Took my car to them to do a very simple 5-10min fix on my exhaust until I weld a new one: they were very reasonable, understanding, and friendly throughout. After getting the fix done (which was quoted at an unholy $62 at another nearby tire shop), they said its on the house and that I didnt owe them a dime even after I asked them to take my money. These guys know how to run a business and Ill definitely be going to them in the future as theyve won my trust like no other shop in Athens has. I recommend giving them a shot!

Professional and courteous. Very knowledgeable and willing to extend their efforts and add to my pre arranged appointment to do additional work. That effort was greatly appreciated 👏.

I drop my car off for an oil change at 10 AM on September 12, 2021 they called and told me it was ready when I backed up to leave my exhaust was very loud. I stopped and asked what the noise was and the mechanic said it was making that noise when he put it in the garage, I know it wasn’t I just drove it 35 minutes to work. So now I paid $33 for an oil change and now I need to replace Exhaust because something got broke while they had my car in garage. I will never go back and I’m not very happy and I will be looking into getting this corrected

Came in from out of town and needed an oil change. It was Sunday morning and I had no problem getting it done. Friendly staff.

Great experience, highly recommend. I called about a rattling on the bottom of my car which I thought was due to the heat shield being loose. Tire Shield got me in the day I called and secured the rattling part free of charge. Would definitely go back!

When going in for brake work, after inspection I was quoted for pads and rotors at ~$1100. After saying I would go elsewhere my brakes were put together in worse condition and locked up. I took it to another location where I was told the work needed was overstated and was quoted for a thrid the cost. A ridiculous attempt to rob me blind.

Do not take your car here! I took my car in for an oil change and to have all 4 tires replaced. They told me it $29 for the oil change and would cost $110 per tire. When I went to pick up my car, they tried to charge me over $800. I asked how that was possible and the guy mumbled incoherently then lowered it to $685. He tried to justify an extra $186.38 in mount & balance fees they did not previously disclose. The cherry on top is that they only actually put on 3 new tires, even though I OVER paid for 4 tires. It is completely obvious that its still the old, bald tire. Even the brand name doesnt match the other 3 tires. They refused to acknowledge their mistake and kept insisting that someone must have stolen the new tire off the car. You know...because thieves are considerate and take the time to put the new tire on the same rim. I called their corporate office to advise them that their employee is stealing from them, and the CSR hung up on me. Trust me...take your car somewhere else!!

My sister had her car fixed here! At first it was great, they gave her a discount and were very friendly, but when she got onto the road after getting her car fixed, her tires came off. Apparently, they forgot to screw the lug nuts onto the tires. That was a nightmare that could’ve been easily fixed. After the incident we’ve spent over $500 fixing the issue. I will never go to one of these centers because of that. No one should have to go through what my sister did.

Wouldnt recommend. I needed an oil change and a tire rotation. I stayed while they did the service. I watched them call 4 other people telling them they needed extra work on their cars( i did not see the cars and have no clue on the accuracy).Now it comes to my car. They charge 60+ for a synthetic oil change(my fault for not having my oil pan and doing it myself for 25).Then they say they cant rotate my tires because it needs 600+ of work... i tell them thanks but no as Im gonna drive 800 miles, they say my car wont make it, they note it in the paper saying my car is not drivable.Once arriving at my preferred location (with no issues) i have an inspection done and a tire rotation done. They found zero problems.Take that as you will but i wont be going back.

My daughter came in towards closing time with a flat tire. She attends OU and was headed home for the weekend. They were able to fit her in and made sure she was able to safely drive home. Replaced all 4 tires in a timely fashion. Great service and couldn’t thank them enough for helping my daughter get on the road safely!

My car had zero issues other than needing an oil change my fiancee stopped here not knowing the horrible service they ask what oil change she wanted tried to push a high mileage change mind you my vehicle just hit 100k miles. They then proceed to tell her her car needed a full brake job and how bad her brakes were. The brakes were totally fine I have this car serviced very regularly at the same shop its entire life. And it had zero brake issues. Now the drivers front wheel has no pads in it? Interesting enough. So here I am buying a caliper rotor and pads that it did not need originally

Although very weary about coming to another Monro Muffler/Break location from previous experiences, I am glad to say this location is Athens is phenomenal. Great service, great people, and affordable prices. The employees were honest with me with my cars issues and helped me make the best and most important fixes with my car.

