I have been living at Crystal House for about a month and would like to give a proper review. As many of you, I checked out the reviews for this place prior to viewing and it was extremely worrying. However, I am so glad I ignored them and took the chance. If you are in the same boat, please continue reading!Crystal House definitely has it’s pros and cons, just like any other place would. First things first, I would like to make it a point that Crystal House is under new management. It is a large company that owns many buildings in the area, so it seems to be a better management. Most of the poor reviews are from a while ago.Anyway- I love it here! Before I even moved in, my leasing agent (Kathleen Akers) was absolutely wonderful. She was extremely friendly, polite, professional, and communicative. Although there was a lot of back and forth, she continued to help in anyway she could to get me moved in. Thank you Kathleen!!The building- Crystal House was built in the 60’s, so of course that raises cause for concern, but it’s evidently refurbished and I haven’t had any major issues thus far. There have been a few things, but maintenance comes quickly and resolves the issue at hand. Concierge, for the most part, is friendly too. Yuri specifically has been great! The area- Crystal City is lovely, I feel safe walking anywhere. I will mention that there are a couple homeless people here and there on the corner behind the building, but it honestly doesn’t seem to be worrisome. It seemed sketchy for me at first, but I realized it isnt too bad. Additionally, Crystal House is a quick walk to the metro, which is great for me as I commute to DC.The apartment- I love my apartment so much! This place is just what I needed. There is so much space and great lighting from the big windows. The sink seems a little cheap as it is difficult to move the faucet back and forth, but all the other appliances are great, especially the laundry units. The balcony is huge, just the cherry on top!The biggest con I will highlight is that I can hear my neighbors stomping around upstairs. I can’t hear noise or anyone talking (from any sides) which is great, but I do hear very loud thumping even with my tv on, which becomes frustrating. Especially as it shakes my lights. This likely varies for each place, depending on your above neighbors, so I feel that was just unlucky for me and could potentially not even be an issue for you. Not too sure. Another thing to be aware of is that there is a lot of construction in this area, so you will definitely hear it, but it doesn’t bother me too much. All in all- this place is not as bad as the reviews. Try to pay attention to the more recent ones as it is under new management. I will surely update this review as time goes on, but please don’t rely on these negative reviews too much!

I truly enjoy living in Crystal House. My apartment is very spacious, nicely renovated, and it has a great view. The rooftop became one of my favorite spots in DMV. Be aware that some of the negative reviews here are fake: Ive noticed the exact same reviews (=exact same words) for some other apartment buildings in Crystal city. Some people who wrote these review were not residents at Crystal House.

The air conditioner in the apartment has been broken since 6.25. It is 6.28 now and it has not returned to normal. However, the management guy emailed on 6.26 that it had been repaired. No matter who sent the email, I think he/she should be ashamed. The e-mailer was so irresponsible that all the residents have to endure 3 days without air conditioning in the summer of 95 degree! At the same time, the elevator and garage door of the apartment were also broken, but no one came to repair it.It’s understandable if these things only break once in a while, but this is the THIRD time in a month. I don’t know who is in charge of these things. I just feel that the management team is shirking responsibilities and doesn’t care about the residents.

Im a new resident who just moved in, but what made me choose Crystal House is 1. Theres a ton of available staff 7 days a week 2. The staff is both knowledgeable and friendly 3. The price is better than it is in DC 4. The apartments are HUGE & modern 5. Theres a ton of amenities (including a full-sized pool w/on-site Lifeguards, a full-sized gym, an onsite convenient store, and a rooftop deck w/panoramic views). Amazing place overall!

