Very friendly service. A good car that matched our request and needs.. Sadly a mounted car tire had a very large nail that had been there some time in it that we discovered on the morning after our pickup. Another Hertz location helped us get the spare mounted and after that all went well. The reason for the 5 is the good service recovery on a tricky situation

Very friendly staff, and they upgraded me (Five Star) to a Jeep Wrangler, which was very fun. One set back was that I booked direct through Hertz using my normal CDP, and when I got to the counter, they wanted to charge more than 5x the rental cost. I was able to find my confirmation in the app, and they fixed it for me, but if I wasnt paying attention, I would have paid much more than I planned.

The staff was able to help me and explained costs thoroughly. Even though Asheville was having gas shortage during my trip, they were understanding and were not surcharging or adding any extra fees. They even upgraded me to a Dodge Charge from Chevy Spark - that was a nice surprise!

The car was nice and the service was good. But charging $107.91 for an additional driver is not justified and is excessive. You should review your policy since there is no additional cost to you to add second driver and this is just additional profit for you.

I made a reservation months in advance and I was called one hour before my pickup time and informed that there was no car available for me and that it was very unlikely that they would get one for me that day or the next day. He was unable to explain why there was no car despite my reservation but did say that there were over a dozen other people that also had reservations that they had no car for. While he was apologetic, he made no effort to connect me with a car from any other agency. Very unlikely to ever use Hertz again because the reservations seemingly do not mean anything.

I would have given them more stars if it were not for the fact that I reserved a SUV over 3 weeks prior to my trip and when I got there they gave me a Dodge Charger. The girl behind the counter handed me my keys and never said a word about it not being a SUV. I had to go back and ask and then was given the lame excuse of none of the SUVs were clean. I do not consider a Dodge Charger an upgrade even if they do.Other than that they were easy to work with and easy to return at the end of the trip.

Always reliable, quick, and while they didnt have our car ready, they did not even hesitate to upgrade us. Staff person was a little transactional and not very customer service personality, but it is an airport and glad I could just get out quickly. Return was simple too.

Here is the truly awful experience I had with the Hertz franchisee on Patton Avenue in Ashville NC.I am a retiree from a large company that has negotiated a large discount from Hertz for both employees and retireesI stopped at the Hertz franchisee to reserve a car and made it clear that I expected the discounted rate. They spent ten minutes entering my info and offered me a reservation at the full price. I repeated my request for the discounted rate and NOW the said that they could not enter the discount and that I would have to do it online.Well, I did what they said and reserved a small car. When I came for my car I was told that the only vehicle was a RAM 1500. I accepted it because the clerk agreed to call me when a small car was available. Four hours later I called and was told that there was no car and that they would call me. Of course, this never happened.Bottom-line, my wife and I spent four days with an oversized gas guzzeler that was dangerous for me to drive and very difficult to park. We both have heart and back problems so just getting in and out was a challenge.

Our Asheville trip was great. We were upgraded to a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon vs our compact sedan that I reserved. The older gentleman with a white beard helped us out at the Hertz counter inside the airport. He was very courteous and professional. Thought we’d be in trouble when our flight home was cancelled and we had to stay an extra day given the current nationwide rental car shortage. The same gentleman not only allowed me to keep the Jeep another day, when all was said and done it ended up being CHEAPER than the price I paid so I was REFUNDED the difference. I wasn’t complaining and that prompted me to write an excellent review. The return process was extremely easy as well, something you don’t see anymore at large int’l airports. Thank you for the great customer service!!!!!!!

Was worried there might be a shortage so booked a month in advance. When we got there the car was waiting. The car was clean and much nicer than I anticipated. Car ran well and was reliable--it was a 2021. Had a good time sightseeing the Blue Ridge Mountains in it. No complaints, just praise.

Hertz did a fine job of having a car for us and explaining all the details and paperwork with the car. We did have a problem with the vehicle on our trip and making contact with Hertz assistance to get help with the problem was not very helpful. Lots of hoops to go through to try to get an actual person to talk to. Overall, it was a solid 4 star rating.

