They were able to come out quickly from the time I called to make an appointment. The service Tech Jose was very nice and quickly determined the problem and fixed my a/c unit. The bill was reasonable and they didnt try to upsell me any unnecessary service or products. Would highly recommend the company and the service technician.

It was warranty work, done as quickly as possible, and in a professional and competent manner. as someone who spent my entire working life in this industry I know what Im talking about.

I can’t recommend going with Houk air conditioning if you have ac troubles folks. Our system is under factory warranty and we expected to pay for labor only. Tech was here for less than 2 hours and charged $500.00. When I asked for an explanation of labor rates I never got a straight answer. I was told the company has “flat rate” pricing and labor per hour doesn’t show up on their invoices. I got the impression that even though the work was warranted the cost of labor got inflated to make up for it. I don’t blame the technician, who was polite and thorough. But I have a problem not getting a straight answer as to how I was charged.

Called Houk to replace a faulty capacitor on my unit. I told them on the phone what the issue was. They charged $95 to show up, and $238 for the part. It costs less than $30 bucks at hardware store. I called and requested a price adjustment as I feel I have been price gouged. They said they charge a flat rate for this and would not adjust. I called back and spoke to someone else and asked what the flat rate was for a capacitor and was told they dont give flat rates out. So I was lied to and price gouged. Furthermore, I was never quoted the flat rate prior to the work being done. I have used this company for significant HVAC upgrades in the past, but have lost faith in them based on this unfortunate set of circumstances.

I’ve used Houk since the 1990’s. My recent service was satisfactory but very expensive and the technician was on his phone (caught on my cameras and twice in person) more time than he was working. He spent 15 minutes doing the work, sat in front of my house for 20 minutes before knocking on the door, was leaning over the unit looking at his phone for 10 minutes before I went to ask him how long it would be, gave me some story about having to let the charge from the capacitor drain out (which he discharged with a screw driver as I was questioning him) then sat out in front of the house for another 20 minutes before I went out to ask for the bill which he produced while I was waiting, so he certainly wasn’t doing the paperwork for the 20 minutes he had been sitting there. No wonder the charges are high.I doubt I will use them again. They used to be so awesome.

We have used Houk Heating and Air for nearly 18 years and purchased the maintenance contract most of that time Dont believe the ad about peace of mind with having inspections done twice a year. We purchased the last contract in June, $169, to have the AC checked out before Summer. They said even though the unit was old all looked good on it. 2 months later when it stopped working in August when it was over 100 degrees we were told the compressor had rusted through and we needed a new compressor or complete system and the technician would have a salesman call us in the morning, Saturday, to talk about having a new system put in on Monday. By the time the salesman finally called Monday evening I had found another company to help me select a new system and install it. I felt as if Houk had let us down when we needed them. After calling the office and asking to have part of the maintenance contract price reimbursed, and then following up because I had not heard back I was told the supervisor, Billy, wasnt going to refund it. Obviously customer service is not something Houk offers.

Houk installed our AC 3 years ago. There was a 2 year warranty. On year three the AC unit required costly repairs, because it wasn’t installed properly. We called their emergency line, but they had no urgency to help us. We were without AC for 9 days in September 2021. Our home was 90 degrees!!! They charged us a lot of money to repair, and wanted payment up front before we even knew the house was cooling down. We asked them to send us an invoice and instead they called the police and refused to leave our property until they had our credit card information. Also they give “flat rates” and won’t tell you why they charge a certain amount. They charged us $1500 for 2 hours of work. This company lacks empathy, doesn’t stand behind their work, and is unreasonable regarding billing. We are planning to purchase a maintenance plan from an HVAC company we can trust—we will never call Houk again.I will add my response to the Houk owners response here.Mr owner were you at our house in person to actually see how it went down? Ohhhhh! You were not. Let me clarify to you Mr owner of this so called ac business: 1. They did not complete everything we agreed upon. 2. No one slammed a door in anyone’s face! Actually, we expected them to come inside to check the vents, thermostat, etc. THEY REFUSED!!!! saying they were not good at that. That was a “technicians” job and they were just “installers”. I guess we were just supposed to “trust” them when they told us it was fixed. After living in a 90 degree house for 9 days, I was hoping for some certainty that it was going to get cooler soon. 3. When the police came, we couldn’t see due to a delay on our doorbell camera. We thought it was the installers banging out door down, and were NOT planning to open it due to the nature of the banging. It wasn’t until I peeked out of the front window that I saw they’d called the police, which is when we came out. They were going to take our AC apart again? Are you kidding??? Just because we wanted to wait and pay after the house was cool and we were sure the job was done right? Again...zero empathy, zero customer care. 4. Lastly, If you expect people to pay large sums of money on the spot the least you can do is tell them ahead of time. Don’t just demand it and call the police or take someone’s AC apart if they ask for an invoice!

