Been to Builders Surplus twice. Both times I was not a knowledged by store associates. If i needed help, I had to go seek somebody to get the help that I needed. On another note, their selection of bathroom vanities is stupendous. I needed a vanity with drawers on the left and they had it when other stores only had drawers on the right. Amazing how deep their selection is. Dont necessarily like their sales policy of no refunds, all sales final. I wonder how they would treat you if you special order something and it turns out that something is wrong because of their screw-up. Will they make exceptions in the interest of keeping the customer happy?

This place is crazy!! They had a HUGE assortment of kitchen and bathroom counter tops, cabinets, vanities, sinks, etc. I even found perfect garage cabinets that were reasonably priced. I was able to customize the vanity and top that I needed for my bathroom! The laminate counter tops that they offer are of MUCH better quality that what I saw at Home Depot and also reasonably priced! It takes a minute to figure out theyre system but they were very helpful. We placed our order with Jose, paid for it, and then they send you to another area where they inbox it, let you inspect it, reward it and load it onto your trailer or truck. No returns or exchanges but if you know what you want, the prices and the ability to customize make it worth it. Will be back there again!!!

Love this place!I came on an unlucky day when a power transformer out on the main road had gone out. The entire block had no electricity.No problem for BSI! They were working hard to make sure everyone still got what they needed.The workers made sure to confirm all of the pieces were in perfect condition, then they loaded everything into my car for me.My new cabinets are gorgeous.I’m a customer for life now.

They have a huge selection of kitchen and bath cabinets and countertops and a range of quality levels. Its mostly the quality of the big orange home store but they specialize in take it now product. Its great if you need popular sizes, but a less common size counter is very hard to find. For example, if you need a 54 vanity, you may find a few, but you have to search them out. If you need a 48 or 60 its easy to find.Give yourself time to walk the building and find the size and style you are looking for. It may take a couple of hours unless you know exactly what you need.As for the price? Dont expect to save a lot of money. Remember, they are similar to home stores.

I love the deal I got on a floor clearance package. $998 for 76 floor kitchen cabinet in a slate blue color with 3 white wall cabinets all with the same shaker style. Its nice to get something that is French dovetailed on the drawers with the glide stops on the drawers and no only plywood not compressed wood. I love the quality and the $998 price included the hardware and they helped us pack everything nicely into the pickup truck. Cant wait to set it up tomorrowI love the way these cabinets look, they go well with my eclectic design in my Airbnb apartment and all my guests love the kitchen cabinets. Builders Surplus should put me on the payroll with all the referrals Ive given them LOL. When I renovate my downstairs apartment Ill check them out again

BEWARE!!! Double Vanity sinks do not line up to center of sink base doors, 2 inches or more off-center. So, do you line up the mirror and lighting to the cabinet ? or do you line up to the sink.? I choose to line up everything. HOWEVER, they DO provide Special Order Option if you are willing to wait 5-6 weeks, so plan ahead! Other option is buy the sinks from them and have a stone fabricator make and install countertop in as little as 2 days, like I did.

Great selection and reasonable prices. Two main concerns: you pick up the items and they are NOT either refundable or returnable. Buyer beware! But you are likely to find what you need or something similar. Closed Sunday and Mondays and limited business hours other days.

There is still a line outside the door to get in but once you are in it is same as normal. The most complete place you as a homeowner can go to purchase cabinets. They have many different styles and they will sell them to you in pieces or in sets. All of the prices are available right at the display no mood to wait or email for particular pricing. If you purchase anything they will load it for you BUT the buyer is responsible for strapping it down. Just like a lot of these type of stores All sales are final NO RETURN or EXCHANGE plus they are still cash or check also debit. NO CREDIT.

This is the worst place to shop. We bought three vanities in the amount of $6000 cash from this place and couple of them were wrong sizes due to plumbing issue. However, the sales representative and the manager agreed over the phone and in person that they will make this one time exception as long as we will exchange for item in equal value. After few back and forth visits and phone conversations, we finally went with the vanities and that time they completely flipped on us and said that they will charge $200 for re-stocking fees on each vanity. I will never recommend this place to anyone. They are rude and unprofessional especially the WAREHOUSE MANAGER at this place. They dont even know how to respect elderly. They disrespected my father who is a heart patient. I wish people had some courtesy these days. The worst thing I heard from any store in my life was when the sales representative said and I quote if you cant get the measurements straight then dont come to this store next time. They obviously need to spend some time in customer service training.

