Prices are ridiculously high but the people were nice

My car was towed here after totaled in a wreck. Both on the phone and in person, the ladies were helpful and patient. They escorted us into the wrecker yard and waited while I got items out of my car. Its usually not a happy occasion that ends up with ones car being towed. Im sure they deal with all kinds of angry people daily. So I really appreciated the courtesy that I received!

Broken down school bus full of upset children on a hot, muggy day! Marshall showed up within 45 minutes! Not fortunate to have broken down for sure, but Marshall was kind, friendly, helpful, quick loading up the bus and treated us very well. 200% service and a ten star rating for you, Marshall! Spent $600 to have a scooter released that they said would cost $275. Very dodgy, plus unfriendly staff. The woman serving me was for definitely under the influence of drugs.

Gentleman I spoke to was very polite and answered my questions, He told me how to become eligible to bid, and discussed a few things about inside the industry that were of great value.

Ive seen nicer prison cells than their waiting area.They force you to get into a dirty old car to retrieve your vehicle and they refused to wear a mask.The sign says everyone must wear masks at all times yet nobody including the employees wore masks

Ive broken down twice now way north and called round rock tow companies to get me home south only to hear they dont go that far so I called Southside tow and they came out to get me took great care of my car and got me home at a reasonable cost!

Got help from Ben getting our car towed from a parking garage, he was great to work with. Very good communication - told us when he was on his way, asked about the car, and let us know when he dropped it off at the dealership. He also tried jump starting just in case. Very helpful and informative

My car was stuck on a curb in my driveway while trying to back out. I was in a panic because I needed to be somewhere. It was 8 pm on a Thursday night and after calling 4 other places one of them suggested Southside Wrecker because they were close to me. They said they could be there in 30 min and they were. The driver Luis Guzman was so professional and helpful. He put me at ease, took the time to make sure my car was not damaged and set the car safe and sound back on the driveway. Easily the best towing experience Ive had.Thank you Southside Wrecker!

No one on the staff wears a mask and even drove me back to my car in there car with no mask despite caronavirus policy. Also made me push my car alone out of the fence about 100 yards while they watched.Terrible service and completely non professional and unhelpful. Rediculous prices, in fact it cost 234.00 to tow car less than 5 miles and hold it for less than 6 hours. Do not do buisness with this company.

Not necessarily where you want to go, generally they would have impounded your car and you must pay to get it out, usually a few hundred or more? Nice people and very helpful. Prompt and courteous.

Okay, so I parked on Dirty 6th last night and accidentally left my car there a little past 9:00. I realize this at about 9:20 and start sprinting down the street to my car. Its literally rigged up behind the tow truck and its starting to drive off. I chase it down and inform the driver its my car. He said its $150 to take it off now or $250 to get it from the lot. So of course I opt for the former.Basically, the driver was super nice, released my car, and ran my credit card when he couldve just told me to F off and left with my car. Im grateful to him and glad I caught it in time.

Beware if your car has been totaled and you’re going to retrieve items take someone that is fast and a huge box or bag with you if you have a lot of stuff to put your belongings in!! These people are thieves they make you sign a waiver saying only one person is permitted for 10 minutes to gather your belongings. That way they can steal whatever you don’t have the chance to get.

They take your money 260 $ for parking in wrong spot

Regardless of these people towing cars...they have a job to fulfill. This staff was really helpful and courteous. The young man helped me deliver my items to my vehicle. He was very polite.

Legit company owner is not like a mechanic

Its not fun getting towed... That did not happen to me. I was cutoff by one their heavy duty tow trucks on south Lamar in rush hour traffic. Guess the guy didnt want to wait on the bus, i had to slam on my breaks almost causing me to hit the back of this truck. Then the younger guy behind the wheel try to break check me?? So petty...you drive around with a big number and company name on the side. Have more respect for safety... you are technically consider an emergency vehicle in the state of Texas.