Generally speaking, I am satisfied with living here. The reason for the four-star rating is because there were some dissatisfaction when communicating with the leasing office. But now, after several communication, the problem has been solved.Leasing office:Sharon is a very friendly manager. If you have a problem that is difficult to solve, she will definitely help you solve the problem. I have some personal suggestions to the team: many problems cannot be solved quickly, which is understandable, but I hope that the leasing team members will be more timely and positive in communicating with the residents in following up part. Because sometimes we have to contact the leasing office by ourselves multiple times to solve the problem.Concierge:Tiara and Yuri are the most amazing and professional staff I have ever met. They will say hello to us every time, and they will always help us get the packages accurately. Sometimes when I ordered a very large package, Yuri even helped us deliver it directly to the door of the unit. Thank you!Maintenance team:Its also a great experience! After we fill out the repair application on the website, they will come to the apartment to help us solve the problem within a few hours. Everyone is very nice and helps us solve problems quickly.Future suggestion:It would be better if the apartment could build a closed dog park to provide our four-legged friends with an exclusive activity space. In general, I will recommend new friends to live here.

NO RELIABLE AC, ROACH AND MICE PROBLEM, POOR MANAGEMENTMy family and friends who live here DO NOT recommend this community as your next home. While the location is great and the amenities seem really nice, the reality is quite different. Most recently, we have experienced on-going air-conditioning problems in which the ac simply stops working. This has happened several times now since the spring. There have been no real efforts to permanently resolve this issue nor has management made any attempts to compensate residents for this on-going problem. Their most recent email to residents sent out earlier today suggested we all use/buy fans to try to stay cool.Honestly, it is inconsiderate and insulting to say the least. We pay over $3,000 a month to live here! And the ac isnt the best when it IS working.I cant even get into the roach and mice problem. While there are options to exterminate your unit about once a week—know that it is an on-going problem as well. You may have 1-3 months of no roach or mice sightings before you have to call and make an extermination appointment.Lastly, I have resorted to cleaning the courtyard pavilion myself in order to host my sons birthday party. The trash cans were filled and overflowing with food and booze, the floors had vomit from party goers the night before, and the grilling areas were filthy with black stains (oil), food and spilled drinks. Completely disgusting! The courtyard is commonly used area and suffers a lot of wear and tear. It is unfortunate we cant enjoy more because it is not being properly cleaned and maintained.

Moved in about a month ago. Very comfortable space, plenty of room. Apartment is spacious and a well laid out space. It is also VERY conveniently located; lots of stores, grocery stores and restaurants nearby, as well as public transportation. Moved here during a life transition that would be difficult anyplace, but the people who work here have been totally gracious, answering all my questions and helping get things set up. Minor repair I needed was accomplished quickly and professionally. The folks at the front desk are amazing. Very happy here.

Overall we love living here, especially now that we have a new management company. The location is incredible, there are fabulous amenities (especially the convenience store in basement), and having a huge balcony is a big perk. Really the only significant downside of living here is noise. If your neighbors are loud, youre going to hear it. Luckily, now that we have the new management company, they are willing to take action to resolve issues.

Update: Was told that a specialist would be scheduled to address the issue. The building marked the service request as “complete,” though no specialist has been scheduled, none has visited our apartment, and we are still without reliable AC. Our vents pump out air that does not cool the apartment, so we get stuck paying to keep our apartment from rising to the scorching temps outside. Looking forward to this specialist. We’ve had at least 4 AC issues since moving in in April. Each time we have to spend time in uncomfortably warm apartments waiting for repairs. Residents are left with the choice to keep running AC units as fans and pay for the bill or turn them off and suffer through super hot days. On top of that each week a different elevator is down. This weekend we were down to 1 elevator for 14 floors.

I am giving each one of these five stars to Crystal House for one reason: Tiara at the concierge desk. What a pleasure during these dismal times to have such a friendly and helpful person there when you come in from a long day or need assistance with something. While some of the people who work at Crystal House are not so much a pleasure to work with, Ive consistently been impressed by the concierge and maintenance staff. But then there are those who go above and beyond like Tiara.

There are some issues to be aware of before you sign a lease here:First make sure that you are able to view the actual unit that you will be renting. When my roommates and I started moving in they had a dozen people in the unit itself still cleaning the unit. It was not taken care of by the prior tenant, and Crystal House was clearly not ready for us to move in.Secondly, dont expect to get your deposit back. Despite all the issues that we had dealt with, the company nickled-and-dimed us for the entire deposit plus additional fees that they assessed several months later. The price is reasonable but just be aware that the company will take advantage of the renter at every opportunity.