Great Experience! I cannot say enough about Carol, Collin and Carlos. All three are competent and efficient at their jobs. Carol worked with me to find the perfect vanity, sink and mirror. She had a positive attitude and was very honest. Collin and Carlos work on the loading dock. When they unboxed my vanity for me to look at, there were a few flaws so both young men got busy fixing the minor flaws. They were courteous, helpful and paid attention to the details. It was refreshing to find three young staff members that were outstanding at their jobs!!!

My wife and I had an amazing experience shopping at Builder Surplus at 2960 Olympic Industrial. So, I took on a major window project that involved replacing my old wooden windows with new vinyl windows. I had my correct measurements, so I thought and headed to Builder Surplus. I purchased four windows and drove home to start on my project. I removed two windows with out rechecking my measurements and discovered I purchased the wrong size. Now, if you frequently shop at Builder Surplus like I do, you’re aware of their no return or exchange policy. It’s clearly stated at the check out counter. I had no agreement what so ever. So, my wife and I decided to drive back to Builder Surplus with the windows we purchased in new condition and humbly explained our situation. Mr. Tim and Mr. Gene showed us extreme grace and understanding. They worked it out so that we could get the correct size with no extra cost.Thank Tim, Gene and Builder Surplus!

This place is in serious need of updating their severely antiquated processes and obtain a software package to streamline their 1960s way of running a business. I browsed the showroom and picked out my bathroom vanity and countertop. Then I waited to talk to a person behind one of the stations to inform him of my selections that were marked In Stock. He needed to contact a warehouse person to check if it was really in stock and that it would take about 10 minutes to verify. Since it was not in stock I went with my second choice and then had to wait again for confirmation if it was in stock. I then waited about 45 minutes in line outside the warehouse to pay for my items with my debit card since they do not take credit cards (perhaps because you can contact your credit card company when there is a problem). I was then instructed to pull my car into my designated slot. They brought out the items so I could examine them since they do not take returns once you leave with your items. There was a chip in the countertop and they did not have another one so I had to go back to the showroom and talk with someone about other choices. They did not have my third choice in stock so I decided on a refund so it was back in line at the warehouse for another 30 minutes. I presented my invoice to the cashier, he did his thing to verify the invoice was not fake and called someone to bring the cash to the warehouse. They get zero stars for their process and get a star for their good selection.

Horrible customer service, no one helped us at all. We ended up wasting an hour and half and left without a purchase. We couldnt even get simple questions answered. Our contractor recommended an employee but when we asked for him they couldnt even answer if he was there or not. They looked at us as if we were speaking a different language. Will not be back.

After looking at 5 other places plus the big box stores, they seemed to be the most reasonably priced for the product you get (think Toyota versus Mercedes, good quality... plywood box, solid wood drawers and fronts). They have price lists that are very straightforward. Ramon was super helpful in designing the layout and getting everything taken care of. The dock guys were good. You inspect the merchandise before you leave. They didnt mind you wanting to look at another piece if you were unsure. They even loaded it into my van. The cabinets are already assembled and most are in stock. You can literally come with a list and leave the same day with your stuff. You do need to use cash, debit, or personal/cashiers check (personal check has to have your name on it).

Drove to Builders Surplus from Ventura County. Read most of the reviews and called the store before heading out. Got there at 7:30am, bought to matching vanity counter tops and mirrors, inspected and loaded up by 8:45am. I took a piece of my bathroom tile and one of my sink fixtures to match up cabinets. Also had all my measurements. Very helpful no presure staff. Found everything I was looking for and payed way less than half of what the Big Box stores wanted. Very Happy with my purchase.

