My husband asked the owner to help him find a divers watch. He was a good customer for over 30 years. Here is his review. After speaking to the owner on the phone for a couple of minutes ,the owner said can I call you back in about 10 minutes I have a customer. I said ok. After waiting for about 45 minutes, I called back and the owner said Im almost finished, I havent forgotten you, I ll call you back in about 5 minutes. The owner never called me back at all. Five days later I called back and asked her why she never called me back. The owner replied that she was too busy and things were crazy at the shop. The owner neither apologized for not calling me back and was unresponsive in helping me find a divers watch. I finally gave up and decided to take my watch needs elsewhere. This is not how you treat a customer who has been loyal to the shop for over 30 years. All and all I would not recommend the watch hospital to my most hated enemy. They are rude and un professional .

Ive always had a good experience with the Watch Hospital. They have changed several watchbands for me over the years and I have bought 2 vintage watches that are still functioning well. Last month I brought in a new band for an old watch and they not only replaced the band but also switched out the gold colored clasp for silver so that it matched the watch perfectly. So much better looking now. Ill be back!

This shop stole my husbands watch! My husband bought himself the nicest gift hes ever gotten for himself from this store, a vintage watch that cost $1700. He had been eyeing it for years since we moved to Alameda.Shortly after he bought it, he realized it was not working properly. He sent it back for repairs....it was returned to him.....then it stopped working again so he had to take it back. When he called to try to get the watch back this time, he went back and forth with a man who said he couldnt find it.Today my husband spoke directly to the woman who sold it to him, who also happens to be the same woman who took the watch in for repairs. She claimed that the store could not locate the watch without a claim check. They did give my husband a claim ticket, but he cant find it.....but who would ever think you would need that as proof in a small local store, where you drop your watch off in good faith.... to the same person who sold it to you? (99 percent of stores you probably dont need to do this, but we now learned to always photograph your claim ticket just in case). The woman who he dropped his watch of to also logged his watch in to a ledger when he dropped it off for repairs, so he asked her to check the ledger to see that the watch was there, and she now claimed a ledger didnt exist and she does not log stuff in to a ledger. (I have personally seen her log stuff in to the ledger as I was there the first time he dropped off the watch so my jaw was hanging open when he told me this).I think he was shocked by this, and their conversation ended with her abruptly telling him to take her to small claims courtWe are both floored by this!!!!! How could a small, local shop that we felt so good about giving our business too be this dishonest?

I had a spring bar that I wasn’t able to remove from my watch. The friendly guy at the store was able to help me quickly and also did it for free, wouldn’t accept my attempts to pay him. Super helpful and friendly and a great Alameda business.

An old time watch hospital with knowledgeable staff who can do anything from battery changes to recalibrating and cleaning vintage watches. Battery prices are quite high compared to other places but they have been in business for several generations.

Nice guy helped me with my watch. I asked for a battery replacement not knowing mine charged itself and was just in the drawer for long since I also needed a small band repair, which he fixed for free! Many watch repair shops wanted to replace the entire band while I only needed the small holder band replaced. This guy did it. For free. Thanks!

Same as other reviews citing $20 for simple task. Just taking out one link costs that much?!

I arrived to a dude on the phone asking me to wait a few minutes. I wander around the around and see all the stuff in the cabinets it’s mostly just low value items or 80/90 costume jewelry. Also it’s a Watch Hospital none of the watches are keeping time. It worth noting that they cannot service watches past a battery replacement, no seals, no pressure testing due to the fact he told a costumer you need a new seal, and I don’t have one.The dude still on the phone, we then have to whisper.Granted I brought in a Pulsar P3 from the 70s, but the dude looked so confused at the Watch Hospital. He tries to tell me we can put in a different model battery and fix it to the watch. NO. He tried to tell me that β€œthis” is correct battery. NO. I had to pull google to get the battery. The story ends with him saying what do you want to do...take out the batteries and give me back the watch β€œsince this is not your skill level” said to come back, and he will ask his supplier.

I have twice paid them more than $20 to change the battery in a basic Time watch. Separated by a couple years, the two incidents ended badly for me. Each time there was a promise that if the new battery didnt make the watch go I wouldnt have to pay for it. And each time, for a different cobbled together reason, they insisted I play for it when the watch didnt go despite their promises. I wish Id read the negative reviews on Yelp before I went the first time. But as I hadnt, I have them the benefit of the doubt. After being mislead a second time, I read the reviews and saw how many people have been cheated by then.

They charged $20 to take one link out of a standard watch band. Did not enjoy my visit.
