anyone in minutes via text or phone. I can schedule privates very easily. And when we thought we were going to have to cancel due to getting ready to move, it was just one phone call. Thankfully, we didnt have to cancel but only freeze our membership for a few months. And even that was made effortlessly. I love how we can practice in multiple martial art styles and still only pay one price for the whole family. And the coffee shop/lounge make it about as easy on a parent as it can be. I can sit in there, pull out my computer and get plenty of work done while the children train. Ask about their specials too because they run some amazing deals from time to time that are even lower than the already low prices. You can pay via cash, credit or check and now theyre even accepting venmo and cashapp as well. And if you have difficulties arriving on time or need to leave early due to work and family, the coaches are completely understanding and dont run things militantly at all. I think that was one of our big concerns since sometimes we had to jet out to get dinner going and get the kids to bed. We just know youre going to love it here as much as our family did and cant wait to meet you too.

Ive been a member of the dojo for 10 years now and have loved absolutely every moment of it. I cant speak highly enough about Sensei, Coach Shawn, Coach Cook and Senpai Melinda. Every single one of them is a master of their craft. The cost of tuition here is the lowest Ive seen in Austin yet the quality of training is the highest Ive seen in the entire state of Texas. We practice Boxing, Kickboxing, Wrestling, Judo, Jiujitsu, Aikijujutsu, Knife/Stick fighting, Self-defense and Yoga. The dojo, as a training facility, is THE best! We have a comfortable snack bar, a large heavily padded workout area, a shower room, plenty of boxing/kickboxing gear, dumbbells, jump ropes...everything.Make no mistake about it, there are tons of schools here in Austin. But Id strongly recommend doing as I did and look around. Youll find, as I did, that the range of quality is incredibly wide and varied. For me, I wanted to train with a head instructor that had the large amount of combative education that Sensei and Coach Shawn have. Theres absolutely NO ONE in Austin (or probably anywhere for that matter) that has their amount of knowledge. Sensei has been teaching for 25 years now (as of this post) and Coach Shawn for nearing 20 years. Whether its striking, throwing, grappling or weaponry, these 2 rrrrrreally know their stuff. As I said, Ive been here for nearing a decade. And I just now feel like Im scratching the surface with the amount I can learn here. Also, Ive read through a zillion reviews of the dojo. And Ive noticed that 95% are, like myself, extremely impressed and happy here. But at any school, (ours included), people from other businesses will troll our page seeking to give low ratings when theyve never even walked in the doors. We are proud members of an affiliate association that requires extremely high standards. So be extra cautious when you see 1-star reviews. Just a fair warning. Its usually someone upset that they couldnt get a black belt in 2 years...or that the coaches wouldnt let them act out of protocol and not follow etiquette. A number of reasons exist on both sides of the coin. But Im proud to see many long time students of 2 years to 2 decades and still rolling strong.I, myself, have autism and it has not stopped me one bit. Anyone of any level of ability from beginner to advanced are welcomed by the dojo family. Thank you for reading my review. Hope to meet you soon.

My wife and I go to classes here, I prefer the kickboxing class and the instructor Shawn is very informative and takes his time to make sure that you learn the technique properly so you diont harm yourself or anyone else. They make it fun, they make you feel like youre part of the family, everyone is there to help you get better no one wants bad for you. my wife likes to go to the jujitsu classes, Charlie the sensei, he is very knowledgeable on just about all aspects of what they teach there. He makes you feel like family as well as taking his time to make sure you understand how to properly do the moves. They work with you as much as they can on prices, but in reality the amount you pay is for the quality of what you learn.

I have trained in martial arts for fourteen years now. A few months after moving to Austin, I was beyond lucky to find this dojo. This March marked a year of me being a student here. I’ve visited dozens of dojos, and believe me, this is not your regular commercial martial arts school. The staff actually cares about their students. All coaches are extremely patient, and each one of them knows their craft amazingly well. If you want to learn how to actually fight, this is the place to go to! Plus, the installations are cleaned every single day, which is super important to me.