Absolute thieves. Deliberate misinformation. I had a replacement valid DL 60 day temporary License with my photo on it. They would not accept it. Called three other services and the temp was a-ok. Said I had to have insurance. The car is inoperable...another lie. Never informed me of a form authorizing another person or service to retrieve the vehicle. They put my car where my friend(said authorized person) with a trailer would have to push it out the gate to self tow. But only one person was allowed. So had to hire another service to tow it out of their pound. These crooks are the hired City of Austin David area a precinct of patrol, My car was involved in a crime. intoxicated person behind the wheel, a homeless vagabond who had broken into my car. This person had no access to the ignition keys. I had disabled the car, no gas, no battery, and no distributor rotor. It was parked legally where other body shop autos were also parked awaiting shop services. My car.....a classic 1978 Buick Century Aeroback T-Type Turbo sedan with custom wheels and tires. Illegally towed and impounded so that the City of Austin, and SouthSide could legally steal it. They were not successful. Next step a LAWSUIT. I have sued police and cities four times in Federal Courts, once in State Court, and received a settlement on intent to sue from corrupt Denton, Texas since 1993. i am going to tear these thieves to pieces.

Its gonna suck if your cars impounded, thats a given. But it could be way worse. Southside actually makes it pretty easy to get your vehicle back compared to a lot of places. The sooner you can get there the better because the fees really do add up. But all you need with you is your identification and the fees as long as youre the registered owner. Thats it. A few minutes later youre pulling out. As hassle free as an experience of this type cam be, both times Ive had to deal with them.

After my vehicle suddenly stopped working, I called for a tow. Told Id be charged $85 up front and with their background noise I was unable to understand the rest. They arrived 40 minutes later. Very nice. Put my vehicle on flatbed and drove 3 miles to my house. I was handed a bill and told I owed an additional $129 for the service call. What? Ive never been charged this before. Unfortunately I could not understand the lingo very well so I just paid it. Went to my insurance agency to give them the bill for reimbursement. They never heard of this extra charge. I was cheated.

Definitely a scary place to go to at night. dimly lit and dirty but the staff is very professional about getting you on your way.

I was lied to about the price this company charges to tow my full size school bus. I called and they told me it was $200 to hook up tow truck & $5 per mile. I called days later, I just got off the phone with them. They asked me how much I was quoted and I told them of the price I was quoted, which I just mentioned, and they said that they needed to check with their management team to verify. I received a call back & they told me now its $250 + $4 a mile. So they changed not just the hook up price but also the per mile rate, which I assume is because they just want to make more money off of me. Whichever reasoning they have is their reasoning, I just know I was quoted a price and they did not honor it. Instead they said its $50 more from a process I was quoted just days before.This I feel is completely unprofessional so I will be using another tow company. I recommend you do the same because they will try to get more money from you, if they feel they can.Thank you for taking the time to read this review and I hope it influences your decision in which Tow company to hire.

They have a one person only policy where you walk through a hallway behind a locked door alone and get in a beat up car with one of the employees to drive back into the dark lot to get your car. Luckily I had a friend with me who waited to make sure I left saftely, otherwise I would not have gone back alone.Pro tip: if you have out of state plates make sure you have something with you that has your out of state address on it or they will not release your car.

We have a trucking company and we have to deal with wrecker services a lot for loading and unloading and the people at Southside were the most professional, knowledgeable and accommodating people we have worked with in a long time....Very reasonable rates, courteous and professional. I would recommend them for any of your towing or storage needs...

Worst experience, extremely rude, I have ever had, called to get payment straightened out and was informed if I came out same day to pay I could get the tow truck out in the morning to get the vehicle to junkyard so I wouldnt need to pay the extra $80 for sitting an extra night, I drove a hour just to be told by their incompetent staff that no one told him about this so Im out of luck...

Towng service called by Austin PD due to multi-car collision. Insurance company contacted and inspected vehicle at SWI site and termed vehicle totaled, which meant that it was not drivable. Insurance company took title on vehicle.SWI sent certified letter to owner listing outrageous fees: Tow Fee: $150 (for less than 1/2 mile; going rate in Austin is about $65; applied impound fee: $20; applied daily storage fee: $20; and applied Notification fee: $50.Do not recommend doing business with this company. Reasonable charges should have been applied in these circumstances.