We were given a reservation for an insurance rental after an accident. At first they said they have a car that night or the next morning. Then we called again and were told that cars were being returned this afternoon.When we called again and spoke to the manager he said we were 15th in line. After talking to him a bit he said he couldnt remember the last time he honored an insurance rental. That they put them last on the list. Basically only renting to cash up front customers.This Company is terrible! If you are giving them your money. I recently rented a car from Hertz when visiting NC. I think everyone who came in at the same time as me was given a Dodge Charger, a real vroom-vroom car. Im 72 years old and I figured the Highway Patrol would be on the lookout for just this type of car, so I definitely followed the speed limits! I felt fortunate that I wasnt given the red Charger in the next stall - they really would have stood out!

I had the opportunity to rent 2 vehicles from the AVL airport, 2 weeks apart. My first experience was with Avis-- the line was soooo long, and they did not have adequate staffing. As a result I had to wait over an hour to get my car, and then it was not clean. There was literally a water bottle full of yellow liquid under the driver seat. Avis said theyd give me a $52 credit for my trouble, but its been a month and Ive not seen that money back.However, my 2nd rental with Hertz was great. The line moved quickly, Tucker was friendly and helpful, and my car was sparkling clean. I highly recommend choosing the Hertz counter at AVL.

It appears the staff dont always pick up the phone ( then call goes directly to a full voicemail). But if u keep trying n reach them, they are helpful. I wasnt able to get the car i initially wanted as the keys were not delivered after cleaning, so i got another one of my choice. Luckily i live near and the next day switched it back to original car booked...all worked out but there were struggles. Nice car; conveniently located.

Our car was ready and waiting for us, the staff was kind and knowledgeable, I love the buy the gas in advance plan so you dont have to hunt for gas before you return your vehicle. The vehicle was clean and ran well and I enjoyed driving it for the week we spent exploring Brevard and Ashville.

They were not friendly or helpful ! I was in a accident May 4th with my Grandson, two years old. It was not our fault. The other person insurance was paying for rental. Their agent set it up got the reservation. We drove to Ashville NC from Bakersville NC The lady was very rude, wouldnt let me pay $50 deposit with my debit unemployment card or with cash. Had all my information the insurance company paying for it. Sent back without a car.I ask speak to manager, she said I am manager.. so rude

Even though we arrived two hours early Hertz had our car for us. The Chrysler 300S was quite a surprise! Both pickup and return went smoothly. At one point I thought I would need a ride after returning the car. The staff was more than happy to do so. Couldnt ask for more!

Christie rented me a car with a horrible smell of smoke. I called the next day to exchange it and was told there was one last car and they would hold it for me if I could get there between 12 - 6pm. I showed up at 12:30pm and they had already gave my car away. They sprayed some cheap air freshener in it so it smelled like smoke and freshener. Thankfully that wore off in a day and it ust smelled like like smoke for a whole week. Here is a pic of their cleaning products. I told them I was allergic to smoke but was still told they couldnt do anything. When it was raining I tried to air it out but to no avail. They probably pocket the $250 smokers fee and clean the car with with the things in my picture.

Wow, where do I begin. Without making this a very long review, I cant help but be so thankful to this location and specifically a lady named Christy. So I spent all day trying to call all rental car locations in the Asheville/Hendersonville area and this was the only place to answer the phone. According to all the online portals used to check vehicle availability they were also the only ones with a car available immediately for a 1 way trip. At around $100 with unlimited mileage, even if they werent the only option they still would be my pick. Christy made everything so painless when I had some issues the next day when my return time came and I was late. Definitely recommend them and to whom it may concern, Christy deserves a raise! She earned a customer for life that day. Thank you

DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS. My insurance company called in a rental to this agency after a minor car accident. After getting a lyft to this place and showing my license and credit card they attempted to scan my license, which is valid until 2023, they said they were unable to scan my license, and therefore could not rent me the car. They said they werent able to manually enter my license information and that they couldnt do anything else to help me. My girlfriend offered to scan her more-recent license and we were told that she couldnt scan the license for the insurance account, and on top of that she would not even be able to rent a car ON HER OWN because she was in the same party and could be attempting to make a fraudulent transaction. The woman working the desk was blank, uncaring, flat-affected, and had obviously had her soul crushed by having to work for such a byzantine and reprehensible company. I will NEVER rent from Hertz again, I hope they go under. Just do yourself a favor and go across the street to Enterprise: they were friendly, helpful, worked with my insurance company, and had me in a car in 10 minutes. DO NOT RENT FROM HERTZ.