My AC had been making odd sounds and rattling a little, rather than risk a bigger problem I called Houk out to do a precautionary check. They were fantastic. They took a look, checked everything out, and did make one little adjustment and the noises went away.I have used them in the past to install the system and run routine maintenance since the system was installed a few years ago and I have never been disappointed with the service, the techs, or their over all professionalism and courtesy.If you are looking to have a system installed or even your current system maintained, they are a great resource to have available.

I moved into my Newly Built Home in Oct 2020. I have been contacting HOUK since November... right before Thanksgiving. Heating system did not work. Although 5 different occasions called for people to come to my home.. the issue was NEVER resolved. Now, I have problems w/ the A/C .. yes, in Texas. I called yesterday, and the representative of this company told me she would call me back to let me know that shed reached everyone appropriately but someone would be coming out to my home yesterday. Nobody Came.. And I saw a Houk Truck next door to my home. Called today, lady said she didnt care, that the man would be out today.. Ill keep my fingers cross my issue can be resolved this time..

Our home had one Heat and Air system replaced in summer of 2017. In May of 2021 I realized that the Air conditioning system was not working properly. Houk came out to inspect the air output. After some discussion we realized that the the install was incorrect and as a result the damper motors were burned out. I reached out to service and warranty departments. And long story short Billy Johnson agreed to replace the motors and to make it right with no charge. I appreciate that Houk did the proper thing to correct the issue. As a result we are delighted do business and refer to HOUK!! many thanks to all!

Francisco did an incredible job on my yearly winter service. He was extremely knowledgeable and answered any questions that I had. I noticed he had an incredible attention to detail, tightening connections that most would have overlooked, and being very thorough about his work. Very impressed with this young man, and his service and work ethic.

Very unfriendly, they keep missing service appointments. When they do show up they want to give you 20 reasons why you voided your warranty - e.g. because you didn’t change your filter on time (which I am paying them for!!!). When there was an actual issue they can’t fit you in. Competitor showed up same day. Stay away.

Tech service was same day. The technician was professional, knowledgeable, and found the problem quickly. He was more than happy to answer all the questions I had with easy to understand answers. Some of the best service work Ive had, I will happily use them in the future.

We were having issues with our heating system in our new home. We realized that there was no heat circulating downstairs at all. This was not good because we have a newborn. Dustin showed up in full covid safe gear and went right to work. Dude diagnosed and resolved the issue like it was nothing. Im a truck driver. I listen to the radio most of the day so I hear many advertisements for heat and ac companies. I never heard one for Houk. One July morning in Arlington I was three cars behind a Houk van. The driver reached out to a homeless man who was standing on the island. He gave him some paper money, a couple pieces of fruit and some water. I was impressed with his compassion to help. That single act of kindness put Houk on the map for me. Funny, after that I started noticing billboards with their advertisements and other vehicles as well. They must take good care of employees who so freely give to the needy. That spoke volumes to me. Good job Houk!

The technician was wonderful. He was courteous and helpful, he was also really careful about safety in relation to the pandemic, this was a big thing for us as were a high risk household. I definitely plan on continuing to use them and was really happy with the service!

