I arrived at 2:15 for shampoo and blow dry and was told I was too late. Before that I arrived at 2:30 and was told it was too late because I wanted my hair colored, if it had been for anything else they wouldve been able to service me.It seems that unless you go in AM ONLY are you attended toThat is ridiculous

It was a great experience and the gentleman did a fast and fine job on the cut. I would suggest giving these students a try.

It is a good place with nice people but it is a school and it takes hours to get a hair cut. I got here at 10:30 and left at 1:30. That is to long.

The teacher that was teaching the students was very aggressive. she kept pulling my hair and wasn’t very respectful to either customer or student. I had a big headache because the teacher was pulling my hair very aggressively. I was very unsatisfied with the service.

A very warm atmosphere with fairly kind people!Incidentally, my first visit was a disaster, they left me hurt and disappointed. I went for a texturizer, rinse, and trim; I left with strait dry hair (no wave/s pattern), spotted and engraved rinse into my skin (for which they couldnt clean off), pushed back side edges, and a back head merely shaped. Oh, not to mention that I had to wait 15 mins. after the application of rinse and blow drying because they ran out of beigen. Then they did it all over again ... I came in this place around 11:21 A.M. and left about 3:55 P.M., Im a diabetic and hadnt been able to eat, yet had to ingest the smell of beigen while under the dryer. Look at the pictures and tell me what you think. To make matters worst, I asked for a discount (of the $48+) and they took off the cheapest item (the $3 haircut) insisting that I pay $40. I was in disbelief, but paid anyhow seeking to do whats right. Moreover, this was a bad experience for which I wouldnt desire anyone. After pleading with the gatekeeper, they finally agreed upon that I could come back for restoration; however, nothing was put in writing so Ill have to see! Oh, it would be robbery not to mention that there was an African American Barber with braids that was cutting every ethnicities hair with precision, I wanted him to cut and trim my hair. This couldve made a big difference and its something management should consider. Let each trainee that has honed their skill contribute it to whatever need of a customer, not let a unskilled barber trainee simply work on a client where they have not developed. I understand theyre training, but make sure theyve read the book, worked on some doll heads or even some simulations before just throwing them out there. This is not a confidence builder nor a good learning experience principle! Apply the gifts and skills where they fit and everyone will be satisfied.

Yerrrrrr I’m a recent graduate and I would live to say that shear excellence hair academy was the best move for my life and my career choice . The instructor B.A.M makes the barbering program so worthwhile . He’s patient , reliable , trustworthy, & honest. As long as you want it he’s there to teach it . Without Luis I wouldn’t have gained the knowledge I did in my course . Highly recommended for barbering and now they offer mater barber classes ! Take advantage and get in there while you can ! Horrible. I explained to them exactly what discouraged me previously while signing into school and they were no help not even the owner. Unprofessional and poor services. I believe only the people who went to school here have something positive to say about it. They were no help. Even though they said they can help and it was more than joust getting my ged and high school info because I already knew I needed that. I was told some one would be able to help me and I was thrown in circles on getting the help. Someone told me to call the main office and I called the same number listed to call. If anyone is going to pick up the phone they need to know about all of the info about the school in case no one is avail. I even spoke with others last week that kept throwing me in a circle!

I was VERY pleased with the services I received. I will admit I was a bit skeptical at first because the woman doing my hair did not speak English and tried to use a wet brush on my very kinky/curly hair but there was an Afro-Latina woman who provided assistance by helping to translate. I had my hair washed, deep conditioned, blow-dried, and pressed all for $30!I would do it all over again to save me the time and trouble of doing it myself!

The owners , teachers, and students are extremely courteous and they have done an exceptional job on every service Ive ever received. The service was great. I had my hair relaxed a few weeks ago and have not had to flat iron it very much. Mekhi was very professional and took his time to make sure I was good. I would reccomend him and the salon to anyone.

Advice:Speak Spanish.Bring your own products.My shampoo style was 45$. thats more than Ive ever paid at any other school Ive ever been to and I go to schools a lot. This place is so ghetto!! They said that my hair was longer than it was. she quoted me $15 over the phone and then when I went to the school she said 25 + 20 for the length. My hair stops at my breasts. I will never be coming back here again and would not recommend at all.The people here are mostly Latin and African American.Students have to buy their own products. I saw very little professional grade products. This place is ghetto. Had to find translators a lot. Even with Google translate. I dont think one of the teachers spoke English.Upside: My stylist(yoelsy) was kind and patient with me. But I am not happy with my hair. It is very stiff curls.

Been going here for a year now. I have long hair and I like to have my head and neck undercut. So I get a womens cut then go to a barber student for the undercut. Teachers are very good with the students showing them texhniques. Its a fun way to allow them to learn the skills they need and I get a cheap well done haircut!