We booked a mid size car but there were only large pickup trucks when we arrived. We were told the trucks haven’t been cleaned because the car wash is broken. Unfortunately, I cannot get through at all on the phone to confirm if they have smaller cars back in stock. The mailbox is full and no one is answering.

I was charged a lot extra for LOSS DAMAGE WAIVER when the clerk called my insurance company (Geico) and she was told that my policy does not cover rental cars. I just confirmed today that it does, and i thought I was when I asked the clerk to double-checked. Geico told me that Hertz had no business to charge me full insurance when I was already covered and my deductible is high. I also called customer service and they said they had no record of this car ever being picked up. SO which is it? The fact that I reserved an economy car, promised a price, and when I got there it was a DODGE RAM, and I had to pay twice as much. Nickel and dime me. Thanks for nothing Christie.

Do not go here! Chrissy there rented me a car with expired tags. When I called to exchange it, she said to fill it up then they will exchange. I told her that I have to hurry for work. I got there and no car ready. Then she told me that she wouldnt rent me a car. I dont think they had any to rent. I was left out in the cold, no car and all of my stuff on the side walk. Did I mention I had a broken leg. No empathy and terrible customer service by Chrissy and Hertz. After setting there for 2.5 hrs I ended up going to Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

Tried to make me pay for damages that were already there. The female employee wearing the THRIFTY jacket ( this is hertz) was rude and needs an attitude check. I rent vehicles pretty often and I always use this Hertz location. I have been very pleased with the prompt, courteous service. The vehicles are just fine. And they have even stayed late to accept my after hours return. The last time I was there I had to return the car a day late and they didnt even charge extra. RECOMMENDED!

Weird thought I rated once but maybe not, I had an extremely incredible experience, Kristie helped out in huge ways to get me in a car last minute from an accident issue, she went above and beyond, someone drove me home after turning rental in and I lived way out in no mans land. They even saved me from my insurance rejection car rental that left me stranded. Only rental place that covered me during a cc problem that occured that I didnt know had happened until days later, but this place was a real life saver for me. I cant say enough positive for what this company did at a very difficult time and shocked by other reviews here.

Rented a minivan for a golf trip to Florida. Pick up was fast and efficient. Car was clean. Renting from this Hertz location rather than the airport saves you money as you dont have to pay the airport facility fees.

Office was fine, clean, same as any Ive ever been in. Got a fantastic deal and a car that was perfect for my trip. I plan on using them again.

The people there were very courteous, and professional. And I needed a four-wheel drive truck. So, they put me in a brand new four-wheel drive Dodge ram with a hemi 1500 engine. It was so nice I was afraid to get it dirty. LOL. It was a lot nicer than the one I had being worked on in the shop. And the staff was very pleasant to work with. All-in-all I have a very good experience. And I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Horrible customer service from this location and poor business practices.I will not rent from this location again and strongly encourage others to find other locations to do business with. Be careful here or youll be the next victim and who knows what they will accuse you of and charge you with.I reserved a mid-sized car for a trip out of town. When I picked up the rental, I was told that the style car I reserved was not available, even though I saw a vehicle matching that style on the lot. I was put in a full-size rental with a gas guzzling Hemi engine and the vehicle had been smoked in and was not clean. The employee who rented only verified the full tank of gas, gave me the key and sent me on my way, never even completed an inspection of the vehicle at check-out. I had to clean and sanitize the vehicle myself before leaving town and spray Lysol in it several times while gone to deal with the smoke smell.Upon return home and returning the vehicle, which was after-hours (and was never told by Christy when I rented the car that it has to be done at the Airport location because the Patton location doesnt have a drop box) so I had to drive out of the way late in the evening to meet the deadline for a return. I saw a few days later that I had a $250 unexpected charge on my credit card. I spent over an hour on the phone with Hertz 800# only to be told they cant access this sites records due to a separate billing system of the local franchise. I tried for over an hour to call the Patton office, no answering of the phone, and no voicemail set up, so I had to go in person to get an answer. Christy said I was charged for smoking in the vehicle and went further to make an additional accusation that it reeked of marijuana. Only when I demanded the contact information for the franchise owner and manager of the Airport location where rental was returned (and supposedly reported as being smoked in) did she reluctantly agree to remove the charge. Christy also reluctantly gave me the contact information as requested. I immediately drove out to the Airport location to inquire with that manager about the smoking accusation only to be told that she had just been texting with the lady at the Patton location and they remembered that it wasnt me that should be charged which I find very interesting that all of a sudden the story is changing. The rest of the evening and even this morning until writing this review I have yet to receive a phone call or apology from the supervisor Christy at the Patton location.In looking at older reviews of this location, this is a common practice of this location to slack off in cleaning vehicles, accuse customers of smoking in vehicles and unjustly charge customers. I also was able to get hold of an actual receipt from Hertz corporate that shows an actual charge entry to my account that shows outside washing- $250 so the staff cant even get their stories straight when dealing with customers.

