5 stars! Dustin went above and beyond. They quickly diagnosed my car and gave me a few options to choose for the repair. The estimate was much lower than what I was told to expect from other mechanic shops. I was assuming I’d be taken advantage of since I’m a woman and went in by myself. In anticipation I did a lot of researching about costs, but I was pleasantly surprised with the quote from Dustin. He was genuine and very upfront with me. I truly appreciate him and I look forward to using Brake Checks services in the future.

I called to see if they can inspect the brakes on my car because recently they have been making noise. After the mechanic, Alan, checked, he gave me an assessment of ~$930. It’s a bit expensive upfront to me but then again I have never had this issue before and I didn’t know how much it’d normally cost. I told the guy that I rather wait and not get this job done today. Alan was very understanding to what I said but the Manager called me from behind accusing me of wasting their time and not committing to getting the service done. In addition he blamed me for losing a potential client that they would have had taken in my time slot and this person would have paid them thousands of dollars. I understand that no one wants to lose clients, but I called them ahead of time to see if I can bring my car. If they were so busy with other jobs, they could have said “No” to me. Lastly, I was not going to be bullied into getting this service. I was promised free brake inspection. Why there should be any strings attached to it? I did not have any verbal agreement that I will get the repair especially something that will cause me close to $1000 out of pocket. This was very unprofessional on their part. I thought the management was nice and, I had regularly gotten my oil changes here. But I might just take my business somewhere else.

Making an online appointment to have my brakes checked here by these professionals was the best decision ever made. Mr. Dustin gave me outstanding service. He definitely went above and beyond to provide the best customer service ever imaginable. Mr. Dustin gave me great explanations on my rotors and pads. I needed new brake pads and rotors on all four wheels of my car. I walked into the store and was immediately shocked! I suppose I have become accustomed to discourteous attitudes and greetings by auto mechanics. However, the staff members at Brake Check were sincere, friendly, and cheerful - a stark contrast to my usual interactions at other shops and dealerships! Marcus and his team began the inspection on my braking system as soon as I handed over my keys. I waited no more than about 30 minutes before Marcus walked me over to my car to explain in great detail the state of my brakes and rotors; unsurprisingly, they all needed to be replaced. We spoke about the cost, which was presented to me thoroughly. I then authorised the replacements, and no sooner did Marcus drive off to collect the materials and have his team begin installation. For this, I waited a little less than an hour - exactly as Marcus had anticipated. I highly recommend this shop to anyone needing an oil change and brake service/repairs. They are extremely punctual, informative, and friendly. Though Id argue that this is the bare minimum, most other places fail to offer the level of service I received form this store. Overall, my brakes feel so much better now, and I will definitely be returning to this shop when I inevitably need to replace my brake pads again!

I chose to come to Brake Check based on the reviews and Im glad I did. Staff were helpful, friendly, and had a good attitude from the moment I walked in. I needed new brake pads and rotors. Dustin walked me through everything and kept me informed during the whole process. He made it clear his main concerns were the saftey conditions of the car and providing excellent service. I really appreciated the work they did and how comfortable they made me feel.

Dustin and the staff where great. We unfortunately needed a brake repair on a Sunday while we were in downtown Austin. Thankfully Dustin was able to work us in as well as stayed late on a Sunday!We are very thankful for there time and service and highly recommend this place. They were able to get us in the shop and done earlier than originally stated. Also the frequent texts and phone call updates kept us informed while we had lunch and waited for our repairs to be completed. We are a very satisfied couple from Nebraska.

This was my first time going to Brake Check and I’m glad I did! As a female going to a mechanic can be intimidating, but I can definitely say that I will be going back. I need to edit my review. The oil change on 9/2 destroyed my engine through Brake Checks negligence. My oil filter was put in incorrectly. I’m a single mother that relies on her vehicle. Brake Check was informed and has lied to me and ignored me since this incident happened. This experience is a complete nightmare that is ruining my family.

I called this location to see if they would honor my coupon for an oil change and Dustin was extremely helpful. I came in and he took my keys, and took it in the back super fast. He told me to make sure I get synthetic oil from now on as it’s better for my car engine; then halfway through the oil change he showed me my cabin air filter was bad and needed replacement; told me the price and that it would be no cost to install it. My car was done in less than an hour and Matt gave me a great recommendation on a sandwich place in the area! Thanks again guys, will most definitely be back!!

When I tell you about honest and sincere service, Im talking about Brake Check on North Lamar and their workers are phenomenal, knowledgeable and honest. My rotors were warped and deeply rusted that they even showed me how it should be compared to what it shouldnt. Physically seeing the parts myself warped from the inside and feeling the metal rust was an oh no, yeah that definitely needs to be changed. They dont waste your time , they make sure your hard working money is well spent on good honest service. Shout out to Dustin and Jesse for getting me in, and getting me out safely and in a timely manner. I cant thank yall enough for what yall do.