Absurdly over priced. Not only was I told one price over the phone and then charged almost twice as much when they did the job but they charge over 3 times the regular retail price for brake disks and rotors(yes I looked up the premium parts I was told they used)They tried to charge me over $700.00 for front and rear brakes and rear rotors on a basic Hyundai Sonata, at the end I was still screwed out of $481.48Bottom line a total rip off, I will refer to them as the absolute last place to go if you need anything done on your vehicle.

I just needed to get an oil change and like several other folks, I had a horrible experience. They had the car for roughly 2 hours (I could change the oil myself in less time) and hadnt called to update me at all. I dropped by to see what was going on and they told me that they were unable to change the oil due to some damage that apparently stopped them from being able to access the oil line. They also told me that the car was totaled with the amount of damage it had (as in the repair amount was higher than the car value). What is interesting is that after the car was there the AC stopped working. Moreover, they took my spouse and to see this apparent damage and there was lime colored liquid coming out of the AC line. Any reputable mechanic knows that the AC line is pressurized and freon will gush out of the line when it is broken--(if the line had been broken at a different time, it would only present with a small leak).Needless to say, we took our car to huddle (highly recommended) and to no surprise they were able to change our oil and we had to pay to get our AC fixed too since Monro (now called Tire Choice) broke it.DO NOT LET THESE FRAUDS TOUCH YOUR CAR.If you are curious why they have a high star rating, it is because they give people discounts to do so.

The guys at Monro Auto Service are so nice! I called, made an appointment and was taken care of right away when I showed up. They patched the hole in my tire in 30 minutes and even gave me the screw the keep!! If you are in Athens and need service on your car come here! Super convenient location on east state street!

I called ahead for a brake job and to have a seat belt replaced on my 94 Honda and was happy with the service..it ended up taking longer than expected and what I was told. The labor fee was higher than what was originally quoted... because of that. However, they were very friendly and I feel good in my car! I would definitely come back!

My daughter was stranded and, Adam the manager really worked with us to get her car fixed in an affordable and safe way! My daughter said while she was there another college student came in and he worked with that student too. As a parent to a college kid, I can never say thank you enough! We won a free oil change from the Athens store in a auction at the Federal Hocking High School Archery Team tournament! When I took my car in I was treated with respect and urgency. They gave prompt, excellent service and I would highly recommend them to everyone!

I have gone there twice now for simple oil changes and both times I’ve walked out completely satisfied. The workers are personable and are always trying to find coupons, deals, and other ways to help you out. This last time, the man at the front desk surprised me by fixing my exhaust leak on top of the oil change and said “Merry Christmas”. I am so thankful and will be sure to pay it forward. I went in with a couple of spark plugs and a coil in hand and asked if i could get these parts changed. The man at the counter was very kind and got me in and out within 30 minutes (despite me coming in at 7:30 am haha) and changed it for me free of charge. Fixed my issue and my car ran smoothly again. Im a delivery driver and I need my vehicle on a daily basis to complete my job. My car broke down during work and they were able to help me get it up and running within just a few hours and took me in on very short notice. Great place for college students to get their vehicle fixed promptly for a good price.

$50 for an oil change? And on top of that, they called me and said my brakes need replaced (just had them replaced 2 months prior). Definitely feel they try to take advantage of females/individuals who arent fully knowledgeable about cars. They are kinda friendly when I come there, however, so Ill give them that.

I received incredible service here. My car had been dying for months if I let it sit for more than one day, and I had taken it to three different places in Cincinnati that could not tell me what was wrong with it. The people at Monro not only figured it out, but worked after their closing time to fix it so that I could drive home. Danny and everyone else were so kind, I would definitely go here again and highly recommend it.

Came in for an oil change today, and the technician decided to give the vehicle a look over (I did not ask him to, nor did he asked to be paid for it. This was done out of consideration). They found that the right-front wheel bearing was broken, and my tire rods were in need of replacing. I have been to 2 separate shops and the dealer in the past 2 months trying to figure out the weird noise coming from the front of the car, and both shops were inconclusive. But Monro Auto Service was able to figure it out when I was simply coming in for an oil change. I was treated with blue-collar hospitality, and gave me their honest time and efforts. I a making a trip to-and-from Indianapolis this week, and am so thankful my car is that much safer to drive. Monro Auto Service has my business from here on out. Thank you Monro Auto Service.

