Wow has this place fallen off a cliff. After taking my dog here for some 12 years, Im just happy to never have to step foot inside this vet again.Years ago the staff was friendly and helpful, the treatment was generally affordable, no nickle-and-dime-ing, no selling of care that wasnt needed. Now they will run you through the ringer to even make an appointment, and on arrival you should expect to shell out hundreds of dollars on care they tell you in necessary but is not (see multiple tooth cleaning complaints throughout reviews here, they will push a blood test every time youre there, etc.). And if your pets ailment cant wait for 3 entire weeks to get a regular appointment, then you have to bring them through ER, which is outrageously expensive. But dont get that confused with a triage center, because they dont do major operations at the ER. Its just another fee for having a pet with complications that need to be addressed within the month.I only learned that after we brought in our other dog last year with bloat/flipped stomach. They were happy to accept my dog to the ER, and happy to charge us for xrays before telling us that even if his stomach was flipped, they couldnt help him there! On top of that, there was no specialist in the building to read the xrays. They actually wanted us to sit there while my dogs chance of death increased by the second until someone who could read an xray arrived. So we ate the cost of a useless xray (only some $500) and rushed my dog to BluePearl, the only triage location in Atlanta. Did Briarcliff tell us that on the phone when we called to warn them of our arrival? No, because then they couldnt bill us! Fortunately my dog lived, with no thanks to Briarcliff. My latest complaint would be that my still-living, elderly dog was marked as inactive during Covid and they were unable or unwilling to bother locating her decade worth of records until I practically did it myself. The staff I spoke with was rude and terse, and ended the call responding to my thank you with a mhmm full of attitude. I couldnt be any more disappointed with an establishment Ive paid thousands to over the years treating me like I was a problem because I wanted to schedule an appointment and couldnt due to their own internal mistake.DO NOT use this establishment. Dont be fooled by the owner responding to reviews. It costs a lot more for them to provide decent service than to feign concern by typing up a paragraph after the fact. VCA is a national chain, meaning the bottom line is more important than community impact. Avoid any VCA if you can.If you live in the area, Ansley Animal Clinic is nearby. Id even go as far as to say my overall experiences with Banfield, which you can pretty much find at any PetsMart, is better than the last few years at Briarcliff. My family has brought six or seven pets here since 1999. We are done.Edit: My disappointment in this establishment continues to grow. I find the owners response to my review blaming the pandemic or related challenges for my experience absurd and inappropriate, as I fail to see the correlation. This is the attitude you risk engaging with by using VCA Briarcliff.

Office manger dr azalea Boyd and regional manger Todd sanders ignore emails, lie and don’t care! They are way too busy and know they can get away with poor care. Dr Hillhouse forgot our dogs monthly medication, forgot to do a 3 blood pressure exams and was ugly. None of he management cared! They hate insurance and will not help you if you need assistance with an apeal. If you have insurance don’t go here. The thing is they suggest many dogs to get insurance but won’t help you if something comes up. Poor bed side manner. After awhile the poor treatment and poor reviews will catch up with them. However Corporate is no better. The CEO lets them get away with it. The company is just lazy and only cares about the dollar.

VCA is phenomenal! Their after hours care is great, their staff is always so helpful, and the doctors even call to check up on my pup after procedures. VCA is always careful to give me all of the options while candidly advising me which paths may be most practical for the circumstance - its great to not feel ripped off yet still know, with certainty, that Im doing all the right things I could be doing for my pup. Would definitely recommend.

Thanks for being there when I was in need of help with my dog baby, but if I’m coming there to see wats wrong please don’t interrogate me like it’s a reason to lie about wat happened and keep throwing up how much to move forward with the process, and if you have the amount they could run test, but if you’re a veterinarian today time are tough NO IM NOT ASKING FOR A DISCOUNT, but why the most expensive has to be the first solution like it was like do u have the money or not, and since I was wasn’t going to pay almost $700 for bloodwork I was rushed off the phone politely, THANKS FOR BEING BUT I PROMISE NOT TO GO BACK THERE ITS ALL ABOUT MONEY YES MONEY MAKES THE WORLD GO AROUND BUT WHEN YOUR FUR BABY IS SICK AND DECIDE YOU GOING TRUST YOU HAVE MONEY CAUSE NOTHING IS FREE.

Agree entirely with previous comments about serious drop off of care and services in the last two years. Been with Briarcliff since 2003. Previously very happy. Now, no appointments available for weeks, encouraged to use “ER” for even minor services (which is MUCH more expensive), staff increasingly rude, blood draws and other money making procedures increasingly encouraged. Asked for a referral this week after the one provided by Dr Floyd could not see my pet for a month. Was told that I should just keep the appointment a month away because “people are really busy these days.” Referral was ultimately provided after I complained. But whi needs grief from their vet among all things these days. Requested my pets records and moving onto a different vet. Sad, because it used to be a good place.