The hair cut there was amazing. But takes a little while, but it is worth it. Barry is the barberthat cut my hair and he is a funny guy, great for entertainment.

Went to Brandon location for cut and color. Pros: No line, no waiting. Cons: Didnt ask me how I wanted my hair cut, assumed I just wanted a trim, Had to listen to 3 hours of someones Pandora rap music, students didnt seem engaged with their clients, hair was washed and rinsed with cold water. Dont plan on going back there and would not recommend to anyone.

Went to this place got a color on my hair from blonde to brunette I left and it looked fine went home slept woke up put on a bathing suit went to the beach and it was green theyre telling me I did something to it and I did not theyre telling me I have to pay to have it fixed I spent $50 there including tip to get this done this is the worst place no one speaks English they all speak Spanish which is fine with me but dont try to tell me at 50 years old that I did something to my hair and that I have to pay to have it fixed when clearly your school screwed up do not go to this place do not do not do not they dont even have the courtesy to try to make it right they want to charge me a regular Salon wouldnt do that this place is a rip-off

Terrible. The first thing I saw once inside was fresh blood on the back of a mans head while having his hair cut. A small knick, but still. And if youre wanting to grow your hair out and just need a maintenance trim, (like me) this isnt the place for you. $1 haircuts, you sure do get what you pay for.

Uuffff... after waiting for assistance over 20mins on hold and my call exchanged to three people and kept putting me on hold last week finally the actual facial teacher made appointment .. soooooo... once I got there and had to raise my voice since no one was at the counter a nice gentleman told me no services today... i laughed and said but I made the appt w/ teacher.. a young woman told me that the teacher couldnt reach me and I had to reschedule for another day.. sorry to say but thats not away to run a business. Sit and wait for my rescheduling... I shouldve seen the reviews before wasting my time.

A disappointment. If youre truly passionate about haircoloring, hairstyling, and/or makeup, this is NOT the school to go. Dont let the tuition fool you. This school will claim you learn the basics of all the aspects of cosmetology, but in reality, you really dont. Youre honestly better off going to the other beauty schools when it comes to cosmetology. This school has 2 campuses; Tampa and Valrico. There is a MAJOR difference between them. The Tampa campus is a lot more appealing. Unlike the Valrico campus... it is outdated. Whoever is in charge, doesnt keep up with both campuses equally. It is VERY obvious. Ive visited the Valrico campus. The students there are energetic and eager, yet it seems that they arent given good equipment. Went to get a pedicure there before... poor students. Looked to the corner, where the nail polish is located and they have 3 little stands on wheels that should be used to place their implements, that are broken. The nail polish seems old. Even the flooring looks rough. I had to ask one of the students there, and I dont blame that student. You want the truth, and I was given the truth.I know its a school, but even the other schools around have BETTER supplies for the students to use for the clients. It should be comfortable for both the students and clients. The cosmetology instructor (Darlin I believe) is always welcoming, as well as the barber instructor. Nothing against those 2 at all!I was thinking to study here, until I had came to get a service done. Ive visited other schools nearby (Empire, Paul Mitchell, Irwin) and this school is nothing compared to them.I hope this helps anyone whos looking to find a good place to study cosmetology because you should be getting the right education and fundamentals of cosmetology. Even if its basic, you still should be able to feel like youre getting something out of it. But... I dont think this school meets those standards.

Totally unprofessional. I came in at 4:00 p.m., and asked if the students were cutting hair. I was told by a male employee that they were, and that it would be a few minutes. I guess we have a different perception of what a few minutes mean. It is now 4:52 p.m. as I write this review, AND NO ONE has even checked w/ me as to an explanation, and/or Information as to why its taking so long.Avoid this PLACE AT ALL COST.

I actually went to this school when I started it was all great until they fired my Spanish teacher and thats when everything went down the drain teachers there s..... they dont even know what they basically doing at one point I had ask for help and the teacher basically took half the eyebrow off the kid.If you go here you wont learn nothing best believe that they just there to get paid not teach plus this school takes your money and lies about a lot of stuffs.Finacial aid dont even know about finacials just saying the thruth.I highly recommend Benes academy or Summit academy real good and the teachers actually teaches you somethings.Well thats my recommendation.....

A learning center for future stylists that has a facility equipped with everything to fulfill its functions. The teachers have a high technical level that guarantees learning. As part of the training, the population is served at a very reasonable price.

Today I arrived before 3pm to close the store and the lady who is in charge of that site today was very rude to me and my children who were the ones who were going to request the service and she did not want to attend us, The stylist had already accepted us and she rudely took us out of the place because the closing time was approaching. Before there was a very attentive and helpful Mr. Not that rude Mrs. and of little treatment to the clients. It shouldnt cater to the public. It is LOUD !!!
