Several years ago we discovered that my sister was self-medicating for a complex underlying issue. Our family fought for her, but we faced an uphill battle for which we were woefully unprepared. By the grace of God, we encountered Mike in the course of our struggle.Mike saved my sister.He gave my parents back their daughter, he gave me and my siblings back our sister. He was there for us in her, and our, deepest struggles. My sisters condition was difficult to properly diagnose, and its even more difficult to successfully treat given the level of commitment it requires of the patient. Many professionals are reluctant to give it - even when theyre certain that its the right one.Mike did.And the difference was both joyous and fast. Sadly, we recently lost her to a sudden accident beyond anyones control. And, while my sister, my parents daughter, is gone, know that Mike saved her when we were convinced she was lost. And, though we would have never given up, Mike brought her back to us whole. Her passing was sudden, but, know that our family is beyond grateful for what he has done.No counselor is a fit for everyone. Be sure to take the time to get to know yours. But know that Mike is outstanding. Give him a chance, get to know him, and he might save you too.

There is a reason that Dr. Carney (Mike) is in high demand. He is not your typical therapist. Mike is all about genuine care for his clients and will give you the individual attention you deserve during your appointments. He will listen without judgement, tell you want you need to hear and provide practical advice and support in each session. He firmly believes in his clients ability to make positive changes. It is rare to find a dedicated therapist/coach that is genuine, experienced and most importantly, delivers results.

Mike is an incredibly down to earth and real counselor. We went to him for marriage counseling, and Mike gave us great tools and got us talking about things in straight forward ways that no other therapist had. He is very direct and blunt, but that worked well for my personality. Unfortunately our marriage did not work out, but Mike still gave us tools to work through the divorce mostly amicably. Highly recommend Mike if you can handle the blunt and honest truth.

I’ve been seeing Michael for about 7 years. I genuinely look forward to talking with him and always feel like I have a better handle on life after speaking with him. He is personable and professional and always has my best interest at heart. He has gotten me through the roughest parts of my life and has shown pride at my accomplishments. He challenges me and listens while giving me new perspectives. He truly is a phenomenal therapist and a fantastic person to have in your corner. What ever struggles you’re going through, speaking with this guy is a step in the direction you want.

Having just confirmed my seccond appointment with Dr Carney I cant give more than my initial impressions, but for people looking for a Dr who will do more than listen to you talk for an hour, I believe Dr Carney deserves a chance. I presented him with a number of delicate issues, and he took the time to expound upon the issues, ask questions, listen and educate me on next steps with recommendations. I am happy to say I have homework, tasks if you will, to complete before my next appointment. I want improvement in my life, and I think Dr Carney and his staff can help. Good luck!

Carney has canceled on us 2 out of the 3 scheduled visits same day last minute through text message. I own, manage and still drive at my logistics company and schedule my entire week around these appointments. Woke up at 3:30am this morning to make a roundtrip to Odessa TX and back to be on time for my 630pm appointment so I wouldnt disappoint my wife. (PS Friday rates are double)

Dr. Carney was personable and highly knowledgeable. Truly gets to the point! Great guy and true professional. You won’t regret going to him - I wish I became his client sooner.

This place is a complete joke. I was a new client to this place and called and made an appointment a week in advance. When I first called I spoke to a lady who told me to go online to look at their services cause she did not know any specifics about price. I then went online and selected the telehealth service since they are not seeing people in office due to COVID. I booked my appointment online for a early time slot. I then realized it never asked me about how I was going to pay. So right after booking my appointment I called back and got the same lady on the phone. I informed her I scheduled my appointment online and that it never asked me about payment, the lady then told me oh I have no idea how that works, I am just in scheduling or something to that nature. So a couple of days goes by and I get a email reminding me of my appointment. I never got a email about how this online appointment would go. So I called again and spoke to a gentleman who stated I should have received new client paperwork in my email. I informed him I have not. He then verified my email to make sure it was correct and it was. He then told me since I did not get any paperwork emailed to me, The therapist would most likely not do a zoom meeting but instead just give me a simple phone call. Then I asked again about payment and he said that I would handle payment info with the therapist during my appointment. At this point I thought all of this was pretty bizarre. Then the night before my appointment, I get another email reminding me about my appointment in the morning. I wake up extra early and get ready for his phone call. After about 10 minutes I never received anything so I called his office and the lady said he must be running late. Then 30 minutes goes by and still nothing. I call his office once more to verify they have my phone number on file correctly. The lady confirmed it was correct. The lady said she would put it down as a missed appointment on their end so I wouldnt be charged. This whole experience has been a joke and I should have listened to the multiple reviews about the therapist being late and canceling on his clients. This guy does not take your problems or time seriously. People are coming to YOU for help and if you keep standing them up or canceling on them at the last minute you might need to reconsider how you are running your practice.