Replaced both of my units w/ trane units, love them, they work great, most recent work was installing 2 air purifiers in the units. workmanship was perfect, time will tell if it helps with allergies.

I highly recommend Houk Air Conditioning for your HVAC needs. They put in a Trane system for me in November 2018. It’s the best system we’ve ever had. Keeps the house nice and cold and saved me a lot on my electric bills. Last night however, my AC went out. (106 degrees) They came right out today and Gerardo replaced a shorted capacitor. Gerardo was very knowledgeable, fast, professional and friendly.One would hope top of the line equipment would last longer without problems, however when something does happen, it’s nice to see a company that stands behind their warranty.

I called Houk to set up a maintenance appointment and they were courteous and answered all my questions. In addition to coming during the window of time we agreed upon- they sent me a text to let me know the technician was on his way. I also received a phone call to verify that I was available. The tech was on time. Found a loose wire from outside unit to inside. My dogs loved him. He also recommended caulking outside the vents that were dripping from the high ceiling. Brilliant!

Really great experience with Houk... I was having some higher than normal humidity in my new house. They came out under warranty and fixed the issue - but also checked everything else. Super helpful - very professional... could not ask for more.

The was by far the worst AC company I have ever used. To replace a coil, they quoted $1,100.00 higher than the two additional opinions I was able to get. I had a service contract which offered 15% discount on equipment. A coil was not considered part of that contract. Take my advice, never use them, you will regret the experience.

Houk Air Conditioning is the best. They installed our full system when we needed it in 2011. Gave us the best price for a better Trane system than any other company. Their maintenance service program is worth the minimal cost. The techs are knowledgeable . Good company to do business with.

My experience with Houck Air Conditioning was outstanding. From making the appointment to having the appointment to the outcome, everything was done professionally and thoroughly. Thank goodness for technician Michael Fife given that were heading into July in Texas. He knew just what to do to get my system going again and gave me some tips to better maintain it throughout the summer.

One of our air conditioning units was not cooling. The technician, Sean, did an excellent job diagnosing the problem (leaking evaporator coil) and explaining all of our options. He was extremely professional. He arrived wearing a mask and had booties to protect our floor. He maintained a six foot distance while discussing our situation. Sean was excellent.

Excellent! He had a perfect opportunity to oversell, but he was honest and performed the work that was necessary. I am SO impressed! Seldom do we see such integrity in business these days, but Hauk definitely has it.

I ask for a 16 seer unit outside they gave a me a 14 seer so they said that the coil with the 14 makes a 16 seer that BS I would not recommend them at all plus they didnt replace any duct work will have pictures to show my duct work dont use them seriously dont

A/C tubes were clogged. Serviceman blew them out. A/C appears to be working fine. Took about 15 minutes. I am pleased.

Scott Fowler and his crew at Houk Air Conditioning did a superb job in replacing our two AC units and furnaces. I took bids from three or four HVAC providers and Houk was the only one who actually did an assessment of what I needed. He provided Trane 18 SEER AC units with variable speed and new thermostats. We now have a very comfortable home again. Christian ? and his installers took special pains to protect our hardwood floors and they made sure we were very happy with everything. We also get two years regular maintenance on the units. I heartily recommend Houk for all your air conditioning and heating needs.

We have used Houk Air Conditioning since 2012 when we moved here and we’re so happy with their service. They come semi-annually to service our units and the annual service fee is very reasonable. They have replaced our A/C units as well and did a fantastic job. I trust them 100% and recommend them for your A/C and heating needs.

Michael was a very thorough technician. He took the time to completely disassemble the condenser and flush the coils. He found a capacitor that was out of specification. He then found a leak in the evaporator. My system was then charged back up to get me back operational while the parts were ordered. A++

I have used Houk for 13 years. They were the original installers of the HVAC system when we purchased our home and we have continued to use them for annual maintenance and any work that comes up. Professional and courteous and the technicians are well trained and competent. I just had an intermittent problem with my furnace the tech was able to diagnose which required insight and understanding of potential failures, not simply pulling off an error code off a diagnostic tool. Strongly recommend.
