Super chill spot. Barbers are extremely professional, knowledgeable, and make you feel immediately comfortable. They take their time and don’t finish until everyone is more than satisfied with their cut. I got the best beard trim I’ve ever had here. Will definitely be coming back as long as these guys are around.

Absolutely the best place I have ever gotten my hair done! The barbers are very talkative and engaging, and the whole room can easily fill with laughter over the smallest of things. They even have a refrigerator with refreshments, for both kids and adults, available while you wait to be taken care of! The whole room is their customer, rather than just the person in the chair at the time, and it brings back the social aspect that humanity seems to be slowly losing.If you have never been, I would heartily recommend them!

My appointment with Steven left a lot to be desired. I was coming in with long, shoulder length hair that Ive invested a lot of time in. I was wanting to keep length on top but shave a bit on sides for an undercut. I felt not listened to, and left with a haircut I do not like. Steven had the chair turned away from the mirror and when I asked for it to be turned around so I could see and provide more instructions and he did not want to do that. After 2.5 years of growing my hair out, I felt not in control and not listened to. Steven also was not wearing a mask properly and his colleagues were not wearing a mask at all. Definitely wont be going back.

Hairway to Steven is the best Barbershop in the Baltimore Metropolitan Area!For the last seven years, I have been getting my haircut at least every other week, if not more frequently. Ive been to Barbershops all over the United States, and a few overseas as well. I had not found one quite to my liking or particular taste. That is, until I found Hairway to Steven. I have now been to Hairway to Steven twice. Steve and Charlie are both Masters of their craft. They work diligently to achieve perfection in each one of their customers haircutting needs. They are both friendly and respectable to all of their clientele. Truly, they are upstanding gentlemen. I plan on coming back to get my haircut by them, for many years to come. Additionally, the decor and atmosphere of Hairway to Steven fits my taste. If you like good books, energizing music, and a local feel, then Hairway to Steven is the barbershop for you!

The rumors are true, this is a great haircut.Heres the deal with going here though:Go in and out your name and number on the white board and be ready to wait a while, its always busy. They will call you when youre almost up and you can come back at that point. You could also just hang at the shop if there arent many names on the list. This may sound complicated, but honestly its not if you know what to expect.Another option is to make an appointment for an additional $9. If youre crunched for time you can call and do that.Dont call unless you really need to. They dont have someone who answers the phone, so when youre calling someone (probably Steve) has to stop cutting hair to answer it and if its your butt in the chair youll appreciate it when no one calls. If youre trying to find out what the current wait time is, dont bother because I saw a guy call and the wait at that point was 30 minutes. Immediately two people came in the wait went up. The guy on the phone was at the shop in less than 10 minutes and the wait was now over an hour. Justin show up and scope it out.Anyway, I this the prices are great, the haircut was great, and once you learn how to navigate getting in the queue its really pretty easy.

I went in today for my first hair cut after moving in for college. The owner has some really good tastes - the shop looks awesome and has some great decor. The business is cash only, which I hadnt realized till I walked in, but the guy cutting my hair - Spencer - let me pay with Venmo. The guys here are really friendly, and Spencer did an awesome job with my fade. Im so glad to have found a great business so close to campus! Will be back soon.

Steven has a great shop. The gentleman here are skilled, friendly, and it shows as they are busy. Be sure to call ahead or walk in early to get your name on the list for the day. They will shoot you a call when they are doing the cut before you. If you need a quick cut right at the moment you walk in, this isnt the place for you. If you need a great cut sometime that day, then this is where you should go. Fair prices and good service.

Quality haircut, straight razor cleanup, great casual atmosphere.These guys take pride in their work and it shows. They take as much time as needed to get your haircut right. I get compliments for two weeks every time I go see them.You can book an appointment for a little extra, or you can get on the board. To get on the board, swing by the shop and write your name on the whiteboard. Theyll give you a window and a call a half hour ahead of time. Make sure you get there before your half hour is up, because theyll move on to the next person if youre not ready to get on the chair when its your turn, and youll have to wait.Waiting there, as it turns out, isnt the worst way to spend a little time if youre not in a rush. Theres good, honest conversation, an interesting reading selection, and they dont mind if you have a beer or eat while youre waitingClass act all the way around. Highly recommended.

I got a haircut there for the first time two weeks ago and very much intend to go back. The haircut and beard trim I got were very good. Charlie is pleasant and very professional. The system of writing your name and number on the board and waiting for the call half an hour before your turn is something I will have to get used to. From all appearances they are very busy.