Dr. Carney is an amazing therapist! He will address and identify specific issues with you to help guide you towards improvement.He is always there for you. I cannot thank him enough for everything he has done for our family. I would highly recommend him!

I’ve been a patient for a while now (over a year I think) and I recommend him to people all the time. I look forward to my appointments. Sometimes scheduling can be an issue but it’s worth considering that sometimes his patient’s needs don’t match his schedule and I’d hate to be interrupted if I was very upset about something due to his alarm going off.

Mike is great at what he does. My husband and I have been going to Mike for almost a year and he has really helped us. Mike brings a different perspective and ideas of how to look at situations that has really improved the communication and strength of my marriage. I would highly recommend him. Sometimes you might have wait in the waiting room for just a bit after your appointment time but if you want a truly helpful counselor...you wait. He will definitely spend that extra time with you as well when you need it.

I LOVE Mike!!! The very thought of therapy was kind of heavy, but after I got in there, it was MORE than comfortable! He offers multiple ideas, thoughts and opinions, AND listens and accepts yours in return. He offers great advice outside of your personal relationships to help you improve upon them and yourself. In turn, Ive been able to open my mind to perceiving situations from other peoples perspective, which helps with understanding and self control. Hes down to Earth, open, honest, funny, and respectful. I cant say enough great things to describe my experience! I first contacted Mike, via email. Without even meeting him face to face, he was genuinely helpful in a simple introduction. I scheduled an appointment with him at that time. The first visit was much easier than I expected. His office is a relaxing atmosphere. He let me lead the pace of the visit. I was able to speak freely without feeling judged. He did not try to interject while I was talking. Once I finished my initial rambling of EVERYTHING, he helped me sort through the thoughts and was able to assist in prioritizing my needs. It immediately alleviated the sense of being overwhelmed. His insight is quite helpful. Not only does he have the vast knowledge and expertise of the clinical side, he gives real life, day to day examples that you can relate to. If counseling is something you are seeking, Mike can certainly assist you.

I am a psychiatrist in Mansfield. Our office frequently refers patients to Michael Carney. I feel he does an excellent job as a therapist. We have consistently seen good results from him and I feel strongly that he is a valuable asset in our community. He works very hard to ensure that goals are set and that there is a reasonable plan in place to achieve those goals. I recommend him highly for many of my patients and he is one of just a handful of therapists that we will refer to outside of our own office.

Just updating this to add that Carney has helped me so much during this pandemic. Everything is crazy and I know hes got to have so much going on, but he is still his same steadfast self and helping others so much. Im even more grateful than ever that I have him as a therapist! I may not know what next week offers, but I do know that I can rely on him for help any time I need it.I have been going to Carney off and on (as I have need) for about 4 years. I have a chronic condition and whenever I need to get in, Im able to and hes always helpful. I contacted several therapists and psychologists (male and female) prior to choosing Carney. All of them were very, youre going to sit on my couch, talking about your feelings, Ill tell you its all your dads fault and pat you on the back and send you on your way all better. Carney was the only one who talked about a plan and course of action. Hes honest, he helps you realize things that youre doing wrong and then come up with a plan to help you. I know I can trust him and always feel safe in his office. I never recommend anyone else! And I always leave his office feeling more confident.

Mike is so easy and fun to talk to and I always enjoy and look forward to my appointments with him. He has a way with connecting with people and makes you feel so comfortable the minute you meet him. I have learned so much in the past few weeks and now have a new perspective in how I view everyday life. He is so funny, smart and caring and gives awesome advice! I recommend him to anyone that is looking for a good counselor! (PS - the coffee, snack, and chocolate are a bonus too!)

I was really nervous about seeking a professional due to my needs. Mike made me very comfortable like I’ve known him all my life! He actually explained the processes and helped me realize realistic goals. He was also very hospitable and entertaining! Totally different than what I expected.

Down to earth guy that can give you a clinical or no nonsense diagnosis. Be careful what you wish for though. Has me on a good path and has given me the tools needed to improve my situation. Mike will help shead light on what those problems are and gives resources to fix them, but as a patient its your responsibility to follow through.

Michael is incredible. The moment I walk into his office I breath a sigh of relief. The first time Michael saw me, he and I both knew if I didnt get help immediately I was going to end up dead within less than a year. I was very self destructive. I didnt know how to cope with life at all. I had no respect for myself or the people in my life. Michael changed my life. He is incredibly knowledgeable in his field. His eclectic style is on point. He is compassionate, understanding, inspirational, informative, witty, and 100% real. I highly recommend him for people dealing with any type of issue(s). I would highly recommend Mike Carney! Our experience has been above and beyond my expectations. My son and I have been seeing him for his bad life choices. Hes been a lifesaver. He has connected and guided my 25 year old son when dad and I could not. My sons comments are; hes caring, relatable, he really listens and addresses my concerns and its a comfortable environment.