I took my new puppy Ruby in on 4-12-2021 because she was experiencing a lot of vomiting and upset stomach and was dehydrated and was very concerning to me since we had only had her for 1 day. VCA took our call late night and saw us and made sure our little girl was safe. We even got a follow up call the next day, Ruby was fine and just needed some rest from the new environment and less food. VCA took care of us at no charge and went above and beyond!!! 5 stars. Kudos!

Be careful with this hospital. I have had dog insurance before but I have some head scratching, to what is really going on. I had a balance that I never knew about. I had to ask what the balance was. Then I was told that I asked them to do the treatment that was done but I didnt. I thought that was slick. If you have a puppy and you get the wellness care question everything. Once the puppy shots are up to date you are just making payments. I left because something happen and their story didnt make sense. I think it was mutual !! Its not what you think.

3 strikes and your out.I happily spent $ 2600 there for dog bloat and an ICU stay. Luckily my Lulabelle was ok. I then decided to use this Vet for future boarding.Number 1… Boarded my precious dog there and picked up after boarding and requested a bath prior to departure. I was assured this would happen, but upon arrival to pick up, no bath done . Just a sorry, we couldn’t do it. No big deal, but then came number 2.Number 2…. I picked up my dog from boarding and she was escorted to my car by a tech. The tech unleashed my dog in the parking lot prior to placing her safely in my car. The Vet is located on an extremely busy street. I ran and fell trying to grab her before she ran off. The manager apologized and stated that the tech was new and instructed her to never unleash dog until safely in car. I was angry but decided that everyone is new and to forgive the business.Number 3 …. I decided to use boarding services again. I called to see if bath was done prior to pick up. I was told no by the extremely unfriendly receptionist. I asked her to ask manager to make sure. She returned to the phone and then stated that the bath was done and it was unusual for someone to call and ask prior to pick up and usually that is all confirmed at pick up. I explained that I had a bad experience, where I waited till pick up and the bath was NOT done.Am I not allowed to call and inquire this prior to pick up????SOOOO, disappointed in this facility. I have promptly transferred my records to another Veterinarian. I have NEVER had so many issues and the level of inappropriate rudeness at any other Vet service in my lifetime. I have always been a pet parent.

Dr. Muller was my vet there and he was wonderful. I wish there was one here in Texas. These folks are the BEST, and if I ever can get back home to Georgia, they will again be my vet of choice. Like many folks we adopted a new pup during COVID, so we needed a new vet (our cats already go a cat specialist). Had several friends recommend VCA Briarcliff and weve had a great experience with them so far. The vets are always very thorough in their explanations of care (over the phone due to COVID precautions), the staff have always been friendly and helpful, and picking up medicine and paying (via app) are a breeze. Recently my pop got injured pretty badly while playing in our back yard and they were able to see him as soon as I arrived (with no appointment) and got him treated quickly and effectively. Very happy with our experience, and well continue to use VCA Briarcliff for all our pups needs.

We have unfortunately had two bad experiences with two different pets we’ve taken to VCA Briarcliff. The most recent experience was today, when my dog was given a rabies shot that she had already gotten just two months prior at her previous vet. We had been transitioning our dog from a different vet over to VCA Briarcliff, and rather than asking for permission to give the rabies shot, they went ahead and gave it to her. This is unethical and unprofessional, and we would have gladly and easily shared her rabies certificate if the vet had simply asked. The other experience, with our cat, lasted several months. Our cat had been experiencing sporadic episodes of aggression, and we took him to VCA Briarcliff to help diagnose the issue. He had bloodwork and x-rays done, and the vet diagnosed him with hyperthyroidism, pointing us to specialists to have a procedure done. One of the specialists refused to see our cat after seeing the bloodwork because they stated he did not have that disease. On a subsequent visit, the vet said that our cat has a lesion growing on his tooth and that it should be surgically removed. We were surprised this wasn’t something that was noticed on his earlier check-up. We opted to wait to see if some medication would help our cat’s episodes, and we’ve not even heard a follow-up call from the vet to check on him in the three months since we last took him in.