They talk a good game on your first, but then try and up sell and rip you off for basic work that can be done for half the price down the street. I was very excited about this business, and now Im not going there for anything besides oil changes. $700 for two new tires and spark plugs that are actually good for another 50k miles? NO thanks!!

STAY AWAY FROM HERE!! I went here last August to get a compressor replaced because it was the only shop open. Charged high but I let it go. Went back today to get a quote on a replacement of the two front brakes of my Ford fiesta and they said $600!! He then said Just so you know, if we take off the two front tires and it look unsafe to us we cannot let you leave without getting the car towed because if you left and got in a wreck it would come back on me. Bull F**king S**t. If I want to leave in MY car I can. It would not come back on them either because I would have willingly decided to leave. After this shocking interaction I went outside and called the Firestone complete auto across the street. Lady on the phone was extremely nice. Got a free break and tire inspection AND their price was HALF of Monros. They did the break job in the 30 min and showed me everything along the way. I am completely shocked that Monro auto still gets customers. Horrible prices and service and BS rules. They have surely lost my business and I will be sure to let my friends and family know how shady this place is. DO NOT GO HERE. THEY WILL TRY TO RIP YOU OFF.Edit- Tried calling customer support number multiple time earlier this week but no one answered. Left a message but never got a response. It is clear based on the various other reviews speaking on the dishonesty of your establishment that this is not an issue you actually care about or want to fix. I true shame you try to take advantage of your customers.

Great place for car maintenance!

I’m a student at OU and yesterday I went here just for an oil change. They did take a long time and while I was waiting they called me to tell me multiple things were wrong with my car. But since I have a 4 hour drive today I asked if it was potentially dangerous to drive my car that far they said yes I should get the ball joint fixed among a few other things. All of this would add up to over $1000!!!! There’s no way I’m paying that here. Turns out it’s not even badly screwed up and I’m perfectly fine driving home today. Of course. I’m a college girl and they tried to take advantage of me and my lack of knowledge of cars. ALWAYS get a second opinion on fixing something on your car!!! You could easily get ripped off!!!

We had a nail in our tire. We went to 2 other places that said they didn’t have time to fix the tire. So we went to Monroe and we were out in less than an hour. The service was great, the guys were friendly, and the price was fair.

My family and I were on vacation and needed some emergency work done on our vehicle to travel back home. We called everywhere local to where we were staying and no one would help us. Monroe told us to come in and could help us out even though they were really busy. They helped us get home safe!

They saw me right away, helped me out very quickly, and didnt charge me a thing! My car was making a horrible metal-on-metal noise and I assumed something major had gone wrong, so I dropped it off and went back to work to await the bad news. Turned out it was minor and they had it fixed in 3 minutes. The point is they could have charged me hundreds of dollars and Id have gladly paid it, but they didnt. How refreshing to receive such great customer service.

Adam was very generous and thoughtful. He helped me out a lot with the repair of my car. The company is amazing when it comes to repair and are always willing to help with the price. Very satisfied!

This giant company with many locations has appeared to me to not care one bit about me, a half unsuspecting customer as I was unfortunate to try them out. I may have mistakenly supposed Muffler shop meant Exhaust repair, and the cynical joke was on me. I went to have an exhaust leak assessed and hopefully repaired as was implied by the conversations I had with them twice, once on the phone and then when I arrived. Because they said they could look at it that day and I was Im a hurry I was hoping for a much needed affordable service. Instead of fixing the leak they said all they could do is replace both of my catalytic converters and all the pipes connected to them and it would cost $1000 dollars!! No they didnt have the parts on hand but could get them in two days I limped along for another week with loud exhaust until I could get a chance to take it to a local muffler shop called Muffler Man located on Columbus Road who fixed the leak for $75 in under an hour with just a new flange and small piece of pipe bolted and welded in. I am outraged by the con artistry of this giant corporation. Shame on them. When they tried to extort me the counter help was sheepish and wouldnt look me in the eye. I am a fourty-two year old father. I have an associate degree in automotives and I am a professional mechanic, electrician, roofer, and carpenter to name a few. At Monroe we believe they make an honest living. They must focus on ethics with consistent determination. They must add value to our community by always providing excellent service to ALL their customers and help find equally reliability ethical and value adding alternative auto service providers when required by the circumstances. This being accomplished by excellent technical and personal expertise.Since I first posted the above subject the the (Owner) in some capacity, has replied.In reply to the Owner of this branch to their reply to me: I will hold you accountable for your actions and decisions and performance. Leadership only succeeds by providing good example. Your corporation leaders provide you this good example as does the rest of the honest and good industry. Danny and Edgel are hands down the best mechanics you can get. Very genuine people with a heart to help people. Its time for people to stop overcharging and not showing people the problem. For anyone seeing this. Always do your research and have knowledge about cars. These guys are the best and would highly recommend!

