When I went to check in for my storage unit for the first time, I was greeted by Rick. Super nice guy! He walked me through all the paperwork and then took me to my unit. I had brought my own lock but it wasnt going to work, so Rick hopped in his golf cart, drove up to the office and got me one that they sell. He did it all with a happy demeanor. When he returned we ended up chit chatting for awhile. He showed me the unit which was very clean and ready to go. I feel good that the storage units are in a gated area. You have to enter your personalized special code not only to get in, but to get out too. Cameras on property also. Very clean facility. Kuddos to Rick at the S Ankeny Blvd, Ankeny,Ia location!

It didnt take long to realize Staff at Storage Mart on South Ankeny Blvd. truly enjoy what theyre doing.Ive had car washes take longer than the entire process of renting a unit took.Rick knew how to do his job which he did it efficiently and professionally. Would have been a 5 if I didnt go through a call center :( as they sent me to the wrong location (unaware of where I was directing them as they were unfamiliar with Ankeny or Iowa even) so then when I get to the storage unit I thought I rented it was not what I was told on the phone. But the manager RICK was great at helping me find a simple solution to it, even tho would have been much easier to stop in and see the unit and get the same prices than to deal with call centers that have zero idea what they are selling or even where they are sending you. I give a great thanks to the 1st StorageMart I thought I was renting at to help me locate where I was going. Even tho further than I was planning. This is no fault of these two managers. This is poor call service skills and the ability to run the facilities in our communities properly. Rick very nice, professional and a clean property. Thank you for making this an easier transition. Short version: Rick at Storage Mart is reliably easy to get ahold of.The property is monitored daily. Your camper/vehicle/garage is safe here.Long Version: I bought a camper last summer and found it extremely difficult to find a available local parking spot. It was even more difficult to get someone to even return my call for information. Rick at Storage Mart was always available during posted business hours. I didnt have a lot of experience backing up the camper yet and he gave me an easily accessible parking spot. Three weeks later, there was a derecho (hurricane strength winds) across Iowa and the camper flipped over. Rick called me immediately to let me know what happened and was very patient as we cleared up the mess during the next week. I have met some of the regulars who access their storage spots here daily. I feel like I always have multiple sets of eyes who would notice if my camper had been tampered with. I had no hesitation renting a second spot from Rick for another vehicle.

Edit 2: It seems like every time it rains, there is either a problem with the gate access, or with the building access. I’ve had to call three times to get this fixed. Twice it was within the same day, this time it happened Friday night, and was not fixed until Monday morning. The temporary solution on Saturday was for someone to prop the door open - to an access controlled, climate controlled building. I am paying for these features.In addition to this, they just increased my rent by 10%. For what? What am I paying for?? There has been enough problems in few months I’ve been here, I’ve really lost faith in the business. If I were you, I’d consider going somewhere else.- - - - -Edit: I’ve had to deal with this fella a couple more times since then. He’s tough but fair, and has quickly remedied my issues twice. You get another star.- - - - -Wasn’t impressed with the service. Tone of voice on par with Ben Stein.Twenty-four hour gate access requires a “valid reason”. Not gonna argue social anxiety as a reason with the manager that’s not wearing a mask.He says gate hours are 7am-11pm. The website and emails say 6am-10pm. Daylight savings changed the gate hours, maybe? Not sure what’s up, gonna call corporate to get a clear answer, I suppose - I don’t want to talk to that guy anymore than I have to.At least he was quick and efficient with paperwork. One star for that.Another star for a mostly clean place. Some leaves in the drive, one dead cricket and a couple stickers in the unit.Don’t know how long I’m going to keep my stuff here, but at least I know it’s safe. The manager mentioned the Ankeny Police drive through overnight.