I walked in through the doors of Briarcliff Animal Hospital at around 12:50am with my 13+ yr old shihtzu.I broke down in tears at the register explaining that something was wrong. The emergency doc on for the night was Dr. Bezdek. She came in and explained all the possibilities and brought 3 treatment plans depending on cost.Dr. Bezdek’s first suspicion was pancreatitis and she turned out to be right. My baby had to be hospitalized for 2 days while getting IV fluids, pain meds, and other meds. She was discharged on a few different medications for 3-5 days.I visited her a few times while she was in the ER.They let me visit all hours of the day/night. And they’d let me stay in a room with her to spend time. The vets and vet assistants were so nice and caring... I felt at ease that she was being well cared for.I see a lot of reviews referring to cost and lack of communication with their bill. For me, that was never the case. They were upfront about all the costs, brought me an itemized statement with that day’s estimated cost as well as future costs. And explained of the possibility of changes and that they’d call me if anything were to change with my bill.I noticed a sign in the rooms as well— to ask if you have any questions or concerns on the bill.If your pet is without insurance, I think it should be expected that the cost/bill will be very high. The vet called 2-3 times per day with updates at the beginning and the end of their shift.Communication was great from beginning to end. They also sent me a picture of her in her cage on one of the days ! I thought this was such a sweet thing. The docs I most communicated with was Dr. Bezdek, Dr. Powell and Dr. Rehm. They were all very nice and thorough and it was easy to trust my baby in their care. They even called twice to follow up after her discharge. She is currently doing very well and is almost back to her normal self.Overall, I’m extremely satisfied and my sweet girl would agree. They always answered the hundreds of questions I had or led me to someone who could. If anything were to happen again (praying not), I’ll definitely be taking her here!

We have been taking our animals to Briarcliff Animal Hospital for at least five years and have been extremely happy with the care provided by Dr. McNamee and Dr. Fowler. Unfortunately, when our cat got sick unexpectedly, we were not able to see either one of them, but trusted our cat would get proper care. The treatment he received was substandard, to say the least. Our cat was exhibiting signs of discomfort in his mouth, as well as uncontrollable, constant drooling. He was also no longer eating and as a result, had lost a significant amount of weight. The staff took him back, examined him and the vet called us to discuss treatment. They advised us that they would not be able to view inside his mouth, because he is a cat, and would need to put him under to properly assess the issue. Their earliest appointment was over 4 weeks out for this, which we scheduled ASAP. They drew blood & urine for testing and advised us that they would call with the results. A few days later, they called and stated the results depicted nothing was wrong, everything was normal. Our cat continued to lose weight and appeared physically uncomfortable, which we called and told the receptionist REPEATEDLY, who responded with no help, no suggestions, and frankly sounded annoyed with us calling. At this point, I did not think my cat would make it to his appointment, so I called another vets office in Midtown for a second opinion. They were able to see him that same day. The care given to our cat was 200% better and more thorough than BAH felt he required. Not only was the vet able to see inside his mouth, she was able to take numerous photos inside his mouth to show us the ulcer inside his mouth. Further, they reviewed the bloodwork taken by Briarcliff and advised us that it clearly depicted that he had an infection of some sort. They gave him IV fluids, started him on antibiotics and pain meds. They advised us that he would need surgery to extract a broken tooth, which we scheduled ASAP. A week later, I dropped him off for surgery, assuming it was going to be okay, hours later, I received a call from the new vet, who told me that they could not perform the surgery, as they found a tumor under his tongue, which was likely cancerous. Due to the fact that he was 14, we opted not to put him through any further pain and ultimately decided to put him down, which is something I WAS NOT expecting at all. Our cat ultimately suffered for close to a month because of the poor treatment received at Briarcliff and the inadequate, insensitive people who answer the phones there, who ultimately decide the fate of your pet and whether or not they should alert the vets when patients call. We WILL NOT be going back.