Highly dishonest and will try to take advantage of you if you let them! Back in August, my car was overheating and I needed to travel the next day. I was quoted $800 for a coolant flush and to change my thermostat and a bunch of other things they were going to do to fix the problem. The most insane part was that the manager told me that a mouse had been nesting in my engine and had chewed on my spark plug.I went somewhere else and they couldnt find anything wrong...certainly no chewed spark plug. Just topping up my coolant fixed the problem so I could travel. I eventually got a coolant flush and also had my thermostat changed for under $200 at a different Monroe Muffler.Dont let them con you! Get a second opinion before you give these guys your money for anything more than an oil change (although I wouldnt count on them doing it right). I once had a tire rotation done with my oil change and they broke off one of my wheel studs, then tried to blame it on me.

I went in today to have some issues with my car looked at and I had a lovely experience. They made sure to do everything possible to make the repairs inexpensive and quick. It seemed like they really care about their customers. Terry and Alex were extremely personable and kind. Additonally, they weren’t condecsending when I didn’t understand something, which is not a normal occurrence when I go into a repair shop. I would 100% recommend them!

I was here from 9am to 5pm on March 18, 2018. I was to have a pitman arm, idler arm and ball joint replaced. Sometime in the afternoon, a car that had been in the shop 30 minutes earlier, returned on the back of a tow truck. It had BURNT to a crisp. It caught on fire as they were driving down the road. I obviously was a little concerned at this point because my vehicle was still up on the racks, so I tried to not to show much reaction to the drama. When my vehicle was finally finished, the employee asked me if I was paying cash and I said yes. I was charged $321 and stupidly was not given a receipt. Once I started driving it, I could here metal clanging in the front end, but they were already closed by this time. I was FINALLY able to get my vehicle in to another mechanic today because i Refuse To return here. The idler arm was missing one bolt and the other was so loose, they dont understand how I didnt wreck. By the Grace of God, my 6 children and I are fine, but this couldve ended very devastatingly. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE! Yes, the employees were kind to me, yes, they were cheaply priced, but NO DISCOUNT IS WORTH MY CHILDRENS LIVES!! PLEASE PAY THE EXTRA MONEY AND GET IT DONE RIGHT.*****************UPDATE!!!**********************Please everyone, do not EVER take a vehicle to Monro Muffler ANYWHERE. They have screwed me over beyond belief. I made a former complaint to the corporate office and the record they have of the work I had done does not match the work that was actually done on my vehicle. Their only explanation was that apparently some of their employees are doing side work and using the garage therefore, they are not able to compensate me for the $321 worth of work I had completed. If I can come up with the money to have this newest revelation fixed and the 2 new tires (just purchased in March) replaced then i will have paid $450 extra to fix all of their mistakes. I AM SO SICK OVER THIS! PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE! THEY WILL SCREW YOU OVER AND SIT BACK AND LAUGH ABOUT IT! Brian, or Bryan, the manager of Monros in Athens, Ohio was very rude to me when I took my car for an air conditioning recharge. He told me it would only take about 40 minutes, then it turned into an hour and 40 minutes. While I was there, he only worked on my car for about ten minutes overall, and kept coming inside and trying to flirt with me, saying inappropriate things to other customers, and all the while nobody was working on my car. Finally, I told him I had to leave because I had to be somewhere and he continued to delay me and told me my charges were around $150, but he couldnt fix my ac. Then he told me I could hang around for a few more hours and he could MAYBE fix it, but it would cost $200 more at the least. I was furious and said just let me pay and leave, but he then started yelling at me in the store in front of other customers where I then told him how inappropriate his words were, how UNPROFESSIONAL he is, and how I would never come back. He then replied to me, Well dont come back because we dont want your business anyway. Ive never been so disrespected before and I did not appreciate him ripping me off for whatever reason, whether it was me being a graduate student in college, being a girl, or being younger, but I dont appreciate a MANAGER of a business talking degrading to me or talking about going to get drugs while Im waiting there to get my car fixed...what he SHOULD HAVE been doing INSTEAD of all that.Something else... I took my car to another mechanic to get the air condition checked out and they told me that the last person to touch my car (Brian) took the guard off under my hood, didnt put it back on, lost all of my screws for it except for one, and broke a connection. Im very upset and aggravated with not only his elementary mechanic work, but also his unprofessional behaviors that Im also reporting a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. Nobody should have to deal with a person like him and get ripped off hundreds of dollars from this company.

