I am so impressed with the quality of service I received at Convenience Auto! They were attentive and transparent with their service and even tried to save me money on the extensive work my car required. Their team was readily available to pick me up and drop me off while my car was being serviced, and all of my interactions with their team members were very pleasant. I had taken my car to two other repair shops before going to Convenience Auto and can honestly say that I highly recommend taking your car here for maintenance and/or repair over any other shop in Ann Arbor. Shout out to Joe and Anthony! You guys are the best!

We have had to take both of our cars in for service in the past month. With easy online scheduling and friendly service, it was a breeze. Convenience was polite, efficient and easy to work with. In our most recent experience a part was supposed to arrive in 3-5 days at which time they could fix our car. The following afternoon I received a call saying the car was ready to pick up. Price seemed competitive/appropriate too.

Convenience Auto is the place to go for timely repairs, trustworthy diagnostics, quality mechanical work, and excellent customer service. Whether it be a pre-purchase inspection or pesky check engine light, I can always count on the service advisors to give me the bottom line and a fair estimate. When I came in for suspension work, a mechanic rode in the car with me to listen for noises. They brought me back to look under my car as it was lifted and pointed out the repair. When my check engine light came on, they worked with me to figure out I had the wrong kind of sparkplugs installed in my used vehicle. I also appreciate how the staff will talk with me about what’s going on with my car and help me understand - not every place will do this. If you come in, ask for Joe - he has helped me with a myriad of issues and goes above and beyond to find the problem and offer advice. Highly recommend.

My Mazda was making a noise that was kind of hard for me to diagnose. They had a mechanic ride around with me in my car (to hear the noise). Then they looked at the engine. They called an hour later, gave me a quote, and worked with me some on the price of the repair (which I really appreciated). After the repairs, they even showed me the part that had gone bad and the belts that needed replaced. It is very clear why they have such a good reputation around town. My car is back in tip top shape and I can confidently recommend this place of business.

I dont usually review, but my experience here was fantastic. After less than stellar service at the Honda dealership, I decided to give this place a try. The customer service was great & the pricing (I had to get a new alternator in my 2005 Accord) was fair. I loved that they didnt try to take advantage of me or discount my description of the problem, due to the fact that Im a woman (I recently had this issue at the Chrysler dealership here in AA). They were also super flexible/accommodating to my schedule (Im a poor & busy grad student at UMich). All in all, I highly recommend this place & will go back for ANY issues with my cars.

I came in to get my check engine light checked out, and when they called me later that day, they told me my car needed $3,000 in repairs. I bought my car for less than this amount. They also made it sound like my car would fall apart if I didnt pay for their exorbitant repairs within a month. I went to a mechanic in Detroit who only billed me $300 for a very minor repair that had nothing to do with what Convenience Auto told me about. Beware if youre a college student: this place will try to swindle you out of your money. The $3,000 car repair bill would have set me back significantly, and it was disappointing to feel like Convenience Auto was trying to take advantage of me. Wish I could give them 0 stars.

As a follow up to the below review: The owner called me directly - I appreciate that they watch their reviews that closely - and offered to take a look at the related needed repair without fee, as is normally their policy. Clearly some gap in communication occurred the first time around, and the owners response is more in line with the high level of customer service others have experienced here.Original review: Sorry to say that despite all the positive reviews, people should know that this place does commit the classic car repair shop crime of denying possible responsibility for a new problem that arose during a car repair for a different problem. I went in for suspension repair, and they also discovered the need for engine belt replacement - all this was done and paid for. Upon picking up the car, however, I noticed an electrical problem previously not present. I called them as soon as I was able to report the problem, and the guy on the phone appropriately asked, when would you like to bring it back in? We scheduled an appointment. When I arrived they had no record of my appointment, and wanted to charge me the $110 diagnostic fee for a new repair. They denied ANY connection to the repair work just done, refused to engage in any conversation about how they might be related, AND even questioned that it really was a problem (from the moment I pulled out of the lot I could no longer toggle off the recirc on the heater - this WAS a problem - caused my windows to steam up - did NOT exist before, and was likely a simple electrical issue related to disconnecting the battery that they had done and could reset). Customer service and professionalism means you are willing to see what is going on and make amends, not making inappropriate charges and refusing to engage in understanding the situation with your customer.