Management is irresponsible and doesnt care about their tenant at all. They refused to turn on air conditioning when the heat indoor has reached 80 while they sit in their office enjoying full air conditioning. Roach issue is disastrous. One tenant put a paper in elevator today asking other tenants to request the managment turn on the AC and within 1 hour the paper dissapeared, guess who did it? Avoid this building if you can!

Relaxing and beautiful, this place should humble you if your coming from nothing. Dont take it as oh its just another apt. Take as its another blessings and that everything is going to be alright. New beginnings mean a blessing is in the works for you. They have a open space view with benches to sit on, which you should enjoy before they build more buildings in the open space and ruin the beautifulness of the Crystal House facility because Amazon has bought them off because they are greedy for more money. I understand that affordable housing is needed then what should happen is lowering down the rents in the building and also around the entire DMV. You dont wanna become like NYC over crowded. I just saw an article that explained AMAZON BOUGHT OFF CRYSTAL HOUSE to destroy the open space that residents can enjoy and relax with developing more buildings instead of actually having a residential meeting to see what we will think. This isnt the first time they done this. SMH

She helped us find the apartment we wanted, and walked us through the entire process without any issues. The buildings are great-- we love the amenity areas and use them often. The staff all around is super friendly. We love the convenience store in the building because they carry pretty much everything and its conveniently located. Also, both buildings are walking distance to pretty much everything in Crystal/Pentagon City. Overall were very pleased with our experience and will definitely be renewing our lease.

Crystal house reviewTL; DR Crystal House is an excellent place to live. 10/10 would rent again. Background: Below is a comprehensive review of my 2 year stay. I would like to preface that this is my experience and that other residents may have differing experiences or situations that would provide conflicting reviews.LEASING: Like many young professionals, I had gotten a job in DC. However, I didn’t want to live in DC because of the crazy expenses (and I wanted my vote to count). On the other hand, I didn’t want to live too far from the DC area. Crystal City was the perfect compromise. A college friend who had also moved to DC and lived at Crystal House recommended the place. After my first tour, I was sold.Scott Kelly, the leasing specialist, was very attentive. He took note of my preferences and tailored the tour to highlight aspects that I wanted to have. The leasing office is conveniently open seven days a week - perfect for people who have various commitments. They were also extremely flexible with my move in dates, even going so far as to line up with my previous complex’s move out date so I wouldn’t have to double pay rent for two different places.PRICE: One of the largest concerns for me is rent. I was quite surprised of the total rent. Rent is decent compared to the DC area as well as other complexes in the Crystal City area. Utilities (with the exception of wifi/cable) are all bundled in one cost with rent so paying it is extremely hassle-free from the resident portal. Parking, depending on what option you get (surface, garage, covered), is not too overly expensive.AMENITIES: Crystal House has a wide range of amenities; I will break down further below.-Concierge: Yes, their concierge is actually 24 hours. For both buildings. The concierge has always been very helpful and friendly with me whenever I have requests. If you have a delivery, you’ll get an email. You’ll go to the front desk and they’ll verify who you are with your apartment number and ID before you sign for the package. With package thieves and porch pirates, this is a safe alternative. The concierge will be there to unlock doors (we have fobs and not actual keys so if you leave your apartment without it you have to have someone unlock for you).Concierge makes it easier for you to move. They check out carts and dollies all the time. There is a separate cargo elevator from the main elevators in each building for your convenience.-Maintenance: The maintenance folks have been very easy to work with. You submit a request over the online portal and someone will fix or address your issue relatively soon. They are attentive and responsive and almost all issues are resolved within 24-48 hours. If not, you can always go to the leasing office and they will send someone right away.-Parking: There are three types of parking - surfaces , garage, and underground. Each one in increasing cost. I opted for surface parking and have not had significant trouble finding parking. On the other hand, the surface level parking is EXTREMELY spacious. A major concern I had before moving over here was the scant options for parking. Crystal House completely mitigates those concerns.-Gym/Yoga room: I did not use the Yoga room but I did use the gym often. It’s not a very spacious gym but it gets the job done.-Swimming Pool: They have a pretty convenient swimming pool, located between both buildings. It is manned when it is open.COVID-19: Crystal House has done an excellent job with mitigating COVID-19. They have limited riders in elevators, plexiglass for concierge, social distancing requirements, and signs requiring residents to wear masks. In summation, I was very pleased with my stay. I wished I could have stayed longer and I will definitely consider leasing if I am ever coming back to the area. I want to pass an extended thanks to everyone in the leasing office and concierge who helped to make my experience at Crystal House enjoyable.

