Front desk is very kind and patient with my request for specific dates for my future appointments. Dr. Rahman is friendly and thorough in explaining about my dental problems. I know that the one taking my x-rays had a not so easy time take shot because of my jaw keeps popping. She was patient about it. Liking the experience so far.

WAFD unexpectedly bought the great practice I had been going to for some time. I immediately got an email from WAFD that we would go through a 75-90 min comprehensive exam before my scheduled cleaning, despite them now having access to all my prior records from my prior dentist. Read the other low reviews here about this controversial exam and fee. If Im going to pay for and sit in a chair for 75-90 minutes for a dental practice that bought my medical information from my last doctor, then its clearly time to move my whole family to a brand new practice in Annapolis. After email correspondence with my new doctor Dr. Rahman where she continued to reiterate how she will do this comprehensive exam and the extra xrays, it became clear we now needed a new dental practice. WAFD is the first Annapolis dentist Ive gone to that demands all this extra time in the chair, and I need to trust my doctor to be in it for me instead of the billable hours.WAFD claims not to be a corporate practice, but *everything* they do is corporate from the canned responses to the cattle line through their comprehensive exam just to get cleaned. My prior dentist they purchased cleaned us himself and always had us out of there in 30 minutes, every time. WAFD clearly wants you in the chair for as long as possible.Note that they also dont take the dental insurance used by the Maryland State government, of which weve used all over Annapolis for years. That seems incredibly odd for being located in Annapolis, where all the state government exists.--------------------------------------My response to your response:Insinuating my issue is merely change is very disingenuous. Its the downgraded care I have a problem with, so we already started choosing our new dentist for our whole family.I wish you had given us a chance before forming such strong opinions about me and my practice. You never spoke with us, you never visited our practice. I have personally responded to every email from you. This is not the truth. As you said, I spoke with you multiple times over email and gave you a chance. I have the emails. I dont need to visit for you to tell me in person you are going to do your comprehensive exam yet again. Over email you chose to continue with your 75-90 min comprehensive exam and x-rays push despite you having my full medical history you purchased from my prior doctor. That is why we are not joining your practice. Its a ridiculous policy and there is no way I am going to want to spend that much time in your chair, or authorize the charges for doing it. Youre the first Annapolis dentist Ive gone to that demands this, and I need to trust my doctor to be in it for me instead of her billable hours.According to reviews here, the elderly do not appreciate your extra exam fees as well. Your statement is clearly not true. Read your reviews. Plus, why have a policy for the elderly applied to everybody?Labelling the reviewers here as a negligible sample size *might be* why you have to buy other dentist offices for new patients. All of these people (including myself) clearly had a bad enough experience with your office that they took the time to write a review. Perhaps if you changed your office policies you could do better than 3 out of 5 stars too? Hundreds of people gave 5 star reviews to other dentists in Annapolis, but that seems not to be the case for your office. That says something about your sample size as well, since there is clearly a lack of positive reviews for a 40 year practice. And why would *I* want to mess with insurance issues because you either cant or chose not to support this very popular insurance carrier? Thats not supporting Dr Smiths patients at all. Despite avoiding the dentist like the plague, I had zero issues with Dr. Smith and in your very first email you sent me a bunch of problems. When I brought them up you seemed not to care, reiterated your policies, and thats why I cancelled all of our next scheduled appointments for our whole family. I know for a fact there are better dentists in Annapolis.

Really amazing service. Jetta at the front desk is a scheduling wizard and really generous with her time and help. The dentist, Dr. Rahman, is so kind and knowledgeable. I went to them for a second opinion and they saved me hundreds of dollars.

I have been going to West Annapolis Family Dentistry for about 2 years now. During this time, I have not been happy with my care. Between the dentist giving me attitude when I asked a questions, the same dentist jacking up my jaw for a few weeks, and communication issues at the front desk, I have decided to find a different dentist. There are honestly so many dentists out there, dont bother wasting your time getting a poor quality of care here.I once got a cavity filled and I told the dentist that I often require a lot of Novocain before my mouth numbs. He told me that was because the bottom jaw is a lot harder to numb than the upper and a lot of dentists dont do it correctly. I asked him why it was harder to numb the bottom jaw and his response was I have been doing this for 30 years and I have never had to explain this before. It seemed like a pretty straight forward question to me, I am not sure why it was such a problem to answer. At a different time, I also mention to this dentist that I was having some issues with my jaw being tight and popping. I also told him that I wanted to be preventative because my Mom has TMJ. He fitted me with a mouth guard to wear while I slept. It cost $500 (not covered by insurance). I wore it for a few weeks and I felt my jaw getting progressively worse. At one point I felt like it was a struggle to even eat food. I reached back out and he adjusted the mouth guard, but there was still no improvement. I decided to stop wearing the mouth guard and after about a week I went back to the way I was before the guard; occasional discomfort, but nothing unmanageable. Side Note: I do not remember the name of this dentist, but I do believe that he has since retired. The final issue that I have dealt with is communication with the front desk. On one occasion, I was scheduled for a different day than discussed over the phone. More recently, I made an appointment as my last one was cancelled because of the initial COVID shutdown. I scheduled the appointment over the phone and went in this morning and they told me that I was not on the schedule at all. I had already decided to switch dentists before this issue, but wanted to get a cleaning since my appointment with the new dentist was not until July. After this most recent screw up, I have just decided that I am not dealing with this practice anymore and will just wait until July.Honestly there are so many dentists out there, do not waste your time with this practice. They have a disappointing level of care and clear communication issues. Find a good dentist that listens, communicates, and treats you properly. The only reason that I gave them two stars is because I never had issues with the hygienists that cleaned my teeth.

