10 + years ago...one of THE best things thats happened in my life....meeting this dog. The folks at the shelter were awesome. Good work!

This is without a doubt the nicest and cleanest shelter I have ever seen. The staff is helpful and really care about the animals. They also understand life is not always black and white and the best thing for the animal is to be in the best home. They also have basic supplies for sale if you dont have any yet.

Very clean building and polite staff. Animals well taken care of. The staff are very helpful and answered any and all of my questions. They do their best to accommodate you so you can hopefully meet and take home your new dog or cat. They also have a small section of leads, toys, harnesses, and other pet products.

Couldn’t speak more highly of this humane shelter! Was traveling across country from Cali to the east coast and witnessed a dog on the side of the hwy that had been abandoned. She was a new mom who had been taken from her pups and was very scared. After letting the dog stay with us overnight we took her by the shelter in the a.m. on a Sat. Even though the shelter usually doesn’t take dogs on the weekend, they made an exception for this sweet girl. They helped carry her in from the car and gave her a quick check up. She was adopted soon after. Everyone was kind and thoughtful that day and each time that I’ve called in. We are so grateful to this shelter.

Good experience adopting a dog and catbad experience donating food and medications. donated cat food and medication after the cat died. had more medication that they said they accepted on order so i said i would bring them in, upon returning with more food and litter was told they dont accept medication at all. staff was rude and didnt even acknowledge my cats passing.

It is a nice Animal Shelter if youre a homeless dog but not a good place to volunteer, I spent four years there and was rarely appreciated for all the hard VOLUNTEER work I did. Staff members really look down on volunteers as if we were worth less than them. They also had frequent disease outbreaks because they didnt clean properly. Albuquerque Animal Welfare is 5 stars no doubt!

I saw a dog that I liked. The dog had been there for about 3weeks. Her name was Harley. When I went up to the site on Virginia, it seems that the very young lady at the desk didnt even want to show her to me. When she finally put us into a room, although she kept insisting I look at another dog, which I did not want too, the visit was only about 10mins in which I Said I would take the dog. The lady told me she didnt like that I had a small brick wall instead of an 8 feet wall and she would refer me to another location. This is very rude considering this is the dog I wanted. She act as if she had already saved the dog for another person. Now the dog is no longer there. She was very rude and unprofessional and did not try to meet my needs. And then people wonder why we rather get dogs purchased from the street instead of adopting them

Sadly they were dishonest in dealing with us.Very disappointed. Luckily there are other shelters to work with.

Love Animal Humane New Mexico! We adopted our second dog here.The facilities are expansive and well maintained by great staff and volunteers; you can tell they really care about the animals. We had a dog already and had to do a few different meet-and-greets to find the right fit to co-exist with her, and the staff made the process very smooth for both the shelter dogs and our dog.They really get a wide variety of breeds that come through, as well as all sorts of ages (from puppies to seniors). If you dont see something that seems like the right fit for you, keep checking back on their site; youll definitely find someone.

The attendants are wonderful. The 6 month old black Terrier,Julia, was beautiful. I was given thorough instructions to care my foster pet who needed extensive medication and thherapy. However, the staff was great and provided clear instructions for the care to be given to Julia. Exceptional staff .

I went along with my brother Victor to shop for a dog. We went to the first shelter, which I hate to say was not the cleanest, and the dogs looked really distressed. We then went to this shelter on Virginia Street, what a 360 !! Beautiful well kept, no smell. My brother actually found the dog of his dreams, and named her Sasha. I live in Raton, NM and am looking for a small dog for companionship for us and our 2 1/2 year old Pit Bull Maria. I received a phone call today about a Chihuahua, but after discussing, the employee and I decided it wouldnt be a good fit for now. I definitely will be looking at this shelter in the future!!

Found 4 kittens under my shed, call the Animal Humane to see if they could help. They told me to leave them alone so they could be with their mama for a few more weeks and then to catch them and bring them in for fixing and adoption. Now the day of the appointment they refused to take the kittens saying they don’t deal with feral cats. I did what they asked me to do and they screwed me over.