Loved the overall building. Nice amenities. Spacious apartment. Friendly front desk staff. The bugs were absolutely terrible. For two years. There were too many little temporary fixes that didn’t work. Luckily they didn’t go into our food cabinets but they were all over the other cabinets/sink/floor in the kitchen. When we moved out we found bug bodies and what appeared to be bug poop all over our very top cabinets. One night we came home to at least 30 bugs in our kitchen. The rent was raised way too much which is why we decided to leave, in addition to the bug issue. I agree with other reviews- it has potential to be a great place to live but the bug issue needs to be addressed. Found a similar size apartment in a different building in the same area for a lot less money and no bugs. Edit- since writing this, we also received our security deposit back...minus $140 for cleaning fees even though we cleaned before we left and had to clean up a ton of bugs during the 2 years. Wasnt too pleased about that.

The best thing about this place: location location location!!! It’s seriously the best place to be in terms of proximity to the city, there are like 3 grocery stores within a mile, you can walk to shopping centers, etc. It lost two stars for two reasons:1. It’s expensive. I understand the need to compete with neighboring complexes, but I have linoleum floors and i don’t have granite countertops or stainless steel. I think we overpay for the older style of an apartment. Also, they raised the price of the parking and the rent on us in the middle of a pandemic. It didn’t seem considerate. While some places are lowering costs to help their residents, the very least they could have done was left the prices alone. They even charge you if you get locked out of your apartment if their leasing office is not open (and they’re rarely open, see below)— I’m not talking LOSING the key, I’m saying “hey I left my key inside, can you get it open for me?” It seems they do anything to make the extra buck.2. The staff. There is new management, and so far, the new managers have seemed to be helpful, responsive, and compassionate. However, the leasing office and the concierge desk is frequently staffed with incompetent and unfriendly people. Often times, asking for a favor as a resident from the leasing office felt like I was inconveniencing them. The leasing office is never open during convenient times, only while everyone is at work (their odd ball hours are like 10-3, so by the time you’re home, you can’t get to them). One time, my key fob just stopped letting me into my apartment. I went downstairs and no one could figure out why it wasn’t working, and the leasing office has to be the ones to get me a key. Well- it happened to be a holiday weekend so I didn’t have a working key for 2 days because the leasing office did not inform me that I needed to reset it after renewing my lease. It has gotten a bit better, though. The new managers seem to be more willing to help me in a pinch, and I greatly appreciate them. In fact, they got something that had been broken for 8 months fixed the same week they started... after months of requesting it be fixed. On top of location, the reason I gave THREE stars was because of two of their stars on staff. I can’t write this review without giving a major shoutout to two of the best concierge workers I’ve ever had: Yuri and Tiara! They are always friendly, they bend over backwards to solve problems, and they are so efficient and competent in completing tasks. I can’t count how many times they have helped. Either it’s Yuri personally going out of his way to take a large package up to my apartment or Tiara working around difficult situations to help me get into my apartment (like that one time when the leasing office staff never let me know the key needed to be reset when I renewed my lease - SO incompetent on the leasing staff’s side.). Other than the two of them, the rest of the concierge people pale in comparison. Honestly, they should be in charge of training the rest - because too many of them do not know how to fix an issue when I have one and are incredibly unfriendly and mediocre.Alas, I digress. I still live here and I’ve renewed so they must be doing something right...

