In the past I gave A&A five stars, but this visit left me “underwhelmed.” They charged $70 for tightening a battery clamp and doing a quick safety check (although to be fair that included “free” courtesy shuttle service home and back), called me a liar because I said the battery was hot after a trip to the valley (which was true—did they think I waited a week for an appointment because I was lonesome?), and told me I needed four new tires because they found a nail in a spot which was not fixable.There was a nail, but at the tire place where I went to buy new tires they asked why I had ordered new tires when the existing tires were fine, showed me how to read the tread wear line, canceled the $715 order and charged $25 to patch the nail hole. Grandmothers have lots of friends and hold grudges. Guess which shop This one is recommending now.

I was glad to see A & A now offering Toyota service. I brought in my Scion for an oil change and inspection after it’d sat out of commission for about fifteen months. I made an appointment request online and had the vehicle in the shop the next day. The car needs work, no doubt, and they gave me a prioritized list of fixes to help me figure out a starting point. The name of the person who inspected the car was also on the report. I appreciated that. The other customers being helped all seemed familiar with the business and happy with the work, as well. I felt like I was treated with respect and dealt with honestly and I will continue to take my car to A & A to get the fixes they recommended.

I have used The shop for over 20 years and am generally very satisfied with them. This visit service advisor not clear about that an email would be sent with estimate and fair follow-up about when car would be ready.As the car was in the shop for a day and a half with 3k of work done, a loaner car would’ve been much appreciated, especially as my work involves healthcare visits to folks in their homes.

I found The Shop back in the ‘90’s after several bad experiences at another repair shop and have stayed with them ever since. They always fix the problem quickly and also give me a heads up on anything that may need replacing soon. I really appreciated that as a single mom I had to budget carefully and save up for those expenses.

A&A The Shop offers convenient seasonal tire changeover as well as oil changes and minor/major automotive repairs. I find their pricing competitive and their vehicle inspections are both thorough and credible. You may not like the diagnosed repairs but it’s better to know and discuss vehicle deficiencies ahead of breaking down on the road. A&A are straight shooters and I like that. Professional service and good quality at a reasonable price.

Wish I would’ve asked for prices before getting a vehicle inspection.. My check engine light was on so I mentioned that, but also listed a handful of other smaller issues (one wiper blade not working, tail light out, etc). Turns out my biggest issue was blown head gaskets and the total estimate was ~$11,000 to repair everything on my 20 year old Subaru worth $2,000 at best... Obviously not worth it, so the shop recommended a Subie scrapper who took it off my hands for $400. I didn’t realize the vehicle inspection would cost $260?! So in the end I got a whopping $140 for my car and felt a little swindled since the shop and the scrapper were in cahoots... My fault for not asking prices ahead of time.. If I had more time, would’ve listed all the issues and sold it as is on FB marketplace for $800+ 🤷🏼‍♀️ Lessons learned. Otherwise A&A seems like a clean shop with mechanics that know their way around Subarus young and old.

My Subaru Forrester is 20 years old and AA has been taking care of it since the beginning. Never feels over-priced and they do such a good job of maintenance and catching things before they are a problem, I’ve only had 2-3 actual repairs in all the years. Always get a good job done at a fair price. Great customer service. We can always get appointments in a reasonable timeframe. Have also had many items fixed at no charge. One example: both of my clickers to open & lock the car were not working - one wouldn’t open & the other wouldn’t lock. I was told I needed to buy new ones that were very expensive, so I decided not to bother. During an oil change, I mentioned it to A & A The Shop when I gave them the keys. They were able to look at the connections & get both working.

I have always been happy with the quality of the service, because even the two times I had questions or concerns, the staff took them seriously and fixed them - one of them, a new windshield wiper that disconnected twice, they replaced ALL the wipers with a different brand for free. Plus, a few days ago when I took in my car for an oil change, somebody must have taken it upon him/herself to wash the driver side floor mat - it hasnt been that clean since I bought the mat 10 year ago. This business is awesome.

A&A The Shop has taken care of my 2004 WRX since warranty wore off long ago. Always professional, and always happy with their work.

We had a pretty ugly issue on our SH generation Forester (FB25 motor) involving some first-generation issues with that specific platform. Our Valve and timing case were leaking - I was only able to spot the timing case leak. A&A took the time to do the job right - checking every step of the way that the vehicle would be completely reliable for my family before calling the job done. The fix was fairly expensive, given that it was a reseal job for pretty much the entire engine, and their proactive testing identified several other issues that are now resolved. The car is running like-new - they even cleaned out the engine bay (10 years of Alaska...) and will be doing a follow-up check to ensure everythings running smoothly. In my book these are the de-facto Subaru specialists in the state, and I specifically chose this shop for this very reason.

And after the inspection was complete the gentleman that called me was extremely knowledgeable and specific in explaining what was wrong with my vehicle as well as explained the process and costs for each item of concern as well as suggested what should be repaired right away as it was a safety issue and things that didn’t need to be repaired so urgently. The only place you should be taking you Subaru to. The staff is super friendly and the mechanics are very knowledgeable. The courtesy shuttle makes early morning drop offs super easy and the owner wrote a book that is free and has lots of good information on how to care for and get the most out of your car. During the quarantine A&A came to my house and picked up my car, took it to their shop, where they changed the oil, tires and windshield wipers. They kept in close contact and returned it several hours later. It was cleaner than when it left, including the inside, which was vacumned, floor mats clean (after a dirty winter) and they performed a hospital grade sanitizing on it. THe employees were all professional and friendly, adhering to all of the recommended mandates for social distancing, etc. during this time of quarantine and precautions. What a relief it was to have this service performed, without even leaving the house! Thanks A&A....

Once again, I received excellent service for my car. You reminded me that the battery I was having trouble with was still under warranty, so no charge. And I was in and out in very reasonable time.