I only had to wait 30 minutes to get in without an appointment, so I was appreciative of that and am giving 3 stars but after my car was done there was oil or grease all over my drivers side carpet and when I asked if it would come out the gentleman said something and then went and got a bottle of cleaner to clean it up, which he didn’t even get all of it and then when I said thank you he wouldn’t even respond with his poor attitude! After 91.00 for an oil change, dirty floor and my oil light is still on, I will not be returning to this location again!! Very poor service for the price I paid to have my oil changed.

Lamar Blvd. (store #410) was extremely professional and offered fantastic customer service over the phone regarding a second opinion on my check brake system, AdvanceTrac, and ABS lights which turned on without incident on my 2014 Ford Explorer XTS.Unlike Truck City Ford in Buda, this gentleman took the time to explain how and why the service can only be performed with the Ford dealership. I wish wholeheartedly that I could give my service to Brake Check for this issue. Instead, I’ll visit this store for my oil change as he mentioned it’s get one, get the second half off with a free tire rotation at the time of any service.

I needed an oil change and gave Brake Check a shot. I did not make an appointment but the service was still timely, despite it being a busy day. Techs explained everything and did not push for me to get something I didn’t request. The additional services I did opt for were priced fairly. I look forward to coming back!

Dustin is a lifesaver!!!! Everytike I go to a mechanic they try and sell me stuff I don’t need. Dustin is the only mechanic I’ve ever met that has been respectful and honest and done quality work. As a female it’s always nerve wracking trying to get an honest assessment of my car, but here they literally showed me exactly what was wrong and how they were going to fix it. 12/10 couldn’t recommend more!!

I made a point to call before I drove over to be sure they had time for me today. They were incredibly kind and courteous on the phone. When I arrived with my two children, they remembered me by name and Dustin was quick to get me checked in. They pulled my car in immediately and did a quick brake inspection. Have been a longtime customer. No one was in the office when I arrived and after several minutes I had to go out into the shop to get someone. Asked for my lifetime alignment and tire rotation. Left the car overnight. Next morning I was told that I needed a new right and left control arm. Told them that I had purchased both of them two years ago from them and there must be a warranty. Had been quoted $304 for each control arm but was later told it would be more labor than the original quote but the parts would be under warranty but would have to wait several days to get the parts in. Received a text that my car was ready for pickup so had my wife drop me off. Once again, I waited in the office for several minutes before going to the shop to ask for help. Dustin seemed irritated that I had disturbed him and finally came into the office. I noticed that my car was still up on the rack even though the text had said it was ready for pickup. He said they were still finishing up the alignment and it would be awhile longer. Asked if he had a price on the control arm and he became argumentative about the misquote saying “everyone makes mistakes”. I went to tell my wife that she could leave and waited until my car was finished. He is supposed to call me on Tuesday when the parts are in and get me a price. I’m very unhappy at the lack of customer service especially since I’ve been a loyal customer for many years. They will lose me as a customer if this isn’t made right. Nelson Mann

I never write reviews (good or bad), so this is a pretty rare occurrence that I feel the need to warn people to not bring your car here, or any Break Check for that matter.Ive had my car since 2004 and its never been missing a hub cap. However, less than 24 hours after I left the lot, I noticed the hub cap was missing.They claimed it was on when I left the lot (which it probably was) and that it was placed on correctly (which it probably wasnt) and are refusing to replace it. I realize these things are cheap, which is what amazes me that they wont reimburse me for a new hub cap.. Its too big of a coincidence that someone stole my 04 Corolla hub cap less than 24 hours after leaving the shop. Its obvious that it wasnt placed on properly when they literally just worked on my brakes and tires..This is all on top of another Break Check that left a caliper bolt off of my breaks. I took it to another company for an estimate when they noticed this, and they didnt even want me to drive home because they said it was too dangerous.Basically, a life threatening piece of equipment was left off of my vehicle and a hub cap wasnt properly placed on, which leads me to question Break Checks quality of work and safety procedures.Ill never bring my car back to any break check.

I have been needing back brakes for a while and came to Brake Check this morning to take care of them. When I got here, I was given an estimate but was also shown other concerns with both the front and back. They could have given me a ridiculous price but they listened to my concerns and worked with me to take care of both. Dustin made me feel valued and heard as a customer. The Guys working at the Ben White location want above and beyond to give me a thorough explanation of what all was going on with my Tahoe and also took the time to guide me in the right direction to get any parts that I may need to get my truck back to 100%. Rear tail light was out so I called and they said it would be around $20 and about 30 min for them to order the part which I had to be in person for and then 10 min to install. I went ahead and took it in.Final was $36 and 1.5+ hour wait time on a midday Monday from 12-130pm.

This was my first time at this specific Brake Check but it definitely wont be my last. Dustin took care of my and gave me an affordable oil change and alignment. Dustin cares about his customers which makes a huge difference. If you want to go to Brake Check I would highly recommend this location.

