Hanif is the best! I used to only go to him for my haircuts. Hadn’t gotten a real haircut in a long time and I found him at Tonsor and he gave me the best haircut I’ve ever had! [updated] Unfortunate experience but polite service with the concierge. Upon arriving for my scheduled appointment I was informed that they have a strict “no masks allowed” policy. The concierge informed me that there is no flexibility in their ability to allow me to wear a mask. I am fully vaccinated but with rising recent risks I was not comfortable going maskless. This is not posted on their website nor was it mentioned to me when I called to ask questions. Had I know this ahead of time I would have gone elsewhere to avoid wasting the barbers time. I was still charged for my appointment but will dispute it with my card company. My suggestion is to update your website and customer communication to avoid a similar situation and credit dispute.*Edit 7/30/21*-I received a call back from the owner shortly after my review posted. The impassioned discussion informed me of the issues he and his business have faced during the pandemic and how impactful reviews can be. I agree that this medium does not always provide as constructive of a conversation as a direct call with management would, and to that effect I have increased my rating. However, in the moment, going to management was not a provided to me as an option so I used what was available. They further updated the disclaimer on google.Additionally, to provide feedback on the discussion; at no point was my intention to attack, disparage, or “strip food from the mouths of employees” as was projected on me in our discussion. I wanted to support a local small business, and that was unfortunately made not possible by a strict policy that was not communicated in any way prior to booking.My feedback to the business owner would be to empower your staff to come up with solutions to situations like this in the future. Preventing against theft is completely valid and understandable. If someone would like to continue to wear a mask for their health, and support your business, perhaps give the option to unmask and face any cameras in store so the face is fully exposed but only for a brief time or request ID. Also have your staff offer your contact information if someone has an issue so the conversation is enabled with you rather than telling customers there is nothing else to be done. Finally, if you call a customer wanting to talk about their review and ask for them to adjust it, listen to them without making accusatory and incorrect judgements or attacking their character. Try to make it a positive interaction

Went there last year a week before my wedding in August 2020 and they were great. Very professional, great value and one of the few that would do beard trimming at the time. Will go back again.

Great fade and shave work. Uneven haircut (asked to fix it once- still wasnt even). Very uncomfortable conversations by the owner - making fun of other local small businesses, speaking about women in a patriarchal/stereotypical way, and talking about different nationalities in a very stereotypical and xenophobic way, etc ... I was very uncomfortable. (It was all loudly spoken so everyone could hear...) And, before the mask mandate was lifted- they did not required anyone to wear masks - I mentioned I was fully vaccinated -two doses (like, maybe thats why no one was wearing them) and the owner made fun of vaccinations (oh yeah, Ive got my third one, haha). I will not be going back or recommending this place - which sucks- because I really want to be supporting small, locally black- owned businesses.... 😔

Piankhi is an amazing barber. His style for fading my beard and sides of my head are perfect. Hes good to just chill with too. I think thats equally important. He came in at 6am for me because of my crazy schedule and was cool and ready to get it done! Ive had 2 haircuts and beard trims by him and Im impressed. Hanif is rad too and I did my hair once the first time I was in and it was on that same level but a little different to their style of cutting hair I think. I will be getting haircuts from them for a long time coming. Good work guys.

Hanif knows what he’s doing. The staff is phenomenal; Austin at the front counter was quick to ask if we needed water or anything. The atmosphere felt clean and open. Wonderful experience for my teenage son who is a little shy. Made an appointment with Hanif for a haircut and shave and after we left, my son, who hasnt allowed anyone to touch his hair for over 5 years, thanked me for taking him. He said Hanif was a really cool guy that was interesting to talk to. Hanif gave my son pointers and advice on how to shave his face, and he really appreciated that. And because of this experience and sitting in Hanifs chair for an hour, my son left feeling confident and proud of himself and seemingly wants to take better care of grooming himself (and educating himself more after listening to Hanif talk). Hanif has skills. I havent needed a new barber for several years but when I needed to find a new one, I tried here first. I am really glad I did. I didnt really know what I wanted, but he hooked me up with a great cut and beard trim.