Convenience Auto was my choice when I got my Ford Focus in August, since which I have been there at least three times for maintenance. I trusted their service and professionalism. Now I would say I should have not sent my car there.1. I did my pre-purchase check for my car and got a nearly clean maintenance check report. It only shows there are small issues, and recommended a tire alignment.2. Last week, I did the tire alignment as they suggested, costed $100.3. Right after the alignment, when I drove my car home, I found my tire pressure sensor light was on, indicating its failure. I called Convenience Auto - they insisted that the tire alignment had nothing to do with the sensor failure, which I seriously doubt, especially concerning the timing, but they offered me a free check on this. So I went to Convenience Auto again. They did a quick check and asked me to change the tire pressure sensor, charging another $160.(1) I seriously doubt that the sensor failure resulted from the tire alignment, but they insisted they are irrelevant at all. Yet they didn’t provide a plausible basis for the irrelevance.(2) If not related, why the pressure sensor issue was not flaged in the maintenance check report issued just two weeks ago?(3) In the end, I replaced the tire pressure sensor at Costco for $50 - I will leave it to you guys to compare the fee quote.I feel I’m a fool to believe these issues are not related at all given they just happen one by one within such a short time.

The folks at Convenience Auto are the best, hands down. The vehicle that I previously owned was literally on its last legs, and my mechanic, John, helped me keep it running until I could afford to purchase a new car. Every time something new went wrong (and for a few months towards the end, there were a lot!) John gave an honest assessment of what repairs were necessary to keep my car going (and still safe to drive) and what I could forgo. He actually discouraged me from proceeding with one particularly expensive repair and said that I should save the money for my down payment! Who turns down a $600 job? Update: They actually seem pretty shady. See detailed updates below. The front desk operation is friendly. They give an impression of being experienced and competent. They are said to be Subaru specialists, and there were many Subarus in the lot.I dont have experience with any major repair. I can say that their diagnostic procedures are somewhat formulaic, and as a result can be pricey.I wanted a sort of general checkup for my older Outback, and brought a written list of questions and concerns that I thought a mechanic could go over. But they dont work that way. They have a standard service package they call Courtesy Inspection-Complimentary (which costs $55) so I signed up for that. It turned out to consist primarily of checking that my turn signals work, telling me I need new windshield wipers for $35, etc. Probably worthwhile, but it didnt really address my main concerns.I knew that I had a P0420 error code, and that my catalytic converter was probably bad, so I wrote in my notes that if they had the car up on a lift maybe they could look at the catalytic converter and see if there were any obvious signs of damage. They did that. But--that is not included in the Courtesy Inspection package. It triggered the Diagnose Check Engine Light package, which is another $110.So I paid $165 for more or less what I could get free from Midas and an oil change place.Update 4/10/17:When I wrote this review I assumed there was just some misunderstanding, and they did the “Check engine light diagnosis” in good faith. But now Ive looked at the work order again, and I see that “Check engine light” was written there and then crossed out—which confirms what I thought I remembered, that they told me the charge was $110, up front, and I said in that case I dont want that. So they took that off—but then later they added the charge back on. Why? This looks a lot like they concluded I wasnt a likely or desirable long-term customer (asks questions, reluctant to spend) so they figured, might as well rip him off for $110 while we have the chance. And, Im increasingly dubious about their diagnosis. The check engine light has only come back on when I refill the gas tank, which isnt really consistent with the diagnosis of catalytic converter failure. On the bill it says the diagnosis is based on “visual inspection” but they werent able to tell me what they saw. When I asked they changed the story and said it was really based on “monitoring.” I never really grasped what that meant, except that it was something much better than just checking the code. Probably they hooked a voltmeter or diagnostic tool to the oxygen sensors. Maybe that is all you need for a definitive diagnosis. I dont think they did any emissions test, and they didnt swap out the rear oxygen sensor (which is the one thing that would have been of some use to me.)Quite likely I do in fact have a bad cat...but their approach seems very typical of the lazy mechanic: Check the code; replace an expensive component; repeat until problem goes away and/or maximum possible funds have been extracted from customer. This is common, especially with mechanics who are used to doing work for a dealer, under warranty.Another update, 4/25/17: Convenience people said I needed new tires, and a brake job. Well, Ive just been to Belle Tire, and they said, I dont need new tires...and I dont need a brake job.I feel like a chump to have paid Convenience $55 just to get a bunch of recommendations for expensive work that doesnt need to be done. I regret having them replace a belt, and wish I had asked to see the old belt. I suspect that repair also wasnt necessary. It didnt stop the noise that I was originally worried about, at any rate.Another update, 8/22/17: The owner sent me a refund of $55. Thats nice, thank you. But the $55 charge was not really a problem. What I object to is the $110 charge for a diagnosis that I specifically asked not to get. By the way, I have no record of him calling me. I sent a letter several weeks ago, but have had no reply.