I am going to leave two reviews here. One about the storage unit and one about the company.Pro: The storage unit was nice and clean. There are two entrances which makes it very convenient. It is gated and pass code protected. The area on a whole is very nice, clean and well kept.Con: I went to pay my bill online and it was higher than it should be. You can get a discounted price if you reserve and pay online rather than go in to the office to do so. Us, living out of town, went online and reserved and paid for the unit. When I looked at my bill I called the office to inquire about the charges and they were charging me the higher price, the one they charge for reserving in person. I explained to the lady on the phone that we reserved and paid online and we were to get the first month free and then after that the charges were supposed to be the reduced online price. She said she would get a hold of the district office and get back to me but I have yet to hear back and it has been about a week. I will be reaching out again tomorrow but truthfully I am somewhat disappointed. I realize mistakes happen but taking care of customers should be a priority and making sure your billing is correct is one important way to take care of a customer. I hope I do not have to go through this every month. I like to pay my bills ahead of time and waiting for a response upsets me.

I had the opportunity to work with the StorageMart location on S. Ankeny Blvd in ankeny! I was in desperate need for a unit that day and they made it very easy and painless for me to rent a unit and have access to it that day! The man that helped me was very nice and helpful! He even asked if we needed help unloading our items! I would definitely recommend them to anyone!

I was in a pinch, in need of a storage unit within days notice, otherwise I would have taken my business elsewhere after all this. I had gone online and reserved the size and type of unit I needed at a very fair price. The first two times I called the corporate office they couldn’t find any evidence of my reservation (even though I had a confirmation email and a confirmation number from them). Both times they transferred me directly to the Ankeny office and I got no answer (just a machine saying no one was in office). Finally the third time I called the corporate office they did find my reservation (with the correct price) and they tried to reach the Ankeny office...no answer. The corporate office had absolutely no idea why they weren’t answering and suggested I go to the office in person. I did and it was closed (well within the normal business hours posted on the door and online). I called the corporate office AGAIN and explained my situation. They said they had no idea why they were closed and started looking for units at other locations. She found the same size unit a town over for almost double the price. I asked if they would honor the price I would have gotten in Ankeny since it was not my fault the office was closed for no known reason. She said no they could not honor the price. What terrible customer service. By no fault of my own you are needing to move my unit to a different town and you can’t even offer me the price I would have gotten had your office been open like it should have been? After a lot of back and forth I went with a similar sized unit for close the double the price. THEN she says I NEED to get insurance for a medium sized unit. Okay, if I need it I’ll get it. Come to find out they had less expensive insurance options, the one I got was just the SUGGESTED package for my size unit (mind you my stuff was only going to be in the unit for two weeks so I didn’t really need a great insurance plan). She never told me about the different options for insurance, just that I needed it. The unit itself was dark, damp, and full of spiders and crickets but that’s beside the point. Had I not been in such a bind I would have taken my business elsewhere.

Prices are good I have found prices in Ankeny that are a little better and that have way better hours but this place is closer to my home and it is easier to move my things when needed. They definitely could extend their hours and definitely can lower the price a little bit.

The gentleman that helped me was very knowledgeable very kind and patient as I asked many questions. I look forward to talking to the local dealership for I called on Sunday. I highly recommend this business

I just rented a unit this past week. Have never used a storage unit before. The manager was polite & explained the procedure. The one thing I was not happy with was the floor of the unit was full of dirt. I would have thought they would be cleaned after the previous rental. Because this is my first rental, maybe this is normal.

Dont say this often, but this place actually cares, feels like a small town kind of store even though its a chain. I can call up my storage mart rep and talk to him or her like Floyd the barber.

The attendant (Nick) was very friendly, polite and helpful. He answered all of my questions, and stepped me through getting a storage unit rented. Clearly explaining the lease, and the procedures for using the facility. I was impressed with how clean the office and storage facilities were, and I felt the area was safe and secure. The Service Manager was very welcoming and open to help. When I booked there were some minor issues with the website but she was more than willing to help sort through them. Also, there were a total of 3 groups right at the end of the day and she did not complain that she had to stay past closing hours. A great experience during a stressful time with moving.