This place is amazing. They have a huge warehouse where you can look at the different types and styles of pre fab cabinets. They have a lot of service reps to help you. You need to come ready with your kitchen dimensions and they draw out a map of your space and help you determine which cabinets will fit in each area.We bought about 15-20 cabinets and was only around $5000. A custom cabinet maker came to our place to give us an estimate and he quoted us at over $18,000! So we saved a ton by using Builders Surplus company.When you order the cabinets, they give you 5 business days to pick them up. I had to rent a UHaul truck to bring everything to our place. See photos to see them installed in our kitchen.

If you plan to buy anything from this store, be ready to deal with problems. My experiences. 1st time. I ordered a shower door, Builder Surplus ordered the wrong one so it took 2 more weeks to re-order so total 5 weeks waiting time before I got the door . 2nd time. Got the call from the warehouse said that the door is ready to be picked up, got there, no door, the manager too busy to come and talk to me. 3rd time. ordered another shower door, 3 weeks later, the warehouse did not know what happened to the door. I am still waiting for them to find out what happened and call me back. I never going to come back to this store ever again. These people going to waste your time.

They have no floor employees that can assist. They only take orders that you pick at the desk, they wont leave the assist desk to help.

Decent selection of kitchen and bath vanities and countertops for pretty good prices. What I like about it is that most everything is in stock and you can leave immediately with your purchase.The downside is that their operations are very inefficient. The technology they use is from back in the 80s. Dumb terminals, manual invoices, fax machines, and adding machines. They could be so much more efficient with a proper POS system with an integrated inventory system.They also do not accept credit cards which baffled me since you could easily drop a few thousand dollars there.

I would not recommend this place to anyone they sold me a broken cabinet I called the manger Cesar to try to exchange the cabinet but all he said he couldnt do anything about and I could purchase another one. I went in person to try to resolve this problem but the manger Jay said Im not going to do anything about it if you want you can purchase another cabinet. I would never do business with these company. Seriously find another cabinet Warehouse, I dont want this to happen to anyone else.

After shopping here a few times and spending thousands of dollars remodeling my kitchen and bathroom. I could not believe this place would not refund or credit me for a broken sink of 58 dollars. I recently purchased 3 items on my last visit. Now usually before you leave the warehouse area you inspect your items for damages and they are normally taken out of the box. On this occasion 2 items were taken out and 1 item was not. It was a sink that only displayed the top because the rest was snug tight in its box. I didnt think to request for the sink to be removed from its package since I have shopped here a few times before with no problems. However when I finally got around to installing my new sink & removed it from its package I noticed it was severely damaged underneath. When I went back to the store and explained this to the manager Ivan. He was quick to indicate that they were not at fault nor responsible because everything is inspected before it leaves the warehouse. I agreed with him that usually everything is inspected, however I explained the unique scenario that took pace and let him know the sink was never taken out of the package or fully inspected. After this conversation the manager agreed to look at the cameras in the warehouse. I thought to myself great they can confirm the events that took place. I was wrong. Ivan didnt even have the decency to comeback and deny my clame himself. He had a sales person provide me with this picture that only shows my vanity and countertop slab out of the package. His employee has his back turned and is only showing me the sink but you never see it out of the box. When I requested to see the video or a picture with the item out of the box the sales person denied and said their was nothing they could do. I would think they would hold their customers to a higher value, especially the returning ones. I will never shop here again.

Huge warehouse with kitchen, bathroom, garage, closet setups for storage. Also wide selections of sinks. Found a really nice red sink that will go amazing in the bathroom of Ferrari garage in my mansion. Just need to get the mansion and garage and then this sick red sink and I am set.In all honesty, great selection and staff, however you absolutely pay a premium for products here. Of course you get what you pay for and it all seems more sturdy and higher quality than your HD or Lowes selections. Also its cool that all the cabinets do not come predrilled, its a bit more work, but you get to choose the placement, size, and type/layout of hardware you want.Oh yea, some super sick freestanding tubs there.

