I utilized PTS to study for my first Sergeants exam. The class was fantastic and I credit it for being the reason I scored in the high 90s. It gave me all of the tools and knowledge I needed to succeed. Its a must for anyone wishing to do well on a promotional exam.

I heard about PTS through word-of-mouth at work. I was hesitant to drop the money on the sergeants course but it was highly recommended by some coworkers, and they were right. To keep up with the weekly material you’ll have to forego having a social life or hobbies for a few months, but hey—if you want the stripes, you need to fight for every point on the exam, and that takes time and money. I ranked 1st on my sergeants test with the help of this course, and my salary increase covered the cost of the course in no time.PTS courses teach you a wide array of need-to-know information for NYS police promotional exams, and the instructors explain concepts using real life scenarios with printed and/or digital materials from their website and corresponding audio files in the PTS app. The instructors are retired LEOs (and at least one of them is also an attorney), they know the job, and they know the tests inside and out. You’ll learn things you wish you’d been told in the academy and you’ll remember things you were taught but didn’t know the source—it was from these guys—some of their material was ripped off and presented to you in your police academy. It’s great info not only for promotional exams but also for day-to-day applications on the job. When going through the material you’ll think back to those times on the job when you didn’t know what to do, could have done something better, or flat out didn’t know how something was supposed to work because NYS law is confusing and stupid and you’re not a lawyer—and you’ll wish you’d taken this course years ago, test or no test. Taking the PTS sergeants course added several more points to my score, and one single point can make the difference and change your career for the better. Yes, it’s pricy. Yes, it’s a lot of material to digest. But when you walk out of that exam you’ll thank yourself and the PTS instructors. Many of the questions are repeated word for word on the sergeants test. I killed a ton of highlighters while studying because every page is crammed with good stuff.My only suggestions: 1. The app would work better if the fast-forward/rewind function was more precise, and if the app would remember where you left off in a recording when getting back into the app later. I ended up hearing a lot of the audio more than once because it was hard to keep track of where I left off. It’s also hard to precisely rewind to repeat a snippet you want to hear again. 2. Digitize the study material and make it searchable for real-life applications. There’s a lot of good info I’d like to be able to refer to while on the job but finding it on the fly in the booklets (or printouts) is too cumbersome. That said, the point of the course is not to have 20 pounds of PTS booklets in your patrol bag, it’s to score higher on the promo exam.

I just recently took the entrance police exam and I could not have been more prepared for it. Firstly, I would like to thank everyone at PTS for their time and exemplary skills for preparing me for the test. They were all very professional and well mannered.PTS is the way to go. I felt extremely confident going into the exam and felt like I had an edge that very few people had. PTS truly went the extra mile to make sure that everything was explain as clearly and efficiently as possible.Their audio tapes and 100’s of practice questions were so helpful with reading along and understanding each question. Their expertise made me feel comfortable and ready for the exam way ahead of schedule. The practice questions were almost identical to the ones on the real exam and gave me a huge sigh of relief on test day.I highly HIGHLY recommend PTS for anyone and everyone. You do not even need to study criminal justice or want to be in law enforcement to study their material. PTS is for everyone and anyone. They teach you a great understanding of general knowledge based information and make you feel so much more intelligent. PTS did a phenomenal job preparing me for this year‘s police entrance exam. There was an extensive amount of material in the original course that is offered, however they went above and beyond and provided additional study material with what they called the “CRAM COURSE” The CRAM COURSE was a comprehensive pre-test practice test, as well as a live zoom review with knowledgeable, and experienced instructors.PTS sets you up to know exactly what will be asked of you on test day, so you will be in for no surprises when you take the exam.Additionally PTS also has a “Fit For Duty” program that is included in the course that provides you with all the tips, and tricks of preparing for the physical assessment that will be asked of you after taking the written exam.I fully recommend to anybody that is interested in perusing a career in law enforcement, to go with PTS, so they can aid you in preparing for the entrance examination.

If you follow the course and actually are committed to studying you will succeed on the test. Highly recommended. It worked for me.