Highly recommended if you havent tried it. Wait times can be pretty long though. They have a system where you come in write your name on the board with your phone number and he will call you once you are next up. They spend party time giving you what you want and making sure its right.

Always get a great cut here for a good value. This is an old-school barbershop; theres no TV, but plenty of good tunes and discussion of whats going on in the world. Yes youre going to have to wait but it is worth it. If you cant wait at that moment, leave your name and number on the dry erase board and theyll call you when youre next up. (They do appointments now but thats an extra expense.)Ive recommended them to many people and all have been pleased with the service theyve received.

I had an awesome experience at Hairway to Steven. I read the reviews and realized I might need to wait- so I allowed myself a little extra time. Frankly, the extra time was well worth the wait. I had a beer, listened to some great conversation and offered my opinions as well. We talked pizza, beer, home towns, car accidents and more. I suggest that instead of freaking out about the wait, you either hang out and enjoy yourself or go to Barnes and Noble, World of Beer or take a walk. Chances are you probably need it.The haircut is well worth any wait you may experience. Ive never had anyone spend as much time on my hair and beard as Steve did. He paid attention to every detail and took the time to ensure my haircut was 100% perfect. As long as Im in Towson or the Baltimore region I wont go anywhere else to get my haircut.

My barber moved out of state after 4 years. I had heard of Hairway to Steven years ago, read the reviews and went. Steven did the cut and was great. Ill be back and I highly recommend this barbershop.

There are two barbers currently at this location, Steven and Charlie. Both do an excellent job with cutting hair and trimming beards/mustaches. Walk ins will need to get there very early as they normally have a long list. Making an appointment costs an extra $10, but can be worth it.They only accept cash as a form of payment.

I went in at 12:30 pm to get my undercut touched up. I was told to leave my name and number, and that it would be about an hour - hour and a half wait because there were people in front of me. After not hearing from them after 2 hours, I called back and left a message. They did not call me about my appointment for FOUR HOURS, and all I needed was a touch up that wouldve taken 5 minutes. So I dont know if theyre good or not, because they were too unprofessional to call me in a timely fashion.

Steven has been my barber for years now. The guys at this shop do top quality mens cuts, both classic and contemporary. The shop itself has great atmosphere, and it is an excellent place to kill time before your cut having good conversation, doing work, or even drinking a beer. The thing that keeps me coming back despite living 30+ minutes away is the attention to detail that these barbers have. Rather than fit a cut to 30 minutes, the barbers at the hairway will give your haircut the time it needs to be perfect. I highly recommend this shop. If youre a stickler for wait times then get in early or make an appointment. Its worth it!

They have comfortable sofas to relax, books to read, and the radio to listen. If you get bored, you can walk to the unlimited stores in towson.Tip, get in there early and write your name down, or call and make a reservation (for a fee).Oh and charlie always seems to give a shave with hot foam after every cut. Never met a barber that does that. Awesome.

Moved to the area and didnt know any barbers. Lucked out finding this place, the guys take their time and do a great job, and Im real fussy about haircuts. You can write down your phone number and they call you when its your turn. Highly recommend! Ill never go anywhere else!

I just moved to the greater Baltimore area and was in search of a good barber. Steven was referred to me by a friend and I am very impressed. Will definently come here for years to come. Only drawback is that he is very busy on weekends -- walking in is sometimes difficult but you can stop by in the AM and add your name and # to the wait list which is very helpful.

Good cut , friendly, and prices are comparable. Only downside is theyre understaffed. This makes it hard for a walk in unless your are local and can come back at a later time. Appointments are extra but worth it.

Passionate about hair

I can say I actually hate getting my hair cut. In the last 10 years I have only found one person that could cut my hair how I wanted it. Due to the reviews of Hairway to Steven Barbershop I decided that I would give it a try. Worst thing would be I dont like the hair cut.The shop is pretty small, only two barber chairs. Though the decor and atmosphere is nice. Classic barber shop kinda feel. I had Steve cut my hair. We spent about 5 minutes just talking about what I wanted with my hair. He asked quite a few questions to make sure that he would get me the cut that I wanted.During the cutting process, we chit chatted and Steve broke in to song with the radio a few times. It was a good time during the cutting. I finally got to see my hair. He did it. Got the exact look that I wanted. It is just perfect. Then he used a straight razor on my neck hair.So here is the break down. Great little shop, Steve gives a fantastic cut and the price is very reasonable. If you are thinking about going, go. I know I will be going back.