Staff are very friendly and helpful. It is appointment due to COVID procaution, but the process is easy. Just fill out the application on the website. You get a phone call pretty quick and set up a appointment to view the animal of your choice. They give you the animals background about behavior issues and health. Amazing place! The dedication is outstanding and the range of events, community service, etc. is really incredible. We adopted an eight week old Pitbull puppy four years ago whod been there since he was a week old. Ive had nothing but good experiences here.I do wish they wouldnt neuter so early; we had to give our puppy testosterone shots for a while to ensure bone growth, but I do understand why its done and Im not complaining at all. I wouldnt hesitate to adopt from here again or recommend it for others.

The staff was very accommodating and helped answer all my questions when it came to adopting our new cat. They give a great service of free veterinary checkup within two weeks of adoption; partnered with several vets in the area. The covid practices are all kept and they keep all the areas clean for visitors to meet with pets. Keep up the good work!

We adopted our puppy, George, from Animal Humane on the West side. Awesome facility! We are so grateful for our new addition. Since adopting him in November, we have been taking advantage of the puppy hour at the main center and have already signed him up for a couple of more classes they offer. Its been great for him! You can even go to their website and watch your pup on their webcams. I am super impressed with their staffs professionalism and response time to all the questions I have had. We will continue to take advantage of all the programs they offer as George gets older. Very nice facilities, they have a pretty big main campus. This is an awesome organization with an awesome staff!

Ive asked around what that to go to I was given yall I see the amazing reviews but I just have one question we found a kitty in a dumpster planned on just healing her but our son has got a little attached , do yall fix female kitties free if the kitty was abandoned, or do we have to report her being abandoned then surrender her and wait for yall to fix spayed her and then adopt her? We are keeping her regardless but we cant afford the chance if she gets pregnant

This is place to go, to adopt, training,vet, with the food bank everything your looking for is there. They are safe professional and courteous. Good people, doing good things for treatment and care for all animals!!!!!

I had called about getting information on training, and maybe someguidance for lower income spay and neuter programs to help my dog, I almost gave him up. Instead of giving me any useful information on that they gave me a number on their training facility and thats it. This place only cares about money NOT saving animals or providing guidance to animal owners.

Ive adopted from here & the facilities are always nice and clean animals WellCared for, the low income clinic here is also very nice,a couple weeks ago I had to put down my best friend because she was dying from cancer, the staff was kind and caring really went above and beyond to make sure this painful experience was as easy as it could be they even let me stay with my dog until she passed away and took her last breath I can never thank the Staff enough for their kindness during such a heartbreaking time,I like that they also offer cremation so that you can receive your beloved pets ashes back with a paw print

Animal humane of NM is an amazing organization. We are extremely lucky to have them here. We recently adopted our new baby from them and we are so happy with everything. We went there twice to make sure we find a life long friend and the staff were super helpful and patience with us. They have a really good record and history of all their animals to make sure that you find a perfect match. Not to mention they treat their animals so well!We adopted Maddox (renamed Mookie) who they 1st rescued from the street then rescued from the city shelter the 2nd time. The top left photo is from when they rescued him from the shelter. It broke my heart to look at that photo I cannot believe how beat up and thin he looked. The top right photo is from after he has been with them for a couple of months, they treated him so well that he looks like a different cat. The bottom two photos are from us. He is now the new king of the house who enjoys kisses

Animal Humane runs a beautiful facility providing veterinary, boarding, and adoption services. When we decided to grow our family with a new dog friend we choose to use them. Given the reality of COVID restrictions we did not go to tour the available animals, but instead considered the availables from their website and then scheduled a time to go and visit the one we were attracted to. This worked well, as they are careful to remove animals from the website once someone has chosen to adopt.The actual adoption process was fast and they have it set up to be entirely contactless. We were in and out in 45 minutes.Our Razi (was Tommy) gives it two paws up!

I volunteer at Animal Humane of New Mexico Thrift shop. I love volunteering there, all of the staff and volunteers are wonderful! The thrift shops proceeds help the animal humane shelter and all of their animals!