Do not take your car here for an oil change. You will walk out with either new brakes or they will happen to find something else wrong with your car. Always get a second opinion.

It seems like every time I go to get an oil change at Monro, they find an extensive repair that has to be done on the spot. I took my car in last week for an oil change and one of the mechanics swore my rotors and brake pads were so worn down they were going to “cut me a deal” if I took care of it that. Got a second opinion from Tim at TB Auto (highly recommend) and he said my brake pads were maybe a 1/4 of a way run through and the rotors were in great shape. He promised me I had at least a year before I needed to even think about new brakes. The guys at Monro work for commission, always get a second opinion before you say yes to any of the repairs they think is “urgent.”

I had such a smooth experience with Adam and everyone else here! They were extremely helpful, especially for someone like me who knows close to nothing about cars! I would definitely recommend this place to any one and everyone!!!

This is one of those places that get a one star only because there is no 0 stars to give. We only went here because Walmart was a 2hr wait and we had plans for that day.1) we walked in at the same time as another woman from another culture. We were getting the same thing done. Basic oil and a tire rotation. Well they get her finished before us. She goes to pay and they tell her it is $90. She ask why is it so much and they said oh because your car can only have synthetic. should they not have told her before putting it in? They also said they gave her a $30 discount. Why is a oil change and tire rotation $110? Oh plus they charged her for a balance they did when she didnt even ask for one.2)As for us, our total for the same thing came to around $60(no discount). Which they also charged us for a balance we said we did not want. Put in a different grade of oil than we asked for. Then they rotated our tires, they put the tires with the lowest amount of tread on the back if a vehicle with a rear-wheel drive. Just in time for Christmas, I guess. Not to mention now our vehicle pulls to the left. The entire time he kept asking us if we wanted to buy tires. I get it for job is to push product, but after 5 times of us saying no. Please understand we do not want to purchase tires from you.Please do not take your vehicles here. It is not worth it.

I recently bought all new tires at Huddle in Richland Ave and within 2 months, all 4 had been popped by teeny Rocks. I got them all patched at various shops around town and none of them lasted long at all. Today my tire started leaking very badly and I took the car down to Monroe to get fixed. Service was excellent, and they got me in immediately. They’re the only place open on sundays!!! I’m very appreciative of the crew here. 5 stars for sure.

Very friendly and helpful. These guys work hard! They check my tires and pressure, check and fill my fluids fill them with fluids I purchased other stores, and even put my van back on rollers for no charge!

We were told we could get in for an alignment at 2 the next day since they didnt have time when we stopped in. The manager didnt even put us on the schedule and was clueless when we got there but said he could work it in. An hour later our car was finally pulled in. The alignment wasnt done due to them saying my car needed $600-$800 worth of front end work. My husband is a mechanic but hurt right now or he would have just done the work. We got it home he looked at it and it ended up needing $100 in work nothing as extensive as what they told us it needed. Needless to say we will not be going back. I really hope they dont try to take advantage of everybody and Im glad my husband knows what he is doing and we werent taken advantage of.

