My daughter entered Sylvan with hesitation about her math skills. She now just earned an A on her recent report card and her confidence has gone up as well! All the staff are friendly and my daughter developed a great rapport with Alexandra. Maria worked with me to change schedules when needed and I really appreciated it!

I worked as a Sylvan teacher at the Vancouver location from 04/2018 to 09/2019, while searching for full time work. As an employee, I got to see how much the Owner, David, and the managers, Skip, Lee, and Maria, really cared about the well being of each child, beyond their scores. We would regularly discuss how best to approach individual students and deliver instruction in a way that would best serve them. When I had ideas about teaching tactics, or if I noticed that there might be something outside of Sylvan affecting a student they always made me feel heard.As a teacher, working with the students was immeasurably rewarding. I have lost track of how many times I have laughed and smiled during instruction. I have definitely gotten back more from the students than I have given, I am sure. I am so grateful to have known them. They have kept my mind sharp, and my heart full.If youre a parent, theres more to Sylvan than just scores and lesson plans. My niece is motivated to learn and succeed. She is making tremendous progress, which is discussed in regularly scheduled meetings. She has progressed one grade level in three months! My niece’s hard work (along with this educationally sound program, trained staff, and her parents’ support) is paying off. She has mastered 40+ skills in 3 months. Wow! Sylvan has helped my son improve in both math and reading in less than a year. He was in 1st grade (Feb 2019) when we started Sylvan- he was not at grade level and was learning at a very slow pace. He was receiving extra help at school as well for both subjects prior and during Sylvan but we really noticed a huge difference after he was in Sylvan for a few months. He has improved so much that he is no longer in need of help for math at school and has tested at level! WOW- we did not think that would happen so quickly for him! Sylvans instructors know how to help him understand the new way (common core) math that has helped him become so much more confident and positive about doing math! His reading has improved as well- not as much as math but he enjoys reading and doesnt get frustrated like he use to. I highly recommend this Sylvan learning center! Their staff members are awesome and so helpful- not just for students but also help parents understand where their kids are in learning and their growth.

Our Daughter always earns high praise for her behavior, attentiveness and focus in school but has struggled with Math for several years. We are fortunate to live in a good school district with many great Educators but even with additional focus and attention she continued to struggle with Math and by middle school had fallen behind. We researched several of the Tutoring and Learning services in the area and are very happy we chose Sylvan. Over the course of a semester out Daughter has improved an entire grade level in math skill mastery. Our Daughter, like any kid doesn’t always love going in for weekly sessions but always comes out of the sessions happy she went and feeling confident in her improved understanding. Our children were in the Spanish Immersion program at their public school and it wasnt working for them so we pulled them out and put them in regular classes. They were in 3rd & 4th grade last spring. When tested their English reading/writing was at a PreK/Kinder level. Since we enrolled them last Spring, in the last 8 months they are now at 3rd grade level and progressing rapidly. We couldnt have done it without Sylvan. Our kids always love going to Sylvan and now love going to school. We highly recommend Sylvan Learning Center.

Sylvan has been great for both math and grammar/writing. The teachers are dedicated and the program is awesome! My son has been able to catch up in math. Sylvan was also great during the summer. It really helped the new school year start positive.

I like the one-on-one interaction and the individual attention my niece gets. I like that they encourage her and make her feel like she can get where she needs to be academically.

Our daughter was struggling in school with reading, writing, and math. While she does have extra classes for homework assistance, they arent really tailored to her needs. Once we started at Sylvan we saw a nearly immediate improvement in her confidence, attitude, and grades. We have been very impressed with the personalized instruction, the care and dedication to the students, and the frequent and honest communication from Sylvan directors and staff. We highly recommend Sylvan to friends and family needing tailored tutoring.

My children just started with Sylvan in Vancouver. Initially, I was impressed with the assessment they did and how it is tied into their curriculum. They use iPads and teachers for instruction. The directors and the teachers are very personable and seem to really enjoy teaching my children. The parents I talked to in the lobby shared with me how happy they are with the center and how much progress their children have made since they started. Im not always the easiest person to please since I am a former elementary school teacher, but I cant wait to see the progress my kids will make at Sylvan.

My son has been attending Sylvan for 3 months now to get extra help in English and Math. He was initially a year behind in Math, and already he has improved to the point that he will be moving into a grade level class next trimester. Sylvan has helped a lot with building skills and boosting his confidence. They also went to his school and had a conference with his teacher so that everyone could be on the same page when it comes to academic goals and progress. I have no doubt Sylvan will help my son get to grade level in English, and we will probably continue to use them for things like homework help and SAT prep as my sons needs change. If your child is struggling, or losing interest in school, I highly recommend giving Sylvan a try.

I was pleased to see my daughter’s math skills and I-ready scores improve in just a couple of months at Sylvan! The only thing that I would change is being able to work on different subjects during the week when only having two sessions each week. Otherwise, very pleased.

I absolutely love the staff at Sylvan. They are great with the kids and are amazing at what they do. My daughter fell behind in Kindergarten and the staff at Sylvan has been working with her since. She’s has now caught up with grade level. My daughter loves the one on one attention she gets at Sylvan which is something she doesn’t get at her school. I can not thank them enough for all their help.

This place has been phenomenal. Our son was having a terrible time learning to read, his school wasnt helping him improve. Within 6 months of attending Sylvan 4 days a week our son had already gone up a whole grade level and here we are 18 months later and he has improved by three more grade levels- a total of 4 years of school in 18 months. These guys are worth every penny.

Sylvan in Vancouver has been the best thing ever happened to our daughter who has been struggling in school. After 6 months of Sylvan, she jumped from K level to 2nd grade. We are very happy and satisfied with her success in learning. She is now very confident about school work and enjoys. She looks forward going to Sylvan and proudly loves to earn tokens.The tutors are very understanding, and work well with every students own base. The office staff is always available to answer any questions or concerns we have and work well with out schedule. The only regret we have is not knowing earlier.We will recommend to anyone whose kids are academically struggling in school.

After my sons first session at the center in Vancouver, I asked him if he enjoyed his time. He said yes and asked if he could come to Sylvan everyday! He hasnt been attending long, but I can already see him more enthusiastic about reading! Looking forward to seeing more improvements.

We were so excited to have Sylvan back in Vancouver and have been bringing our sons for a year now. Heatherly and her staff are top notch. Real educators familiar with current curriculum giving clear instruction and feedback. The summer STEM/robotics classes were a surprise bonus and my sons are totally enjoying them.

My daughter enjoys tutoring through Sylvan, she is in the second grade and really likes the method they use and the prizes for her effort. We have seen a difference in her reading after a few months of bi-weekly lessons.

The tutoring experience at this office has been a friendly, envirnment in which to learn. Even though clients may be discussing financial matters Skip always acknowledges the students arriving by name and with a smile. And my grandson is happy he learned a new way to figure something out and [;eased with his instructor. That is the goal.My only concern has been some lack of follow thru on planned avenues of teaching but with communication I think we have tackled it. Skip is always willing to talk through issues. Over all, it is a great education!

Too many good things to say. Our son was struggling in the 4th grade, reading at a kindergarten level; he was getting extra help at school, put on an IEP, ect, nothing was helping him. The tutors at sylvan, in the past 16 months has got him nearly to grade level (5th grade). Without them I know for a fact, that our son, would still be struggling. If you are at your wits end and do not know what to do next for your child, give sylvan learning a call, it will honestly be the best thing you do for your kiddo. Seeing your child smile because he or she can finally understand; it melts your heart. These tutors will be forever in our debt.