My husband and I had an exceptional experience with Animal Humane NM! I applied to foster March 2020 when I knew I would be home and able to spend time with a dog or cat. We were called in September and picked up an active, exuberant 2 year old shepherd mix who was recovering from a paw injury. Over two months we got to know more about this sweet dog, his injury, his worries, and how much he needed the stability of a home. Marisa and Nallely took many phone calls and assisted with everything we needed from post surgical care, medication, food and behavioral help to help our pup heal. The veterinarians were outstanding and clearly care deeply for the animals here. This was an experience I will share with others and gladly do again when the time is right! At the moment we are new “adoptive parents” and so excited to welcome this new pup into our family.

This is the best doggie daycare in Albuquerque, or possibly all of NM. They have half or full day options. The facility and staff are top notch. I know my puppy is safe and happy when he is there. Im sooo thankful for the center at animal humane.

NO ONE WILL RESCUE THIS FREEZING DOG. I am contacting Animal Humane society about this freezing dog at Los Altos Park 10100 Lomas Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112. Please rescue this poor dog that has been sleeping by the trees at night on the south west side of this golf course. He is black and white fur and too old to be freezing like this. Thank you for rescuing animals.

I cannot say this enough, the staff at the Animal Humane of New Mexico is incredible! My fiancé and I have been looking for a puppy for months from another shelter and within the first few days of finding their adoption site, we completed an application and were able to adopt the perfect puppy! The staff is highly professional and upholds quality customer service. Before we adopted our puppy, a staff member called to answer various questions and provide information about our puppys breed and personality. Furthermore, when we arrived for adoption appointment, Emily was very kind and helpful! We could not have had a more pleasant experience! Thank you! We are so grateful for our puppy!

We adopted our current dog from this place. They are the best shelter that Ive ever experienced. We first were curious about another dog. After an interview, in which the expert asked our job, personality, hobbies, home environment, she recommended another dog that would fit with us the most. We have lived with this four-legged family almost 2 years now. We all are very happy with each other. Very very professional and we really appreciate their help. We visited this place on our 1 year anniversary with our dog, and they still remembered our dog. We are very thankful!

The Animal Humane New Mexico was great! I came looking to adopt on a Sunday and wasnt disappointed. After looking at a couple different dogs, I got lucky when they told me they had the perfect dog for me that someone had turned in that morning. Instantly bonded with Earl(the dog they told me about) and I adopted him. The staff was great with helping me out. They know their animals and any tips you may need.

The staff there are incredible. They really love the animals there cats or dogs. Theyre very knowledgeable a very kind not just to the animals but to us humans as well

What a wonderful place. The facilities, staff, and volunteers are all lovely. Having the dogs in separate enclosed rooms makes the experience of adopting so much more pleasant. No loud and smelly rooms full of dogs! When I adopted from here, they let me have all the time in the world with the perspective dogs. Dont forget, they also offer some really great training classes!

I have had a rough time lately feeding my animals and actually getting 2 extra during the pandemic. A CSM worker told me about the pet food bank. I was a little nervous going they were great never making me feel weird they also reminded me that I could go once a week and get what I needed Im very thankful for this program and if you dont need the food dont go get it donate to it I will soon as I get back on my feet. Yes I am on a fixed income.My baby girls name is Kyro, she is my GSD service dog. And she was diagnosed with German shepherd panis about a year-and-a-half ago which is an autoimmune disease in her eyes. Animal Humane was able to help us out with the medication and the exam.Sunday we went and picked up some food for her from Animal Humane food bank which is in Albuquerque on Sunday and Wednesday morning for anyone that needs it nothing like this in Utah.Be safe God bless.

I really like the ascetics of this place. It has come a long way over the years. It was very neat and tidy. They had reasonable fees. I was there to utilize the catch and release program for feral cats. It is a great program. It allows feral cats in the community a fighting chance without further populating the community.I will come back and check this place out some more and see what animals are available for adoption. The two ladies at the clinic are magnificent human beings. They make things flow in difficult circumstances and eased my mind as I dropped off my two cats to get fixed. They quickly dealt first w the animals undergoing more stress than others in a busy clinic waiting room. The process made sense and was fluid and done with competency and true care. Thank you ladies!