I brought my cat in as an emergency. After dropping him off I did not hear back for several hours, when a vet finally called me back I was informed that the cause was unknown but that he was dehydrated and had one *known* parasitic infection but it was unclear as to whether either of these were causing my cats illness. I was told that it would be best to leave my cat over night, and if you know anything about overnight stays they are enormously expensive. When I called the following day I could not get ANY vet on the phone. I called three times starting early morning until before before mid afternoon. I still didn’t hear back until evening when a vet told me that the cause was still unknown but recommended several procedures that still would not guarantee results and cost near $2,000. I told this person to disregard anything that wasn’t vital but only managed to get the bill down to around $1,200. When I was finally told, two hours later, that I could pick up my cat the man in contact with me (I didn’t hear anything from a vet after the previous call) was extremely reluctant to allow me to even see my pet before I paid and when I informed him that I didn’t have anywhere close to the billing amount he rebuked again that he didn’t think that would be allowed and he would have to contact the billing person but that she had left for the day. I waited for 1 1/2 hours in the parking lot before this person finally came back and had informed me that he still couldn’t get in contact with the billing department person but made his own decision to allow me to have my animal as long as I paid as much as I could (MAY CAT WAS RANSOMED). I had to put a $500 charge on my credit card that I still have not been able to pay off but still managed to pay an additional $350 from my debit card, and to boot have lost my job. My cat is still vomiting, still under weight to which I am struggling to take care of myself or face losing my cat. I am being hounded for payment and still even after calling today and explained this entire situation I am positive that my remaining $304 bill will now be sent to collections while I am broke and jobless and my cat is still struggling for his health. I am VERY DISPLEASED with my service and it is very, very clear that all this animal hospital only cares for collecting payment for the least amount of results possible. And additionally after I received a call back today (12/28/20) as I was requested to do I was told that it was pretty much my fault. Terrible customer service, just awful really. The manager, Brian, really just called to tell me that it was my fault after the fact because I hadn’t called back, even after explanation that I was busy with work (at the time) and then with looking for a job after I’d lost mine; as well that I didn’t have the money for further examination. He said that I may not have had to pay if I had called sooner, but it’s really easy to tell me that three months after (which he had told me three times).Having a pet is not and should not be treated as a privilege only for the rich

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!Brought my dog for a late night appointment limping with a swollen paw. I was told it was an infection and $312 later She received a shot, and take home medication. I was told it may take some time for the antibiotics to show noticeable improvement, that I she be kept from licking her paw, and call back if I saw no improvement.Three days later and without much improvement, I was told to come in for xrays to check for fractures, among other possibilities. When I pointed out that she had been walking on that foot for three days, and why a break or fracture wasnt ruled out first, I was told the doctor didnt think it was necessary then. When I asked how It could be necessary now when it wasnt WHEN IT FIRST happened....I didnt get an answer. They said they would have to run the case through another doctor and admin to determine whether or not they felt how her exam/ no X-Ray ordered on the first visit would warrant crediting the money from the first visit to any follow up visits, ect. It took a few moment to get a time line. To their credit the call back was quick, although in my opinion I felt their main concern was money, and not my dogs current condition or well being.****HERES THE WORST PARTI pointed out I had already paid $312 for an appointment and now my dog had possibly spent three days on pain meds walking around on a broken fractured foot, and while I am NOT a healthcare provider for any of Gods creatures, felt in my opinion a break/fracture should be ruled out first. They told me I could bring her back in for a free re evaluation visit, but would be expected to pay for X-rays, and all other needs. They did refund 110.00 for the appointment cost, BUT SAID THE $212 OF MEDICATION THEY GAVE HER WOULD BE USED IF SHE HAD A FRACTURE OR BREAK SO THEY WOULD NOT REFUND THAT AMOUNT...EVEN WHEN I POINTED OUT THEY NEVER BOTHERED TO FIND OUT IF SHE DID HAVE A FRACTURE OR BREAK OR PROVIDE ANY TREATMENT REQUIRED IF THAT WERE THE CASE.I feel like Im in the twilight Zone....

I’ve had a bad feeling about this place from the beginning. But after taking my dog to a vet that actually cares about the pet vs $$$, I will never go back.My very first visit, before I even saw the doctor, a non-vet came in with an estimate for teeth cleaning and was told it was based on age. BEFORE THEY EVEN LOOKED AT MY DOG. And every time after, they led with teeth cleaning. My dog has some tartar, halitosis but I wasn’t biting on the cleaning (more on this below).I met 3-4 different vets and all of them came off as arrogant and ‘take it or leave it’. We spent some money trying to find out why my dog was having stomach issues. No real concern about his diarrhea or even blood in his stool. Just more and more tests.I asked for any potential diet options and we got him on a prescription diet and it seemed to ease his gastro issues. And that was enough for them.Earlier this year he had a tumor removed (he’s 4). Ever since that surgery he’s been lethargic and cold. Mentioned this on both of the dr check-ins after the surgery and no concern.Fast forward to September and diarrhea is back. It’s vicious. Luckily, I was traveling and had to hit up another vet hospital. After one blood test, they quickly became suspicious of endocrine disease and ordered an additional test. BAM! hypothyroidism. Except it was so severe at this point because Briarcliff ignored the signs for TWO YEARS. It required IV thyroid medicine that the vet of 30 years had never had to do before. You know what cleared up immediately? The halitosis. The lethargy. The diarrhea. My pup is on the mend but I cannot stress how negligent his care was with VCA Briarcliff Animal Hospital. We will be looking for a new vet upon returning to Atlanta.