My apartment was literally infested with roaches. Since roaches are generally more nocturnal, I did not see them until nightfall on my very first night in the apartment (of course after I’d spent the entire day moving in and unpacking). Without exaggerating, I saw at least 40 roaches that night. I bought a spray at the supermarket and tried to spray it down, but at that point there were roaches crawling on my bedside table, walls, ceilings, swimming in my dog’s water bowl, on the kitchen counter, bathroom, everywhere! I did not even sleep one night in this apartment, I left immediately. The only reason why I am giving Crystal House two stars instead of one is because they allowed me to move out as soon as I was able to find another arrangement, cancel my lease, and refund me. I am very grateful that this did not need to turn into a hassle with lawyers involved. However, I think it is also important to note that because you can’t move from one apartment to another overnight, my stuff sat in this roach infested apartment for over a week. When I came back to repack up my stuff a couple days later, there were roaches crawling on my brand new $$$$ mattress.I believe that Crystal House has all of the facilities to be an amazing residential community and I thank Lily for all of her help and attention. Unfortunately, I could never recommend this place to anyone with good conscience, because roaches do not just gravitate to one unit. The building definitely has a serious roach problem as you will probably see in other posts on here on Google. I would not live in Crystal House even if it was rent free.

I have two separate stints at Crystal House, with the first one being in the early 2000’s, so when I moved back to the area, I wanted to return since it was renovated. I was honestly in a pinch so I signed a lease at a fair rate, but that was all that was positive. Since Amazon moved into the neighborhood, they have increased rent substantially for no real reason even during the pandemic. I had a persistent rodent issue that I put in almost four different maintence requests over a year span and they barely fixed the problem. In addition, they charge you just as much to move out, as when you move into the building. I would recommend other locations with same amenities at better pricing in the area.

Absolutely terrible. Months and months of roaches and mice and barely any response by management. No lease adjustments. Once found a roach in my own bed. Leasing office once tried to say I did not own my own car and almost would not give me a parking pass that I had already paid for. Once a maintenance crew entered our apartment under the guise of touch up painting when my roommate and I never filled out a maintenance request and there were not any building-wide maintenance efforts going on. We were never contacted and had no idea individuals had been in our home. When we both got home from work at night we found our front door completely open and found out it had been left open to the general public right next to the floor stairwell for hours from the mystery maintenance crew who had entered our own personal rooms for paint touch ups. Management did nothing to help or apologize. Laughable that this has so many fake positive reviews. Avoid at absolutely all costs.

Overall clean and good quiet place to live. Great facilities. Leasing office is responsive and friendly. They were always accessible whenever I had questions (Shoutout to Kathleen Ackers!). Maintenance responds to your work orders in order of urgency such as leaks get immediate attention....I was worried before moving in that about bugs and pests would be a problem based off reviews, but I’ve only seen maybe like one bug. I’m guessing a lot of those people that mentioned bug issue problems are people that probably don’t clean (mop their floors, vacuum, sweep, etc) as much as they should be doing or doing a good thorough job of it hence why they have lots of problems. Or It could be their neighbors whose problems are unfortunately spilling over to them. I clean my place weekly, and haven’t had any real issues. The only reason why I didn’t put five stars is because some rules aren’t enforced as well as others. For example, the gym during COVID is supposed to be reserved before use on the app. However, it’s routinely not. I brought it up with management once in email and another in person, but not much has changed. Also, many people aren’t respectful of others when they don’t wear their masks while walking around the gym when not engaged in exercise. I’ve reminded a few they should, but many aren’t receptive to it unfortunately.

I wish I could renew my lease but I moved out to another state.Special thanks to Scott from the leasing office, He did a great job for providing the best customer service to make our stay comfortable. He always kind, helpful and listen well for our issues before and during the lease. If you want to have a great leasing experience, ask for Scott !!.