My Toyota Corolla had slowly developed an engine vibration over a few months, and when I took it to the local Toyota dealer on Jackson Road, they charged me $100 to tell me that it needed over $1,000 worth of work. Lou diagnosed the problem (a failed motor mount) in minutes and estimated the repair for much less than the dealer. Called them on Monday morning, and I was hoping to get the job done by Tuesday evening. When I called they said they were booked until Wednesday afternoon. I thanked them and then called Steve Steeb who was also booked for the next few days. Shortly after Convenience Auto called back to say they could squeeze me in on Monday.Brought the car in around 10am, it was ready by 2:00pm. The person at the front desk was cordial and patient.I stopped by the next day after having already picked the car up to ask about time periods for replacing brake pads. I told them about our summer road trip plans, he said not to worry. Asking further about when to replace, he said it depends a lot on driving style / terrain, etc., and noted that there should be a rather uncomfortable noise generated when the brake pads are getting low. Some service places will give you a document that reflects various points of inspection, ie: what the current brake pad thickness is. I did not ask if something like this was available, which I regret not asking about! All in all, I felt comfortable and satisfied with the experience. They seemed happy to take the time to answer my questions even while the parking lot and service bays were full.

I have been a customer of Convenience Auto for many years. They have always only done the necessary work, done it well at a fair price, stood behind their work and been very responsive and helpful.Barry Lonik

I have known Corky, who is one of the service managers at Convenience Auto , for over 15 years. I followed him to Convenience Auto after he started working there. While I am a relatively new customer to Convenience Auto, my experiences have been excellent. A great value for the money. The service I have received from Corky over the years has led me to trust his advice. Coupled with the good advice from the mechanics at Convenience, I will remain a loyal customer for years to come.

Ive been taking my car to the Liberty location for years with great satisfaction. Today I needed a new headlight and since I was driving by, I thought Id give the new location on Jewett a try. The people there were equally friendly and efficient - they found and ordered a headlight for me and had it installed in less than a half hour, and only charged for the light, not the labor! They even replaced a taillight at no charge. They seem to know their customers by name -- overall a great experience, equal to those super guys at Liberty who keep my 1997 Accord rolling along.I recommend giving the folks at Convenience South on Jewett a try.

Good experience. Second time at convenience auto, but first time at this location. They fit me in on a busy day when 3 other area shops couldnt (could be good or bad!) and completed the work very quickly. Well trusted for subaru work, and there were 3 other subaru in the parking lot when I arrived. Also had them recommended by the most trusted Subaru dealership in the area, Hodges Subaru. I think they are at the high end price wise, but they do provide good service. Def worth giving them a call for a quote!