Terrible customer service. Mediocre veterinary care. Ive been in veterinary medicine 8 years and Im not impressed, to say the least. Veterinarian turn over is very high which means theyre hiring either: vets fresh out of school, or soon on their way to retirement; either way youre not getting consistently good medical attention. Pretty consistent with VCA practices in general. Thought I would give this one a chance, since the reviews were good, but even the review average has come down in the past year, so I can assume a lot of people are having experiences similar to mine. If your pet is in need of care, go here. They will love on your pet and take good care of them the way you want someone else to.Long post unto why;Its taken me a while to write this review but I feel like it is much needed. I came here with my cat, Lune, at the beginning of the month in the middle of the night for an emergency. He was taken to the back and I was told the doctor will look at him when she could since she was in an emergency. I later found out that the minute he came in she stoped what she was doing and took care of my baby. It doenst matter to me how long I waited as I knew he was being taken care off and I could not do anything for him but they could. Whatever they needed they had the okay from me. And they did, 100%; they kept checking on me (9months pregnant), and reassuring me that they were doing eveything they could. Dr. Byerly was over the top, even when it was time for her shift to end, she spent sometime with me and let me know what was happening with my Lune. They let me go see him in the back, they told me they will call me when they had more news. They did eveything for him and they made me feel at ease and let me cry. They offered him the best care he could have in his last hours. They were there for him with love. That day was the hardest day, I had Lune since he was 2 months old and now he was gone at 7yrs old; due to a heart problem. The staff was amazing under the circumstances. They sent us a letter with their condolensces, this touch me deeply. All in all, I was to say thank you to the staff that was there early Wednesday May1st and to the staff that helped me carry him to the car for his final ride (to another facility)Thank you, merci.

I wish I could rate the doctors and office staff separately. The doctors are great but the pure lack of any type of organization from the office staff is making seek out a vet for my fur babies.I have been to the clinic three times in the last month and each time has gotten increasingly frustrating. The first time one of my babies wasnt feeling great so I called in to see if I could get an appointment. You cant do that. Its either pay for an emergency appointment or call back at 7am to get a same day sick appointment if they have one. Sorry, if my baby is sick Im not playing the waiting game. He saw the dr for all of five minutes and when I spoke to the doctor he said my baby would be right out. So I waited and I waited. An hour later no baby. I call and the office staff tells me I cant have my baby back because discharge papers havent been signed. He had to spend a full day there for a five minute operation because no one would ask the doctor to sign the paper.Second time - he had to have dental surgery. I called three weeks in advance to schedule the appointment. No one that answered the phone could tell me anything about the procedure or what to expect. They just wanted to know if 9am would work for a drop off time. The day before the surgery they call to remind me and tell me he needs to be there no later than 8am.Dr. Hillhouse was awesome at keeping me up to date before, during and after the procedure.Unfortunately, no one gave me a quote for the procedure so I ended up thinking I was getting an under $600 bill and ended up close to $2000 bill.I was told I could pick up my baby after 7pm. I was in the parking lot at 7:05pm and the front office staff informed me they needed time to get the paperwork in order. They had all day to do that and I let them know when they called to give me the pick up time I would be there.Today- the final straw. We had a 3:15 check up. I get there and have called them to come get my baby at 3:08pm. I was told this was a five minute in and out check up. When did I get my baby back? 4:20pm. I called 20 minutes after I had heard from the Dr.Hillhouse that he would be right out to me. The office staff member that picked up the phone giggled and said he didnt have my baby discharged. Then the vet team member that brought him out almost gave him to the wrong person.Thats when I called asked for my vet records. Which now that i see the vet records that were given to me. They are not complete records of my fur babies care. When I came to this vet three years ago I brought full medical records since adoption. Those where not given back to me. X-rays and medical knows from a ER trip that I proved is not Included either.

I have been taking my new puppy here for about two months. I will not be back. Puppy threw up and had bad diarrhea. Not sure what caused it - food had not changed. The vet examined the dog and said no blood in stool, but options include $500 + for xray to rule out foreign object, something for stomach, bland diet ($270). When I pressed about whether it was necessary for a x-ray given his condition and exam - she backed off. Seems to me that people here are competent, but they are pushing costly and unnecessary treatments to boost the bottom line.

I brought my cat in for a obstruction. They gave him fluids and an x-ray (bringing my total up to $623) and they wanted to keep him on an IV for the rest of the day, which would have brought my total up to $2000+ which just wasnt an option for me. I decided to bring him home to give supportive care and watch his condition. Ive been bringing him in for fluids everyday and they have been extremely unresponsive. I have been calling them with my questions and spent hours on hold. On top of that they lost the medical records I brought him in with and havent shared valuable information with me such as his temperature, how large his obstruction is, etc. This vet is extremely expensive and the care isnt great.