Be wary, This place is a scam. Sensei Charles isnt even his real name. And actually has a few hell use to keep himself harder to track and find info on. He is well known to the real martial arts community around here as a con artist and embarrassment. Even going so far as to pretend to be a girl named Shelley he claims is a black belt he trained. He will throw around terminology like alliance affiliated and combative science but a quick check in the right channels will show he is not alliance affiliated and he usually will not take anyone but people who are new to training in order to avoid confrontation from real professionals about these things.Charles has a nice front but will manipulate and make excuses over long periods of time to take advantage of people as well. Sure, hell work on you with price and accommodate you and tell you how well your kid may be excelling and how he wants them in the adult class (to disappear for multiple hours with no call or information) But dont sign up with a card otherwise the billing company he has no authority over will continue to bill you indefinitely until you block them from your bank account. He will be your friend until theres a threat to his payments. Then he no longer cares because if youve signed a contract(which youll never see thanks to a conveniently broken printer thats been busted for YEARS) he will still receive the money and the billing company will never stop collecting. He will push to have you leave a 5 star review (and offer discounts off your bill too) in order to cover these tracks and make this business seem more legitimate. Many of these reviews are by newer students (less than a year) who dont understand the value of what theyre getting, or are badgered over the course of multiple classes to leave one and finally do then leave shortly after and never remove it.Many of the classes are him talking with little training. Many times the classes dont start or end on time and wont respect your schedule, and when you need to leave on time you may often be guilt tripped to stay - even though youre an hour passed the posted end of class? This is more of a cult, not a healthy place for children or people looking to take their training seriously. I also really not a fan of walking into a self-proclaimed family friendly gym/dojo and being greeted by the choking smell of marijuana. I encourage you to take the positive reviews on this business with a grain of salt, and heavily inspect the negative reviews. Your money and time are best spent on a legitimate business, from a legitimate source.

Ive been here almost a year now and Ive learned a lot in the different classes I take. I went from zero skills in kickboxing and jiu-jitsu to being able to perform things I could not have almost 2 years ago when I separated my shoulder permanently from my clavicle. The regulars in the classes have all been welcoming and helpful. Sensei Charlie loves his craft and he wants to share his knowledge. Coach Shawn packs so much into an hour of kickboxing you always leave tired. Ive seen comments about the billing but I cant say that in 9 months Ive had an issue. If you are on the fence about making a financial commitment to your fitness there is a month to month option and you should definitely go that route.

I have only been coming here for a few months, but I am glad I found this place! All of the coaches at the atx dojo are super helpful, patient and incredibly skilled. Coming in with no experience at all, I have been really well taken care of. I have learned a ton in such a short time! We go over so many different styles and techniques. And the owners of the dojo worked with me to figure out a payment schedule that was best for me.Learning martial arts is really hard. But with a community of talented people to train with, the time and effort is well worth it. Especially when you stay for weekly meditation on Wednesdays. You get the best of both worlds- peace, clarity, focus and discipline.Sensei teaches more than just how to fight. You learn to respect the origin of the arts and about the laws of the universe.❤️🧡💛💚💙

I absolutely love, love, love this dojo. My 1st visit was 6 months ago. I have been through several life changing traumas that left me absolutely terrified to walk out my own front door. My first class was 2 hours long, of which it took me an hour and a half to just get on the mat to take a closer look. I literally was holding on to a post quacking with fear of even being touched by other people. The staff and other students were so patient with me and let me take things at my own pace. No one ever judged me and found them all to be very supportive and understanding. I honestly can not believe how much I have changed for the better by training here. I am more confident, less afraid, feel better physically, mentally, and emotionally. I weighed almost 300 lbs when I joined and have gone down 3 pant sizes and now weigh in at 265 lbs. I am stronger and have learned so much. I am looking forward to my first belt test in only less than 20 hours more in training. I have come so far, that I also help train the childrens class when I have the time. I have come to see everyone here as my dojo family. Training here is the most positive life changing decision I have ever made in my life. If you are looking for a safe, judgment free dojo to learn martial arts, I highly recommend Martial Arts of Austin.

