I recently arrived in Austin myself, and came here based on proximity and number of quality reviews. I was able to just walk in and get seen right away. Overall environment was more retro but clean. It was a cool vibe and I think the owner was cutting hair and welcomed me while with a client which I appreciated. I was seen by Arron who wasn’t very talkative but was extremely efficient and fast. He told me he’s been cutting for over 15 years and likes to not have to go over the same part of the head more than once. His cut was clean and fade was great, all while following his philosophy of only going over each part one time. He was done in less than 20 mins I think, impressive. Cut looked great, little conversation, but time efficient and great service. My cut’s base price was $30. I’ll be definitely coming back.

First time visiting Platinum Fades. Christian did a great job with my haircut and beard trim. Very professional! The Shop had such a great and relaxing energy. Was able to visit with the owner Randy. He made me felt at home. Admired the many Buddha statues, and artwork.

I get my haircut with Kiersten. In just two visits she has taught me more about my hair than the last 4 years combined.The shop itself has a good vibe. Came here years ago and did not feel very welcome but not like that anymore.7 pop tarts out of 7 hats. Do recommend.

Just got my haircut from Randy. He was on time and quick. Without rushing. He listened to what I wanted and did it to perfection. Platinum fades is always clean and everyone in there is friendly. Visited this place for the 1st time after 4yrs of living in Austin. It’s been hard finding a barber out here, to cut my sons hair to his liking. Erin helped us and must say, he did a great job. We may actually return. Only 3 stars cause I was put off by the initial encounter.

I called ahead of time for an appointment with Randy. Randy was professional, understood what I wanted, and did exactly what I asked of him. Taper fade, fade the back near the neck, and shape/trim the top. Needless to say, I found a place for my grooming needs. Platinum Fades have principles that they follow, and it shows. The level of passion, knowledge, and impact of servicing clientele is commendable. Lastly, the barbershop was inviting, clean, and client-oriented.

Okay so the guy in the back didnt have a mask on, while my son was getting his hair cut not even 6 feet away, talked to the manager. He text the man and he approached me with very poor communication skills. However the manager could of did a better job talking to his employees. Over all the barber was 100% I loved the service environment not so much!!!

I just arrived here in Austin at the beginning of November from New England. This is my first Texas Barber Shop experience. Damien immediately welcomed me. Super down to earth, and hospitable type of guy. Honestly, probably one of the best haircuts Ive ever received. He really took the time and effort with detail and precision. I’ve been to a few barbershops in the Austin area and Platinum Fades is by far my favorite. It’s a very unique environment with excellent service. I always book an appointment with Kash and he is always on time and hooks me up with a clean fade.

I was referred to Cookie by my own hair dresser, who is one of her clients. As soon as you walk in the vibe is RIGHT. Comfortable, interesting decor, super nice staff that greets you as soon as you walk in. I took my fiance there for a much needed refresher. She did an AMAZING JOB. Ive been going to Randy for about 20 years with my dad as well, never had anything bad always been perfect the clean cuts the time it takes and great prices I highly recommend Platinum Fades to everybody I promise if you go there you will not regret it and will walk out with the best style all cleaned up to perfection and a big part is everyone is very respectful! I have never had a barber that has actually gave a quality haircut that I have liked. I’m picky with my hair and typically won’t even get my hair cut just because I don’t want someone to mess it up but I finally got it trimmed up and Brian (vino) took care of me today and really put in so much time and effort to make sure everything was done properly. He used some amazing top of the line product that made my hair feel and look amazing. Definitely found someone that has serious compassion for his work. Swear this guy spend so much time on every detail. With very small detailed cuts. Highly recommend him!

Just moved to the Austin area, went to an other barber shop but it was closed in the mall however a store employee next door recommended this barber shop opened on Sunday witch I know most shops are closed luckily this was opened and I was referred to Randy and I was not disappointed this is a great barber shop with great barbers Randy definitely gave me a great cut and was fast but was precise on my line up and fade will definitely recommend to others

Just moved to TX from NJ and had been looking for a new barber. I had gotten a cut from a couple different places and none were the same quality fades I got back home. I honestly thought that I wasn’t ever going to get the fresh cut I’m used to again until I found Platinum Fades on google. I called the shop, expressed my issues and concerns and the owner Randy guaranteed he’d hook it up and take care of me. Needless to say I’m writing this because my experience was great. The atmosphere was chill and Randy was the man. The level of care and consideration was top of the line and I totally got a platinum grade fade. I will be returning every 2 weeks! This cut reminds me of home if not better.

I hadnt got a haircut in a while and told my barber that I was heading to the beach for an important event so please edge it up well. Immediately he started cutting not asking if I wanted to keep my length or anything and I felt as if I was just another quick haircut. When I went back for him to fix it I was told to wait outside and couldnt wait inside as it rained. Not only was my hair still missing cuts in the front but I was also treated like garbage when I was coming back to fix it.