The stories about roaches are real. They finally hired Orkin after having some third rate company doing the spraying for years! So maybe the problem is gone. Also concierges have gotten nicer but the rental office staff generally leaves a lot to be desired in they frequently liked to pretend the building doesnt have bugs. Move in but just know what youre getting into. Also you can hear everyone walking overtop of you because they didnt properly insulate when they took out all the wall to wall carpeting. Just cheap...

Crystal House is nice and convenient place to call home. For me, everything is literally in walking distance or a metro ride away. The leasing staff is great, especially Ashley, Scott and Kathleen. Ashley is great and always quick to answer questions via email and always makes time on her calendar if you need to see management face-to-face. Scott is always welcoming, professional, and always takes care of my leasing needs with expertise. Kathleen greets me with a smile and always responds with respect and professionalism. The concierge staff, Yuri, Tiera, and Sabrina, have provided excellent customer service. They are always friendly and professional. They always listen to my concerns, answer all my questions, and take care of any issues expeditiously. Yuri and Tiera always greet me in the afternoon with a smile and if I have packages, they are giving them to me before I have the opportunity to ask. That’s customer service and VIP treatment! I really feel that all the concierges are great, but the ones I mentioned have went above and beyond.

I absolutely loved living here. The apartments and amenities are great, I took so much advantage of the pool while I could, but I wish they had a hot tub for the winter (giving you some ideas Crystal House). The staff is wonderful and helpful, and keep the place intact, if you need something fixed, they will come immediately and take care of it. Rent is expensive, just like anywhere in DC/Crystal City. Regardless, I would live here again. Thank you for a great year!

Horrible - convenient, yes... but, don’t make the mistake of signing a lease. The property is infested with rodents and cockroaches, the ceilings leak, and it’s clear that management is holding the place together with duct tape.Worst of all, they nickel and dime the heck out of you. Locked out - $100. Forget to hand-in cheap plastic pool bracelets - $200. And, don’t forget your scraper to remove you parking pass sticker from your windshield! You can find much better for your money, with better amenities and fewer bugs.Beware of all the fake positive reviews on here.

I had the opportunity to tour the Crystal House in Crystal City. Jude was kind enough to show me the community and an apartment I requested to see. Her breadth of knowledge of the community and amenities was second to none. No detail was forgotten in her presentation and she took great care to ensure all my questions were answered. The furnishings and decor in the lobby and ground floor common space were high-end and luxurious. The apartment I requested to see was spacious and perfectly suited for our needs. What I appreciated was the pictures on the website matched what I saw in person, however, the view were even more amazing than the pictures.

Crystal House is a wonderful place to live. The staff is responsive and friendly, the location is convenient and the amenities including the pool, rooftop terrace, and gym are very nice. The apartments are big, well-maintained and clean. I would definitely recommend living here.

Beautiful property with updated amenities. I loved living here. The concierges are awesome and although the leasing office seems pretty strict I never had any issues living here. Maintenance fixes everything within 24 hours and is friendly. Only good things to say- I think the reason the rating is so low online is because of construction for the new amenities that came before I moved in. Also the pricing sucks in high season, but you can get a good deal if you pressure a bit on the off-season.

This apartment has nice amenities but the A/C (most important) is not acceptable. System is so old that we cannot switch between heat and A/C in the transition months and it cannot keep up on warm day, like today. They claim that the A/C is a luxury but obviously too luxurious enough for this Luxury apartment.Cant forget the picture (from today, 6/18/18 at 5:30 pm) of the antiquated thermostat (that isnt accurate) and the thermometer/humidity monitor to show an example.

My husband and I moved into the Crystal House in November & so far we love it. They recently renovated all of the amenities so everything looks new and modern inside. The building was built in the 60’s so it has old bones, but don’t let that fool you. The rooms are very big & you get a lot of square foot for your dollar. The staff here is great! I really like Dean and Ashley from the leasing office & Jason that works the front desk. They also put on a lot of community events which makes coming home fun & a great way to meet your neighbors.