I regret taking my baby here. We visited VCA because Duke was puking unusually and in pain. After running many test, we were told that he had pancreatitis and diabetes. Now lets rewind. We had recently visited the VCA a little over a month prior because he was in pain and we were told he was having muscle spasms. Dr Powell gave us 14 days worth of medication, but no mention of pancreatitis nor what could have caused those muscle spasms. I thought he’d be fine after taking the medicine. On this last visit we now have diabetes and pancreatitis. Duke was puking and a little drowsy prior to going in, but still walking and alert. After being hospitalized at the VCA, he became more ill, very ill and couldn’t even hold himself up to pee. They told me they just needed to control the pain, the vomiting and get his glucose under control. Kidneys were fine, everything else was fine. I was hopeful I’d be taking him home and Dr. Moore even showed me how to watch his glucose levels and give him insulin. I was ready to do so. The next day, after 3 days of being hospitalized and “treated” we were told he was having kidney failure! How?! His kidneys were just fine the day before. We visited Duke every day, twice a day. On one visit in particular his eyes were filled with so much crust he could barely open them. He butt was covered in poop! The nurse brought him to me like this. The Doctors would change shifts and not say a word. I rarely ever got updates until we got Dr Moore and one other Dr that was helpful. Im sure Duke was over medicated. He went there not feeling the best and became a vegetable under their care. I’m hurt, angry and really wish I didn’t take him there. I was told I could come get him and that he more than likely wouldn’t make it over night. I’m glad I was able to pick him up and let him pass under my care, his safety net because the VCA failed him. Duke was with us from 4 weeks old til 11. I’ve never seen him the way I did after being there. Don’t go here.

My dog Sadie came here for an emergency visit over the weekend & had fantastic care, especially given such crazy circumstances with COVID-19. The vet, Dr. Willey, was patient and kind and thorough in our phone calls and her examination of my baby. Sadie had an exam, shot for nausea & bloodwork (the following day) performed here, & Dr. Willey was happy to explain how she was tackling discovering the problem & also was able to provide 3 different payment options as vet bills can obviously get expensive, & we want to make the best choices for our babies but also our wallets, where possible! Purely due to a personal friends recommendation, I moved her to a different hospital for the more extensive care she needed but I know it would have been amazing at Briarcliff, too. I even called to let Dr. Willey know what had happened, & she had already followed up with the second hospital. I am very thankful for the care at Briarcliff & ability to act quickly for such an emergent situation.

I made an appointment recently (2 weeks ago) and we are all dealing with COVID-19 so I wasn’t expecting usual service but upon arriving I called and spoke with someone at the front desk for clarity. I explained my reason for wanting to make an appointment, for Venus (my cats name). I told them about how she was due for her updated shots and about some concerns I’ve had about her since mingling with my roommates cat. Well at my appointment nothing was really addressed to me. All I was told was that she has a slight fever and that they didn’t see any signs of anything really wrong (which couldn’t be true because my cat was sick. It clearly showed) and they also didn’t give her any shots that day except one to bring down her fever. And antibiotics because “nothing is wrong with her but just in case” On the call with the vet before bringing her back out to me they said they would want to see her again in 2 weeks but no one made an attempt to even schedule a follow up and no one has followed up with me about her since. They took nearly $200 from me for nothing. I went because it was close to my Buckhead home but I’ve been to less popular clinics with much better service and care. I’m very disappointed. I don’t pay, especially in these times, to not get positive results. I will not be coming back here. If you love your animal reconsider bringing them here. My friend recommended her vet who have not lost their desire to still thoroughly care for animals.

The last strike was when Briarcliff Animal Clinic called me to ask how my pet was doing 24 hours after they euthanized her. Communication, setting proper expectations around when treatment is occurring, callbacks, and general note taking is abysmal at Briarcliff Animal Clinic.I spent ~$5,000 treating my pet over the course of 4 days with the understanding that my pet would be in great care. While I was not promised she would make it, I was told that treatment (medication, checking vitals, etc) would occur in 10-15 minutes after when I asked. In reality it would take up to an hour or more, which is concerning when they had told me my pet was listed in critical condition. I was told I would receive callbacks multiple times to help inform my decision on treatment or euthanasia which did not occur in a timely manner. I had to continuously reach out hours and occasionally days later to get the information I asked for, increasing costs and delaying treatment of my pet. I was told that information would be passed along to the right people (doctors to provide an update, offer options on treatment), only for me to have to call back and be provided excuses as to why something may not have occurred as it should. The lack of accountability by the administration team is not on par with a service that deals with life and death situations. After speaking in detail to their medical staff I believe Briarcliff did their job adequately treating my pet given the circumstances, but their administrative side is terrible. When time is of the essence, these administrative and clerical errors only add to costs and reduce the likelihood of your animal making a healthy recovery. I will not recommend Briarcliff Animal Clinic to anyone that needs emergency services, and would recommend going to Blue Pearl or The Ark.