They claim to have fired the guy who lied to and robbed me, I dont really believe them. I paid for an alignment which they just didnt do, they told me that my pitman arm bushing was missing when thats not even a part that my vehicle has then they told me I need $1000 service that I dont need. Them not doing the alignment caused my new tires to wear excessively and unevenly. No money back no apology no attempt to make it right

DO NOT BRING YOUR VEHICLE HERE THEY WILL SCAM YOU!!Went in three weeks ago to get a squealing that sounded like it was coming from my brakes checked out. They had replaced my rotors and brake pads close to a year ago. They told me the noise was coming from my stabilizer links and struts and they needed to be replaced. I picked up my car after they had replaced the struts and links and the same noise was still coming from my vehicle. This shows that they never even tried to find out the source of the squealing they just wanted to sell me new parts that I probably didnt even need. I filed a claim with customer service to try and get my money back and was given the run around and denied because I couldnt prove I didnt need the service they provided. They are also using a shady business practice of giving discounts on oil changes if you give them 5 stars on google. This place is terrible and I would avoid it at all costs!!!!

They are open on the weekends, which a lot of shops aren’t so this is a big plus. I came in as a walk-in to see if they had time to fix the muffler that fell off on my way to work. Quickly got me in and fixed my car!!

Too many people Ive talked to about this place says they will rip you off. While I was at huddle tore the other day I overheard two people explaining how rude the manager was. One lady said she went in for an inexpensive oil change and all of a sudden they started talking about her brake fluid and transmission fluid was bad and needed changed. She said her thirty dollar oil change ended up being over 250 dollars. The other lady asked her how many miles was on her vehicle she responded with around 40 some thousand. The lady found out her transmission fluid was only half life when they upsaled her into it. The one lady said they tried that on her yet she just had it done 6 months back at Monro. She went on to say the worker returned and said her front brakes needed replaced. I guess the lady asked if her had done the oil change yet. When he responded no he was still inspecting it she told him to stop what he was doing. I guess her son already changed the brakes and rotors a month prior. The tech became upset and asked her if her son was a certified mechanic like him. She didnt have nothing to say other than she wanted her car back. I guess the tech started cussing as he went and got the car. To find out later her son is 40 and is an over the road truck driver that works on semis. This place seems really shady when it comes to business. It seems like they try to take advantage of women. This is a disgusting business practice.

Have taken my past and current vehicle here and theyve always been super helpful and reasonable as far as small and larger issues go :)

If I could give 0 stars I would. Asked for tire rotation and oil change, only got an oil change. I asked the mechanic who took my car down, hey, did you rotate the tires? He responds with, sure did! They didnt rotate the tires because I marked them and they were never touched. I will never be back. I can see forgetting to do something but not blatantly lying to a customers face. Take your car somewhere else if at all possible.

These guys are awesome, best shop I have ever been to hands down. They are so understanding and cooperative, willing to do whatever is necessary to get things fixed. I will for sure be back for any servicing I need in the future.

Great owner and service! I went in with my girlfriend and we were so worried that because we didn’t know what the problem with her brakes was, that they’d overcharge and do things that didn’t need to happen. But in stead, it ended up being a much bigger problem than we had expected and they treated us so well! The price was cut in half when we came back! Definitely go here.

Came in for and oil change without an appointment they got it done quick and told me a few more things that needed done. Will definitely return

Walked in and out with new brakes and rotors in about an hour and a half. Prices were pretty consistent with other rates I saw online. Manager Adam was a nice and personable guy.

I had a great experience with Monro in Athens. I was stuck between a rock and a hard place and they really stepped up to the plate and helped me out! They treated me and my Chrysler very well.

Was here today because I have had good experiences in other Monro Mufflers. Towed my car there in the morning because it was stalling so it was undrivable. Was waiting to hear from them the problem but instead they called when work was complete for a bill totaling $600. Normal mechanics call the person to let them know what the problem is and what cost will be before doing that much repair work. Then when I went in to explain my frustration to manager he made it seem like he was doing me a huge favor by knocking some money off my bill. Common decency would be nice and I will definitely not be returning here.

Adam the manager lies about whats wrong with the car so they can make more money, or offer scrap price for the car. He allows all of his employers to smoke and do drugs and drink on the job making our (customers) cars smell like weed. Very poor and does sloppy work. Only ask for Sean and Mike when you take your vehicle there theyre the only trustworthy people there.

Shawn was very helpful and informative about my tires, and I’ll definitely come back for him to help me out next time!