Ive had an overall great experience living at Crystal House in Arlington, VA. First off the location is perfect; extremely close to the crystal city metro stop and is surrounded by tons of restaurants and shopping centers. Not to mention a 5-10 minute walk to the mall at Pentagon City. Another thing is that the customer service is great. Whenever there is a maintenance request is put in it is answered that day or the next at the latest. Everyone is very friendly and always willing to help. The 24 Hour front desk is also great whenever you may have an issue or to receive any packages that you have sent to you. The amenities are awesome; great poo, rooftops with grills, gym, lounge area, and party rooms all available. The only downside is the parking in my opinion, there is no parking spot that comes with the apartment. Each car requires a $60 monthly rent for outside parking and more for garage parking. Guest parking is also $5 for every 24 hours so it can make having guests over a little difficult. But the pros definitely outweigh the cons. I would recommend Crystal to anyone looking to live in the metro DMV area.

This place is wonderful!Great location (no more than 3 blocks away is a metro stop, great places to eat, Capital Bikeshare station, banks, 7/11, Pentagon Mall). Easy bike ride (4 blocks) to Mount Vernon Trail. Easy drive (or low cost taxi) to National Airport. The apartments are reasonable in price, nice in space utilization, and most have balconys. Ours overlooks the park like grounds and the pool. Parking by permit with plenty of spots. Me, I have 2 reserved breezeway parking spots and 1 standard. They also have underground parking too.Staff are really top rate, with someone manning the front desk 24/7. Repairs (had very few) are done almost as quick as you can enter them into the on-line maintenance scheduler.Doesnt get any better if you ask me.

This is very pet friendly apartment complex. Considering its proximity to the Crystal City metro, it is fairly priced. The staff is always welcoming and willing to hear my concerns. My biggest issues with the complex are the regularity with which the building elevators break down as well as the HVAC situation. The apartments are configured for one system at a time, either heat or cold. However, they too often take long to turn on the AC in the spring and are too quick to turn off the AC in the fall.

There are some great things about this complex and there are some issues. On the plus-side, the buildings are pet friendly, the apartments are spacious, there are some great events that bring in local businesses, the location is fantastic, and there are great amenities (pool/gym/rooftop). Some of the front desk staff (Jason who has since left) and the leasing office team (Deen in particular) are great. On the other hand, Ive had some bad experiences with appliances not working and structural issues. The apartment design could be better; the bedrooms share a wall and are adjacent to the bathroom. All in all, Im pretty happy with Crystal House.

Theyve done a good job renovating this building. Outside amenities are some of the best and biggest Ive seen in arlington. Awesome views up top though.

Worst leasing / management staff. Dont let the dog treats at the front fool you - they are 200% not dog friendly. They dont allow dogs to roam in the fenced area by the pool. Dont let the nice furniture trick you into thinking its a quality place to live, either. They go into your homes and send eviction letters, casually. BTW - several people on the same apartment wing got the same notice. Collectively, as an angry mob, we went down to ask about it. When you go downstairs to speak with them to see why they sent the eviction letter, they say they went into your place, saw that you had food residue on your stove (yes - they thought pasta splatter was grounds for eviction) and trash bags (1 trash bag and 1 brown bag for recyclables - nothing crazy) that werent thrown out; thus, sought it fair grounds to send a threatening letter asking to vacate the space within a months time. Seems a bit extreme, dramatic and un-hospitable in my opinion. Its probably because they have a roach issue. Its a problem they need to take upon themselves to resolve, but seems like theyre sending around eviction notices to those with trash bags to pin the blame back on the residents. Worst management. Run the other way and live somewhere else.