I brought my Russian tortoise here earlier this week. He was in desperate need of a beak trim and nail trim. It was his first time to the vet since I got him and I was so nervous. I called ahead for a quote and the estimated cost was around $105 (including the exam and trimmings) but once i got there it ended up being around $140 because he needed to be sedated in order to trim his beak. A slight price jump, but very worth it. Cats and exotic animals have their very own entrance which is nice. We were greeted with awesome smiling faces and they treated Liam (my tortoise) like a celebrity. Dr.Fowler gave me some great tips to improve his enclosure and printed it off for me so I did not have to memorize it. They warned me that the sedation would take a couple days to fully wear off and get him back to normal. It has been a few days and he is doing great. Everyone was very respectful and helpful. I had a unexpected emergency visit with my dog a little over a week ago and this was the closest facility to my home so I took a chance since it was rated well. The staff was excellent and walked me through what to expect upon arrival as well as super caring with my animal and myself during check-in and getting him seen as soon as possible. Not only was I in and out of there in less than two hours but they were able to work with me on the cost for something that was quoted at almost $1,000.00 and I only ended up paying $340.00.I was updated often and My pup has had a full recovery so I will be back to follow up and hopefully have a long term vet office.

We brought our beloved chihuahua here for a while. It’s a money making operation first and foremost. While there are some good docs on staff it’s hit or miss. Our senior chihuahua had heart issues. We were told heart murmur and no medicine or directives were given. We were scolded about her weight so we tried to walk her more and watch her caloric intake. Turns out she was in congestive heart failure and we should NOT have been exercising her. We were told that the day she was having difficulty breathing and had fluid on her lungs. They took her in, supposedly gave her oxygen and a diuretic. We were handed back a very ill dog along with A $600 plus bill and she died three hours later. She had just been in three months prior with full xrays , blood work etc $1000 bill and no mention of congestive heart failure or any other issues other than possible Cushings onset. The visit itself was okay, but we came in for our cat’s possible intestinal blockage and they kept insisting he was a girl. Supposedly they even got three other vets and vet techs to check. I found out later they never even got his medical records from our previous vet in the first place, and they still claimed this cat was a girl and some staff were rude to us for calling him a boy cat even though he’s seen multiple vets before who never contested he was a boy.Took the cat to a different vet for shots today and confirmed yes, he is in fact a boy. They even showed me on the cat that without a shadow of a doubt he is a boy.Briarcliff seems nice on the surface, but the fact that so many of their staff couldn’t even do a simple thing as tell that my cat is male and that some of them were so rude and condescending about it makes me not trust their expertise, in addition to the fact that they never got his original medical records despite treating him for an emergency visit.

Fortunately I found the Briarcliff Animal Clinic. They have the best hours of any vet I have ever seen. They told me to come in right away. I made it within 30 minutes or so. They took my cat in to be checked right away. A short time later the doctor came to tell me what she recommended we do. She was very kind and considerate. She knew this was a stray and without me even asking she put together a plan that would be good for the cat but would also not cost me a small fortune. I was in and out in less than an hour. I am disappointed in this veterinary clinic. If your pet needs dental work, my recommendation would be to go elsewhere. Dr. Hayes was late to the appointment, causing me to wait well beyond my appointed time. To be fair, Dr. Hayes was pleasant and seemed knowledgeable. However, the cost that she quoted me as a preliminary estimate for the surgery was over twice the amount in the quoted estimates that I had received from 3 other veterinary clinics - nearly $1400. Additionally Dr. Hayes told me that there was a likelihood of an additional monies that I would have to pay, as much as $600-$800 that might be added on to my bill once the surgery was underway. They would have to call me once my dog was already asleep on the operating room table. To be clear, they were quoting me approximately $2000.I went to another reputable veterinary clinic a few miles away. I was able to have my dog competently evaluated and a reasonable price quoted for the surgery that totaled $750 --- thats $750 for the exact same services quoted at Briarcliff Animal Clinic for $2000.What I saw of the clinic facility, including the reception desk, the waiting room, the animal check-in area, and the consultation/examination room were all in real need of cleaning, painting, and general repair. The facility is dated and worn. It occurs to me that having the areas of the facility that were visible to the customer in need of such work begs the question of what their surgical suite might look like. Fundamentally, if they are not taking care of the facility you can see, what about the facility you cant see? The bottom line is that I misled about the pricing, and treated unprofessionally by both the veterinarian and the staff, in a facility that is dated and in disrepair. The price quoted to me for this surgery is 120% more than was necessary. I cannot recommend Briarcliff Animal Clinic.