A&A The Shop is THE place to take your beloved Subie! I have been going there for almost 20 years now, and each time I go, whether the repair is big or small, I get great service. Now, the shop even has a courtesy car, which is a wonderful perk! This past week I took my car in for an oil change, and when I picked it up they told me they replaced my blinker light which was out for no extra charge. This local business takes pride in their work and cares about each and every customer.

I came in with my car, hopeful after reading the great reviews, to have a tune up and address a problem with the engine shaking the car at idle as well as having a broken side mirror replaced and some other minor issues addressed. They did a good job during the initial appointment for the tuneup although their communication wasn’t great. Part of the communication issue was due to communicating with both me and my dad at separate times, but it was frustrating being put on hold for almost a half hour only to be told I would receive a phone call back by the end of the day and never getting a call back then calling back the next day to be told the same thing, etc. As a customer I would like to be prioritized and kept in the loop about what is going on with my car and how much it might cost, rather than just get a huge bill at the end. They were not able to find a replacement mirror within the timeframe of the initial appointment so I made an appointment again once they found the part. In between appointments my key was not coming out of the ignition which I thought may be due to something from the previous appointment and I still noticed the idle engine shaking problem, and I asked about it when I brought my car back in for the second appointment to get the mirror replaced. I asked if they had assessed for the idle shaking last time and they said no but that they would look at it this time and let me know what they thought was going on. I called several times when my car was in to ask for updates and was put on hold again then told I would be called back and wasn’t called back until I called again hours later, to be told the key came out normally when they put it in park. I asked if they looked at anything or took anything apart or need to replace anything such as the ignition parts and they said no, but I got a $112 charge regardless. Furthermore, they decided to put fuel cleaner into my car for the idle shaking problem without discussing the diagnosis with me first, told me that they fixed it(which they didn’t) and billed over $100 for that too. They did fix the mirror which is the reason I came in for, and they asked if I would be okay with a different color, but they neglected to tell me that it would not have a defroster. They are friendly but I do not have confidence in their customer service as it was disappointing to be put on hold and not called back. I also think they have good intentions but their management is not great because I talked to them about issues with my car that they let slip through the cracks or threw things at without discussion and a huge bill at the end.

Continued friendly, quick professional service with care for the customer. I had wiped down the interior before the driver picked up my car and then watched him wipe the interior down before driving it. They then treated the interior before returning it to me. Good job!

My next car will be a Subaru too, just in order to continue to do business with this shop, which has always delivered the best service Ive ever had for my car.

Great service! I had a problem with my oil gasket, had it replaced and paid for the work. They gave me a 30,000 mile warranty on the work that was done. About 4 months later, I had some issues and brought it in for inspection. They HONORED their promise and fixed the issue in a timely manner. Plus the front desk guys are kind and professional. Took my car without an appointment and fixed it while I was on vacation. Great communication even though I wasnt always available by phone. Good explanation of what was wrong with another shops repairs that had resulted in my limping in 250 miles to Anchorage . I like to shop locally, not going to Anchorage for everything, but I am certainly going to try to do more business with A & A after this and previous similar experiences.

Over the course of several years I have chosen A&A The Shop to service my suburbs. I brought my 2009 Forester in Friday for an oil change and a look at the brakes. You said the calipers are a bit warped but the pads are still good, so you recommended waiting a bit to service the brakes and I appreciate that you made reasonable recommendations and didnt push service on me that can safely wait for a while. That gives me confidence in The Shop! The day after my oil change, the Check Engine light came on along with the Traction Control light and the Cruise control light which was blinking. The lights stayed on for about half a day then went off. I brought the car in Monday to see what that was about. You read the code and repeated a recommendation to do a hot oil flush next oil change but gave me a green light to keep using the car while watching for anything new. And you didnt charge me for the advice and check! Cant beat that! Thanks!

Sometimes busy, this smaller shop (compared to the dealers shops along the street) strives to provide a personalized experience, and we appreciate the care to attention and good attitudes shown by the fine folks like Dexter and Katia behind the desk, and all the behind the scenes workers at A&A.

I brought my Crosstrek in for some wheel damage that involved a lot of back and forth with the insurance company, and the folks here were extremely patient and communicative. Dexter even took and made a couple of phone calls on his day off to expedite the process and get me my car back a day early. Ive been coming here for 20 years and remain a huge fan.

I had an excellent experience at this shop! The staff went above and beyond to explain to me what was wrong with my old tired Subaru and they took the time to make sure I understood what was happening. I feel like mechanics often default to mansplaining and brush off my concerns but that was NOT the case at this shop, I felt valued and I trust their work immensely. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I brought my newly-bought used car in thinking that it only needed a ball joint replaced - after an inspection it turned out that there were a lot of issues that needed to be resolved to make my Subaru Outback safe to drive. The staff were incredibly friendly and understanding about my frustration with all of the unforeseen issues with this vehicle, and continued fixing my car until it was good to go, even comping me for a ball joint they replaced that wasnt the main issue. I was worried that because I dont know a lot about cars that Id be taken advantage of, but they explained what needed fixed and why it needed fixed. They communicated with me with every thing that came up, and I will definitely be going back with any problems I have. I could not recommend them more.

Charged $120 for inspection. What needed to be done according to them? $1000 worth of dishonesty. All fluids dirty? No, changed them July 2018. Coils and wires replaced? No, just needed spark plugs. Vehicle is running fine now. I agree with Ms. Mirandas rating. However, Ill give the a star for being nice. They are friendly.

A&A always does a great job and they even drop me off at work if they have enough folks on hand to do so! When they saw my head gasket leaking, they even asked me to confirm if it was under warranty first, so that I could have it repaired for free by the dealer, rather than just taking my money.
