Horrible horrible horrible!! I was accused of damaging window, bumper, smoking in car, and not replenishing the gas. I was guilty of none of the above and had to seriously get angry to get unauthorised credit card charge of almost 2,000dollars removed!! My suggestion is avoid avoid avoid!!!!!! I had to handle all of this from Indiana almost two weeks after returning.

Some of the equipment that was supposed to be part of the rental was not working and no refund was issued for the non-working equipment. Upon pickup, the company said that cleaning the car before returning (ie, car wash and vaccuum) was mandatory or a $50-$500 charge would be assessed. That was not stated upon initial reservation nor before pickup, and of course one would assume that a rental car company does the cleaning themselves as that seems normal. This hidden charge on top of their already high rates is unexceptional, would not recommend.

Not finding much user review content for Alaska Auto Rental, I thought it would be helpful to share my experience with them so far, that theyve been FANTASTIC! While Ive only just reserved my vehicle and yet to make my trip, the process was very simple and the staff (at all hours) were very responsive and helpful throughout a lot of back-and-forth, both by phone and email. To me, my rental request was going to be complicated, but this team made it seem so simple and effortless, taking an interest in my familys requirements and providing me a complete price that precisely captured our needs. Documents are sent electronically using DocuSign, so theres literally no need to waste time on arrival into Alaska at a car rental counter -- everythings been prepared in advance. This right here is the future of car rentals, and the customer experience, as Ive said, well so far, it cant be beat. [Ill update my review in August 2019 at the conclusion of my trip, to report on the on the ground aspects after I get to my destination and pick-up and return the car]. Pricing is very competitive, too. So far, I highly recommend Alaska Auto Rental -- world class service, but local in Alaska.

We rented a car from Fairbanks to drive to Chena Hotsprings last week. It was exactly what we were promised. We picked up the car after hours and signed the paperwork electronically beforehand. We were even emailed a picture of the car the day before. I was shocked to find out that winter tires are not common at all when it comes to rental cars and was very happy to find that Alaska Auto Rental winterizes and equips all their cars with winter tires as a standard. They are more costly than other car rental companies, but also better equip their cars. I really like supporting small businesses like these too. The staff were friendly and offer complimentary rides back to the airport during normal business hours.