I was extremely dissatisfied by my recent experience at West Annapolis Family Dentistry for several reasons, and do not recommend this dentist.First, I was charged for a comprehensive exam instead of a simple dental cleaning that I had scheduled with a staff member on the phone. Upon arriving for my cleaning, I was informed that I would not be receiving a cleaning, and instead had a few photos taken of my teeth and am now expecting an unexpected bill for this service. Upon asking the dentist, Dr. Maria Colucciello, if my insurance would cover this apparently required exam, she snapped, I dont deal with insurance, I just charge for dental services. I spent a total of about 15-20 minutes with Dr. Colucciello, which she claimed to me afterwards was an extensive hour-long exam, completely necessary to provide me service. I wholeheartedly disagree.I had emailed over my records from a previous dentist to be reviewed.Second, the environment in the office was not a positive one. While I waited for my appointment, I overheard a staff member of authority (I believe Dr. Colucciello), loudly berating several employees at the front desk about an error of some sort with scheduling. It was quite hostile, and I felt uncomfortable listening to the blaming and disrespect that was happening, as I just sat in the waiting room. After my appointment, Dr. Colucciello proceeded to lecture me about her offices policies regarding an exam prior to cleaning, and did not seem to listen to my explaining of the conversation I had with a staff member on the phone, in which I had not been informed about the exam.Third, with regards to Covid safety, I didnt feel particularly safe. While in the dental chair, I was sitting less than a foot away from Dr. Colucciello for the entire time, and felt nervous about Covid safety. The office is small, and was pretty crowded with employees walking around. Everyone did wear a mask, though.I also would like to just say that I did feel respected and well-treated by two other staff members I interacted with during my visit. They were both pleasant and friendly and seemed generally interested in providing me with a quality service, and apologized for the miscommunication regarding the exam. I dont want to discount that, and I didnt interact with the other primary dentist. But, my overall feeling of the office, perpetrated by Dr. Colucciello, was one of disrespect and low quality patient care, and seemed that she was trying to scam me for additional money. My experience would have been improved had I been very clearly explained the process of the necessary exam up front and made aware of the costs so that I could make an informed decision of consent before having the exam. As this did not happen, I should have been not charged for this exam I was not informed about, because the error was with the staff not properly disclosing this practice when I made the appointment. If quality service and patient care are important to you, I would not recommend this dentist.I have since gone to Annapolis Dental Center and experienced night and day improved service. Dr. Dele was friendly, the office was clean and more spacious, no exam was needed, and his staff called my insurance company to ensure everything I would do would be covered by my insurance. Would highly recommend instead!

I have been going there for over 20 years. Dr. Maria is simply the best dentist. Period. And Dr. Berkow is a close second. This practice is run by professionals with not only a wealth of talent and experience, it is run by good people who care. I dont know what Kyleas experience was, but it is the complete opposite of the care I have received there over a long period of time. And on each visit, the office staff has been beyond friendly and worked diligently on working with me and my insurance company to maximize benefits as much as possible while requiring very reasonable payment and terms for what insurance wouldnt cover.. I simply cant image ever wanting to go anywhere else. Nor would I want to!

Do not go to this establishment. They will perform services on you without checking to see if your eligible or covered thru your insurance then of course your left with the BILL. And not to mention the work still isnt done. Never again

I am a 75 year old man, which means I have had alot of trips to the dentist in my life. Since my regular dentist passed away last year, I had to find a new one. I am afraid I made the mistake of going to West Annapolis Family Dentistry. They took pictures of my teeth along with Xrays, then they told me there were alot of problems with my teeth. After this encounter I went back in for the supposed cleaning. I was in the dental chair for 25 minutes. They called this a debridement. Then I had to return for what they called Prophylaxis. She poked around with her pic a little more and then she polished them. For all of this I was charged $ 620.00. When I went to my other dentist, all of this work would have cost less than $300.00, and they called it a cleaning.Be aware, this place is out to get your wallet.