I was extremely dissatisfied with my experience with Hertz on Patton Ave. First of all, I was in an accident and hit by another driver. I drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee, it was not my fault and I was told I had to go to this Hertz due to the responsible parties insurance. They did not have enough staff working and the poor woman at the desk was covered up while the other woman in the office sat over at a desk and picked at her eye during a pandemic with no mask and no gloves. The woman who was assisting me tried to scan several keys which kept scanning as out of service. She finally found a key that worked and it was to a Ford Fiesta. It was extremely dirty and I am sorry, not at all comparable to my Grand Cherokee. My Sons car seat would not even fit in the back of the Ford Fiesta. I was in tears as I was trying to figure out how to feel safe driving in a match box car down I-26. I even asked before getting into the car, Why this car, I dont understand as I drive a Jeep. The woman previously picking her eye in the corner began walking away stating, This is what your insurance will pay for. I am sorry, but this is terrible customer service. I called State Farm who stated my reservation clearly stated that I needed an SUV. The woman at State Farm was so sweet and said she would correct my reservation and upgrade it so that I would get a comparable vehicle to my own that was involved in an accident. I go back into the Hertz office and explain this to the woman working the desk. Who explained that my daily rate was bumped up from $20 to $24 and they do not have SUVs. I was a bit in shock, as now a days, everyone has SUVs. I explained my Sons car seat would not fit in the back of the Ford Fiesta and for someone who was just hit by another driver 2 days prior, I felt very unsafe in the Ford Fiesta. The woman stated the biggest thing they had was a Nissan Sentra. I reluctantly agreed as what was I suppose to do? I had to go to work and the process had already taken longer than necessary due to inadequate staffing. The staff , outside of the woman working the desk were completely unprofessional. Based on the condition of the cars it does not appear that they care about their jobs or reputation. I do not understand how a rental company who has contracts with insurance companies is not better prepared for customers like myself who are only there due to being involved in an accident and need a car while our vehicles are being repaired. It was traumatic enough to be in an accident, that was not my fault and all that it entails, much less be treated by the rental car company who should be there to help, like I was a burden and not given a comparable vehicle. I am very surprised this location is still in business and I will not be recommending them to anyone. I will definitely be telling State Farm about my experience and that they should reconsider their partnership with this location as it reflects poorly on them and their business decisions.

Don’t expect Hertz Corporate to resolve any issue you have with this franchise location, and chances are you will have issues with either car not available, different car than what you asked for, billing, location not open during its posted hours, gas not full or unclean car. I have had each of these experiences over several years, but this is the first time I felt moved to leave a rating after trying for the past 4 weeks to get Hertz Corporate to help me find a way to provide feedback which could lead to improvements. Since I am required to use Hertz for work rentals, I will try different locations outside of Asheville along my route, and only those with review averages greater than 4.0, as I also strongly advocate to my company to negotiate their next car rental provider to be someone else next time.

Dont be like me and ignore the low ratings. Booked a day in advance only for the cashier to check my insurance 5 minutes before I was due to pick up the car. Turned out i couldnt get a car because of a small issue I could have solved with the insurance company, except that it has to be done 24 hours in advance. Why didnt they check the insurance when I booked the car? I was there in person. Go elsewhere if you care about your plans.

