Very cool place! Always love visiting a cool new speakeasy. The bar is a little small on the inside, but has a great selection of local and non-local beers. Came here after work with a coworker and its a nice little underground spot - definitely not too crowded and an easy vibe inside. Would recommend checking it out! (and getting a cut)

Phenomenal experience, went in for a non traditional haircut (mohawk) after looking like Robin Williams from Jumanji for about 6months. I gave Addie very vague directions and she killed it. The vibe was chill kinda like old school and modern combined with the best elements of both. Racks for your coat and hat on the opposite side of a full length mirror so you can see whats going on. I am very pleased and will return any time Im in Austin.

First wet shave experience and it was everything I had hoped it would be. I took my buddy for his birthday and he thought it was just as great. Very relaxing and not rushed at all. Normally I spend $18 for a hair cut and it takes less than 30 minutes. For a shave and a cut I think it was around $70 before tip and worth every penny. I was in the chair for an hour, got an amazing shave and never felt like there was any pressure to get me out of there. Make an appointment and go get a shave. Youll be happy you did. Awesome staff.

I just moved to Austin and scheduled an appointment here for a haircut because of the good reviews. When I arrived, I was immediately introduced to my barber, Courtney. I didnt have to wait at all.I had a wonderful experience with Courtney. She is an excellent barber and spent a lot of time making sure that the cut looked good. Her attention to detail is as good as any barber I have ever visited. I really got the sense that she cares and it showed with the quality of the cut. Highly recommend and I will be back.

Looked this place up, for the first time yesterday, and made an appointment for the afternoon. When I arrived, the entrance reminded of a speakeasy bar from back east. The entrance is behind a metal gate, and after entering you go down a flight of stairs, that leads you into the barber area, with windows that let you see into the shop as youre walking by. Each barber has a mirror in front of their chair, so the customer (and barber) can keep an eye on the progress of the haircut. TVs galore in the place, so no one is missing out on sports, and the staff are just laid back chill men and women, who enjoy conversing with the customers.Very nostalgic place, as it reminds me of the haircuts I use to get, in the 1980s as a kid, from the Italians in Bronx, NY and would sit in the shops and listen to older men conversing about their day, lives, family and so on. My barber was Addie. Professional, welcoming and an absolutely wonderful barber. From the moment she greeted me, to the moment I left, Addie was the consummate professional, thoughtful and took meticulous care with the type of haircut I asked for. We chatted it up, about Austin, Texas and many other things, including travel, while she was cutting my hair, and I was just enjoying the comfortable atmosphere that was created in this place.One of the best haircuts that Ive received, since being here in Austin, TX. I will definitely be a returning/regular customer of this place, and will make sure to book Addie for my appointments, as she was on the money with my haircut. I highly recommend this place, and for sure recommend you reserve a haircut from Ann. Five stars!

Ive gotten haircuts all over but nothing compares to getting a haircut here. The barbers take time to really get to know your hair and gives recommendations on how to better it. Getting cut by a barber you vibe with and who does a phenomenal job. What else could you ask for?

I got such a good cut from Courtney at this barbershop. Love it. They were able to squeeze me in last minute, literally. I called after 3:00 and managed to get a 3:30 appointment. I was just passing through town but if I lived here Id make Courtney my regular stylist. She took her time and asked me in detail about what I wanted and checked in about how it was shaping up during the cut. She understood where I was coming from easily and got the best cut Ive had in a while.

Bri gave me one of the best haircuts Ive ever had, even with me not knowing how to explain what I like. Somehow she figured it out and executed it with skill! If I lived in Austin I wouldnt ever get a haircut anywhere else. Im already considering getting a flight to Austin again soon just to get another haircut here. Awesome place!

Yesterday was my first time trying this place out. Went in for a beard trim and straight razor edge up. Parking was across the street in a private parking garage which is kind of a pain. $2 parking fee if you give your barber your parking ticket.The shop itself is really cool and hidden away if you arent looking for the sign. Addie was my barber and she did a perfect job on my beard trim and edge up. She was very personable and skilled. I will definitely be returning back again for my next head shave and bead trim.

