Love love love this place. Absolutely authentic indian food, incredible ambience, very friendly staff.Found this gem pretty late but it is now my favourite Indian restaurant.Malai Kofta is unbelievable, you gotta try it.The chef even customised the gravy for us. The dessert were great too.Thank you for making our day special with the best indian food.And it’s pet friendly too! 😬

Delicious food and very friendly staff. This restaurant makes authentic Indian food, unlike many others who use same curry for the every sabji in the menu this restaurant makes different curry for different sabji. We visited this place during memorial day weekend, we were welcomed by the owner and they allowed our 🐶 in one of the front table which was very nice 🙂.

Great food, great atmosphere - especially with the indoor waterfall. Unfortunately it was only on for a short period of time. But youve got to cough up a good amount of money here unfortunately. At this price Ive been to better restaurants, but the experience was great.

The food was amazing. This was closest to authentic food that you will get. Portions were great and the food had amazing flavor right as it touched your tongue. As a Pakistani/indian family, we have been praising the food ever since we left San Diego. The flavor, experience, and service is unmatched. Must eat here 100% and it is open later than most restaurants which was great as well.

The delicious food paired with the kindest staff makes the dining experience one to remember.Something I found really unique about this restaurant is their make-your-own curry option. If none of their dishes seems to tickle your fancy, youre able to create your own custom dish - a choice of protein, curry sauce, and spice level. We ordered the paneer tikki masala, and customized our own curry dish with chicken and mango curry (both mild). We also ordered naan bread and mango kulfi to round off the meal.The curries were super flavorful and accompanied by generous portions of basmati rice. The staff are very courteous and helpful, the waiter came by our table to let us know that the rice can be refilled or if we wanted to take the leftovers home, we could also get some rice to go. Do I hear leftovers for dinner?Needless to say, India Palace has quickly become my go-to Indian restaurant in the Hillcrest area (and dare I say in San Diego?).

The food was yum. Loved the reshami kabab, butter chicken, daal makhni and garlic naan, chicken pakodas and onion bhaji. It’s hard to find good chai everywhere but there’s was too good!

Had a great dinner. Top shelf Indian food perfectly prepared and served in a feast for the eyes setting. The waterfall was a great touch.

I do not like writing bad reviews, but here goes.The service was awful, the woman who served us could not care less that we were there. The mango lassi was a bit sour. She brought me a plate that had a big chip missing. She seemed fine getting me a new plate. I had chicken curry. The rice was awful and the naan was awful. About 20 minutes after we left I got violently ill. When I got to my house I threw up a few times and I still feel sick. When I came out of the bathroom I found my wife throwing up in the other bathroom. This has got to be the worst Indian food or perhaps just the worst food I have had in a long time.Beware of eating at India Palace.This is a sad but true story.Om ShantiGeoff Clark

Possibly my best experience at an Indian restaurant so far! All the dishes were well cooked and delightful! And on top of good food and excellent customer service, they were affordably priced!

We ordered butter chicken it was too dry and chewy. We asked the waiter about it so he told us they prepare the chicken ahead of item. I understand you need to prepare the sauce ahead of time because that takes hours to prepare but chicken should be grilled or baked fresh for orders. Restaurant was not even busy, my order came in less than 5 minutes which means it was already prepared I don’t know when and was given to me. When I told this thing to the waiter he said I am hearing this first time and he was very rude about it when we asked him to take it back. If we are paying good money we should get fresh food. We told him to take it back and get us shahi paneer we don’t want to eat not so fresh chicken. He gave us matar paneer we asked him shahi paneer. Worst service ever seen in my life that too in a downtown restaurant. Matar paneer was so taste less too just felt someone just boiled it and put it on my table. It was not worth my money and 1.5 mile walk for me. I wish had the option to put 0, I didn’t even wanted to give one star.

It was an amazing experience visiting here. Not only was staff very mask conscious, they were also very accommodating with seating. The server was a great listener who made delicious recommendations for menu items & we couldnt be happier. The food exceeded expectations & we had leftovers. Also, the restroom was very clean. We will definitely be back soon.

This place was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! We were served by the owner who is very sweet and friendly. This place was without a doubt THE BEST Indian food I have ever had. We had 5 different dishes and everyone of them was incredible and fresh.