I try to never write negative reviews, but this was a horrible experience with Hertz. My boyfriend just got back from Afghanistan, and we couldnt rent a car from them and went through 2 hours of the following:1. Robbie, from customer service, was very rude and had a guilty until proven innocent attitude.2. After jumping through all their hoops, we had to go back to the bank to get a new cashier check with a different name. (Due to not trained staff making this clear)3. After returning a second time, we were told that because we were using a debit card they needed a 24 hour reservation. They knew we were paying with a debit card all along. No apologies received. We left with no car rented.4. Why do they need to check my credit to rent a car?5. The owner did offer to make us a reservation with Enterprise across the street. But we were sent by Robbie to the wrong Enterprise location.Terrible way to start a vacation.

When I came to pick up my economy car, they only had 2 SUVs ready for rental. But the woman behind the desk was able to speedily process a Kia for me. I think they seem to have some management issues at this branch, but I was still very satisfied with my rental.

Very nice people very easy to work with and they were very understanding with our problem we had broke down with our vehicle unlike Fields Dodge dealer I dont remember anybody to go there their rip-offs they tried to put parts in my truck that werent even in there and then he got mad when I proved it to him wrong

Im not sure why this office is getting 1.8 Stars but Christy was excellent with customer service. She explained everything in detail about the process. I got a very nice jeep to have while my vehicle is being fixed. The office was clean and temp was cool as well.

This would have been 5 stars had I not been sent a Blow and Go Lyft driver on Meth to pick me up at the collision center and bring my to the Hertz office. That was terrifying. Not sure if this is the problem of Hertz or Lfyt but no one is checking these people out enough. Meth, alcohol and Lyft..........SCARY!!!I know I will never call Lyft for a ride, but I will use Hertz again - only if i do not require a Lyft to their office. I still feel like I can only rate 3 stars here because I feel Hertz needs to be more aware of who they are partnering with and if that company considers the safety of the customers and community.

Christy Hyatt has always been very gracious and accommodating. The cars have always been incredibly clean and in great mechanical condition. I previously rented from a Hertz at the airport; however, the Patton location is closer to my home. I have always had a good experience renting from Christy and her team!

I have been satisfied with rentals from this Hertz location since 1999. Unfortunately, since both this location and the Asheville Airport location have become franchised they no longer honor corporate account terms. I dont see how we can use their services in the future with the new restrictions. Thankfully an employee was able to rectify a $577 charge to my account for a corporate rental that I was told would be $129 total. Apparently they no longer honor unlimited miles nation wide for our account and are set up to charge $.32/mile if you cross the Mississippi. However, neither the corporate reservation line nor the employee who handed the keys to the car to me bothered to mention the new policy. I was also shocked that when I went to pick up my reserved economy car that the employee tried to offer me a Ford truck in order to avoid cleaning the economy car that was not ready when I arrived. If I reserve an economy car, I certainly dont want a gas guzzling huge truck. That is just stupid customer service. I am extremely disappointed in how the level of care and service has dropped in the past few years at this location. It appears I will have to drive an hour to either Hickory, NC or Greenville, SC to get the level of service I expect from Hertz after 20 years.

Never had a good experience with Hertz. Just tried to give them another chance but couldnt because THEY WILL NOT RENT TO YOU WITHOUT FULL COVERAGE INSURANCE AND A CREDIT CARD. The extra coverage they offer is useless because you cant add it unless you already have full coverage. For some reason, this company hasnt figured out how to work with its customers and give options like offering a simple deposit hold on your debit card, like literally every other rental car company. Thankfully, Enterprise is across the street!! At Enterprise, a debit card ok, insurance already rolled in, deposit that you will get back, and great customer service. I cant say the same for Hertz. Thanks for nothing, Hertz.

Excellent Service today. Courteous Staff. I dropped car @ Lannings Paint & Body Inc. Alexander NC (WNC). Gary picked me up @ dropped me at office. I got a cute blue Nissan & was out the door in ten mins.Happy Birthday to Gary Feb 14th.