UNPROFESSIONAL. Not willing to work with customers even after admitting they made a mistake. After receiving our cabinets we unboxed them and noticed imperfections in product but we were willing to look past that. The problem came when one of said cabinets wasn’t the correct size. We gave them the correct measurements and called to talk about the problem and right away Jose Gomez denied any problems and explicitly said it was our fault and that we didn’t measure right. We decided we wanted to swap out another item we didn’t want so we went from Carson to Santa Ana to see what we can do and talk about the measurements about the first problem. After a back and forth with Jose he finally seen it was a fault of their own and didn’t apologize and we made a deal to swap for the correct size. He wanted to charge us a restocking fee for their mistake! We asked to speak to the manager Caesar carmona and he was more rude than Jose. We finally settled by swapping the old one for the bigger cabinet the next day and there was a small scratch on it and they stated they couldn’t take it back. We said we’d pay for the drawer just to get this over with and they tried over pricing us again! This was just an unnecessary mess. And seeing how they reply to other bad reviews you can see how rude they are. Let’s see how they reply to this.

Terrible experience. I spent thousands of dollars on two vanities, granite countertops, and mirrors and when my contractors open the box they found the vanities were extremely dirty and covered with sand and one of the vanities was damaged. I had a great experience today at Builders Surplus in Santa Ana. I purchased two each bathroom vanities, mirrors and medicine cabinets. I did my homework beforehand and made a list so my trip would be efficient, I highly recommend doing this! The customer service was excellent and everyone was very respectful. They only accept cash, check or debit cards so be prepared. And they do not accept returns so inspect your purchases carefully before taking them. Great selection of mid grade kitchen and bath cabinets and vanities.

Horrible product, they hurry you out so you can not see all the defects. And if the product is bad you have to wait another 6 weeks and they only order 1 at at time. So if the next one is bad you have to wait another 6 weeks.We were willing to take one with a defect but they refuse to give us any discount!

We had a great experience dealing with the staff and purchasing our new cabinets. They were informative and really took their time with us to design our dream kitchen. Gloria, Eduardo, Jesse, Robert and Alec were fantastic and went above and beyond to assist us. Saul and Jay explained a lot of the details to us. The experience was amazing! We drove up from San Diego and saved a lot! Give them a chance to earn your business.

Dont expect much of any help here, but if you know what you need or looking for they carry a large selection of both Modern styles and older home fittings to. Been coming here for a while and usually find what I need. Prices are pretty good to.

I am blown away by Builders Surplus Santa Ana. The massive selection is amazing all the accessories you would need and most of all the design team help. My general contractor was so impressed Builders Surplus is now his go to place for cabinets And accessories. Matt H. Was extremely helpful and professional in the layout of the cabinets. In order to finish up our shopping list he was amazing in getting 2 shower doors, 5 mirrors & 3 medicine cabinets at record speed. Other staff members on the floor were very helpful as well and pointed out great deals clearance markdowns giving you every opportunity save money . Big high-five for the shipping crew as well. These cabinets come assembled ladies and gentlemen. The quality control is excellent they open up every box for you to inspect it and then they repackage it and load it in your truck. Just remember to being bring a large enough truck to accommodate your purchases. We had your standard work truck with the toolbox on the sides and we barely got everything in. You may want to consider renting an actual moving truck to pick your cabinets up. I noticed several customers did just that. FYI: they want you to take your products home the same day so be prepared, all sales are final and they do not take credit cards so make sure you bring your debit card, check or cash. This place is very busy so if you want to get the best service make sure that you’re there when they open at 7:30 am and make your selection and get up to designer soon as you can; I pre-selected several cabinet designs. If you want a short time frame ask the staff which selection which cabinet lines are in stock that day. I noticed other viewers downgrading due to having to wait for design team help but that can I’ll be alleviated if you come first thing. First come first served!!! Love it, had what we were looking for!

If I could give more stars, I would.I only recently discovered this business which is surprising in itself, since it is massive. The store has a huge selection of everything cabinet, countertop and bathroom. The prices are amazingly reasonable. It is very well staffed with people who are courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. This business is extremely well run in every way!I had the great pleasure of posing a question to Jay the store manager. I had no idea what I was doing. Jay taught me more about cabinets, quality, wood characteristics and materials than I thought could ever be taught. He made me feel as though every question was a good one. In the end I walked away with a perfect bathroom vanity cabinet, countertop, sink and mirror. It is all installed now and my husband and I are delighted with our purchase and experience. I highly recommend this business.