The spice levels are legit, so ask for your actual level of desired spiciness (no need to sandbag).A big order can run a little pricy, but the quality can’t be beat. (Great leftover capabilities, too) Friendly staff, authentic dishes... and now I’m hungry from writing this review.Go give them a try, you’ll be happy you did!

Lived in the middle east for a while and this food is as authentic as it could get! We had chicken biryani and chicken vindaloo, aloo paratha and garlic cheese naan. Favorite indian spot for sure!😁

I thought I had had good Indian food… until I ate here. This place has literally redefined my idea of Indian cuisine. We ordered for take out as visitors to the area. Pickup was quick, easy, and accurate. The butter chicken was impeccable with a strong and savory roasted flavor and perfect texture. The lamb vindaloo had all the great aromatics you expect plus meat that was soft and subtle in lamb flavor. The aloo gobi was also just the right texture and absolutely delicious. Garlic naan also just right. Thank you for a memorable meal! We must come back before we leave the area!

I would normally not prefer giving one star, but this time I was not happy with the food served by this restaurant. Lacked flavor, taste was below avg, as if I was on antibiotics. If I’m paying $12 for a curry, the least I expect is a slat and a little flavor of the spices. The vegetables were not well cooked, curry lacked flavor and the cherry on top was - all the naans/breads were not cooked. Very disappointed. Hope the owner takes a hard look at the taste and flavors that backs its brand name.

This place is my number one restaurant. Of all restaurants I know I love it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to that place. Whenever I want to go to a special dinner, this place comes immediately to my mind. excellent and diverse food and a rich cuisine.generous staff, and good mood. Not less important, the expence is fair. I tell about this spot with great pleasure.

Wow, what a totally let down. This has got to be the worst Indian food I’ve ever had. So bland, and not so tasty at all. Ordered spicy and all the plates were so bland, a baby could eat it, but probably would vomit because it was so gross. I lived in London which has some of the best Indian food on the planet, and this was such a waste of money.

This food is terrible! Also i was given yohgurt that was so old it was fermenting! There is a total lack of complexity in the byranni, and the lamb rogan josh was dry and not spicy at all. The quantity certainly didnt match the price, and not the quality either. Put simply, frozen microwave indian dishes would be better. Sad, so sad.

The food is good and priced accordingly. The restaurant is gorgeous and the staff who waited us was professional. Why the three stars then...they dont have cheese naan.

Best Indian food in Southern California

The food was amazing. The rice was delicious and fluffy if that is a thing. Not sure how else to describe the rice.The currys were delicious and overflowing with flavor.We had a chicken, lamb and a shrimp curry.Everyone was excellent in their own way.The nan was delicious, warm and fresh.Service was excellent and the prices were very reasonable.Highly recommended this place as the food and experiance was great.

Here I come to an Indian restaurant while visiting San Diego Indian palace on the fifth Avenue absolutely stunning restaurant in looks. Wonderful interior, best location but definitely not the best food. Till the time we reached buffet was over as it was 3pm so we asked them if a la carte is an option they said yes. We got a booth which was very comfortable to sit for 4 people. Here comes now the main part of my review that is food which was a disaster. We ordered meat samosa, chicken tikka kebab, veg biryani and 2 mango lassi. Lets take meat samosa I tasted it and kept it aside as the meat had no flavor even after eating with chutney that they served. Then comes chicken tikka kebab what do I say about this dish I guess they dont know how to make it. It was colored well but no taste at all. I think they forgot to put it in tandoor and just microwave It and served it to us(pictures attached). I think the cook was in a hurry to take a break so served us with some chicken tikka which was not even ready as it cost $16 so didnt wanted to loose money so served the customer whatever is available. When I told this to the server who took our order he said we put less salt and was arguing with me on how chicken tikka is made in the restaurant and how people like it a lot(people really dont know then what Indian food taste like😀😀). Me being the nice girl(as I was very hungry didnt have stamina to argue back) asked him to get green chutney so he got it still the tikka failed to give me some flavour (oh the chutney also had no flavour other than mint). Now comes the biryani which was as good as masala rice. Anything was good was the decor. Am really nice girl giving 2 star dont hate this place but just that dislike it as they took $50 for the food and gave me something that I didnt like.

This place was the BEST. Definitely go here if you get the chance. We had two appetizers, garlic naan, 2 orders of tiki masala, one order of lamb kabob, and 3 differt deserts. All that for $106.00 plus tip. Absolutely the best Indian food ever. If you ever get a chance to go here do it!