Straight up started crying / having a near panic attack when the costs totaled up because I didnt know if I could afford it, and wasnt sure if they were messing with me to make more money. Ive been a client of this store for the past year or so. They have a courteous, chill, and respectable staff. While I only get my oil changed here, the crew is fair and transparent with issues and complete their task in a timely manner.

Just found my new brake shop stop!!!! Drum brakes were squeaking like crazy it was driving insane. Mat Drake was so professional and nice. He explained what they were going to do to my truck and now no more squeak and the price was awesome for the work. You can’t go wrong with this shop I highly recommend it!!!!!

The manager was super nice. I love brake check because they NEVER try to sell me nonsense... they walk me around the car to show me what’s going on and what needs to be replaced, and they showed me what the new part looks like. I ended up getting everything they recommended replaced. It wasn’t cheap but it was less than what the dealership was going to charge me. I drove away and couldn’t believe the difference in the before and after. My brakes worked pretty well before but now I can stop on a dime it’s bonkers.

After getting a laundry list of things to fix from the dealership I got online to shop around. I have a 2014 Escape that has 76k miles on it and never had the breaks replaced/worked on. After an initial call to see how much they would charge to replace my rear break pads and rotors they beat all the other estimates I received so I made an appointment for the next day online.The dealership was going to charge me $1,900 for the amount of work I needed and with the help of Dustin and his team I was able to get all of that work done + some more for $1,100!This is the first time I had to replace the breaks on a car I owned and despite not having any first hand experience to reference during this process Dustin helped explain my options --taking in to account how much I could spend at this time.As a young female I feel like Dustin treated me fairly and never once tried to take advantage of my novice knowledge. Ill be sending all my friends his way!

Went into Brake Check about one month ago to get my brakes and rotors replaced on just my front two tires. They replaced them for about $500 and sent me on my way. About a month later I can feel the brakes on my front two tires giving out about as worse as they were before. I take my car into another shop and they informed me that the calipers have locked up which have completely destroyed the brand new rotors and brakes I had only purchased one month earlier. They said any experienced shop in good mechanic would have noticed it and fixed it on the spot, and now I have to pay $800 to fix my calipers and my just-replaced rotors and brakes. I call up this Brake Check to tell them about and the manager rudely tells me in a 15 second phone call that I have to call corporate and pick it up with them because they cant do anything about it. Dont take your car here they dont know what theyre doing.

He checked my brakes for free and said they were good, even showing and explaining it all to me. He did not take advantage of my lack of knowledge by charging me for anything I didnt need. I had brake issues that I wasn’t able to figure out for the longes time, so i took it in and they found the problems in minutes and took care of my car. Then another day, it was last minute, but they were able to help me out with an alignment my car really needed. Big props to Dustin for helping me out through the whole process! This was my second visit here. First time was for an oil change. I was very happy with the service so I came back to get my brakes replaced. Spoke to Toby both times. He took the time to explain what was wrong. I really appreciate not only the prices and promotions these guys offer but the level of transparency was key to bringing me back.

Whenever I come into any chain maintenance shop, I always have an underlying feeling that Im being charged more than normal. However, these guys are the real deal. My rotors, unbeknownst to me, were completely rusted and all needed to be replaced alongside with my pads. Not only was Dustin (front desk) very thorough and professional in explaining what was wrong with my car, this place is also exceedingly fast with their services. Had I went to any other chain stores, theyre pricing wouldve been way overpriced. For having to replace both my pads and rotors, the resulting price beats all other places I visited.Seriously, if you need any sort of job done on your car, come here. My truck overheated and they just happened to be right there. I pulled in, turned put to be simple fix. All in all most would say that could happen anywhere. I am not writing this if that was the case. PROFESSIONALISM in SPADES!!! Value i can anesthesia to from what I overheard from other customers while I waited. So there is more of a review withing this review. I dont live near here. But I will go out of my way to come here for an oil change and brake service. Because I was there when I heard customers on both services. I SAW how they were with with me as far as professional behavior. I originally came for an alignment, Dustin informed me about my rim being cracked but offered to fix the alignment at no extra cost once it was replaced, which I didn’t expect and am super thankful for! Always fast, efficient and honest work

It definitely depends on who you get there but overall the service is excellent. Had one person try to convince me that my brake fluid was leaking on my front left wheel but then I came in two weeks later and suddenly wasnt an issue. Cheapest place Ive found to get break pads and rotors fully replaced, cost about 220 when it was all over and they kept me updated each step of the way.

Yes Im here at station brake tag station 405 3700 North Lamar Boulevard the text here were very professional I was greeted with a smile in a very timely manner I give them Five Stone thumbs up they took care of my truck they have all the records here on my truck theres no place that Id rather be have my truck serviced at if its not at the dealership in a truly be here at 3700 North Lamar I really enjoy the people here nice clean environment bathrooms is nice and clean the sitting room is nice and clean its just a nice and clean process thank you and have a great day.