Martial Arts of Austin is a sensational center of learning. The curriculum comprehensively covers all aspects of a conflict/fight from a real life standpoint. Additionally one can learn fitness, acrobatics, stretching, meditation, yoga, nutrition, philosophy, childhood development, as well as how to excel at competitive martial sports. I find the school to be welcoming to all levels of students from beginners to very advanced practitioners above the black belt level. The recently updated facility improves the experience. It includes an ample sized padded training floor, clean waiting area, nutrition counter, authentic weapons, safety equipment, and even a shower. This is all wrapped in a quaint aesthetic that really gets me in the mood to train and work my hardest. The curriculum is also tuned to all ages with both a dedicated children’s class and adult class. Youth find the philosophy, discipline, physical skills, and challenge that they need to experience that will make them successful adults. Adults find all the same in a mature setting while being exposed to techniques so good they will even serve you as a senior citizen. This great facility is headed by an exceptional head instructor. Sensei Charles really personifies the yin and yang. He has a truly scientific approach to his technique with an artistic spirit. His deep understanding of martial science allows him to convey technique in a perfected fashion upon first instruction. I have seen his students master potent techniques in a handful of sessions that would have taken them months (if ever) to learn from a less qualified teacher. I have even witnessed black belt level instructors attending his lessons have “ah-ha” moments and breakthroughs in their skills. Though athletic, sensei Charles is not physically imposing. His instructed technique works well even on massively larger opponents. This makes them usable by children and females as well as very large people. Due to Charles’s efficient lessons, his students possess very refined abilities that allow them to perform as well as martial arts students with great time investments.Ranking Martial Arts of Austin as 5/5 stars is very easy to do. I encourage you to visit the school and meet a great life opportunity. Be warned: the instruction, challenge, and satisfaction you find there is highly addicting.

Everyone here is a family and we all work with eachother to help eachother get better especially our Sensei Charlie who has been nothing but the best guiding each of us each step of the way, he takes the time to show you every technique from start to finish until you get it right. At the very least this place is worth a visit to watch what all that goes on here and what were taught at classes from Monday to Saturday so please dont be shy and sit in on any class and observe what could change your whole perspective on things. So if your schedule allows it please come and see what the Sensei, the senpeis and the students here could show you in one class.I came here originally because I had been in a handful of fights where I was lucky and was victorious. And the most recent street fight (Lets just was not my finest hour.) Someone had threatened my brother and went after him before I stepped in and ended it. I had no self control. So For a long time I was determined to get proper martial arts training and I looked around many gyms and schools until i found this place. It intrigued me very much and I saw the schedule and what i could learn and I felt calm.I knew this is where I would learn more than just styles of fighting but moves like body throws and joint locks (important lessons I needed to begin learning). More than that I saw I would learn lessons for life that Ive always needed and still need badly. And so Im doing everything i can to devote myself to spending all the extra time I have here where theres so much to learnWhat I found here is that the training and techniques give me a much greater chance at controlling the outcome of a physical altercation in the streets god forbid one ever presents Itself. Im new here still but Im learning so much about the importance of discipline, spiritual enlightenment, self discovery, and how to resolve a fight properly. And the philosophical lessons couldnt be argued as something thats simply a fallacyTheres 10 philosophical ideas called the Dojo Kun.I suggest that you come and read what they say and see if it relates to you the way that it did to me.SincerelyColton B. I have been a member of this dojo for 8 years now. I enjoy every aspect of it, from learning ju jitsu, wrestling, knife fighting, to even learning the Japanese language. Sensei has been not only been a coach and mentor in my life but someone I truly look up to. He has taught me many things on what it is to be a fine young man and what it means to be a true martial artist! If you ever are curious about what it is we do, get in touch with him. He will be more than happy to introduce you to the dojo family, teach you how to defend yourself, get in shape and all in all, have fun doing it!

Ive known Sensei for many, many years now and he is, without a doubt, the nicest person you could ever meet. He is extremely professional, always positive in spirit, is always helping the less fortunate (he is part of a charity group that helps the homeless every weekend), is incredibly humble and is an absolutely amazing father. As a martial artist, Sensei is well known for giving away free private lessons to anyone who is apprehensive about joining martial arts just so they can be comfortable first before joining. Ive yet to meet anyone else in the martial arts community to do this (especially in the jiujitsu community). And even then, he doesnt believe in pressure sales. So he shows students the prices and then offers incredible sign-up specials to stay the lowest price school in all of Austin. As a result of his high level of skill, ethics and courtesy, he has developed an amazing staff of instructors who all sincerely care about the students exactly the same way he does. I feel so at home every time I come to the dojo.I was part of another school years ago but I never felt like I was an actual part of the school...more of a number than a person. But that is definitely not how it is here at the dojo. Everyone makes you feel welcome and nobody pressures anyone in any way at all. Sensei and the Senpai are always very helpful and patient with anyone who needs assistance with the techniques they are learning.I love how rich in tradition the dojo is too. We have a full scale kamidana and the classes in Japanese language and history are truly wonderful. I leave here feeling like I just left a college class every time I train. Im strengthening both my mind and my body exactly as I always envisioned training at a real authentic martial arts school would be like.I also like how I can train in multiple disciplines such as boxing and kickboxing and then immediately practice jiujitsu as well and I never have to worry about paying more since I pay 1 low price and attend all the classes. The dojo is always super clean and tidy and the entire facility smells so nice since they light incense or candles daily. Everywhere else I visit, it either smelled like sweat or dirty. But they somehow always make it smell really nice here. That may sound silly to some but I truly value cleanliness in any business I visit. It shows me how much they value their business and customers alike.Between the large amount of material I learn daily to the terrific staff, to the well organized family environment, to the beautiful dojo, I just cant speak highly enough about Martial Arts of Austin. If youre truly serious about wanting to make some changes in your life and have a deep desire to learn martial arts, there really is no better school to attend. Many come for the low price but they stay for the outstanding programs and teachers. Call them up and youll see what Im talking about. Good luck on your journey and I hope to see you training with us soon.