Crystal House is a great place to live with modern apartments with a gym, fitness studio, large pool, and plenty of outdoor spaces including outdoor grills and rooftop patios. There are lots of activities for the residents as the Program Director, Tiffany G., does a great job of coordinating events that keep the community engaged and allows for the residents to meet and interact with each other. Events have included Jazz in the Garden, Comedy Night, Paint Night, Salsa Dancing Night, Crepes Food Truck Night, and a Wine Tour to name a few. These activities along with the amenities make the experience feel like a community and well worth the cost of living in this area. The building is a little older, so the floor plans are quite large but still very competitive with the newer buildings around. The balconies are huge with plenty of space. The windows are quite large and bring in a lot of light. The renovated apartments feature new floors, carpets, and appliances and remodeled kitchens and bathrooms. There are plenty of parking spaces for residents including outdoor surface parking, half-covered parking and garage parking. Also, the community is only a block away from the metro and restaurants making it very accessible and convenient. There are a few grocery stores, pharmacies, and convenience stores within close proximity including Whole Foods, Harris Teeter, CVS, Rite Aid, and 7-Eleven.There are a few downsides, however. First, the heating/cooling is managed by the building -- while each room has a thermostat, there is only heating or cooling at one time. So, there is heating only during the winter and cooling only during the summer. This is only an issue during the late spring or early fall when temperatures fluctuate and you might need heat or cooling depending on the weather. Also, there are no electric vehicle charging stations available or in the works, so owning an electric vehicle is a little difficult. Lastly, even though there are plenty of parking spaces available, arranging parking for guests is a hassle as parking is pay-per-day only.

Ive been a resident for a few months and have had a really great experience. The property is pretty, staff is friendly, and the location is great.Honestly, the only negative I have experienced is the temperature in the building. The AC is controlled by the building and they shut it off very early which caused a bit of discomfort. I have asthma and the apartment gets very warm and stuffy (I have my heat off and I even keep the window open during the day and have a fan running constantly). Additionally, the corridors are kept very warm so once you leave your apartment, it feels like a sauna on the elevator landings. The apartment would be perfect if not for the temperature issues.

I enjoyed my time at Crystal House right from the moment Scott Kelly - the lease specialist here - very professionally helped me decide my apartment and walked me through the paperwork, up until the the last day on my lease. My first impression was the amenities are really cool here, youve got a good pool, gym, recreational space and meeting rooms; the whole deluxe package. The conditions of the apartment that I lived in were perfect to the T when I arrived coupled with a warm welcome bag of goodies. I maintained my place well and I was happy with the general state of the building. Sure we dont live in a utopian world, I did have my share of bugs and maintenance issues but the ease of access by walks to all my daily needs, groceries and housekeeping things compensated well enough for me. I worked 5 blocks down the road at WeWork and life was just fine here!I do see other concerning comments here, I cant guarantee that you may or may not face them but for the price, this place is genuinely nice. By all means please do inspect the premises before you step in to live here. I do not want you to mislead yourself with internet based comments. Trust what you see. This is not an overestimated review, I just had a great time here.Cheers,SM

We have been living here since May. Every part of the move in process was smooth. The apartment is fantastic with very little sound pollution. The internet we got is Verizon Fios. I do a lot of movie watching, gaming, and streaming and I’ve never had an issue with it. The amenities are some of the best I’ve had with my favorite being the patio area that’s perfect for BBQs. It’s a block away from the blue and yellow lines and a 5 minute drive to the airport. Crystal city in general is a fun safe and clean area. The complex is also very family friendly as it has pools and a lot of fun and free community recreational events like concerts, waffle making, wine and art dates, and dog behavioral classes. I was hesitant moving here because there are a few reviews that are bad but I haven’t seen a single roach my entire time here and maintenance responds within a day or two. I lived here for almost 2 years and I have to say it was an overall negative experience whenever I have to deal with the policy in this place. For the amount that youre paying, too many things are consistently broken, and the things they promise you at the beginning never show up. When I first moved in they said they were working on getting laundry rooms in each apartment and renovating the front area. A year and a half later I still didnt have a laundry room in the apartment, they finally finished up on the from front entrance area, the hallways still arent great, and theyve increase the price of the laundry room. Even after moving out I still had to deal with additional fees and still received emails for months about an apartment I no longer lived in. The staff isnt bad, but the policies are horrible and need to change.