Fantastic spicy flavoursome food. The portion size was very good, as a couple we shared the spicy chicken kadhai which had rice included and garlic naan with vegetable somasa. Everything came piping hot and on good friendly service. The parking was limited outside on the street but a lot more modern that the reviews state

A lot of small things during the dining experience ruined the big picture for me. silver ware and plates were dirty...water was served with no ice. Waiting staff did horrible job at tending to the table. Took for ever for us to get a receipt (due to lack of acknowledgement from staff) the food was ‘ok’ ... it didn’t taste as authentic as other Indian restaurants ive been to. I guess the price was fair with the experience.. I paid $26 for an order of 2 meat samosas and chicken tikka and that was enough for two people. I did not leave a tip for the waiter , and I do not intend on ever ordering food from here again .

Good authentic Indian food.

The chicken tikka masala was very seasoned and the flavor was great. I have tried chicken tikka masala at different Indian restaurants and I would say India Palace is in my top 3! I also asked for medium spice and it had such a nice kick in heat! Food was delicious. TOp notch!!

I placed an order through Door Dash, the wait time said 60-74 minutes, which was fine with me. My food arrived in about an hour. The food was piping hot, but I ordered this for lunch the next day. I promptly put it in the fridge and took it to work the next day.When lunch time rolled around I was excited to pop my beautiful Paneer Tikka Masala in the microwave and place my naan in the toaster.Firstly, the smell is intoxicating, second, the look is beautiful. I love the rich red color of the Tikka Masala. This restaurant does it right!Next came time to try my meal. It exceeded my expectations. It tasted wonderful and I had ordered it spicy, which it was. I was sweating within four bites. The truly exceptional difference is instead of only 10 or so pieces of paneer in my curry, this curry was loaded with paneer. I wasnt pushing it around in order to savor it. There was plenty so just about every bite I had paneer. Realistically, probably 30 or so pieces in my one order. My naan was perfectly cooked and very good.My only issue, this will ruin all other Paneer Tikka Masalas for me.

The restaurant is nice. But there are statues of Hindu gods, placed next to sitting areas, and in the bar. That is so offensive for me as a Hindu. Theres non vegetarian food served right next to the statues, in the bar kindly remove that or soon somone will take a very big action I m Punjabi too y dont u guys keep guru babaji di Photo, its is sad u ppl are been useing them for showpiece 👎

Delicious food in a lovely space. Always a treat. Pre-covid they had a yummy lunch buffet. Large semi-circular booths great for both chatting and people watching. Front wall is mostly open, adding to the exotic decor.

Went there last night with my date. we are travelling so we were searching for a good Indian food because my girl just love Indian foods. we were there around 7:30. The waiter named Heera served us. He was very attentive and very helpful. He helped us with the order and we just loved the service.The blasting food, romantic cozy ambience and those music videos just added extra flavor to our experience. I will definitely come back when I come back to San Diego. We also heard they have a buffet, but hasnt tried it yet.

I have been ordering from here for 3 years now. Obviously I like the food but I can tell when the chef changes.The last order of my favorite chicken curry for example, the onion was almost raw, the flavors werent developed. Im not giving up yet but.....

I adore this spot! They provide superb meals, their menu is nice, The chef in that place is a professional, I enjoy very much trying all their dishes. The food is consistently fresh, the attitude towards the customers is friendly. I often eat in this place and I not even once was disappointed. I highly recommend it.

Really nice place for really good food. Just walking in the senses are perked up with the lovely scent of spice. My waiter cautioned me about the spice level I chose, so I went down a bit. It was terrific. Great staff, fast service and i nice atmosphere.

Open for in-dining. This was our first time out for a meal since the shutdown. tables are spaced far apart and hand sanitizer bottles everywhere. Servers wore masks and gloves. Food still served in metal and ceramic plates with silverware. The smell of cleaning solution now part of the nice ambiance. Service and food the same as before. Will return again when the craving for Indian food permeates the palate.

As a local in San Diego I continuously find myself returning to India Palace for a great time. The vegetarian options are nearly limitless and they always seem to find a way to change things up a little bit. This place has become my go-to for dinners and even for small events in the private ballroom that they have in the back.Can’t say enough about the professionalism of the staff and the amazing quality/taste of the food.