Two things:First- I was told I’d be getting back test results for my cat, Zuma by 7am the next day. I arrived at 7:30pm the night before. These results were important to know what step to take next. He had a blocked urethra and was unable to pee. I never received them until two days later, and I had already taken my kitty to another vet who got me those same results within 2 hours. I never got a refund even after calling to say I already got these results from another vet. I couldn’t wait on Briarcliff’s lab for results because my cats bladder was completely blocked with crystals and he needed relief instantly. I called two different people at Briarcliff asking for even half a refund and they both told me “that’s not going to happen”. Never going back and telling everyone not to trust them with their babies.Second- The vet on duty gave me 2 options for pricing and treatment. The first was WAY too expensive ($4000) and included way too many steps that were definitely NOT needed. The second option was for $850 which included muscle relaxers and an antibiotic... that’s it!! The muscle relaxers did NOT work, so I took my cat to another location. The vets at the second location told me the antibiotic dose given by Briarcliff was way too small for how many crystals were in his bladder. It was a complete waste of my money and I will not be going back. ALL they care about is the money. Find somewhere else!

I was very nervous, but when I walked in everyone was so nice and welcoming and personable that my nerves immediately went away. My dog is very very protective of me, but they were never weary of him and were very patient. Once they took him out of the room (away from me), although still nervous, when he returned to the room his hives looked 100x better and was acting very comfortable there and with the Staff. When it came to payment, I wasnt sure what to expect. You never know with 24/7 vets because they can change their visit fee tremendously. But the fee for a visit was $85, plus the treatment my pup needed. It was not bad at all, and I could have easily paid much more for the emergency visit. Additionally, the entire visit took me at most 1 hour from entrance to payment. The waiting room was not too busy, so that had a little to do with the time also, but last time I was in a situation like this one it was at least an hour and a half for them to even tell me what was going on with my dog.Between the reasonable price, but even more importantly the AMAZING Staff that I encountered, are the reasons I gave this vet 5-stars. It was obvious she was injured and bleeding internally. Her ABD was swelling and she was having trouble breathing. We called animal control but they said it would take over an hour. We called over a dozen animal clinics and none of them would allow us to bring her in. Except Briarcliff Animal Clinic. They saw her immediately, did a CT and X-rays but were unable to save her. We LOVE Briarcliff Animal Clinic. We have two large dogs and Dr. Hedge is great with them. The staff is always friendly, they love our pets and although its not the most convenient location (based on where we live), we feel its worth the drive. The free vaccinations are super helpful too! I recommend them whenever I can!

I am a very big fan of Briarcliff Animal Clinic. Have been taking my dogs there for 20 years. It is the small things they do that are so appreciated. After my first dog died of cancer, I received a condolence card signed by virtually every member of the staff. Humans could not receive any more care and concern than their canine patients do.

This was my first visit to Briarcliff Animal Clinic and I must say I am very impressed. Everything from the separate cat and dog entrances/rooms, to the friendliness of the folks in the front office to the cleanliness in every part of the facility. Our visit with Dr. Fowler was nothing short of what I would want from my vet -- caring, professional and informative. He took the time to explain the possible causes for my fur childs ailments and proceeded with each test explaining with great care what he was doing. I am happy that my prior vet (who was fine, honestly) couldnt see my little guy. I inadvertently found our new doctor and cant recommend them enough.

Dr. Muller was the most amazing Vet today and I couldn’t be more grateful! He was so attentive, thorough, explained everything to me, assured me when I was about to have a panic attack, and especially, worked with me around my financial limitations to ensure we could assess and treat properly but also avoid hospitalization. The Techs are always so sweet as well. I had to put my other dog down last year at Briarcliffe and couldn’t ask for a more thoughtful team of Vets and Techs. Dr. Fowler was amazing throughout that horrific experience and Dr. Reid also was incredibly helpful yesterday when I took my baby in as an emergency patient. So grateful for Briarcliff Animalhospital!

Took my rescued/inherited cat to see them; Since it was a first visit, I had no idea how the cat would act. Well, they are indeed feline friendly, as she had no issue whatsoever. I felt they were up front with what they were doing and how much it would cost; a follow call was a pleasant surprise. Now if only the cat could understand why mom has to cut back on her food..... doc said she was a tad chubby!