An incredible guy and an even better therapist. I was diagnosed with severe clinical depression over 25 years ago, so I know a little about therapists. Several years ago, my therapist passed away and as you can imagine, was reluctant to start over with someone new. As is the nature of depression, the option of self remedy was quickly closing. Tried several, worked with one for months and realized we werent moving forward. Then I was referred to Mike. He has me figured out cold!!! He knows where I am and where I can go. Im excited to go to my appointments and best of all, my wife likes ME!!!

If I could describe Mike in 3 words They would be; obnoxious, condescending, and unprofessional. He made me feel so uncomfortable, and worthless. If you want real help stay the hell away from this guy, he will only tolerate you if youve got the wallet to let him prance around like a douche bag for however long you allow it. Because of this guy Its really hard for me to trust therapists with anything, or even consider them. If you dont believe me you go ahead and waste your money on this guy.

Do not go near this therapist. Does not understand the concept of addiction AT ALL and has no idea how to provide therapy for it. Claims an alcoholic is able to drink as long as it isnt excessive. Terrible with marriage counseling - has a difficult time staying neutral. Has actually provided MORE harm than good in marriage counseling and instead of saving a marriage that was salvageable, has turned it into a full blown custody battle/nasty divorce. Other than that - personality is totally douche bag-ish. Dont bother with this guy, save your money and your marriage.

Its very hard for me to read someone say he knows nothing about addiction. I have been to several counselors and Michael by far knows more about addiction. He has taught me very good things in regards to relationship. If you want the truth and not have someone bs you then he IS the counselor to see.

I agree with all the scheduling reviews on here. After being on time for my scheduled appt, I waited over 30 mins in the waiting room and got tired of waiting and left. Too bad he is losing all these clients due to either overbooking or not being organized.

I went to see Michael Carney to get help with an issue. The first two times he cancelled on me. The last time he did, it was about an hour before I was scheduled to meet with him. The next appointment, he was over a half hour late. My last scheduled appointment, I waited over a half hour and finally got frustrated and left. This was a vulnerable time in my life and his actions showed he didnt care for me or my mental health. Take my word for it, if your going to spend a hundred bucks to see a counselor, go to one who at least pretends to care about you. This man certainly doesnt.

Made two appointments with Mike Arlington...the first time he canceled the morning of the sppt. and suggested later that week. Never heard back. My wife was impressed so I made a second appt. And you guessed it. I got a text while I was parked at the center to delay our APPT. For an hour... I dont feel like he respect the time of vlients.

Mike helped me to get through my anger and taught me how to really manage it better.

After being in detox for 6 days I got released by the Dr. with no meds and no after care nothing, didnt know where to turn I started calling therapist and with no luck with call backs from anyone. I decided to give one more person a try which was Carney. I really wasnt sure because of his google profile pic almost turned me away cause he appeared a little creepy but Im glad I didnt let myself judge a book by its cover. Michael Carney has been a blessing to my family from the day I met him I felt comfortable with him with my life in his hands to guide me in the right direction. The first day I met him he set me up with everything I needed to do that I didnt know before and got me a great psychiatrist as well. furthermore my wife and I are eventually going to start couples therapy with him as well. If you have any issues that you feel you need a therapist I highly recommend Michael Carney!

After cold turkeying off of my psych meds and suffering a complete psychotic break, I was hiding in my room for 10 weeks hallucinating, and having constant panic attacks my mom got me in with Mr. Carny after a 5 day visit to the psych ward. It was exactly the office I needed to walk into. I was coherent on meds and we got to know eachother pretty quick, not only is he qualified but hes funny, and my favorite part is that hes real. He doesnt treat you like a crazy person, he doesnt talk down to you, and he can help you with all kinds of issues because of his connections with other doctors. He really got me on the right treatment track. Hes very realistic about psych meds, which I am very happy for because personally I was beyond terrified of them. he got me to trust a psychiatrist and im enjoying life again after 10 weeks of physical and psychological hell. And the best part is that Im going to continue to work with him so that eventually i wont need to depend on meds to function normally its a long road but Im glad that I am in good hands.

Mike saved my live. Speaking only from personal experience, he gives hope to the hopeless, makes sure his clients are comfortable, and provides excellent tips techniques to potentially reverse years of maladaptive habits his clients have developed to cope with stress and trauma.If you are the type of person who has never quite clicked with any particular therapist, Mike is the guy for you.
