I dont even know how to begin to express how wonderful Jake is and how happy I am to have a mechanic that I can trust! Im one of those garage mechanics who try to do as much of my own repair work as I can. When there is something outside of my ability and I need to go to a mechanic, I go to Carters. I have been taken advantage of in the past, but not once have I ever felt the least worried that I might be here. In fact, my very first time there was to figure out a problem with my ac. I had taken it to one place that said my CRV had the black death issue and would be a couple thousand to fix. From my own investigation of the ac system, I was doubtful of this. So I found Carters and took it there. Turns out a sensor had become disconnected, which fixed the problem and saved me so much money. To me, that sort of integrity is the most important, and now I wont go anywhere else. Jake is kind, trustworthy, and honest -- and I appreciate so much that he is willing to take the time to explain the issues to me so I can learn and understand more about how the car works. Knowledge is power ;) Bottom line, hes a good person and I trust him fully. Thank you so much, Jake, for everything, youre the best!! :)

Needed a list minute check up and and oilI change as I am in Austin for a few days, and they got it done in two hours and let me know that my tires also need alignment. These guys know their stuff and care about keeping your car running. The price was very fair as well. Highly recommend this place, theyll do you right.

Ive been taking the used Jeep Wrangler I bought here to Carters for everything from an after-market A/C unit to replacing all my rubber (belts and hoses--its a 15-y-o Jeep w low mileage, but Im big on preventative maintenance), to new control arms to just simple oil changes to much more. Pricing has always been reasonable, and the work has been stellar. A good mechanic who knows the way around an engine--troubleshooting sensors and death-throws and the like--is hard to find these days--it seems like mechanics only know what the computers tell them at the dealerships--heck, Jeep wouldnt even try working on my after-market A/C because it was out of their expertise. Are you kidding me? Carters knows their stuff, you can trust in their work, and the price too, and theyre friendly and stay in touch while things are in the shop. They also wont sell you on unnecessaries...I worked out a plan w my Jeep so that I could prioritize stuff over the last couple years and now I feel like I have a brand-new car since weve crossed everything off my list. Thank you Carters Transmission and Automotive!

Jake was extremely helpful in getting me back in my car and on the road. Not only was the cost about half of what the dealership quoted me, but the work was done in 2 days!! To top it all off, I live an hour away from Austin, and Jake stayed late (half hour after close) to wait for me to get there. This being on a Friday evening no less!!! Thank you so much for your great customer service! YOU ARE OUTSTANDING!!!

I had an AC system installed from scratch last summer by Carters and it worked very well, starting to cool off in literally about 30 seconds. Recently I noticed that there was likely a small leak in the system and Carters repaired it at no charge and returned the truck within a couple of days. I have been impressed with their customer service and will use them again when the need arises.

Referred here by a friend a couple of years ago who knows how careful I am about letting just anyplace work on my 1980 CJ7. After the long repair time waits at Jeep Masters (too far south me) and the unwelcome greeting (accompanied by even longer repair times) at Just Jeeps, this was a GREAT DISCOVERY!! These guys are the real thing, no nonsense. They know what they’re doing and don’t cut corners. And their turnaround time is impressive. Only sharing because I know there’s a shortage of this type of care for our Jeeps in the area. The owner, Jake, helped me with my second vehicle replacement choice after a year of service and helped me learn quite a bit about used cars in the process. My old Jeep and 2010 Subaru could not be more pleased with our new service providers.THIS is where you want your vehicle worked on.

I have been going to carters for almost three years now. I found them on short notice because my jeep started having spontaneous issues and I was concerned about driving it until I got it looked at.I could go into detail about the several miscellaneous problems I have had and their specific treatment of each one but I think the real heart of what I have to say is the fact that I exclusively go to them and I never hesitate to bring my car in.Carters is always fair, honest, and reasonable. As a woman who has never been very interested in cars, I frequently call my dad and brothers to double check what people tell me about my car before I pay for any services.Carters is the one place I feel confident taking my car without calling any of them, at any point. I never double check there. They have earned it.It is a small business so sometimes scheduling isnt instant but they go out of their way to accomodate. Ive always gotten in pretty quickly, and their work is beyond worth it.Jake has been so responsive and kind to me. He explains all of my options, even the ones that dont make him any money, and lets me decide. He truly wants to help and never pressures me. They always make things so easy to understand and so manageable. I have had some strange things go on with my car. Each time, they took a special interest in getting to the bottom of it and fixed it. Furthermore, when they fix something, it stays fixed. While my jeep was the original reason I found them, it definitely will not be the reason I keep going. No matter what I drive in the future, I will bring it to Carters.

I posted the following on YELP! but originally found Carters through Google Reviews so I thought it important to post here as well.Do you remember the era of a handshake and a smile- if so and you enjoyed honest business relationship this is your place. Taking my car in for a repair ranks right up top with going to the dentist in my book but Carters has changed that perspecitve for me.My 2002 Nissan Xterra is starting to show her age and decided to give up on the air conditioner right as this summer is starting to show its ugly fangs. After attempting to recharge it myself twice I gave in to what I was certain to be a bank breaking repair. I chose Carters based on very high google ratings and was not dissapointed. Even though it wasnt the $30 fix I had in my budget, I believe the price was fair ($650) and overly competitive. Its been two weeks since my repair (hoses and couple of other smaller parts) and my A/C is running better than it has in years and no signs of any hickups. They were quick (able to fix it for me the very next day), attentive (patiently tolerated my beefy boyfriend questioning his diagnosis), informative (walked me through a diagram of a basic vehicle A/C system, how each compenent worked and what to expect in the future), and all out just friendly and receptive. THIS, my friends, is how you do business. Even though it hurt to pay for the repair, it had to happen and Im confident I got one of,if not THE, best deals in town. Plus, I would rather give my business to a local, honest, customer-service oriented organization than a chain focused solely on sales and profits.Give them a try- they give free bids so it costs you nothing to decide for yourself.