It all adds up. It would of been better and less expensive to have cabinets custom built as well as better quality...If its going into a flip or a rental property then go for it but definitely pay attention or you will pay more then it would of been to have custom one made..GO TO 405 CABINETS WAY BETTER QUALITY AND PRICES!!!

They had exactly what we needed. Oh purchased a bathroom a vanity for upcoming project, had to have some drawer banks special ordered was pleased with the lead time. Very helpful service staff, lots of service people keep the large quantities of customers moving.

Nice showroom, but terrible experience when it was time to pickup order. Not happy that contractor referred this place to me. I was assured that all items would be in stock on the popular line we choose, but that was not the case when we came to pick it up. Prices are no better than Home Depot or Lowes, but here there is no warranty or guarantee. Also, no credit cards accepted, but they dont say that on your quote.

Excellent selection of vanities and cabinets. Just make sure to bring cash and be prepared to wait. It took upwards of two hours on a Saturday — clearly their busiest day — to fulfill our order once we placed it. If definitely suggest going on a weekday if possible.

Great prices and variety in the showroom. Not open on Sunday or Monday. I never do a kitchen or bath update without checking here first for inspiration. I usually find the best prices here too!

Staff was extremely helpful while we decided which bathroom vanity and top we wanted. Once we finally made a decision, it took us less that 15 minutes to have it paid for and packed into our car. For the amount of customers in the store on a midday Saturday, I was very impressed with the service and speed during checkout. Will definitely return for future projects.

We have made several visits to Builders Surplus in Santa Ana on our journey to remodel our mothers kitchen.On our first visit, Frank Adame helped us tremendously. He was very informative and patiently explained the whole process. If you are doing this on your own and need the guidance of a professional, then Frank is your guy.On our second visit a few weeks later, we were pleasantly surprised when Frank immediately recognized us and offered to help us. I cant remember the last time a salesperson recognized me, especially after only meeting us once and several weeks prior at that! Since Frank already had a customer and didnt wish us to wait, Sara Stewart assisted us. Sara was very friendly and took good care of us. After getting completely loaded and realizing we could take one more cabinet we went back and Brian Y assisted us to get our last cabinet.In all of our collective three visits we have experienced outstanding customer service. We highly recommend Builders Surplus to anyone who is in the market for cabinets. It is well worth the drive to Santa Ana even if you are coming from San Diego county like we were.

This place is a rip off we paid for $5000 worked of stuff they didnt give us all our items and they pretended they did we had to pay $500 more dollars to get the items because they dont do returns in we needed the cabinets to complete our remodel

I left a similar negative post on the Builders website. I purchased a relatively expensive marble vanity top that just crumbled while simply being removed from the packaging. I have purchased several items from Builders all the way back to when they were actually a surplus store and have been reasonably pleased until this transaction. I am aware of their no refund policy but the best they would offer was to sell me a replacement. Not a satisfying outcome.

They cant even add correctly. distance from the wall to the center of the sink was over an inch short and 3 inches short to the edge of the dishwasher. the center of one base cabinet needed to be 90 inches from the far wall, he put it 84 inched completely screwing up the island for the stove. then had to completely re-arranged cabinets to make it fit resulting in being unable to use one base cabinet that was nearly $700. take the hint there is a reason they dont take credit cards -- so you cant return their mess up and get your money back. actually, I would give this place a minus 5 star rating.

We bought the 31x19 silver, yes silver metallic, yes metallic, glass sink top for our main bathroom...it is very different. We are going to make the cabinet for the sink top using popular would...which happens to have not just light wood grain, but a little winey and green grain too..cant wait. Took us three hours to choose what we, or I should say Jen...wanted...

Amazing selection and great service! We went to the big stores but didnt like what we saw and what we liked, we needed to order and was pricey. The cabinets we bought are great quality made in the USA. I am hesitant when people write great reviews but for us this store was a perfect match. Its busy though so you have to have an idea of what you want. The gal that helped us was just great. She gave us all the info we needed to make our decision among three items.