First time to ever get my haircut at Platinum. Really cool atmosphere and employees. Keith did a great job on my fade, and it came out like I wanted. I definitely recommend this place for a great mens haircut. You wont be disappointed. Beard trims and straight razor service as well. I will be back in the future.

I called ahead to make an appointment. They said I didnt need an appointment, there wasnt a wait, come on in. Showed up 5 minutes later. 3 people in line. I waited 1.5 hours. For three people then they took an appointment before me (someone walked in after I did talking to barbers) I left. Very upset and no haircut

As someone who’s new into town and having to switch from a barber I’ve gone to for years, I was in the search for the best fade I could get. Since I’m particular with my fades, I was pointed to Randy and he absolutely killed it. Great listener, great vibes, and great haircut. I was certain I would never get the same quality I’m used to, but he easily matched that if not surpassed it. Happy to have found someone as skilled as him and looking forward to future cuts.

They don’t take appointments but when you go all the barbers have appointments and you end up waiting forever. What’s the point in that?

Had an appointment, waited 30 min, the barber was a no show. Overheard it’s common and ownership disregards the concept of an appointment if it’s barbers don’t show up to work. The expectation was for me to wait until someone else became available to take me in as a walk-in. I’m sure they give great haircuts, but the lack of structure and accountability made this a bad experience for me.

I had my doubts. 25 bucks for a haircut is ludicrous to me (coming from a suburb of Chicago where I can go in for a cut at 7 bucks cash only) but the care I received after I got into the chair was phenomenal. Cash was great! He took his time and the result was CLEAN. Ill definitely come back. The friendly atmosphere and decor alone are worth a second trip.

Randy the owner is my barber and has been for about the last 7 years. I go weekly and look forward to my haircut every time I go, he always hooks me up! About a year or so ago Randy started doing appointments Mon-Thur which really helped me out because Im always pressed for time. He has a one of a kind barber shop with a friendly environment and a lot of cool stuff around the barber shop to look at. Theres a pool table, multiple TVs and two really nice fish tanks for the guest to look at and use if they want. He has a fridge in the back with complimentary water bottles and soft drinks. Also about once a year he has a large cook out for customer appreciation at his barber shop. Randy along with the other barbers at platinum fades dont just want to give you a great haircut they genuinely appreciate your business. I cant tell you how many times Randy has told me personally how he appreciates me and is thankful for my business. One time he seen me get to the shop when he was leaving for the day and next time i went by he gave me a free haircut because he knew I lived far. So come check it out you dont be disappointed!

Only place I go to, to get my hair faded. Ive been a regular for about 3 years, and have never been disappointed. All the barbers are excellent and really take their time making sure they execute what you wanted, but I get my hair typically either by Rob, Randy, or Aaron. And Randys hospitality is unmatched, one time he ordered pizza for all the guest waiting and offered drinks. Definitely a great place to get a fade.

I got two decent haircuts from this place. The first time was a walk in, the second was an appointment which I showed up to on time but didnt get my cut until 40 minutes later. Regardless, this review is for my latest experience.I walked in on a Tuesday at 5 PM. Ive got two barbers sitting around doing nothing. One person walks in, one barber takes a guy who walks in. Appointment? Maybe, but as far as I was told, the person who cut my hair the first two times was the only one who used any booking. Another person walks in and sits down. Another barber finishes, calls him by his name next.Hard pass. This place is slightly more professional than the other barbershop I went to that Im about to bash next.

Best cut in town, hands down! Best 35.00 I spend religiously every 2 weeks! I wouldn’t put a cheap hair cut on my head and walk around in public! Customer for life!

When I moved to Austin, I was lucky to find this place. It has consistently become my go-to place for fresh haircuts. The ambiance is very relaxing and the waiting area is comfortable. I have tried all the barbers there and was always happy with my haircut after. In the end, I made Randy my regular barber because of his calm and friendly demeanor. I would even ask Randy about hair advice, like whats the best shampoo and how to style my hair. I would recommend that you set aside time for a haircut because the wait can be long, but definitely worth it. The barbers meticulously cut your hair and pay atmost attention to detail. There are other places that charge a lot for a haircut and I didnt feel like that was fair for the haircut I got. Platinum fades doesnt charge a lot but if they did, I would be OK because of the great service. Very happy I found this place.

I love this shop! I originally moved from El Paso, and was with my old shop for over 10 years. You could imagine how sad I was to leave my hometown and barber. Then a friend recommended Platinum Fades. Ive been going for 2 years now. The shop is AMAZING! Love the community, barbers, and great service. Randy is an excellent owner, and knows his stuff. Sonia, is the best! Ive followed her from her beginnings at Bird’s barber years ago. She always seems to know what I want though she’ll ask if I want something different. She always takes her time will Kiki with you if you’d like or if you just wanna sit there and nap, if you’ve been up all night studying like me. I do like the atmosphere of the shop and it seems like a lot of die hard fans stick around and will wait for an hour if not more, to see their favorite stylist if they don’t have an appointment.