Had a great time here! The entrance is VERY sketchy looking, so make sure you know what your looking for! It looks like a prison door trying to block people out, then you go down a dark staircase, past a barber shop, to the bar. It is super cool. The music was great, the beer selection was awesome and greatly priced, and the bartender was fantastic! I highly recommend it!!

Parker was excellent. He paid very close attention to detail and made sure I got the exact cut that I wanted. I was very comfortable, and he didnt try to force awkward conversation like many barbers do. He let me sit there quietly which I really appreciate being that Im an introvert! 10/10 I will definitely return to get Parker to cut my hair again.

Mike is legit. Moved here a few months ago and have been looking for the right place tried 4-5 and nothing. Came here and he did an awesome job especially on the fade, highly recommended. Oh and he knows his football!

Several of the stylists here have cut my hair, and they always crush it. Always great conversation, great vibes in a little underground shop in a convenient location right downtown. Perfect spot if you work downtown and dont want to hop in your car to get a midday cut.

I have been a loyal customer of the Good Life Barber Shop for since 2012.There is no better shop in the Metro area! Ryan and Debbie are great people and even more important great barbers. I spent 2 years looking for a shop that can handle my hair, keep appointments, and make me feel like a valued customer.Unfortunately, over the last few months my job has added way more to my plate and my responsibilities have increased. I don’t have the time or ability to make it downtown as easily but whenever I have the chance I will be back. I live in Cedar Park and Work in North Austin and that I make the drive goes to show how great the Good Life really is.

I think Ive found my new barbershop downtown. Finally! I had a great haircut and experience. Russell did a great job. This place has a really cool vibe too and its underground. Highly recommend!

Addie is the best.

This is a warm and welcoming space with a great atmosphere. Its beer and wine only with a rotating selection of well selected beers on about 12 taps, but you can bring your own bottle of booze for a cork fee. Truly unlike any other bar in town, you feel like youre drinking with friends, even if its your first time.

These guys really went above and beyond when I was in town for work. Nobody else would help me get my machine serviced since I was out of state. All they asked for was a little paperwork and a $40 repair fee. Definitely a customer oriented business. It’s clear they care about me and my health.

Always friendly, you get a free beverage, prices are super competitive, especially for being located downtown, and they’re expanding! They let me play the piano every time I’m in there .. Im very picky about who cuts my hair. When I moved to ATX more that 7 years ago, I was lucky to find this place, and after reading multiple reviews, I decided to give it a try, and that was the right decision. Ryan has been my barber ever since, hes great at what he does! Its a good sign when most of the time you pretty much have to book an appointment several days in advance. They have a lot of loyal clients for a reason. Its also a plus the fact that they always have sports on TV and free beer!

Was looking for a place to get a haircut downtown and came across the Good Life Barber Shop. The online appointment feature was extremely helpful and saved the headache of risking walk-in wait times at most places. I was able to book a same-day appointment with Bri and she did an excellent job. I was a little unsure of exactly what I wanted but she did a great job of helping me decide, she was very patient, and provided me with some great tips. I was in Austin for a wedding and needed a haircut. A quick search of the options around my hotel lead me to this barbershop. I used the scheduling system on their website to schedule an appointment with Ryan. Ryan is an excellent barber, he is very detailed and made sure I walked out happy with my hair. The shop has an amazing atmosphere and the service is top notch.

I tried to walk in for a cut. They greater me and told me to take a seat. After 30 min they asked who I was and informed they they were booked. I have no problem with only taking appointments however sitting for 30 min waiting to tell me they would not see me was a bit much. Will not go back.

Very interesting and quaint barber shop located in the basement of some building in downtown Austin. Prices were comparable. My female barber was very nice and welcoming although she didnt do a very good job on the style requested.

I love love love this place. Go see Nick G. I schedule online (usually the same day) and he is always running right on time. Nifty little hidden bar, but dont come here expecting hard liquor as at the moment they only serve beer and wine. Definitely would consider going back, but I personally didnt think this place was all that special.

After offering me a beer and real engaging conversation, he gave me a professional hair style and a clean new beard that I could keep professional and attractive. This place opened on a Saturday for us. Both barbers were very friendly and easy to be around. One barber was better than other. We had complaints of roughness and skin burn from people that had one of the barbers. But they opened on a saturday for us so that was cool. But why the heck are they not open on allSaturdays.