With honor and respect, I forward this review to all those who are interested in an overview from someone who has been in actual combat. Sadly, I have had to take the lives of many during my time in the military. From this viewpoint, how this school occurs for me is something I wish to share. The variety of training and techniques available in this dojo, I find via many years of experience more balanced and thorough both in application and fundamental understanding of how this art can apply in a real life life and death situation. Training as a sport, in and of itself, has its own qualities and merits. However, in real life, situations where the combat is very real, unexpected, chaotic, traumatic, if one is not prepared in the core of his or her being to meet this element full on, then no amount of competitive training will prepare them for the ultimate experience of surviving trauma and/or death. Thus my viewpoint on how these arts are applied is from a different place where all the training plus impeccable focus is entirely necessary to protect oneself and loved ones. The application of this art for children in its basic premise can most definitely save them from great harm and even their lives. What it teaches them and what they learn here is well-rounded and fitting for their age group. Through the understanding of this art, the philosophy, the training, the honor and respect that they acquire for their teachers, themselves, their family and their environment as a whole is absolutely priceless in their development as young people. It carries on to many other aspects of life because of its discipline and focus thereof. What is taught here in its fundamental basis is reliance upon ones self. What is also taught is a level of honor rarely seen elsewhere. This DOES serve the child in which a framework to develop into their adulthood is established. This carries over to many aspects of growth as a child into a young adult that wouldve not been able to develop otherwise. The benchmark it sets will remain as a solid foundation for a positive outlook to being reality based. What occurs for both young and older adults can have a major impact on how their life progresses as well. The discernment they learn through their training will upgrade their position throughout their entire lives and how they choose to move forward henceforth. I have personally witnessed multiple combative disciplines via the martial arts and through my military background (specifically my hand-to-hand training during Vietnam) and what I have witnessed here serves the practitioner in real life. Body positions, forms and overall looking good doesnt win fights and keep people alive if ever attacked. What I have seen in this school is of the highest calibre, well-rounded and exceptionally adapted to REAL combat. I have listened to Sensei Charles explain the totality of the training and thus forming a solid basis of understanding of how it all works cohesively. His method of feedback is exceedingly positive and it helps everyone develop a better understanding of how to apply this training. I would say a teacher who allows their students to pose queries, communicate and discuss any and every qualm they may have allows for an outstanding environment in which all whom are present can progress and grow from. Sensei Charles does this absolutely perfectly. Anyone not 100% completely convinced of the efficacy here should make an appointment and come see for yourself. Thank you for your time and I hope to see you on the mats soon. Take care, God bless and good luck on your journey.

Almost a year ago, I was going through a really difficult time in my life and decided I needed to make some choices for myself. I had always wanted to learn martial arts but I was afraid to join a dojo since I had no previous experience. When I met and spoke with Sensei, I knew I had found the perfect place for me to begin my martial arts journey. Sensei is wonderful. He is a great instructor, a kind person and treats his students like family. He has been very patient with me and always knows when I need a little push because he knows that I could do better. Sensei Charlie wants his students to progress and succeed but that takes time and dedication from oneself. One of my favorite things about training here is that at the end of class we always have a discussion that ties life, virtue and martial arts together. This is a spiritual place, not just a place to learn how to kick butt. We learn so much more than that. Respect, Honor, Strength, Discipline and so on. I have been able to use what I learn from Sensei, whether it be martial arts itself or his wise words, to make myself a better person and a better student. Even at times when I know I could be laying in bed watching movies or playing video games, once I step into the dojo I know there is no place Id rather be. A few days ago, I received a belt promotion. I never imagined how good it would feel to know you are making progress and have physical evidence of it. Martial Arts of Austin will always be a second home for me and I recommend it to anyone and everyone. ♡ photo credit: @atxdojo

If you are wanting to try martial arts for the first time or you already practice martial arts and want to expand your knowledge, this dojo can help. The Sensei at this dojo is passionate about what he does and it shows in his teachings and in his students. He has extensive knowledge of many different styles. I promise if you take just one class, you will walk away impressed. And on top of the great training you will receive, the atmosphere of this place is wonderful. It is just what you would imagine a dojo to be like: comfortable, relaxed and inviting. You can even purchase a healthy smoothie on your way out to help replenish your body after a great workout! Because yes, you will be getting a workout while you train. Sounds like a win, win to me!

