I was interested in Schmalz’s since we have the same family name. I ordered a variety of sausages and liverwurst.and cooked the sausage for yesterday’s 4th of July celebration. I liked all of it and it brought back great memories of growing up in Germany. I considered the food to taste excellent and I appreciated Marissa helping me get my order together. Will definitely buy again.

Great assortment of meats as well as other Polish foods and sweets. Cash only and bring a sweater, its cooooold in there 😀. Prices are VERY good compared to other places.Ive lived in Springfield for 20+ years and just now found out about this place, shame on me!!

I grew up eating polish sausage. For the Christmas meal, I thought Id try a real kielbasa for the family get together. The difference between regular store bought sausage and the Schmaltzs is night and day. The flavor is amazing! My family is of German and Polish decent. Everyone raved about the delicious flavor. Ill never eat another brand. Excellent!

Friend gave me your kielbasa. Did not taste any smoke or garlic. It was more like a very salty hot dog. Uniform. perhaps triple ground.

Just absolutely love going here to buy the kabasi pierogies and all the other goodies they have that are Slovak. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for those items

The best kielbasy you can buy. My whole family loves it. I have bought it at Corraddos in Wayne in the past, but couldnt find it the last few times I was there. I would always buy at least 2 of them. I will take the drive tomorrow to the store in Springfield to stock up. I will have to try their liverwurst and bacon as long as I am there. Nice story of how the family started the business. An American Dream achieved..

The kielbasy is the best I have found anywhere.I used to think that the best bratwurst had to come from Milwaukee or Sheboygan, WI.Then I was offered Schmalzs brats...I quickly became educated, Schmalzs is where its at.Schmalzs slab bacon has the delicious smokey flavor that I look for and none of the overpowering salty-leave you thirsty for the rest of the day-after taste that the other brands have.I have found the personnel @ the retail store to be very polite & helpful.You cant beat the taste & you cant beat the prices.If you enjoy traditionally made German meats, your mouth will thank you for shopping here.

A small market with European meats and small grocery. Fresh brats, hotdogs ect

Walking into the refrigerated room of fresh made products is like taking a trip to Eastern Europe. The fabulous cool air filled (make sure you dress warm for this refrigerated shop) with the pleasant smoked meat inviting smells welcomes you back in time to when there were Butcher shops like this in every town. From racks filled with delicacies like liverwursts, headcheese, bologna, krakowska, kabanosy, frankfurters of several variety, knockwurst, bratwurst and on and on. The butcher case is filled with several varieties of predominantly pork and with some other meats ready to be hand cut by the butcher. Also, the coup de gras, for which I enjoy most, is the variety of KIELBASA! Perhaps some of the finest anywhere, not only America, but the world! The hams smoked on premise is also of the finest quality and taste. If you had to choose two products, the ham and kielbasa are definitely well worth the trip to this shop. The majority of products are produced on site and a good variety of European products are available as well such as sauerkraut, canned delicacies, mustards, horseradishes, pickled products. If you are of Eastern European descent and wish to return to the flavors of your parents and grandparents you will not be disappointed. For those uninitiated, one trip here and you will want to put ski at the end of your name. Just a note, much like old time shops, cash is the only form of payment accepted. You will be pleasantly surprised by the prices as well.
