Took my truck here for a transmission repair and left with a massive scratch on my hood and a filthy truck. The transmission seems to be running fine as of now but the fact they treated my truck so poorly makes me question the quality of work. Not the most comforting environment to take your vehicle. I’d look around before resorting to this garage.

Al, the owner, is absolutely amazing! He saved our vacation to Vermont. We were driving from PA to VT and on the way, we broke down in the middle of the highway. He was the only auto shop open, and I am so very glad he was! He took us right away and fixed our car within an hour to get us on the road. His family is also wonderful; they were helping out in the shop and were so welcoming and friendly. Great value. Had an emergency transmission issue and they were able to repair it with a fair value. Instead of repairing the transmission entirely and making me pay 2000+, they took an approach of fixing the most immediate issue for 150 with the guarantee that if the problem is not resolved they would refund the 150 and then get to the root issue. Great garage! I was in town from NJ visiting family and had an issue with my transmission and a warning light. They looked at my car and pulled the error codes. It was not an immediate emergency and I was able to finish the trip before getting it repaired. Honest Garage!

The Ford Service de paula charged me $150 for only diagnose of CEL. And they couldnt find it and wanted me another 550 dollars to continue the only diagnose. This guy diagnosed, found the problem and solved the problem by changing 2 sensors. And charged me $700. Most important thing is he could find the problem. He is the best that I saw in Albany. When my car broke down I towed it to a reputable dealer where they did diagnostic and came to the conclusion my trasmission was bad and they recommended a new or rebuild and it was super expensive. I then decided to call capital region mechanics and trasmission shops who were either expensive or others said they would call back to give me an estimate. And then I called Hudson Rivers Cars Inc and AL the owner was very professional and understanding. He offered to tow the car from the reputable dealer to his shop at a discount price and he was very punctual. First thing he said is that he has been working on car trasmissions for so long and he could tell my car had no trasmission issues but had another issue instead. Offcourse I doubted him because I believed the reputable dealer had done a thorough diagnosis of the car. He was right, when he did his own diagnosis he found my right front axle was disconnected from the trasmission box .He ordered a new axle and installed it and now my car runs like new . He saved me all the worries and the expenses . Handsdown I have so much respect for his professionalism ,timeliness and tone of voice when you talk to him. He explained it all, delivered and I am satisfied. I will recommend him to anyone who wants real help and real results. AL more blessings to you.

Today, my husband, daughter and I was traveling from downstate to Potsdam. We heard a disturbing noise and realized it was brake related. We googled the top auto repair shops in Albany. I was referred to Hudson River car by a friend and needless to say that I have had no problems with them. I just had my transmission rebuild by them this week and it only took about 2 days.Fast forward 11 months later transmission broke down again. Called Al and left him a message he didn’t return calls. Attempted to speak who him. Needless to say he did not rebuild my transmission properly because a year into it the transmission failed again.

So I went there for my car inspection, they poked my Car steering Chassis(in front of me) and told me its leaking , i told them obviously u’re poking it , its gonna leak, but they came up with certain excuses! After that they asked me if i want to repair it right now or else they going to fail my car’s inspection Its gonna cost $500 approximately!This situation was completely cringe and unreasonable! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANTLY OF MY FRIEND TO GO TO THIS MECHANIC AT ALL!