Strong workouts, great people, and a vast wealth of information from the Sensei. This dojo is certainly a rose amongst thorns being that it is family oriented and yet anyone seeking self improvement will find it here, regardless of persuasion or style.Sesei Charles is very kind and will push you to succeed. Moreover, he surely knows his material and is happy to impart such comprehensive knowledge to anyone who would hear it. If you are looking to change yourself into a stronger more technical fighter or even grow as a human this is the dojo for you!

Although Im only a college student, I have had many years experience training in martial arts. As a child, I trained in both kodokan judo and shorin ryu karate. And my father is considered an expert in shinkage ryu kenjutsu and has studied a variety of other styles as well. So martial arts are very important to our family. When my family came to Austin to check out the University of Texas, we instantly started looking at dojos to see what we could find. And after talking to several different Sensei, we were very happy to find Martial Arts of Austin and Sensei Charles. His knowledge of the Japanese language, history, culture and martial arts FAR surpassed any American my father has ever met. And his physical technique is truly amazing. I had the pleasure of participating in several Aikijujutsu classes and workshops in Japan. And I love my country but I never saw any of my previous teachers display such dynamic as what I have seen here. And I knew my Judo was easily on par with the United States but even my own father has not seen many of these waza (techniques) that Sensei has shown us. I challenge anyone to find a school that has the skill and amount of programs that this school offers. Boxing, Wrestling, Jiujitsu, Aikijujutsu, Judo, Kickboxing & Weaponry...WOW! I couldnt possibly recommend another dojo anywhere in Austin as this is definitely my home now. A definite 5-⭐ and 2 👍👍! Arigatoo Sensei!

I have been attending the Martial Arts of Austin for about 5 years. Since I have been there I have learned a lot about myself, physically and mentally. I have a better self confidence about my ability to defend myself in any situartion that life gives me. Sensei Charles is also teaching us all the moves in Japanese. I think that is is great to also learn a different language and have a better knowledge of their culture. Sensei Charles is a great instructor and has been a positive role model for me and my daughter. Sensei Charles is great with children and teaches them how to respect and listen not only in the dojo but also at their house with their partents. I am truly happy with this school and would recommend it to anyone, that wants to learn Judo, Kickboxing , Aikido, and Ju-Jitsu. The best thing also is that you pay one price to learn all these different Martial Arts.

I have been training under Sensei Charles since September of 2004. I have also been all over the great state of Texas, and then some, so I can say with all honesty that there isnt a program like the one at Martial Arts of Austin around anywhere else in the state. This system has comprehensive coverage of all elements of striking, throwing, weapons, grappling and is built on a primmer of excellent aikijujutsu. All of the material is taught from the smaller mans perspective, meaning all the moves are designed to work even if your opponent is bigger or stronger than you are. This is one of the parts where this system differentiates itself from many others and that I have always loved. Seeing as how I am only 53 and female I can say with no reservations that I can hold my own against anyone because of the teachings of Sensei Charles. Over the years I have met many instructors from different systems who have all known and befriended Sensei Charles for the past 20 plus years, and every single one of them has said that Sensei knows his stuff and does an excellent job teaching the material in his system. I have pages and pages of great things to say about Martial Arts of Austin and Sensei Charles, however, seeing is believing so you should come in and try it. If cost is an issue that takes priority, there isnt a school in or around Austin that has a better rate. If you are looking for an excellent childrens program, Martial Arts of Austin has the best. If you are looking for a program that will help you get in shape or lose weight, the workouts here are not easy but will yield results. If you are looking for a boost in self-confidence, there is nothing better than knowing you can defend yourself and the people you care about in any situation. If you are in law enforcement, the military, or about to go into either, the combative science class will save your life. And most importantly...if you are looking for one of the most rewarding and amazing challenges of a lifetime, come on in. Dont take my word for it, or anyone elses, look around if you need to but try it out for yourself and you will see what I am talking about.
