I’ve been training here since 2015 and can’t speak highly enough about the quality of training, passion of the instructors and warmth of the culture. After training at a number of different gyms in the Metro West area, Mass BJJ offers kids and adults the best all-around martial arts training. Everyone is friendly, knowledgeable and ready to welcome new faces from all backgrounds. 12 outta 10 would recommend.

I have found the people who train here are very friendly and helpful. The Instructors give clear detailed instruction with a bit of humor. The classes are fun. Ive been training for 6 yrs and this is my 3rd place and is the best as of yet. Mass BJJ has such a great vibe. Everyone is willing to help me advance and there are no oversized egos.

Mass BJJ is a great place to train. Welcoming and friendly from the first time you come in. Family friendly (I bring my kids in regularly) The instructors are top notch. Classes are a lot of fun, and the other students will welcome you and help you out, and everyone checks their ego at the door. I highly recommend Mass BJJ to anyone looking for a place to train.

Despite the fact that before training here I had very little experience, was generally known to be a klutz, and was neither coordinated nor athletic, everyone at MassBJJ made me feel welcome from my very first day. Even after moving to another town, we still drive 40 minutes each way to go to this gym. People are very friendly and generous with their time to help me improve.

Although I have not (yet) tried a class at MassBJJ, both of my kids have greatly enjoyed their time there. My daughter loved her experience so much, she set up her younger brother with a membership for Christmas. At first I was a little nervous watching them try out the techniques on each other at home, but I have since observed them helping each other learn and bond over the experience. It is great to watch both of them develop these skills, find something to be passionate about, and also get out of the house to exercise. They often share stories about their instructors, friends theyve made in class, and other elements of this unique environment that they are excited to participate in. From what theyve described, all of the instructors (Nate, Scott, Nick, Mike, Jim, etc.) are patient, knowledgable, informative and provide an atmosphere that my kids are proud to be a part of.If you are thinking about enrolling your kids in a martial arts school, this is the place to send them.

I’ve been attending the fundamentals BJJ class and dabbling in kickboxing since the middle of March. It’s probably not hard to find a school that will help a newcomer put down a good foundation for their development, but where Ive found Mass BJJ really distinguishes itself is how much emphasis is placed on a highly positive culture. From their first class, a beginner is made to feel welcome and surrounded by people who want them to succeed, regardless of how humble or lofty their goals are. This is a place where the community under its roof is held just as high as the technical growth of its members.

I have trained here for years and have had a very rewarding experience. This is a well-run academy with grappling, striking and “no-gi” classes, in addition to MMA and fitness classes. Kids classes and women-only sessions are also available. The mainstay of the school is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which its founders each have been practicing for over 20 years. They have cultivated a great cadre of advanced students and assistant instructors that are wonderful mentors and training partners. I am happy to offer a 5-star endorsement!

I will never be an MMA fighter. Thats not why I go to class. But the best part of Mass. BJJ is that no one cares. I have never met a nicer bunch of people spanning all ages and backgrounds. And the instruction is top notch. There really is something for everyone here. If you have ever been interested in trying BJJ but, for some reason or other have been afraid to start, then this is the place for you.

The short version: This is an awesome school. The instructors are great, the community is great, and the stuff they teach is real and useful.Ive been coming here for four years for Jiu-Jitsu and kickboxing, even though I’ve moved far enough away that other schools would be easier to reach. This place is worth it.This school has a wonderful community. Everyone teaches eachother, they’re kind and welcoming, and they work to all skill levels. If you’re just getting into Jiu-Jitsu it’s a good place to start, and if you’re experienced, there’s tons of classes and upper belts that’ll give you the means and a reason to improve. This place is humbling. I joke that it’s my weekly dose of humility, but there’s such a depth and breadth of knowledge here, not just in the instructors, but in the other students, that you really can learn anything, if only you can find the time.

Mass BJJ is awesome. The instructors are excellent - knowledgable, friendly, helpful, always willing to answer questions, and genuinely want to get to know you. The people who train here are a reflection of them. Theyll introduce themselves, help teach you (despite the fact theyre not the instructor), and are just all around nice people.I definitely had my apprehensions walking into a new gym, and to train in BJJ which Ive never done before. But everyone makes that transition easy. I couldnt recommend this place highly enough.Hope this helps you get in there and train!

I have been training at Mass BJJ for a little less than a month and so far have only positive things to say. The gym members are welcoming to new members, the facilities are clean, and the instructor, Nate Ryan, is both articulate and patient. If you want to start training in bjj, then Mass BJJ is an excellent choice.