Absolutely terrible customer service.Was sold a cabinet that was NOT suppose to have handles included. No issue. So I bought my own. 2 screw modern handlesI drop the cabinet off and the contractor installs. When I get home that evening I notice some terrible single screw handles installed. I was really confused.My contractor tell me these were taped to the back of the cabinet. So he installed them. I wasnt happy because the drawer had holes drilled right in the center and you cant use the 2 holed handles anymore.We called BS and explained it to the manager. He said bring the drawers back and they would take care of it. Henry.When I get there I proceed to be told it was my fault and that Henry never said they would take care of it. They also tried to lie to me and say the cabinet came with those handles until i showed the the tag that says they were not included.They wanted to try and charge me 25 drawer. So an extra 200 dollar total. Even though one of the managers, John admitted they were not suppose to be there in the first place.This place is cash and debit on purpose. It’s because they know customers aren’t being treated fairly and will request a charge back.These guys need a lesson in customer service. Don’t do business here. Very condescending on top of everything.

Great place to shop if you want to be treated like a criminal by underpaid staff working for low class management with a self-righteous-yet-still-white-trash attitude.In particular, I recommend working with the service manager if you want to be offended by his poor customer service skills, arrogance and abject stupidity about the median value of homes within a 5 mile radius of his store.Actually I suspect that the attitude at this location made a lot of sense when Orange County was formerly brand new and struggling to be more than a gas refill pitstop between Los Angeles and San Diego. But since the 1980s, Orange County has become much more affluent. Dont tell that to management; they still havent figured it out and get angry when told that by their customers.Oh, and whatever you do, bring a wet rag for your head, because this place is a warehouse and too cheap to install air conditioning. So on warm days outside it could easily be 10 or more degrees hotter inside their showroom. (Youd think the way their run their business that it is a used tire wholesaler in the ghetto).Net/Net: if you want low prices, go to IKEA for much better looking pieces at low prices. If you want quality for your money, go to Costco or wait for a sale (Memorial Day/Labor Day/Fathers Day/Black Friday/ Thanksgiving) at Home Depot. Better service. Better selection. Nicer employees. Better forms of payment accepted. Better return policy.

In my experience, service is very bad, especially when you are ready to purchase kitchen cabinets. I selected the cabinets I wanted and needed someone just to write the invoice. I had to register my name and was assigned to one sales person who did not look motivated to help me out. Besides, he never called my name and noticed other people who never registered jumping in front of me . I was told that I had to wait because that was the only one person to place the order!! Nobody else!! Well, they lost the sale!! But Im glad, later I found that Home Depot or Lowes prices are higher, but they have good quality kitchen cabinets with a Lifetime warranty. Builders Surplus is like buying a used car, YOU BUY CABINETS AS IS. NO WARRANTIES WHATSOEVER!!! No problem if this is what you want.

A decent selection...but the service is bad enough for me to not purchase there. Seems to me that they are not there to help, more like putting in the time. I should be thankful, they made me look elsewhere and I found a great vanity with a granite top for about a third of the price, quality was better than most of the ones in their showroom. You might use them to get ideas, but I wont be the one to say buy from them.

Lots of great options for kitchens and vanities. They can design your kitchen while you watch. I dont think they offer installation, but I would certainly check it out!!

I needed to replace a 72 double sink bathroom cabinet. Builders Surplus had a large selection and I found one that was just right. Since I had read the negative reviews, I was cautious but found that to be unfounded. The transaction was handled quickly and competently. I realized there are no returns and that you had to pay by cash, check, or debit card. That slowed me down a bit but I was comfortable with it in the end. I paid and took my receipt to the loading area to examine my new cabinet where Andre helped me. I noticed that the grain and stain looked odd on one of the four cabinet doors. Andre immediately removed the door and replaced it with one that was absolutely perfect. He went far above what I expected. I am very pleased with my purchase and recommend the company highly.

Fast, patient service and great selection. We had a hard time deciding but the man was super patient and nice. He asked about our budget and we opted for best quality, solid wood construction of which they had several!

Meh - prices werent very discounted and not much surplus. We only needed two cabinets for a project but nothing for us.

They got a scratch tube and did not want to take it back. Very bad service they have worst customer service. Management is even worst Jay one the Mangers was very rude and very disrespectful. I highly recommend not goings and anything here.
